Para terminar, puxamos ao nosso lado tecnológico e falamos sobre a nova passadeira Wahoo KICKR RUN.RecursosWahoo KICKR RUN - https://youtu.be/BbiHG6s6J4MRecomendações The Way of the Runner (Adharanand Finn) - Livro - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26889751Run with the Wind (Kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru) - Anime - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9402026Sweat Elite (episódios sobre Ekiden) - YouTube - https://youtu.be/NLEws-Qbt-4

Meet Bruce Raymer, 4x Canadian Champion, 7x National Team member, and the 1999 Ottawa Marathon Champion—where he broke through and ran his PB of 2:22! Bruce traveled the world racing as a pro and later as an elite Masters runner, before retiring at age 42 due to nagging Achilles issues. However, his competitive fire still burned bright and he turned to cycling five years ago, and is now focused on time trialing—and just last weekend earned 3rd place at the Canadian Masters Time Trial Championships! We discussed: -The impact legendary Canadian coach and mentor, Paul Poce, had on his running journey and how that led him to coaching to share his experiences to help runners find their best and give back to the sport that had given him so much. -How his dad introduced him to running and shaped his work ethic, drive, and stay-in-the-fight spirit. -The importance of mindset and how he coaches his athletes to get comfortable being uncomfortable to perform at their best. -Bruce's amazing experiences racing in Japan at Fukuoka, Tokyo, Ekiden, and our mutual love of their incredible passion for our sport. Bruce has had such an inspiring journey! I really enjoyed our convo and I'm grateful for the many lessons and experiences shared—and for Bruce's candor on some personal struggles! In S2Ep21 of the PRP, Adam is enlightened by thriving long distance runner, passionate golfer, engineering extraordinaire, forthright beer enthusiast and proud father, Hayato Shimizu who has been preparing for the New York City Marathon on November 6th, 2022. The lads waste no time and jump straight in to an in depth review of what has been an insanely impressive year for Hayato and his running career. With a broken PR in nearly every possible distance, the PRP listenership is schooled by Hayato's composed and uninhibited outlook on the sport. His secret? Work hard, but don't overthink it, it's that simple. The more pressure you put on yourself, the less enjoyment you will ultimately obtain. Committing yourself to the process and sharing your experiences with others are where the actual awards and benefits from running can be found. The time your watch reads at the finish line is actually quite trivial. Paul Livingstone, seasoned runner, local running gear merchant, aspiring brewer and one of Hayato's oldest running pals joins the show to offer his take on what the PRP has deemed, The Year of Hayato. From Boston, to Bayshore and now onto New York these two gentlemen have shared a lot of time out on the course in 2022 together and one thing is for certain... Hayato is absolutely on fire at the moment! Hayato sheds light on his journey to and through running over the past decade and shares his unique approach to how he builds his fitness blocks. For him, running is a pursuit of exploring the best version of yourself and is a journey of one. Before episode close, Hayato and Paul gossip all things Boston vs. New York. Because each of them have raced these events multiple times, they share a distinct credibility to offer opinions on all things from portapotty sitch, starting line logistics, time of year/temperature to overall vibe. New York or Boston, who do ya got? What on earth is Ekiden?! What the hell happened in Boston in 2017? Is Hayato throwing down impromptu 100m dashes to defend his honor? What exactly is Kendo?! Wait wait wait, CAN HAYATO DUNK?! Does Hayato just want to be just like Eduardo when he grows up? What are the Abbott World Majors?? Ummm, creamy peanut butter on an everything bagel? All of this and loads more to chew on in this educational and inspiring episode of the PRP! Real-Life Japanese with Kaichi (Kaichiと学ぶ生の日本語!)

