Q&A on the film The Featherweight with director Robert Kolodny, actor & producer James Madio and cast Ruby Wolf and Keir Gilchrist. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company. Set in 1964, a camera crew follows Willie Pep, retired featherweight boxing champion. Down and out in Hartford CT, married to a woman half his age and with a drug-addled son and mounting debts, Pep decides to make a return to the ring.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT “For my first feature I wanted to make something interesting, funny, and heartfelt with a real independent film sensibility similar to films I loved growing up in the 80s and 90s. I see the film as an anti-rom com of sorts and wanted it to feel timeless. The casting was crucial to create the tone of the film and the characters that drive the story. The entire cast was amazing to work with. It felt like a never-ending summer camp on set. I hope that the audience is entertained, amused, touched and most of all enjoy the ride before it's over.” Filmmaker Daniel André FILMMAKER BIOGRAPHY Daniel André is a filmmaker, artist, and music producer born in Cuernavaca, Mexico and raised in NJ, just outside New York City. Our first week for HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST (in which we discuss a different horror movie every weekday) is all about getting physical. Sex, Romance, Seduction and all of the consequences. Today's discussion is a resonating sleeper hit from 2014 directed by David Robert Mitchell in which a young girl finds herself constantly pursued by something after sleeping with a boy. She's the only one that can see it and it can look like anybody. It's slow but constant and you don't want to know what happens if it catches you. We're talking about one of the best horror movies of the 2010s in David Robert Mitchell's 2014 film “It Follows” starring Maika Monroe and Keir Gilchrist. It doesn't matter what part of Detroit you live in. It's coming for you and you better hook up with somebody quick before it gets you. I would go to the bottom of the ocean and fuck a starfish but thats just me. Maybe a Mermaid or a Giant Squid. Let's see “It” try to get at one of those things. Check and mate. Writer and comedian Joe Wengert (Big Mouth) helps us kick off the scary season with a discussion of the 2014 horror film IT FOLLOWS starring Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, and Daniel Zovatto. David Robert Mitchell wrote and directed this low budget thriller about a malevolent supernatural entity that passes through sexual encounters. An evocative metaphor for STDs and teenage sexual anxiety, IT FOLLOWS turned out to be a box office success, inaugurating a new era of stylish indie thrillers. Follow our conversation through a circuitous path into typical MNAM diversions such as Ghostbusters, Father Stu, young parents, Dwayne Johnson's diet, Force Majeure, Doritos and much, much more! IT FOLLOWS is currently available to stream on Netflix.
Written and directed by Robert David Mitchell. Starring Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Olivia Luccardi and Lili Sepe.
The 2010's was a tremendous decade for horror. It saw the genre's greatest commercial success, audience adulation, and critical appreciation. It Follows sits smack in the middle of that trend. As 2015's indie horror du jour, it dominated twitter arguments and dorm-room debates for the better part of a year. On this episode, Nat and Ben unpack the film's surprising popularity, born out of a keen sense of style and a strong directorial voice. Oh, and they also go on several tangents about Star Wars.Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTokFollow Nat and Ben on LetterboxdEmail us at bttmpod@gmail.comAnd please, give us a 5-star review and share the podcast with your movie-loving friends!

Caitlin is joined by Chase and Elizabeth to talk about a darling of the horror community, 2014's It Follows. This episode has a rousing debate, because I find the main character a bit of a pick-me, and Chase holds me to task and challenges my assumptions about the movie. Elizabeth proposes some great questions about the movie's logistics and what we would do in this scenario. We can all agree on one thing: the soundtrack slaps. Disasterpiece did right by this movie.

