Contributor: Jason Papazian MD, Travis Barlock MD, Jeffrey Olson Summary: In this episode, Dr. Travis Barlock and Jeffrey Olson meet in the studio to discuss several clips from Dr. Jason Papazian's talk at the event “Laboring Under Pressure, Managing Obstetric Emergencies in a Global Setting” from May 2023. This event was hosted at the University of Denver and was organized with the help of Joe Parker as a fundraiser for the organization Health Outreach Latin America (HOLA). Dr. Jason Papazian practices Obstetric Anesthesiology for the Maternal Fetal Care Unit at Children's Hospital Colorado. He is the Assistant Program Director of Didactics for the Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Colorado, as well as the Faculty Advisor to Residents and Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellows. During his talk, Dr. Papazian walks the audience through the steps of a maternal cardiac arrest from initial rapid response, to intubation, CPR, ACLS, and eventually emergency cesarean section. Some important take-away points from this talk are: The basics save lives. Focus on oxygenating the patient and providing high quality CPR In order to maximize blood return during CPR on an obstetric patient, manually retract the gravid uterus to the left If an arresting mother does not obtain return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 4 minutes, the most qualified person should perform a rapid 1-minute bedside cesarean section. This has mortality benefits for both the mother and the infant. Other medical topics discussed include changes in the obstetric patient's physiology, roles during a rapid response, steps of intubation, causes of cardiac arrest, management of cardiac arrest, and how pregnancy does (and doesn't) change ACLS. Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive neuroimaging method beneficial for the identification of normal developmental and aging processes and data sharing. Marmosets have a relatively shorter life expectancy (approximately 10 years) than other primates, including, humans because they grow and age faster. Hence, the common marmoset model is effective in aging research. The current study investigated the aging process of the marmoset brain and provided an open MRI database on marmosets with a wide age range. The Brain/MINDS Marmoset Brain MRI Dataset contains brain MRI information on 216 marmosets aged between 1 and 10 years. During its release date, it is the largest public dataset worldwide. Further, it comprises multi contrast MRI images. In addition, 91 of 216 animals have corresponding ex vivo high-resolution MRI datasets. Our MRI database, which is available at the Brain/MINDS Data portal might help understand the effects of different factors, such as age, sex, body size, and fixation, on the brain. Moreover, it can contribute to and accelerate brain science studies worldwide. Copy rights belong to original authors. Visit the link for more info Podcast created by PaperPlayer

At an amount of approximately $10,000 per year, these funds will go directly toward helping SCW preserve the quality of the drinking water in Sebago Lake.Portland draws its water from Sebago Lake, located just northwest of the city. One out of six Mainers (more than 200,000 people) and Maine’s fastest growing businesses depend on Sebago Lake for their drinking water. The lake supplies 22 million gallons of clean drinking water per day. That clean water is largely due to the forests that surround the lake—84% of the 234,000-acre Sebago watershed is covered by forests. The goal of the SCW and Allagash partnership is to conserve more forests surrounding the lakes, streams, and rivers that feed Sebago Lake. Currently, only 10% of Sebago watershed forests is permanently conserved.Paul Hunt, the Portland Water District’s Environmental Services Manager said “Sebago Lake is so pure that it is one of only 50 public surface water supplies in the entire country that require no filtration before treatment. “The forests are the natural filtration plant for Sebago Lake. Keeping it clean and naturally filtered like this means that our water is safer, less expensive, and tastes better than if the lake were degraded and we had to filter it artificially.”Craft Beer Storm Website: www.craftbeerstorm.com If your Company, Hotel or Restaurant wants to book a CraftBeer Weekend or Craft Beer Evening for your guests or employees send an email to Michael@craftbeerstorm.com Subscribe to Craft Beer Storm Podcast iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/craft-beer-storm/id1438117278?mt=2Support ACS In NYC Marathon“32K In 64 days” - I signed up for the NYC Marathon through the American Cancer Society and I am aiming to raise $32,000 ($3,200 Minimum X 10X) - please follow link below to donate what you can - $25, $50, $30K! - Onward... - Here is link –http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=94035&pg=personal&px=49477898&fbclid=IwAR2mBEvhF1wMA_BbHPhkavichNSFrE9Y9gi2RVZzfQ_4Da5Sht7gvH9rY_k*** A Top 20 Podcast in Food on iTunes ***Michael Potorti is the Host of Craft Beer Storm and Founder/Brewer at Beara Brewing Co. in Portsmouth, NH*** Interested in starting your own brewery? For his PhD thesis at Oxford, Hrag Papazian looked into the understanding of Armenian identity and Armenianness in Turkey, namely the Christian Armenians, the migrant community from the Republic of Armenia and the Muslim and Alevi Armenians. Papazian says the constructs of identity between these three Armenian communities do not coincide and can often be contradictory.