【Reference Site】 https://www.japanistry.com/event/hakone-ekiden/ Ekiden (駅伝) is the term for road relay in Japanese, the two kanji meaning “station” and “transmission” in reference to the posts that were set up at regular distances along the Tokaido during the Edo period. The first competition was held in 1917—a gruelling 500km race from Kyoto to Tokyo—and today there are numerous competitions up and down the country, but the most famous one is undoubtedly the Hakone Ekiden. Hakone Ekiden is held on 2nd and 3rd January each year and begins and ends in front of the head offices of the Yomiuri Shimbun (the newspaper which sponsored the first event and whose then Social Affairs Department chief editor coined the term “Ekiden”). University teams of 10 competitors, run 107.5km on the first day to Lake Ashi in Hakone, and 109.6km on the second (each split into 5 sections) to return to Tokyo. The first Hakone Ekiden was held in 1920 between four universities, but now the competition—which is televised and followed widely—sees about 21 universities compete (the top 10 from the previous year's race are given automatic entry to next year's event). Meanwhile, LEO talks about Marathon and Ekiden races, through the anime "Run With The Wind", and AURE SENPAI has found an idol band whose name is quite sentimental: "Kimi Ni, Mune Kyun". We’re rolling out a massive summer preview today on Running Things with one of the finest athletics minds in Australia: Sean Whipp. Sean joins us to run through all the must-see events on the calendar over the next couple of months – there’s a stack of events in Australia and a few notable races overseas. The first of which is the Valencia Marathon to be held on December 6th – race organisers have put together stellar fields in all races – men’s and women’s marathons and half marathons.Sean also educates us on the ekiden season in Japan – Aussie Melissa Duncan is racing the Queen’s Ekiden this weekend, and we cast an eye forward to the famous Hakone Ekiden taking place in early January.Locally, there’s plenty happening. Riley and Sean talk about the upcoming Launceston Running Festival, which features a 10k and a half marathon – historically we’ve seen deep elite fields at the Launceston 10 and this year is shaping up as no exception. Late December sees the Albie Thomas Mile taking place up in NSW, and the year is closed out locally wih the Christmas Carnivals back down in Tasmania. The big one in January is of course the rescheduled Zatopek:10 on 26 January – likely with an expanded schedule to include more support races in a summer where our athletes may well be starved of racing opportunities. We go through all of that and much more on an episode that we hope gets you excited for the next couple of months of racing in Australia and abroad. "The club cross country championships are popular because of the team aspect. I can speak to this because when I owned my running stores (Big River Running Co.) we used to send our team (Big River Racing Team) to Clubs and it was our chance to re-live our high school and college glory days. You put on the spikes. You huddle up as a team before the race. You run the race. It kind of reminded you of the national meet back in the day when you'd go party afterward because it was the end of the season. We'd get together for workouts in the weeks leading up to the race. It was great. I think that the same atmosphere can be achieved in an ekiden. I know it can because I just witnessed it yesterday with that same kind of camaraderie." Hoka One One Northern Arizona Elite head coach Ben Rosario discusses the Michigan Pro Ekiden that was held at Stony Creek Metro Park in Michigan this week. For those unfamiliar with the ekiden racing style, it's super popular in Japan where a race consists of a multi-person road relay. In this case, it was six legs. Three men and three women covering the 26.2 mile-marathon distance with 10K, 6.1K and 5K legs. The NAZ team won in two hours, 10 minutes and 11 seconds. Hansons Brooks Original Distance Project took second in 2:12:08 and Minnesota Distance Elite rounded out the podium in 2:12:51. In this episode, you'll hear about how the race came together and where the ekiden style of racing could fit into the American distance running scene going forward as well as a little bit about race innovation amid the global pandemic, which has also led to Ben teaming up with a group to host The Marathon Project later this year. ✩ Follow CITIUS MAG: twitter.com/CitiusMag | instagram.com/citiusmag | facebook.com/citiusmag ✩ Connect with Jesse and the show via Email: trackhistorypod@gmail.com | twitter.com/tracksuperfan

Most people couldn't dream of traversing the length of Britain on foot in even the sturdiest running shoes. But for Anna McNuff the distance alone wasn't a big enough challenge: in June, she set out to run 100 marathons through the UK, barefoot. [21:26] This week Anna shares her tales of adventure, throughout a 5 month quest to spread positivity, encourage others to redefine their limits, and reach for the impossible. [1:00] This week on The Rundown we bring you the shocking results of speed and depth from the roads. [4:25] Nearly 400 men ran under 70 minutes at the The Ageo City Half-Marathon in Japan, in the hopes of qualifying for the prestigious Hakone Ekiden. Kate and Maddy discuss the history of Ekiden relays in Japan and (only half) joke about wanting to pursue a career as a professional Ekiden athlete. [9:53] Letesenbet Gidey demolished the women's 15km world record by over a minute, running 44:19 in the Netherlands. Even more shocking, she closed in a blazing 29:12 final 10km, which is a world's best. [13:11] The World Para Athletics Championships wrapped up in Dubai and Canada came away with 5 medals! Nate Reich won his first world title setting a 1500m championship record of 4:02:04. [14:40] The NCAA Northeast Regional Cross-Country Championships were moved from the XC course