Gloucester played Hartpury in their final Premiership Cup home game and it was a bit of a stinker. A 7-7 draw with very little quality or entertainment, Jim and Ed give their very short reviews of the game and where we can find any positives. In the Six Nations, England snatched an improbable victory over a misfiring French side; Scotland once again crumbled in the face of a dominant Ireland and Wales' misery continues to a 14th straight defeat as Italy win back to back games in Rome.We chat through all the games plus the confirmation of Santi's departure to Bath.Ed PriceJames Eastwood (Snowy)Jim HarleyCherry Jam is kindly sponsored by PGT LLP
Gloucester regained the Slater Cup after a thrilling comeback win over Leicester at Kingsholm. It leaves the Cherry and Whites in 3rd place as the Premiership breaks for the Six Nations. We chat through the game, the key moments and the performances by so many players across the squad. Once again Santi was awarded Player of the Match by TNT and his future continues to be in doubt as there are strong rumours he may depart for Bath at the end of the season. The lads weigh up that and all the other transfer news and rumours including the confirmed re-signings before checking in on Glos-Hartpury's weekend - which couldn't have gone much better (Despite not playing). Finally we do a little preview of the Six Nations. Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) Russ Brookes Jim Harley Cherry Jam is delighted to be sponsored by PGT LLP.
Another bumper episode this week as Ed speaks with Deputy Sports Editor for City AM (and fellow Gloucester supporter) Matt Hardy about rugby, business and how clubs interact with journalists and the press. As usual, the lads also chat through the weekends results and another good result at home for Gloucester - this time over Scarlets in the Challenge Cup. We discuss the performance, where it leads the Cherry and Whites in terms of qualification for the knockouts and the improving defence. We also discuss Glos-Hartpury returning to the top of the PWR with a hard fought win over Loughborough Lightning as friend of the pod, Zoe Aldcroft, is appointed as Red Roses captain. Ed Price Jim Harley Matt Hardy Cherry Jam is kindly sponsored by PGT LLP.
A bumper episode this week as Gloucester and Glos-Hartpury secured excellent wins against Sale and Bristol respectively. We discuss the performances and the importance of both victories and what it could mean for the rest of the season. Also in this weeks pod are our thoughts on the 2025/26 Membership available to Gloucester supporters, the value, the innovative ideas and where we could see improvements. Finally, we do comment on the controversy around Kirill (who has our full support). Cherry Jam is proud to be sponsored by PGT LLP. Ed Price Jim Harley Russ Brookes
After the devastating news from a few weeks ago we pay tribute to Tom Voyce - we would like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends. RIP Tom. In this weeks pod we ask Jim about his Vannes trip and whether the weekend made up for the game. We then chat through an excellent win and 'nilling' of Harlequins at home; the great performances throughout the team but why it isn't the complete performance others may have mentioned. Finally we discuss the Glos-Hartpury win away to Exeter and why it was so good to see a return to form live on Youtube. Cherry Jam is delighted to be sponsored for the rest of this season by Pitt Godden & Taylor LLP. Ed Price Jim Harley Russ Brookes
Gloucester won their opening pool game of this seasons Challenge Cup against Edinburgh. It was an ugly win in difficult conditions (not the most entertaining match but a good result in the end). We chat through the game as well as all the weekends action and why its becoming more of a stretch for the average supporter to catch all the games they might want to. We also discuss Glos-Hartpury's return to winning ways before we answer some of your 'Listener questions': What is our go-to pint on match day? What have been Gloucester's most challenging weather experiences? Finally, we wanted to pay tribute to a former guest of this podcast and a devout Gloucester Rugby supporter - Tom Morris. Tom was one of the driving forces of Progressive Rugby, helping bring much needed attention to the issue of concussion in the game and its impact on players health. Tom sadly passed away at the end of November after a short battle with cancer. All our thoughts go out to Tom's family and friends. RIP Tom. You will be missed. Ed Price Jim Harley Thank you again to Wynn Homes for their kind sponsorship of this week's podcast.
