On the latest episode of the podcast, Jamie just wants to take a few moments to 'Tickle the Monster', Doug's television really wants him to watch Juwanna Mann instead of Near Dark, and we both agree that there needs to be a new Vampire handbook or pamphlet printed much like the Handbook to the Recently Deceased in Beetlejuice. Take a moment to stop and listen to the night, chug that mug of waitress blood, and join us as we take in a movie filled with vampires, explosions and shootouts with cops...that's actually just a love story as we discuss the incredible Kathryn Bigelow film, Near Dark!Visit our YouTube ChannelMerch on TeePublic Follow us on TwitterFollow on InstagramFind us on FacebookVisit our Website
Say his name three times and he will appear. With his unruly green hair, pinstripe suit and unusual mannerisms, the malicious spirit became a film icon. But before the dark comedy premiered the studio and half of the cast weren't exactly convinced that audiences would be willing to take the wild ride about a bio-exorcist. The original script was vastly different, offering a darker and more deadly take before humor was eventually (and successfully) sprinkled in during production. The unique blend of absurdity and alarm proved to be the perfect mix, with this 80s Flick becoming a surprise hit at the box office, spawning a hit animated series, winning an Oscar, and becoming a Broadway musical. So take a trip with us back to Winter River Connecticut, grab your copy of the “Handbook for the Recently Deceased”, and watch out for the Sandworms as Tim Williams and guest co-hosts Laramy Wells & Bethany Wells discuss “Beetlejuice” from 1988 on this episode of the 80s Flick Flashback Podcast. Here are some additional behind-the-scenes trivia we were unable to cover in this episode: Tom Duffield said "The scene with Alec Baldwin, where Geena's standing with his head in her hand, he was just kneeling behind a black show card that was cut around his chin. Look closely, it's all done on camera. It was real quick cut, but that's all it was." The epilogue featuring Beetlejuice and the witch doctor was added during post-production. Another version of the ending showed Beetlejuice in the waiting room with the barber who welcomed Adam at the beginning of the movie (supposedly after he had died), and the barber's rambling drove Beetlejuice crazy. In Winter River, Connecticut, married couple Barbara and Adam Maitland decide to spend their vacation decorating their idyllic country home. As they are driving home from a trip to town, Barbara swerves to avoid a dog, and the car crashes through the side of a covered bridge and plunges into the river. After returning home, she and Adam notice they now lack reflections. When Adam attempts to leave the house, he ends up in a strange and otherworldly desert-like landscape populated by enormous "sandworms." The encounter lasts only a few seconds for him, but after Barbara rescues him, she says he was gone for two hours. They then find a Handbook for the Recently Deceased, which leads them to realize they drowned in the river and have become ghosts. The house is sold, and the new owners, the Deetz family, arrive from New York City. Charles Deetz is a former real estate developer; his second wife, Delia, is a sculptor and conceptual artist; and his teenage goth daughter, Lydia, from his first marriage, is an aspiring photographer. Under the guidance of interior designer Otho, the family transforms the house into a new-wave work of postmodern art. Consulting the Handbook, the Maitlands travel to an otherworldly waiting room populated by other distressed souls, where they discover the afterlife is structured according to a complex bureaucracy involving vouchers and caseworkers. The Maitlands' caseworker, Juno, tells them they must remain in the house for the next 125 years on pain of a dire fate. If they want the Deetzes out of the house, it is up to the Maitlands to scare them away. Adam and Barbara are invisible to Charles and Delia, but Lydia is able to see them; she attributes her paranormal intuition to her "strange and unusual" nature. Against Juno's advice, the Maitlands contact the miscreant Betelgeuse, Juno's former assistant and a now-freelance "bio-exorcist", to scare the Deetzes away. Betelgeuse quickly offends the Maitlands with his crude and morbid demeanour. They reconsider hiring him, but they are too late to stop him from wreaking havoc on the Deetzes. The small town's charm and the supernatural events inspire Charles to pitch his boss, Maxie Dean, on transforming the town into a tourist hot spot, but Maxie wants evidence of the ghosts. Using the Handbook for the Recently Deceased, Otho conducts what he thinks is a séance and summons Adam and Barbara, using their wedding clothes, but they begin to age and decay, as Otho unwittingly performed an exorcism instead. Horrified, Lydia summons Betelgeuse for help, but he will only help her if she marries him; marrying a human would enable Betelgeuse to freely cause chaos in the mortal world. Betelgeuse saves the Maitlands, disposes of Maxie and Maxie's wife in a high striker game, and of Otho by changing his clothes to a leisure suit outfit, then prepares a wedding before a ghastly minister. The Maitlands intervene before the ceremony is completed, and Barbara rides a sandworm through the house, which devours Betelgeuse. The Deetzes and Maitlands agree to live in harmony within the house. Barbara and Adam form a stronger bond with Lydia, and she persuades them to occasionally unleash their ghostly powers, including spirit possession. Betelgeuse is stuck in the afterlife waiting room. He steals a number ticket from a witch doctor, who shrinks his head in return.