to the roads because it snowed in Buffalo, NY. Maddy and Kate talk about the fact that almost every runner competed in the controversial Nike Next% and how this would have changed the race dramatically. And in the guest’s chair we are very pleased to have Oceania Athletics Council member Matt Mahon to provide the inside word on the Championships from the organiser’s perspective. The episode kicks off with the announcement of the very strong Victorian open teams taking part in the Australian Half Marathon Championship on the Sunshine Coast and the Australian Cross Country Championships in Wollongong – both competitions taking place in August. Discussion turns to the Oceania Championships with Matt providing some great insight into the organisation, the event and the bearing these Championships now have on athletics in Australia and across the region. The first part of our results wrap focusses on the Sprints/Hurdles, Jumps and Para events and includes interviews with Eddie Nketia, Jack Hale, Naa Anang, Mietta Russell, Brooke Stratton, Chad Perris and Marty Jackson. Stage two of the results wrap looks at the Middle & Long Distance, Throws & Walks with interviews from Matt Ramsden, Ben Buckingham, Melissa Duncan, Paige Campbell, Damien Birkenhead, Benjamin Voogd, Kelsey- Lee Barber, Isobella Simonelli and Jemima Montag. With so much great interview coverage from the Oceania Championships, we’ve edited six feature interviews that go into greater detail or provide a story we believe is worth retelling. These interviews are with Elizaveta Parnova, Kelsey-Lee Barber, Matt Ramsden, Brooke Stratton, Naa Anang and Harry Summers. Meanwhile in Victoria the XCR competition continues on it’s merry way and we provide coverage of the recent relay events… the Ekiden in Anglesea and the Road Relays at Sandown. Rosie Donegan leads off the other results segment with her tremendous Steeplechase effort in the US that places as the Australian lead for 2019 and in the box seat for a trip to Doha later in the year. Welcome to Episode 27 of the Final Surge podcast where we kick off 2017 by talking to Coach Mario Fraioli. With the new year here we talk about goal setting, new year resolutions and setting yourself up to have the best year of running yet. We also dig into when a runner should get a coach and talk about his new coaching venture. Last week we talked to Olympian Nick Willis and I want to remind you about the contest we have going where you can enter through January 6th to win one of two boot camps with Nick at the Miler Method. Head over to Finalsurge.com/podcast and look for details under Nick’s podcast. Dozens of you reach out to use every week on Twitter @FinalSurge and we thank you for your interactions Follow us and ask us any questions about Final Surge or let us know what questions you would like us to ask future guest. Mario shares with us how he got started in running while in high school and his early basketball career. He also discussed how with the lack of structure in his high school program he had to use the Internet searching other runners training to get his start. Mario recently made a transition from Competitor Magazine to Ekiden, a new coaching service. He talks about why he made the transition. This episode will launch right after the first of the year. So most people are thinking about their goals for the year. Let’s talk about those a little. We ask Mario when he has a coaching client come to him about goals, what advice do you give them in setting goals? Mario does not like the word goals and he explains why. Someone on Twitter recently asked, how do I go about figuring out which event I am best suited for and should focus on? Mario talks about how he recommends experimenting. We talked some about online calculators and how to use them to see what you need to work on. We talked about goals, and if someone has a goal how much is it about just training vs all the other things like diet and sleep? We also discussed setting long term vs short term goals. Mario talks about making a daily check list that you can do daily to help you reach your goals you set. Mario discusses what he learned from Alberto Salazar and breaking the training for the year down into two parts. A couple of questions I got via Twitter and Direct message for you from listeners. I am a 38-year-old runner who has been running for 4 years. My current PR in the 5k is 18:03 and has been since January of 2016. I cannot seem to break the 18-minute mark. What can I do to make the next jump. … Now I did ask him some follow-up questions to get a little more information. Right now he runs 5 days a week, averages about 35 miles a week. His long run is 8-10 miles. A typical week he runs a 4-mile tempo run at 10k pace and does one day of repeats on the track that vary from 400 up to 1600. Sounds to me like he has plateaued, what advice do you have for Jim? Mario answers Jim with some good info including maybe how to get more power out of each stride. We also talk about some pacing for Jim and what he should be doing on recovery days and how Mario uses 1/2 marathon pace to determine that pace. 2nd question that came in: I have been running for just over a year now and want to run a half marathon. My problem is with my family and work schedule I do not have as much time to train. My local Crossfit gym I go to is telling me there is a cross fit endurance program that they claim is a better way to train because it allows me to train more intense but in a lot less volume. Have you seen this program and what are your thoughts? We talk about his new coaching company and why he started it. Coaching is not something for just elite athletes but really is for anyone at any point in your running career. I ask Mario when a runner should think about getting a coach and why a new golfer will get a golf coach or tennis player will get a tennis coach, but runners seem to think they need to be elite before they hire a coach.
