In March of 2019, we had the privilege of Pat Williams joining the Tim DeMoss Show for the full hour. At the time, he had just released a new book (something he'd done 100+ times in his life :)) entitled Character Carved in Stone: The 12 Core Values of West Point That Build Leaders And Produce Success. In light of Mr. Williams' passing yesterday, on the program today (4pm-5pm) we feature much of that interview, covering ground from his days with the Phillies and 76ers (and in basketball in general), his appreciation for the Greater Philadelphia area (having grown up in Wilmington DE), certainly about leadership, and the biggest decision of his life which took place in February 1968--deciding to follow Jesus Christ. Mr. Williams shares, "The first thing that hit me as a new Christian was I'm going to take my hands off my life and let the Lord lead through all of this. I was tired of trying to promote myself and climb the ladder. So I just relaxed and said, 'Lord, I'm in your hands.'" Several months later, he received a call from Dr. Jack Ramsay (then the 76ers GM and about to move into the team's head coaching position) asking Mr. Williams to run the team's front office, opening what turned into 50+ years in the NBA and a truly incredible life of friendships, accomplishments, ministry and service.Pat tells the story about that call from Dr. Ramsay, plus others involving Moses Malone, Coach K, Dick Vermeil, Fergie Jenkins, Pistol Pete Maravich, Wilt Chamberlain and many more.Find out more about Pat's life, work and legacy at www.patwilliams.com.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy impressed a lot of people this weekend at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.  Many debate if McCarthy will be drafted in the first round.  After all, he didn't get to show off his skills on a Michigan football team that ran the ball a lot and protected big leads on the ground.  However, with the Combine and McCarthy's scheduled Pro-Day in Ann Arbor he will get plenty of opportunity to show off his arm and his charm! CAITLIN!Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday.  Along the way, Clark surpassed Pistol Pete Maravich as the All-Time scoring leader for men's and women's college basketball.  Congrats to her for reaching yet another milestone as she finishes her Iowa basketball career.  Up next will be her professional career in the WNBA.  She is projected to be the number one pick in the draft and that pick currently belongs to the Indiana Fever. EXPANDED PLAYOFFLast week we mentioned how the people in charge of college football want to jump from a 12 team playoff to a 14 team playoff.  However, in a 14 team playoff the Big 10 and SEC expect their conference winners to receive automatic first round byes.  As you can imagine the Big 12 and the ACC are not too happy about that part of the plan. TOP 10Finally, we recap an exciting weekend with our Big 10 Top 10 observations.  See if our list matches yours!  It's all right here on Locked on Big 10. Connect on Twitter:  https://twitter.com/talkbig10Website & Merch: https://talkbig10.com Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

It is a bit early to call New Orleans Saints tackle Trevor Penning an all-out bust, but the team certainly has to figure out what they want to do at tackle before the NFL Draft begins in a little over 7 weeks. That has to be priority No. 1, doesn't it? That is the lead topic of discussion on Monday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 210), as host Jim Derry brings in FOX-8 Sports Managing Director Garland Gillen to talk about it, as well as a look at the rising stock of LSU wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas. Lastly, Garland and Jim will share their thoughts on Iowa's Caitlin Clark surpassing the all-time point record in college basketball set by LSU's Pistol Pete Maravich back in 1970. Should it be a record? Should Clark have an asterisk? Should they even be mentioned together? And in Monday's Extra Point, Jim shows what Clark's numbers would be had she played by the rules of the NCAA 54 years ago. Hint: She would be WAY off.

University of Iowa basketball phenom Caitlin Clark is nearing the end of her collegiate career, and closing in on the all-time NCAA scoring record. That record currently belongs to LSU's “Pistol Pete” Maravich, who scored 3,667 points in just 3 years before leaving for the NBA in 1970.  New York Times sports reporter and Louisiana native Jere Longman tells us more about Clark's journey to take Maravich's record and what this means for women's collegiate sports. This spring, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience in New Orleans will screen “Rosenwald,” a documentary on the Jewish philanthropist Julius Rosenwald who teamed up with Booker T. Washington to open more than 5,000 schools for Black children in the early 20th century. These screenings coincide with the museum's exhibit on Rosenwald Schools, in which photographer Andrew Feiler traveled throughout the South, documenting the Rosenwald schools that are still standing today — and sharing the stories behind them.In December, we spoke with Feiler about his photography project and combining his artwork with activism. Today, we give that story a second listen. Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Alana Schreiber. Our assistant producer is Aubry Procell and our engineer is Garrett Pittman.  You can listen to Louisiana Considered Monday through Friday at 12 and 7 p.m. It's available on Spotify, Google Play, and wherever you get your podcasts.  Louisiana Considered wants to hear from you! While he was at UGA, he had the difficult task of trying to slow down the college basketball phenom in the country, Pistol Pete Maravich. A UGA grad assistant role helped him learn the coaching ropes and he then assisted Bill Raftery at Seton Hall, Rollie Massimino at Villanova, and Bruce Parkhill at William & Mary. Tom coached basketball and baseball at Fairleigh Dickinson before being named head coach at Yale University, where he guided players like Chris Dudley and Butch Graves.   Tom then took the head coaching job at the University of Vermont.