Last season's demons following the 90-0 defeat to Northampton Saints were banished as Gloucester won a superb victory away to he current Premiership champions. We discuss the performance, the improvements in overall attitude and the importance of backing this up during the next bank of league fixtures. We also chat about Gloucester-Hartpury's disappointing narrow defeat to Bristol, the small margins that have led to the three defeats this season and why we feel confident that they can still finish in the top four. There is also a conversation around the potential for a Linear World Championship trophy, European preview and Jim's plans for Vannes. Ed Price Jim Harley Russ Brookes Lawrence Landray Big thanks to Wynn Homes for their kind sponsorship. https://www.wynnhomes.co.uk/
Mo's travelled to Wales this week to visit Hartpury's rivals, Cardiff Met. Twenty three of the squad are going to be competing in the Celtic Challenge this December, so she's gone to find out what's in the water over the Severn Bridge... Mo's joined by Lisa Newton, Head Coach at Cardiff Met, recently retired Wales & Bristol fly half, Elinor Snowsill, who is now Assistant Coach at the uni & Alisha Joyce-Butchers, Wales & Bristol back row, who is mentoring one of the squad, as part of GSR & Vodafone's EmpowHER programme. Their debate about who Wales' next Head Coach should be isn't to be missed…
Gloucester finished their first bank of league fixtures with a well deserved win over Newcastle Falcons. We chat through the game, the key performances and the most important thing a much improved defence. We also discuss the frustration and feelings of a missed opportunity as England lose out to the All Blacks. It also was a week where the Haka was again brought into focus with some ill-advised comments from Joe Marler (who has announced his retirement from International Rugby). Finally Jim and Ed run over the weekends results for Gloucester, opening their defence of the Premiership Cup against Hartpury, while Glos-Hartpury got back to winning ways against Sale.
Broken record time. Once again a superb first 40 with excellent tries and attacking play wasn't enough as Gloucester's second half woes continue away to Leicester in the Slater Cup. We chat through the match, the encouraging signs that some of the issues are starting to be resolved plus the frustration that some persist. We also discuss Glos-Hartpury's first home defeat in two seasons and how actually it might be a blessing in disguise. Finally we go through the Women's Rugby World Cup groups, the tickets and the excellent planning that is behind the fixtures - before we preview the Newcastle fixture. Ed Price Jim Harley
After a superb first 40 where the Cherry and Whites scored two more contenders for try of the season, Bath proved too much in the second half helped by a worryingly porous defence. We chat through the game, the performances and highlight the possible reasons for the continued issues with the defence. We also discuss Glos-Hartpury's win away to Quins, the Red Roses back to back triumphs in the WXV and preview the Leicester game on Saturday Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) Jim Harley Russ Brookes
After a week off because the Internet in Northern Cyprus is a little temperamental, we are back to discuss the superb if nerve jangling win over Bristol Bears followed by the slightly disappointing defeat away to Sale (despite securing two bonus points). The lads chat through the vast improvements seen in our attacking play, picking out the notable performances and players while also addressing the continued nagging issue of the defence (which is average at best). We also discuss the start of Glos-Hartpury's bid for a Three-peat of title wins, the fall out from the shock resignation of the head of PWR and preview the Gloucester Bath match this weekend. Ed Price Russ Brookes Jim Harley
Sam is back again for another episode of TWRS Weekly where this week we talk BUCS Women's Super Rugby, Barbarians and also hear from the Wallaroos camp. We chat to Hartpury's Lowri Davies following their opening BUCS game in the newly named BUCS Women's Super Rugby against Edinburgh. We also speak to Abi Meyrick following her 'trip of a lifetime' to Cape Town with the Barbarians. And finally we heard from Jo Yapp - Australia's head coach - ahead of their game against Wales.
We're back for one final time in the 2023/24 Championship campaign as we look towards naming our Podcast Team of the Season this Friday! We've amassed a huge list of contenders which Ross Hancock and Charlie Beckett dissect in this latest episode - it's been another cracking season of Championship rugby! They also look back on the final round of fixtures as Cornish Pirates and Hartpury both secured their highest second-tier finishes, plus praise for the Champions who signed off in style on home soil.