It's showtime! The second film in our celebration of cinematic sandworms is Tim Burton's 1988 horror comedy Beetlejuice. John and Georgia hit the dunes of Saturn by way of East Corinth, Vermont, to dig up the ghost with the most. We talk about Michael Keaton's career-defining performance as the titular unhinged bioexorcist, the stellar on-camera practical effects and Oscar-winning makeup, the comedic talents of the all-star cast (including the incomparable Catherine O'Hara, whose Delia Deetz could be a prototype for the zany Moira Rose of Schitt's Creek), the changes in the story from original script to finished film, and our take on Tim Burton's philosophy of death. Grab your copy of The Handbook for the Recently Deceased and meet us on the other side!
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE! Yes! It's a horror show in winter! The RSA gang gets into one of the most iconic horror comedies ever, Beetlejuice! In this horror comedy we see Michael Keaton play the bio-exorcist who thinks he's helping a dead couple scare the people who have taken over their home, but in reality, he's trying to kill them! It's one incredible movie, not to mention funny adventure this week for the RSA gang! The story begins with Barbara and Adam, a recently married couple who decide to spend their honeymoon at home. Unfortunately the honeymoon turns into a funeral as they die in an unfortunate car accident. When they return home though, they begin to figure out that they didn't survive the car crash. They must now read up on their “Handbook For the Recently Deceased”. Their house though, is sold to a family known as the Deetz's, and this family is beyond crazy! You have Charles Deetz, a former real estate developer, who moved his family to the sticks to relax. Then you have Charles' second wife Delia, a self-proclaimed sculptor, but in reality a very horrible artist and taste in fashion. Finally their daughter Lydia, and Charles first child from his first marriage. She's an aspiring photographer, and somewhat a little strange. Oh yes, then you have Otho, who is a friend of Delia and an interior designer who wants to transform the house into a new wave of postmodern art. Adam and Barbara try to scare everyone, but to no avail. They are then forced to call upon Beetlejuice. A self-proclaimed bio-exorcist. This doesn't go according to plan, as Beetlejuice doesn't impress Adam and Barbara with his crude and morbid demeanor. Things begin to unravel as Beetlejuice runs amok and tries to kill the Deetz's, not to mention making a move on Lydia! Adam and Barbara then try and tell Lydia that they are willing to live with her and her family, but Otho has other plans. Adam and Barbara were photographed earlier by Lydia, and now Charles wants to make a side show with ghosts. Otho then performs and exorcism. Horrified, Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to save them. Beetlejuice though will do it on one condition, if Lydia marries him!
