Today is my birthday! To celebrate, I'm going to do a podcast on something I've wanted to do for a long time: Comparing the novel to the film of a movie I like. Now, I know that I've been pretty critical of Stephen King's IT in other podcasts, but to be honest, it wasn't until I read the novel (or rather listened to the audiobook) that I really loved the story. After talking to a million people about the differences and similarities (online and in person), I figured I would go ahead and make a podcast on it. Now, there's hundreds, if not thousands of blogs, pods and vlogs on the subject, so I'm not going to sound like I'm breaking the mold. But, I did have a lot of fun doing research and it's MY birthday! There's tons of things I left out, and things I should have said but didn't, but that's how podcasting works: You can't win them all.Enjoy! Also … Happy Halloween!!If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.

In our 600th episode we celebrate by diving headfirst into the genre that's thrilled, chilled, and spilled across our timeline: HORROR. From our very first spooky review to the most underrated scream-fest we've ever covered, we're kicking things off with a look back at our horror milestones. Then it's time to sharpen the knives as we pit the classics against today's trauma-laced, meta-aware scream machines. We dissect the trends haunting our screens in 2025 - elevated horror burnout, the rise of horror comedies, and the never-ending parade of legacy sequels. And of course, it wouldn't be October without a handful of must-see horror recommends for the season, from cozy creeps to blood-soaked fun.

Welcome foolish humanoids to the Talking Apes Halloween Special. Facebook admin. Patrick Izzo joins us to break down the final issue of Marvel's BEWARE THE PLANET OF THE APES comic mini series. We break down the story, artwork, and the foreshadowing of Caesar's speech from CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - “Where there is fire, there is smoke”. Synopsis of the storyline: Zira's nephew Lucius went missing, it is with great trepidation that they turn to a human ally - a young woman who will someday earn the name "Nova"! But the search for Lucius brings them all deeper into the Forbidden Zone - which is forbidden for a reason. The search for Lucius brings Cornelius and Zira, along with their human guide Nova, deep into the Forbidden Zone and find the ruins of an ancient stadium, unaware that a society of telepathic, mutated humans reside within. The colony's leader, Ivana, reveals that Lucius is being held prisoner by the dreaded Hominidae Empire, an ape city controlled by militant gorillas. Now, Zira has persuaded Ivanna to wage war against the gorillas before they attack them. Only is she manipulating them into battle just so she can save Lucius? How much of this will Nova remember when she will soon meet up with Taylor, an astronaut from another time, another world. Richard and Kevin head back to Ape City for another round of trick-or-treating—this time, they bring Patrick along for the adventure. But this time, the city is animated! Could it be in honor of RETURN TO THE PLANET OF THE APES 50th anniversary? Join the fun and embrace the campy vibes that mirror the animated series. Now GO APE! Welcome back to the Video Store Podcast and welcome to Spooky Month! We're halfway to Halloween, and I've picked four underrated Halloween specials to help you celebrate the season.Halloween is Grinch Night! (1977)This lesser-known Grinch special adds a bit of spooky, Seussian fun to the Halloween season. Young Euchariah Who gets lost on a trip to the “euphemism” during a wind storm and has an encounter with the Grinch. You shouldn't go out on a night like this—instead, stay in with Halloween is Grinch Night!Doug Season 4 Episode 4 “Doug's Halloween Adventure” (1993)This Halloween special is one that I've tried to watch every year since the 90s. Doug and Skeeter are spending Halloween at Funky Town, hoping, though not without trepidation, to ride Bloodstone Manor, the new horror ride. However, by the time they make it to the front of the line, the park is closed. Not disuaded, school Roger pushes them to sneak on anyway. Can they escape? Watch “Doug's Halloween Adventure” and find out. Gargoyles Season 2 Episode 7 “Eye of the Beholder” (1995)This Halloween episode of Gargoyles has been shown as a Halloween special in the years since its original airing. Elisa and Goliath are tracking a werewolf-type creature…or should we say werefox? Can they rescue Fox from the effects of The Eye of Odin necklace? You'll have to watch and find out. The Halloween Tree (1993)This Emmy-winning Halloween special is adapted from Ray Bradbury's novel of the same name. The Halloween Tree focuses on the adventures of 5 kids on Halloween night who must learn the value of friendship and the true spirit of the Halloween season. With Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Moundshroud and narration by Ray Bradbury himself, The Halloween Tree is NOT to be missed. Thanks for joining us for another trip to the Video Store Podcast. Have a safe and happy Halloween season! Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! This post is public so feel free to share it. This is a public episode. The thought of a minister or a reverend or a nun becoming possessed feels wrong on so many levels, but demons get brownie points for possessing and inhabiting the bodies and souls of those who have given themselves fully to God. However, the overtly religious are taught that evil can wear many faces. If you're expecting evil to be lurking in every dark corner, anything can seem like a sign from the Devil. And that's where the lines start to blur - that's where the waters get murky with paranoia. And that's where Sister Maricica Irina Cornici found herself trapped between paranoia and doctrine.