A bumper issue as Championship Rugby prepares to bring the curtain down on another fantastic season this weekend. Delighted to welcome one of Ealing's integral members of their champions squad, Reuben Bird-Tulloch to talk to Charlie Beckett about the importance of English rugby's second-tier and excitement to lift the trophy for the second time in three seasons. As usual, we also have the traditional preview/review from Charlie and host, Ross Hancock - including some strong opinion across the board. We wish Charlie all the best as he prepares for his final Championship appearance tomorrow when bringing the curtain down on a fantastic career as Doncaster travel to Hartpury.
Firstly an apology as we have decided to leave a lot more of the swearing in this weeks pod, but we are sure you understand why. Gloucester lose another league game, this time to Exeter Chiefs, but it was the manner of the defeat and the apparent contempt shown to the Season ticket holders that grates most. Four very angry Cherry Jammers discuss the match, the atmosphere at Kingsholm, where this leaves George Skivington and whether a defeat to Benetton would spell the end of his now 91 league game tenure. We also try to lighten the mood by chatting through a great win for Glos-Hartpury in the 3rd/4th playoff of the Allianz Cup; another Grand-Slam for the Red Roses and what Billy Vunipola gets up to on a night out in Majorca. Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) aka Angry Caller Jim Harley Russ Brookes
A few weeks since our last Pod and we're delighted to be joined by Chinnor back row forward, Max Clementson to discuss the Oxfordshire club's imminent arrival in Championship Rugby. The former Hartpury man has helped Chinnor into the second-tier for the very first time, after they secured the National One title in victory over Birmingham Moseley two weeks ago. He spoke to Charlie Beckett about the title winning campaign, excitement to be back in the Champ, and the challenges that await in 24/25. Elsewhere, Charlie and host, Ross Hancock review the previous few rounds of action, as well as shout outs for two players making the journey to the top flight next season having signed for Bristol Bears.
After five long years of generally seeing England put in average performances (all be it, with some good results) finally a performance to be proud of as the men in white ruined Ireland's Grand Slam dreams. The lads chat through all the Six Nations action, including Italy's deserved win over Scotland and a resurgent French side hammering Wales. Meanwhile we also chat through Gloucester-Hartpury securing a home semi final with yet another win, this time over former Champions Harlequins. Finally we preview the Premiership Final this Friday at Kingsholm. Ed Price Russ Brookes Jim Harley
A hard fought win for Gloucester over defending Champions Exeter means the Cherry and Whites have reached their first Final since 2018 - a win for Leicester away to Ealing, means that Kingsholm will be the venue. We discuss the performances, the win and how the cup competitions continue to give us hope for the season. The lads also chat through the England A squad announcement, the u18's Finals Day, rumours and important re-signings plus Glos-Hartpury making it 10 out of 10 in the league to finally reach the top this season. Ed Price Lawrence Landray Jim Harley Russ Brookes
Another superb comeback for Gloucester Hartpury as they overturn a large second half deficit to beat local rivals Bristol. Jim takes us through the game and the importance of keeping this unbeaten run going. Elsewhere, in the Six Nations, England managed to sneak a win over a young Wales side, Ireland eased passed a disappointing Italy while Scotland were robbed of a last second win over a disjointed France by a very controversial TMO decision. The main part of the pod though this week is our discussion around ideas that could improve the game as a whole. Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) Lawrence Landray Jim Harley
Just when we thought we would be having a relatively quiet few weeks discussing the Six Nations and the Glos-Hartpury women's fixtures, news broke of potential Saudi investment into Gloucester and three other Premiership clubs. The guys give their honest opinions on the issue, before chatting through Gloucester-Hartpury's incredible comeback win over Leicester Tigers Women, the Six Nations week one results and why we were definitely robbed at the Sports Podcast Awards. Finally our deepest apologies go out to all of our American listeners, we promise the NFL chat will get better!
After a week off due to Ed not having a voice following the victory up in a cold Edinburgh, the boys are back and for once are generally happy! We chat through both victories and a much better performance against an all be it weakened French opposition. Could this be the catalyst for a win in the league over Sale Sharks? We also mull over Glos-Hartpury's excellent victory over Saracens at Kingsholm and the shock news that Superstar winger Louis Rees-Zammit is leaving Rugby Union with immediate effect and heading to the NFL.