George McFly's A Match Made in Space, from “Back to the Future”… Hank Moody's God Hates Us All,” from “Californication”… Dr. Frederick Frankenstein's How I Did It, from “Young Frankenstein”… Some of our best-loved movies and television shows feature books written by one of the lead characters. In many cases, the publication of those “books” becomes a central plot point or a running gag. (Think Handbook for the Recently Deceased, from “Beetlejuice.”) In other cases, those books leap from the screen and onto our bookshelves—IRL, as the kids like to say. That's the case with Look Out for the Little Guy, the in-movie memoir by Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man, as seen on screen in the Marvel Studios blockbuster, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.” The book was published by Hyperion Avenue in September and became an immediate New York Times best-seller, but here's a news flash: it wasn't really written by Scott Lang, the “Everyman Avenger” played in the movie by actor Paul Rudd. And no, it wasn't really written by Paul Rudd, whose face graces the front cover of the book in stores and online, and as it appears as a prop in the movie. In fact, the book was really written by our guest Rob Kutner, a veteran comedy writer who has collected five Emmys, a Peabody and a Grammy writing for such shows as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” on Comedy Central, and “Conan,” on TBS. Rob's other television writing credits include “Teen Titans Go,” “Angry Birds: Summer Madness” and “Dennis Miller Live,” and he has also written material for the Oscars, Emmys, and MTV Movie Awards broadcasts, as well as for two White House Correspondents Dinners. He is also the author of Apocalypse How: Turn the End-Times into the Best of Times! and the just-published Snot Goblins and Other Tasteless Tales, with illustrations by David DeGrand. Join us as Rob shares what it was like to channel the voice of a fictional character to craft a page-turning memoir of an ex-con turned world-saving superhero, and to be tasked with the caretaking of the life and legacy of one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Universe. What is a ghost?? The concept is based on the ancient belief that there is a spirit or essence that continues to exist without the body after death and can in some cases interact or haunt the "living." This actually led to the development of funerals and rituals to help protect against this and encourage the soul's onward journey. This episode explores how despite the different spiritual beliefs that permeate the end of life ceremonies, the final disposition of the corpse happens initially with the help of one of the 5 elements: earth, water, fire, air or space. You can support this podcast and join our virtual poetry chats and other bonus content by pitching in $5 through Patreon at https://patreon.com/kindmind (Intro music “New Apartment” by Coldbrew and “The Absence of Definition” by Kowalski Room; episode artwork on website by Emily Dawn Duforest)
Although the Handbook for the Recently Deceased reads like stereo instructions, Nathan thought that his sister, Jessie Ward, was the perfect person to bring in to decipher this manual and the 1988 horror comedy, Beetlejuice. Both agree that this Tim Burton classic is amazing to take in, but wonder if its originality is more style than substance. Listen to see how this sibling pair decipher this weird, Halloween staple.

When we are open and receptive, there are moments when we are able to see beyond the veil between the living and the dead. For those that are able to do this, there can be many questions that are unanswered, as this is a rarely discussed topic. In this episode Dale answers some of those questions and helps a listener understand why she felt heat while having an experience like this.