In this episode the guys go on a "journey" with fellow comedian Ryan Papazian. Josh has beef with dudes that wear sandals, Ryan has beef with society and Gerardo used to be a mime.
We join Hrag Papazian to discuss the Armenian government’s new flat tax proposal and all its implications.
Mihran Papazian is the CEO of Brushette, a company that plans to revolutionize…toothbrushes! In a rare episode, we cover what it’s like creating a physical product, from the deep research they did, to visiting over 1,000 factories in China to find the right manufacturing partner. PODCAST: Salute to Charlie Papazian, the godfather of homebrewing, with craft beer tastings and news It's another small batch podcast from Home Brew Rock Stars where we dive in short form and discuss the Papazian influence on home brewing and celebrate Charlie's retirement! It wasn’t just Papazian’s expertise that he had honed since that first homebrewing experience in in 1970, that resonated with readers. It was also his light and humorous tone, making learning about homebrewing fun, peppered by those words became a kind of catchphrase for Papazian, “Relax. Don’t worry. Have a homebrew”. The crew also talks beer news regarding MillerCoors bailing out on the Beer Alliance after Bud Light’s Corn Syrup Ads during the Super Bowl. Hey, either you put corn syrup in your beer, or you put rice in it...who cares. The gist is the beer alliance was supposed to be a big effort to compete with the 11 billion servings the big beer companies lost to wine and spirits last year. OUCH!...that might take some healing. (just rub corn syrup on it) We sample some craft beer from Pig Minds' Southy Bitch Slap, now in the cans, and a delish double IPA w/Sorachi Ace Hops from Pipeworks called Just Drink Dummy, and not to forget Kent's very impressive Brown Ale as he finally gets the brew set up back up and running from a recent move. Finally, we sample some rock stars from the music world called Trapper Schoeppand the Shades A hearty SQUEAL to Pig Minds Brewing Co. and Artele & Co. for their awesome support and sponsorship! #drinkitup

Ironman athletes are considered to be the strongest and most endurant human beings, always pushing the limits. But what does it really take to be an Ironman and what kind of mindset does one need to cultivate to perform in that level? My conversation this week is with Rafi Papazian, an Ironman athlete, a baker, an entrepreneur and a curious soul. Jereme is the author of the excellent, Make Mead Like a Viking, recently released by Chelsea Green Publishing, and a regular contributor to Earthineer.com. He joins me today to discuss how his background as a homesteader and an interest in mead and vikings lead to the focus of this book. Along the way we touch on favorite styles, how to get started, and developing your own mead making rituals and traditions. You will find more about him and his work at Jereme-Zimmerman.com, and at Earthineer.com. His book,Make Mead Like a Viking, is available through Chelsea Green Publishing, and retails for $24.95. Pick up a copy directly from Jereme or Chelsea Green, or order your own through your favorite independent bookseller today. Links to all those resources, and more, in the show notes. As I get into during the interview, I like Jereme's book. A lot. On the bookshelf behind my desk are over a dozen books on fermentation and alcohol, including those by Papazian, Schramm, and Buhner, and Make Mead Like a Viking fits well among them. Light-hearted and an easy read, it blends ancient myth with modern techniques, while keeping things wild and still providing all the information you need to get started. If you're someone new to the world of mead, or home brewing in general, start with this book, as it is as unintimidating and welcoming as a book on fermentation can come. If you've been doing this for a while and read many books on making your own mead, wine, beer, or spirits, on a scale from Charlie Papazian's The New Complete Joy of Homebrewingand Stephen Harrod Buhner's Sacred and Herbal Healing Beers, Jereme Zimmerman's Make Mead Like a Viking rests comfortably in the middle. From here, next Monday, December 14, a short episode with Ethan Hughes discussing “What about Christmas?” and how we can transform our holiday into one of new traditions. After that, on Thursday, December 17, is the last interview of the year, when Taj Scicluna, The Perma Pixie, joins me to have a conversation about the general state of permaculture. Until the next time, spend each day taking care of earth, yourself, and each other. Charles N. "Charlie" Papazian is an American nuclear engineer who founded the Association of Brewers and the Great American Beer Festival, and wrote The Complete Joy of Home Brewing. Papazian is the current president of the Brewers Association. In 1984, Papazian wrote his first book on the subject of home brewing, titled The Complete Joy of Home Brewing. The book contained a forward by influential British beer writer Michael Jackson. As of August 2005, The Complete Joy of Home Brewing has seen 25 reprintings, 3 editions, and has sold over 900,000 copies. As the first American (and, for over a decade, the only) mass-market book to provide in-depth information on subject of how to brew beer in the home, The Complete Joy of Home Brewing was very often the sole source of home brewing information for novice home brewers in America. Consequently, the book has gained iconic status among America's home brewing community, who have referred to it as the "home brewer's bible." Papazian has since written five more books.
President Mary A. Papazian discussed students concerns in an open forum.
