Is your handgun training falling short? In this episode, hosts Brent Wheat and Roy Huntington break down the massive benefits of pushing your target back to 100 yards. While some popular online voices claim that shooting beyond 3-5 yards is a waste of time, Brent and Roy explain why distance is the ultimate truth-teller for your marksmanship. Listen as they discuss how long-range handgun practice forces you to slow down, refine your trigger control, and master your sight picture. Whether you are an enthusiast or a professional, discover why adding distance to your routine will make you a significantly more capable shooter up close. Stop falling for the hype and start training for reality. Key Takeaways ·         Shooting at longer distances (25-100 yards) forces you to slow down and focus on fundamental marksmanship. ·         Long-range practice exposes flaws in trigger control, sight alignment, and breathing that go unnoticed at close range. ·         Developing proficiency at distance builds the confidence and skill needed to perform under pressure at any distance. ·         Don't fall for the '3-yard only' trend; professional operators train with duty pistols at much greater distances for a reason. ·         If you want to be a well-rounded shooter, you must combine close-in speed drills with precision distance shooting. ·         Always verify information—even from us—by testing it for yourself on the range! -- The GunsPodcastUS is presented by Holosun. Congratulations - you finished your piece! Well done! It's time to take a breather and relax before you get onto the next piece. But that's the problem. What piece is your next piece? How can you choose one that you like, that is a challenge but not too hard, and one that you can finish in a reasonable amount of time so that you still like it when it's done? If you're currently working with a teacher or coach, you know you can rely on their expert advice as you choose your next piece. But if you're trying to make this choice on your own, it can seem daunting. There are so many wonderful pieces, how could any harpist possibly choose?  This is a topic that we all deal with repeatedly, so I thought it might be a good time for us to revisit a podcast I aired over a year ago, on May 5, 2025, Cinco de Mayo actually. I wouldn't mention Cinco de Mayo, except that it played a role in that episode, as I suggested five categories of pieces you could consider, just as a way to narrow the field somewhat. These categories are still relevant, and I know they will be helpful for you now, if you're nearing a decision point about new music. But I've also added a little bit to the end of the episode, two brand-new ideas (at least new to my podcast) than can help you clarify your choices even more by helping you plan not just your next piece but your entire practice strategy and creating more of a sense of direction with your choices.  It's al about making decisions and these new frameworks should help. First you'll hear the replay of episode 207, and then stay tuned for the new decision frameworks I want to teach you. Summary Courtney Teasley, a criminal trial attorney turned certified business coach, author, and speaker, joins Kathryn Rubino to talk about the case that shaped her career: her own mother's, overcharged as a drug seller instead of a user. Courtney traces how that experience, and a mentor who built a practice on her own terms, pushed her into criminal defense and, eventually, out of full-time practice. The conversation covers why she left the courtroom for coaching and advocacy work, the business lessons law school never taught her, and how her book series, The Easy Way to Learn Your Rights, translates legal literacy into plain, bilingual language for the people who need it most. Key Takeaways Courtney traces her path to criminal defense directly back to her mother being overcharged as a drug seller instead of a user, a decision that shaped how she practices and teaches law. The pressure of high-stakes cases never fully disappears; the lawyers who care the most are the ones who keep showing up despite it. Courtney left full-time practice after realizing one-on-one casework moves too slowly to shift the systemic patterns behind mass incarceration. A CliftonStrengths certification helped Courtney separate her zone of excellence, practicing law, from her zone of genius, teaching and advocacy. Courtney built her book series and coaching practice around plain, bilingual language, arguing legal jargon keeps clients from understanding their own cases. Their products use clinically proven ingredients, are tested before and after formulation, and they donate vitamins to needy kids. Maybe more importantly, their products do what they say they're going to do. Listen to this feedback about Joint Health Plus! "My ankle and knee pain was completely gone in a week. Amazing!" - Kim "I thought I was on the verge of having to give up running due to severe hip pain and luckily discovered Previnex - complete game changer for me!" - Anna "I am so grateful for Joint Health Plus! As a certified fitness professional and still an extremely active, competitive amateur athlete, I was getting discouraged with an increase in pain simply kneeling down, or bending down to the floor and getting back up while assisting clients, or in my own training! Once deciding to give this product a try, I was floored when I finally noticed I was not bracing in anticipation of pain when I had to kneel down; not whincing in discomfort upon standing! Thank you, Prevenix!" - Jessica Joint Health Plus is so powerful because the main active ingredient is clinically proven to reduce joint pain, reduce joint stiffness, and improve joint flexibility in just 7-10 days. It's also clinically proven, not just tested, but actually proven in double-blinded, placebo- controlled studies to protect joint cartilage from breaking down during exercise. You can get 15% off your first Previnex purchase by using code jason15 at checkout. Visit previnex.com. Previnex offers a 30-day money back guarantee where if you don't feel benefits on their product you get your money back no questions asked. And keep sending in those testimonials. They fire me up! Thank you MOBO Board! Invented by renowned physical therapist Jay Dicharry, MOBO helps you stabilize your stance with an innovative rocker board that's set up on two fins. The design effectively forces you to drive your big toe into the board to improve your stability. I was pretty arrogant going into my first session on the MOBO Board. How hard can it be to balance, right? Well, I was humbled pretty quickly! Even if you're a good runner, better balance, stability, and proprioception is going to help you have a more powerful stride and prevent more running injuries. You'll learn how to improve the efficiency of the kinetic chain from your hip to your big toe. Because as Jay likes to say, it's not just how strong you are, but how well you use that strength.