Julia Koschitzky, Malcolm Lester, Boris Brott, Rabbi Benjamin Friedberg, Alex Eisen, Marcia Koven: these are just some of the many prominent Jewish Canadians who passed away in the first few months of 2022. As we kick off Jewish Heritage Month, we decided to introduce a new recurring segment: The CJN Daily Dead Beat, featuring CJN reporter emeritus Ron Csillag. Each episode, we'll give honourable mention to honourable menschen and women, many of whom Csillag has met personally long before being tasked with writing their obituaries. Since it's hard to sum up a person's life in 700 words, Csillag will occasionally join the show to share some rarely heard stories about these memorable men and women. We'll discuss Boris Brott, a world-famous maestro without the ego; Julia Koschitzky, dubbed the foreign minister of Canada's Jewish community; Malcolm Lester, who detoured a rabbinic life for literary publishing; Rabbi Benjamin Friedberg, who brought both unity and division to Toronto's Beth Tzedec Congregation; and the tireless Alex Eisen and Marcia Koven, who founded the Shoah Scroll and the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum, respectively. Escuchen la lista de reproducción (playlist) de este episodio en:- Youtube: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzEUmf3C1pXFLcmVnIGArD-oD06P7rpeN- Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4zWzjag4CprhASbIN7Vlur?si=ab680b7a7bb241e3- Deezer: https://deezer.page.link/PA389mEKCkhEUuv39Artistas y canciones analizadas en este episodio:Jorn Lande & Trond Holter - Into the Dark (Dracula Swing Of Death, 2015)Solitude Aeturnus - Midnight Dreams (Downfall, 1996)Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 – Bride of Frankenstein (Songs from the Recently Deceased, 1999)Denial Fiend - Son of the Creature from the Black Lagoon (They Rise, 2009)Tierra Santa - La Momia (Tierras de Leyenda, 2003)Queen - Invisible Man (The Miracle, 1989)Nidra - Wendigo (Wendigo 'single', 2021)Pentagram – The Ghoul (Pentagram, 1985)

Spoiler alert: it's ambroxan! JK, lol. Though we cannot confirm (nor deny) that such a thing exists, in today's episode, Content Creator John Gonzalez (a TikToker with over 240K followers) reveals his behind-the-scenes method and criteria for creating content. Truly, it is the closest thing I've heard to a foolproof formula. We also discuss John's foray into creating fragrances, the biz of content creation, how TikTok essentially fosters/promotes plagiarism, and how we love dupes (except when those dupes are people). The fourth edition of this year's Spooktober Spooktacular finds the hosts with the most conjuring the known universe's preeminent bio-exorcist: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Being our second discussion involving director Tim Burton (listen to an earlier episode where we mulled over his 2001 Planet of the Apes remake for the first), we find joy in exploring the filmmaker's breakthrough hit that help solidify his place as one of 80s Hollywood's brightest new talents. But first...this week's Blue Plate Special loads up on a host of new trailers- ranging from Home Sweet Home Alone to forthcoming spandex spectacles The Flash and The Batman- before we discuss the studied mediocrity of the most recent additions to the never-ending Michael Myers saga: 2018's Halloween and the recently released Halloween Kills. We miraculously escape the cold, dead clutches of The Shape to rightly celebrate our titular subject of the week, the 1988 cult classic which provided audiences with an iconic Michael Keaton performance, a signature blend of the macabre and the farcical, the rich musical combination of Danny Elfman and Harry Belafonte, and the culmination of a star's oeuvre that ends up landing them as the second inductee into the Overlapping Dialogue's Hall of Fame (aka The Immune). It's a jam packed episode honoring one of our very favorites so dig out your copy of the Handbook for the Recently Deceased and get to studying! Today's Guest is Paula Lenz. Paula is the author of the book Driving Into Infinity: Living With My Brother's Spirit. She has also been a featured speaker for the international Association for Near-Death studies in 2018 and 2020. Today we are lucky to have her here with us to share her experience and hopefully we will learn how the deepest grief can unlock the greatest spiritual treasure. Paula's experience is an unusual and it is hard to classify because it has attributes and aftereffects of an After-Death Communication (ADC), Shared Death Experience (SDE) and a Near Death Experience (NDE). It is also unusual because she left her body while she was driving her deceased brother's personal truck! #paranormal #spirituality #nde