On the 2025 Super Retro Halloween Special, we went all in on spooky season and broke Halloween all the way down. We counted down the Top 5 struggle costumes that every kid rocked at least once, debated the best and worst candy you could find in your pillowcase, and reminisced about that unbeatable feeling when stores first rolled out the Halloween decorations. We took it back to what trick-or-treating in the 80s and 90s was really like, crowned the most Halloween-sounding song of all time, haunted houses, opened up a spooky mailbag, and so much more.⸻Today's episode was brought to you by Salty Water. It is the best the Devil wants, and who is better than the minister?” When we think of demonic possession, we think of random, wrong-place-wrong-time, bad luck of the draw happenstance. We don't think of the religiously devout, but maybe Arthur Miller was right - what better trophy for a demon than one of God's favorites. Which leads us to our first episode to kick off our Halloween season, the case that inspired the 2005 film The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the Possession of Annaliese Michel.

Tonight on Late Night Legends, Charlie leads us into the eerie, intoxicating, and terrifying history of the Rajneeshpuram cult of Oregon. Thousands of followers in crimson robes followed their guru into the desert, built a city, poisoned a town, and nearly rewrote history with the largest bioterror attack in America. But this episode is even more special—it's Ashley's very first show with us!
OLD-TIME RADIO ESSENTIALS Episode 52: Hancock's Half-Hour Old-Time Radio Essentials returns with episode 52, and as we continue Season 5, we present Paul's pick, an example of the BBC Radio comedy series Hancock's Half-Hour. Come for the old-time radio, stay for the scintillating (that's one way of putting it) discussion afterwards! As you listen, perhaps you'll learn if we feel this entry meets the following criteria: 1. Is it truly representative of that series? (Can anyone point to it and say, "Yes, that is what [NAME OF SERIES] was all about.") 2. Is it an episode worthy of inclusion in any and every OTR aficionado's private collection? So with this in mind, we three bring you, as our fifty-second number (but 3rd official episode of S5), this episode of Hancock's Half-Hour, from 1-11-56. We'll introduce the show, play it in its entirety, then discuss it at length. Thanks for joining us, and we hope you enjoy it! Please show your support of the podcast by doing any of the following... To comment on how we might improve OTR-E, or give suggestions for future discussions, please write to us at f6point3@gmail.com . Put the word "Essentials" in the subject line. Your feedback means a lot to us! A review at iTunes or at your usual podcatcher would be appreciated. Next Time: It's Pete's pick again, and also our annual Halloween Special! Pete's making it extra-special by inviting friend of the show and Essential Listener Jack Ward (Grand Poobah of the Mutual Audio Network) to be our guest programmer. At the time of recording we didn't know what Jack was going to bring us, but we're sure it's something spooky. Join us then, won't you?
