Rob Dukes sits down with Nikki Blakk for an unfiltered, full-length conversation about his return to Exodus, recording the band’s next album, and prepping for their 40th anniversary shows. From tracking vocals in the studio and battling nerves before hitting the stage, to his unexpected career as a hot rod fabricator and the road-dog adventures with his pup Lulu—this is Dukes at his most raw and honest. Hear him open up about honoring Paul Baloff’s legacy, the pressure of revisiting old lyrics, and the punk rock spirit that still fuels his fire.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As of this episode, we will have covered each and every era of every EXODUS vocalist, from Paul Baloff to STEVE “ZETRO” SOUZA to Rob Dukes (and back again) to ZETRO. As the 2nd vocalist for EXODUS, STEVE SOUZA's voice gave the band a distinct sonic ferocity which set them apart from their “Big Five” counterparts, spewing forth some of the most brutally savage lyrical imagery in all of thrash. While we've already touched on a couple of ZETRO era albums in earlier episodes (which you can locate in the “sizably girthy” Metal Nerdery Archives), we thought a brief refresher might be in order before proceeding onward through the remainder of the catalog.   It's time to find out what the best “new R.E.M. Podcast” has in store before we flip “the whole script” and get “waterboarded” after unveiling which Pink Floyd tune had the biggest influence on Jonathan Davis's singing style. Prepare to reckon with “The TMZ of Metal”, learn which day is “the taint of the week”, discover exactly how Kirk Hammett and Metallica factor into Exodus lore, and be ready to take it “right in the face, tits, and balls, all at the same time” when you JOIN US for a look back on the STEVE “ZETRO” SOUZA ERA of EXODUS.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, Google Podcasts or wherever you get your Podcasts. “What's the biggest metal boner you think you ever got in your life?”   As much as it pains us to say it, it has only been extremely recently that we finally got some insight into the ROB DUKES ERA of EXODUS, and thank goodness we finally did, because we seriously had no clue as to the level of thrashtactical brutality we'd been missing!   Not only were the early 2000's a renaissance for a multitude of classic thrash bands from the glorious days of yore, but the ROB DUKES era completely blew our hair back and made us extremely thankful for what is, without question, some of the fastest, angriest, and sickest EXODUS to have blessed the sacred genre of thrash during the first decade of this millennium.   Get ready to hear some of the most “bad-buttocks” thrash you've ever heard in your life, enjoy “a moment of metal bone” to help counteract our brief moment of college football nonsensicalness and prepare to have your faces melted off like “lady juice on a slug” as we pound down “the crack of alcohol” to get in the mood for you to JOIN US for the aural onslaught of EXODUS: THE ROB DUKES ERA. Ideal Para Llevarte O Regalar Productos Del Podcats De Ivoox. Esta formación grabó el segundo demo "Die by His Hand". Seguiremos Su Historia En El Siguiente Podcast...... Rob Dukes is a Midlands born actor, residing in London. From his early days, he showed talent in the arts and has a love of both music and acting, being an accomplished trumpet player...something he shares with this presenter (albeit remove the accomplished for me as it was 15 years ago since I last really played!) Rob is currently in the multi award winning WW2 short film by Patrick Ryder called The Code. I've had the pleasure of watching this film twice now, and also presenting and hosting the Q&A at the London screening in September. Rob's career is going from strength to strength and it is easy to see why. He has a presence which oozes charisma and having seen his work on screen, I can confirm the acting talent. It's an honour to know Rob, who is always willing to help and promote others as well as himself. Take note of his name as it is one you will be seeing a lot of! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

John Baizley of Baroness guests this week. We've been looking forward to talking with John for a while, and with the release of Purple we talk about the new members of the band, how that affected the writing process, getting back on the road after the horrific bus crash that nearly ended their lives, the impact the crash had on John's everyday life, his struggle with pain and his response to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. We also talk about whether or not guys that are in bands should be managers of others bands. In a recent interview, Rob Dukes (former singer for Exodus) criticized Chuck Billy for having a conflict of interest by managing Exodus and being the singer of Testament. Could that lead to mismanagement by favoring his own band? Or is it beneficial to have someone with that kind of experience doing your bidding? Do you have to trust your management no matter what?