We also played two songs from their album "Thanks, I Hate It", Fantastic Drugs and How To Take Them, and Handbook for the Recently Deceased. Deceased are up to their old tricks again. Going through their vast discography it's obvious they're not afraid of the odd cover tune. As evident by their "Rotten To The Core" and "Cadaver Traditions" cover comps. So now with the "Ghostly White" album cycle in the books, good friend of the show Mr. King Fowley, is putting their down time to some good use. Thus "Rotten To The Core...2." So we got His Kingliness on the horn to discuss this latest project as well as a few other things like the band's run in Chris Barnes back in the day. King's always good for a story or three. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we weigh in on the Tom Morello/ignorant fans situation and cast our votes to get Oderus Urgungus immortalized in Richmond. Musically, we crank some Deceased, Cauldron Black Ram, Carrion Vale, Wraith, Final Conflict, Nunslaughter, and of course, Gwar!! Finally, we introduce Canadian black metaller Hellmoon in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!! This Episode is sponsored by Trve Kvlt Coffee. Summon the coffee demons to possess yourself a cup today! Happy Hour #81: Podcast for the Recently Deceased - 'Beetlejuice' Support the Show ➤ Someone must’ve said our name three times unbroken cause we have appeared and we are talking all about the musical that rose from the dead - ‘Beetlejuice’. With a tumultuous Broadway journey there is plenty to discuss about this show. Jimi and Tommy discuss how it measures up as a movie-to-musical adaptation, the mysterious Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Grandpa Jimi tries to wrap his head around TikTok. Poorly. Beetlejuice (Original Broadway Cast Recording) Amazon / iTunes / Spotify SHOW NOTES Although a pretty different vibe from the musical, the original film is an absolute cult classic and well worth a watch, even if just for that injection of pure Tim Burton excellence! This article gives you a good chronicle of Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures’ venture into musical theatre making and a bit about their future! If you’re interested in vocal health/voice studies then watching Alex Brightman’s folds will be the best way to spend your afternoon! Batman the Musical (the Jim Steinman cancelled version, not the actually alright Holy Musical, Batman!) has some… choice moments. What would Warner Bros Theatre Ventures look like today if it had come to fruition? What do you think? Was it TikTok or was it there presentation on the Tony Awards that boosted their ticket sales after that May slump? The production company did all they could to appeal to fans to come in and buy tickets in order to guarantee a future for the show, including this commercial with Alex Brightman! Here are some of the ‘best’ Beetlejuice TikToks. If you can tell Grandpa Jimi why these are amazing, please do! Remember you can come chat to us about the episode on Twitter and Instagram @jimandtomic! Or if you wanna pop OFF then jump into our email inbox at jimandtomic@gmail.com! Have you ever looked someone up on one of those reverse-phone-number sites to see who the heck is calling you at 2am? Did you know that those sites, and the apps that go with them, are great for genealogy? In this episode I'll discuss my favorite, BeenVerified, and how I use it to find generations of family members when I'm shrubbing, and when I'm working with someone whose parentage is unclear and who is using DNA for research. Family trees need all the help that they can get; public records aggregators like BeenVerified can provide up to three generations of relatives for researchers looking to fill blanks on Ancestry trees. I'll also tell you how to remove yourself from these databases to protect your own privacy. Hypocritical, huh? WARNING: This submission is SUPER-DUPER LONG – like “Insane in the Membrane” long!!! Like, take a week to make the track list long!!! It’s the musical version of a “tl;dr”. And now for a non-musical version of one, here’s the explanation (with track list to follow): If you’re new to Nerd Noise Radio, and feel this is oppressively long, fear not (and certainly unsubscribe not)! This is not at all indicative of a standard episode! Typically, episodes generally find themselves in the half hour to an hour and a half range. This is a once-a-year super-duper track-fest that is as long as it is because I couldn’t be more