After two more defeats in the league, Gloucester have now equalled the worst run in the Premiership for the club of consecutive losses. Are there any positives to pull out (other than four losing bonus points)? What next for George Skivington and the rest of the coaches? Will the Bath game be where we pull the plug? We discuss the performances and the results, in contrast to more success for the Glos-Hartpury Womens team. Jim chats through his BIG GAME experience at Twickenham and we also ask where have all the stats gone from the Premiership website? Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) Jim Harley
Two successive wins in Europe have given the club a bit of positivity after a few disappointing weeks. We chat through the victories over Clermont and Black Lion, while also discussing the reworking by the club and local band Tux Fizz of "We are the Glo'ster Boys", the (sort of) return of the Cherryettes and Glos-Hartpury's excellent start to their season. Ed Price Jim Harley
My guest this week is my former Esher RFC teammate, Jamie Gibbs. This interview was recorded in November of 2023 and we talked about his time at Hartpury and how it shaped his club career, a fantastic and fun time at Esher RFC where he grew as a player within a strong group of scrum-halves, a short, ill-fated spell with Ealing Trailfinders, before finding the love again at Richmond RFC with their refreshing community feel. Jamie then shares his experience of playing and coaching for Stow-on-the-Wold RFC and becoming a viral sensation. It's going to get better soon isn't it? Until then, we have to cope with yet another poor performance and big defeat at home. We chat through the latest loss to Leicester Tigers and try and find any positives from one of the more disappointing displays in a long time. However, we are cheered by the continuing brilliance of Gloucester-Hartpury as they started the defence of their League title with a thumping bonus point win over Leicester women. We also chat through the two victories over the weekend against Hartpury and Barbarians respectively. Finally we discuss the issues facing Jersey Reds as English Rugby maintains its standard crisis mode. Ed Price James Eastwood (Snowy) Jim Harley

Join Elizabeth and Sinead in this exciting conversation on sourcing and producing talented horses.
Gloucester-Hartpury overcame their West Country rivals Bristol to make it to their first Premiership final. We discuss the performance, what it means for Gloucester Rugby generally and why you just have to get a ticket! Meanwhile, London Irish have unfortunately become the third club to fail and disappear this season. We chat through the implications and where our sympathies lie. Finally, as the first squads are announced for the World Cup, we discuss Zach Mercer's inclusion. (Note, we did have a good 15 min rant about the ridiculous decision to exclude Val - then he ended up being in the squad, so we will save that one for another day!) Ed Price Russ Brookes Jim Harley
We review the two Premiership Semi's and discuss whether we can hope to see Gloucester match the intensity required next season. The lads also chat through the cost of the final tickets - are they an unnecessary barrier to supporters attending the show piece event. All this as London Irish are edging ever closer to oblivion as the RFU give a deadline of 30th May for their takeover to be completed. Finally, we do bite the bullet and discuss the second half of the season review, before we preview the Glos-Hartpury game against Quins Ladies and next weeks exciting pod! Mochara is a relatively young brand, launching just before Covid, but in that time, Tara and her team have made a big impression on the equestrian industry, and on today's episode, I find out all about the idea behind the brand, plans for the future, and more. The idea for Mochara came to Tara when she was studying at Hartpury and needed clothes to take her from horses to going out to the gym... and everything else too. Not a fan of heavily branded items, Tara started to research the market and created the Mochara brand. Since this time, the brand has weathered (and grown) during a global pandemic, had huge shows, and is now looking for investment, and Mochara is tackling this issue in a rather brilliant, slightly unusual, way.
Helen is the third generation of her family to farm at Longridge Farm in Gloucestershire, which is 100 acres in area. The influential Hartpury 10/12 faced some stiff competition to retain the jersey from last season with others from the top four sides also in the discussion. In the end, the soon to be Bristol Bear did retain his spot in another fantastic campaign from a personal perspective, pipping the likes of Will Maisey, Sam Olver and Russell Bennett to the top of the points tally.