What a new and inventive film concept in a contemporary world that seems riddled with remakes. This one for me was cinematography heavy since I was being such a nerd about it. There were so many different layers to this film and it was the direction, music, and the story that brought it together. Me, Jules, and Jai talk our fav creepiest "It" encounters, the nondescript but cool fashion, and how we're all OBSESSED with the score. This is a great episode and a cool look into the career of somebody who is creating art from two very different places and finding success at both. #keirgilchrist #actor #atypical #netflixatypical #deathmetal #grindcore #crust #metalvocalist The Anyway Whatever Podcast has a new shirt store at Warlord Clothing https://www.warlordclothing.com/anywaywhateverStickers, Buttons, etc can be found at www.anywaywhateverpodcast.bigcartel.com Patreon www.patreon.com/AnywayWhateverPodcastAll episodes can always be found atwww.anywaywhatever.com-------------------------------------------------------Gear Used To Make this Podcast:Canon Eos M50https://amzn.to/3nPFYqYSandisk portable drive (highly recommended)https://amzn.to/2LN5IHkSure SM48 Mic (low cost mic with great sound.)https://amzn.to/2KqtOHkMic Standhttps://amzn.to/35PmDjCFocusrite Scarlett 18i8 Preamphttps://amzn.to/2KpUQyvAtomos Ninja 5” monitor (This item was “extravagant” buy for the show but is invaluable all the same) https://amzn.to/3bQiorHThe BEST Tripodhttps://amzn.to/3bQiorH---------------------------------------------------------All of my Podcast episodes are to be taken with a grain of salt. Q&A with actor/writer/director Peter Facinelli on past and upcoming projects including The Vanished, The Unbreakable Boy, Breaking and Exiting, Loosies and more. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company. With a myriad of credits under his belt, Facinelli is likely most recognized for his starring role as Doctor Carlisle Cullen in the blockbuster TWILIGHT franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer's #1 New York Times best selling literary series. Next up for Facinelli is the STX film COUNTDOWN starring opposite Elizabeth Lail, P.J. Byrne, and Jordan Calloway, as well as the feature THE VANISHED, which he wrote and directed starring Anne Heche, Thomas Jane, and Jason Patric. Facinelli made his directorial debut last year in the indie feature “Breaking and Exiting,” starring Jordan Hinson and Milo Gibson. Recently Facinelli wrapped RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL starring opposite Nicolas Cage, Laurence Fishburne, and Leslie Bibb, and also starred in the Timothy Woodward Jr. 1920's mobster pic GANGSTER LAND, the thriller ASHER, opposite Famke Janssen, Ron Perlman and Richard Dreyfuss, Damian Harris' indie feature THE WILDE WEDDING opposite John Malkovich and Glenn Close, as well as the Chris Silverton thriller HEARTTHROB starring Lone Skye and Keir Gilchrist.

--- A Corrente do Mal (It Follows), 2014. Direção: David Robert Mitchell. Elenco: Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Lili Sepe, Olivia Luccardi e Jake Weary. EUA. --- Obras e temas mencionados: The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock – T.S. Episode Notes GQ and Doc gush about the modern classic, It Follows, directed by David Robert Mitchell and released in 2014. It's a deceptively simple film in terms of plot, but layered in a way that rewards critical consideration. While a relatively recent film, both Doc and GQ feel it deserves its place among the other classics talked about on season one of Sounds Scary. Starring Bailey Spry, Keir Gilchrist, Maika Monroe, and Lili Sepe. Two Good Scares: The Devil's Candy and Train to Busan. www.soundsscarypodcast.com

Actor Keir Gilchrist (United States of Tara, It Follows, Atypical, the new drama Castle in the Ground) indulges his love of archaeology with Werner Herzog’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams, a 3D look at French cave paintings that is, at its heart, still a Werner Herzog project. Your genial host Norm Wilner is happy to explore … Continue reading Keir Gilchrist on Cave of Forgotten Dreams →

Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast! This is a week of salt, sadness, and questions. The Safety Fire are coming back? The new Lychgate is awesome? Devin Townsend reacts to Fountainhead? Then a bunch of discussion about metal's self-image in the mainstream spurred by the recent article about Atypical star Keir Gilchrist being in a death metal band. Then we have a series of trains of thoughts about the evolution of an artist's rendition of music through time, Sumeriancore bands, and more. Then, cool people time with Picard, Void Bastards and Samurai Jack. Enjoy!
Brenna and Joe are feeling a little "Under Pressure" so we're taking a mental health break with Ned Vizzini's 2006 novel It's Kind of a Funny Story and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck's 2010 adaptation, starring Keir Gilchrist (Brenna's favourite!), as well as Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts.Brenna struggles to grapple with the disconnect between the hopefulness of the book and the real life circumstances of Vizzini's passing as we discuss the way readings of a book change due to context. There's also discussion of how the film acts as both a faithful adaptation and simultaneously changes the fundamental purpose and tone of its source material by becoming a "wacky, feel good" film about mental health. In homework: Brenna laments the cancellation of Anne with an E, which spirals into a conversation about the state of Canadian television and - more specifically - co-productions with Netflix.Want to connect with the show? MOVIE REVIEW: In the first episode of Cinematic Doctrine, I review It Follows. However, due to the content of this film, I felt it important to elaborate on my thoughts about adult content in a narrative. Adult content can include sexual content, nudity, pervasive language, graphic violence, and anything that might seem overly uncomfortable. I also discuss how film as a medium is unique to other types of storytelling such as photography, books, etc. Afterward, I (finally) talk about some fascinating trivia regarding the production of It Follows and contemplate its themes both on what the film seems to be saying, and what David Robert Mitchell wanted to say when he conceived the project. If you'd like to hear only my thoughts on the film and not a mini-dissertation on adult content, skip to about 9 minutes in. I have tagged this episode as EXPLICIT due to the nature of the discussion and the rating of the film reviewed. It Follows is Rated R for disturbing violent and sexual content including graphic nudity, and language. It features Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, and Daniel Zovatto. Directed by David Robert Mitchell. Tune in Wednesday nights for new episodes of Cinematic Doctrine! Welcome to Everything Trying to Kill You, the comedy podcast that talks about horror movies, and Happy Valentines/Horniest-Day-of-the-Year! In episode 34 about David Robert Mitchell’s 2014 film, It Follows, your hosts (Mary Kay, Mary, and Maegan) answer important questions like these:What beer should Maegan have immediately after delivering her first child? What’s the weirdest pickup that ever worked for you or on you? What’s the weirdest FAIL? What is the point of this movie? And what is the “it” that follows, which we are supposed to be afraid of? How does this movie invert the final girl trope? If we’re supposed to be afraid of sex to fill emotional voids, why is the best move to have sex with people who has a lot of sex, and would pass it on immediately? Can we talk about “also, probably the patriarchy?” Did you feel like this film was slut-shaming? Or that it was biased on gender? What exactly qualifies as “having sex?” Is it just vaginal penetration? Does the demon recognize same-sex intercourse as “passing it on?” How can I get rid of the demon? If I REALLY want to get rid of it, and I rape someone, does that count? Who is the most attractive baby man on Dawson’s Creek? How terrible is Jeff/Hugh? What about Greg? What did you think about the friend group as a whole? Is Florida better than prison? Did you like the costuming? How does Jay decide whom to fuck? What is the definition of consensual sex? How is important to Jay’s story that it’s not just buyer’s remorse? If you are initiating the sex, can it be consensual if your life is on the line? What do pools have to do with the set? What are the other homages to classic horror? Why is that lit professor teaching T.S. Eliot’s “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock?” What does the intended audience have to do with these cultural allusions? In the end, does It follow them?It Follows (2014) – Directed and written by David Robert Mitchell. Performances by Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Olivia Luccardi Genre: Horror, Revenge, Thriller, Suspense, Supernatural Where to watch: AmazonSummary: For nineteen-year-old Jay, Autumn should be about school, boys and week-ends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, something, is following her. This week on The Harold & Maudecast we review The Good Neighbor starring James Caan and recap FX Network's Taboo, Episode 4, starring Tom Hardy. The Good Neighbor is a psychological thriller about a pair of mischievous high school kids (Logan Miller, Keir Gilchrist) who create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor (James Caan). While keeping his every reaction under surveillance, they see much more than they bargained for, and discover that the man they're tormenting is not the easy target they'd expected. In Taboo episode 4 we find our (anti) hero James Delaney fending of more would be assassins, taking a chemistry lesson, orchestrating heists, saving the not-so-damsel in distress step-mother, and dancing around the tension with his sister. The exciting and sometimes gruesome episode ends with an invitation to duel to the death. Take a listen and stay tuned for Episode 5 recap!