committal! I created a list of all “candidate” tracks from 2017 that I would consider for a favorites episode….and ended up with a whopping 122 tracks! For perspective, an ordinary episode of NNR is anywhere from 20-35 tracks. So, I started pruning back the list with the goal of hitting 40 tracks, mayyyybe 60 at the extreme. I started by cutting the tracks on my list that were already featured via listener picks on C1E25: The Best of 2017 since you, the listener just heard them a few days ago. I did include a list at the very bottom of these notes featuring the tracks that were in C1E25, and were therefore cut from my list so you can know which tracks they were. I gradually whittled my list down to 70 tracks, but couldn’t think of any more to cut. And besides, with so many tracks that I would’ve wanted featured absent already, and so many “me tracks” already featured on C1E25, I felt like I was beginning to approach the precipice of this not being worth doing anymore if I cut too many more out. It wouldn’t be representative enough, especially when there was already a good representation of “my tracks” selected by the listeners in the proper Channel 1 episode….. …..and thus….. ……..a 70 track, 3hr and 23 minute long music block JUGGERNAUT!!!! Actually, 71 tracks! I realized belatedly that in my quest to trim it back, I trimmed out all the NES tracks….and we just couldn’t have a Best of 2017 episode without AT LEAST ONE NES TRACK, am I right? There were already a pair of FDS tracks which, to be fair, is just an NES and then some, but it’s still not quite the same, don’t you agree? So, our opening track was a last second addition to make sure we got some real deal NES glory in this monster. I hope you’ll feel it fits. This is already long enough that I can’t feature it on the dedicated Channel F feed, so it will only be appearing on the All Channels Feed, on YouTube, Twitch, Archive, and Blogspot. Also, due to the extreme length, the customary intro and outro of a typical Channel 1 episode were cut, meaning that this episode is pretty much JUST the music block! If you’re catching this via the “video-ified” version on YouTube or Twitch, I will still include pop-ups for each track. But if you’re listening to an audio-only version, like podbean (the All Channels Feed), or Archive, then the ONLY place where you will find track info is in the show notes! So, they are more important than ever! In the case of YouTube, which has a character limit for descriptions, I fear that I may run afoul of that, and may need to move the tracklist to the comments section instead. So just keep an eye out for that. If you don’t see a track listing in the description, then you know where to look next. :-) All that said, I actually am really proud of this track list – particularly the track ordering. We start out with a fun, happy block, followed by dark, then intense, then weird, and then…..well, you’ll just have to tune in to follow the carefully curated ebb and flow and weave of this winding, twisting musical journey. I will say that other than our very last track, which has a PERFECT “goodbye” feel, we wrap things up with a jazz block. So, it’s truly an “all over the world” musical experience! And how we get from happy, to dark, to intense, to weird….and then to jazz is a question you’ll have to find out for yourself by listening. If you can survive the 3 ½ hour non-stop trip, I promise you that it is the biggest, boldest, broadest, richest, most ambitious journey I’ve taken you on as a podcaster! Lastly, I made sure to get at least one track from every episode in here. Had I been going by pure preference, the track list may have looked a tiny bit different (though not much), but having as my secondary goal to get every episode involved, I made the list the way I did, picking my favorite track(s) from the episode not already featured on C1E25. In the case of C1E7 (the Sword of Vermilion soundtrack), my favorite track, Statts, was already taken, and it became a multi-way-tie for second favorite, so I just chose a track that I thought would go well in the mix. I chose Dungeon 2. Anyway, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it! 2017 was a great year for the program, and I’m convinced you’ll find 2018 even better…..I know I do ---- which means this task for me will be even harder next time! Get ready for 90 tracks next time…..maybe 91! ;-) Cheers! -John (Nerd Noise Radio) Track Number – Track Name – Game – System – Composer – Episode Originally Appearing on – Time Stamp (unless obviously otherwise) :-) 01: Intro – 00:00:00 02: Title Theme – Solstice – NES – Tim Follin – Ep 16: 00:00:15 03: Lovely City - Lovely Planet - Multiplatform - Calum Bowen - Ep 4 – 00:03:09 04: Nice Day - Spindizzy II - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:05:44 05: Chilled Reflection (Feat Rudy Escobar) - DYA – Neon Dreams (Album) - Ep 14 – 00:09:15 06: July 2014 - eShop Music - WiiU/3DS - Kazumi Totaka - Ep 6 – 00:11:35 07: Stage 1 - ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto - Ep 4 – 00:14:28 08: Fun with Laser Guns - FearOfDark - FDS – BotB Winter Chip 8 – Ep 8 – 00:17:40 09: Metro City Subway - Final Fight CD – Sega CD - c: Harumi Fujita, Hiromitsu Takaoka, Junko Tamiya, Manami Matsumae, Yasuaki Fujita, Yoko Shimomura and/or Yoshihiro Sakaguchi / a: T's Music - Ep 15 – 00:21:11 10: High Sky - El Viento – Genesis - Motoi Sakuraba - Ep 16 – 00:23:15 11: Snow Land - Wiz 'n' Liz - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:25:37 12: Tachy Touch - Knuckles Chaotix - 32X - Junko Shiratsu, Mariko Nanba - Ep 2 – 00:27:53 13: Ethnic Cave and Flame - X-Men - Arcade - The Konami Kukeiha Club – Ep 10 – 00:28:54 14: The Vile Peaks - Final Fantasy XIII - PS3 - Masashi Hamauzu – Ep 10 – 00:31:24 15: Twilight Palace (Outside) - LoZ: Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota - Ep 4 – 00:34:10 16: Options - Bram Stoker’s Dracula - Genesis - Matt Furniss - Ep 2 & 17 – 00:37:18 17: Intro - Sabre Team - Amiga - Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:38:46 18: Cycle 1 - Streets of Rage 3 - Genesis - Motohiro Kawashima w Yuzo Koshiro) - Ep 2 – 00:41:38 19: Bonus 1 - Second Samurai - Mega Drive – Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:44:51 20: Mission One - T2: The Arcade Game - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:46:19 21: Traveller's Tales - Knight Arms - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:48:30 22: Yug's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 00:51:05 23: Stage 5-2 – Bram Stoker's Dracula – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 17 – 00:53:01 24: Stage 4-3 - Bram Stoker's Dracula - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Eps 12 & 17 – 00:55:30 25: 4th Cause - Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama – Ep 4 – 00:58:17 26: Naja's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 01:02:47 27: Gong Shun Sheng - Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada – Ep 4 – 01:04:56 28: Dungeon 2 – Sword of Vermilion – Genesis - Hiroshi Kawaguchi and Yasuhiro Takagi - Ep 7 – 01:07:34 29: Swamp - Samurai Ghost - TG16 - Gappy, Miyoshi Okuyama, and/or Hiroyon – Ep 20 – 01:09:47 30: Passage - Destiny - PS4/XB1 - C. In today’s Halloween episode Spook-tacular of STORIES TELLING STORIES, we revisit the timeless 80’s classic BEETLEJUICE by taking a peek inside the magical and mysterious “HANDBOOK FOR THE RECENTLY DECEASED.”
Brain, Beth and Scott are vacationing south of the border (no, not a euphemism) and recapping season two episode nine this week With the cruise ship leaving us in port we check into Tijuana's version of the Overlook Hotel and enjoy a complimentary Mexican breakfast with delicious human chirizo at La Colonia's finest restaurant. Later we go shopping at the ApocalypseMart for some supplies and then back to enjoy a hot shower and the bar where nobody knows your name (because they're all dead, duh) but the tequila is flowing and so are the backstories (also not a euphemism). Finally, we're off to midnight mass to confess our sins at Alejandro's Church of the Recently Deceased. It's an extra long Fear the Walking Deadcast with extra tangents, some show housekeeping and continued speculation about the interesting twists the show is throwing us. It's raining men, hallelujah, don't forget to eat the piano man. You can email us with questions or comments at weeklyheroics@yahoo.com Please put Fear the walking deadmail in the subject line.

The guest host with the most, Nowheresville and A/V writer-director Joseph Lewis, joins Paul and AJ to continue Gobbledyween 2015 with a discussion of Tim Burton's 1988 classic Beetlejuice. The three heathens agree that the movie is great--it's wacky, it's funny, it's morbid--but when they stop and think about it, they have some questions. As brilliant as Michael Keaton is, would the film work better without its titular character? Is it two different movies squished together? What the hell happened to Burton? Of course, there's also a little "Day-O," a little Lydia, and a little bafflement over the fact that a Beetlejuice 2 is in development. Next: Gobbledyween comes to a close as friend of the show Aundria summons up Witchboard.
