Qualia Senolytic is designed to selectively target and eliminate damaged or dysfunctional cells in the body, which are called senescent cells. By removing these cells, senolytics aim to rejuvenate tissues, reduce inflammation, and reverse some aspects of aging. Early research has shown senolytics can… Lead to a reduction in systemic inflammation Improve vascular function by reducing senescent cell burden in the arteries. Enhance muscle regeneration while also increasing exercise capacity and decreasing recovery time Lead to significant improvements in joint health Ready to resist aging at the cellular level? Slumber There's no denying that sleep is one of the most powerful factors to upgrading your overall health and running performance. We all know it by now, but sometimes no matter how well-intentioned we are; getting good, quality sleep doesn't come easy. Sometimes you can't get your mind to relax, other times you toss and turn all night. One way or another, it all leads to poor quality sleep. That's why we've partnered with Slumber, the leader in science-backed sleep supplements using CBN. CBN is a hemp-derived melatonin alternative which promotes rest, relaxation, and sleep. And it works. In a recent 2024 study, participants who used Slumbers Deep Zzzs CBN Gummies for 30 days reported significant improvements in time to sleep, got 72 minutes of extra deep, and reported waking up 1.5 less times per night on average. What I love most is that you can mix and match different formulations to specifically address your goals or your own struggles with sleep. Just about every runner has made the mistake of going too fast on a recovery run and paid the price. There's a lot of things that we know we should do as runners and still get them wrong. Coach Jeff brings his years of coaching experience to the show to share why runners make these 5 easy to fix mistakes: Overdoing recovery runs Ineffective strength training Rationalizing not having enough time Running through injury Eating the wrong fuel before and after training You might think this list looks basic, and you'd be right. Even veteran runners screw up the easy stuff sometimes and fixing them can help you to make massive performance gains. Marathon training is hard, so don't screw up the easy stuff. This week's show brought to you by: MAS Iron Outside of training deficiencies, low iron is one of the most common reasons for poor results during workouts and races. Recent research indicates that almost 56% of male runners and 86% of female runners suffer from an iron deficiency that severely hampers performance. The problem with eating iron-rich foods or supplementing with traditional iron supplements is that iron is notoriously difficult for the body to absorb and utilize. In fact, only about 25% of dietary iron found in animal sources is absorbed while 17% or less of the iron from plant sources is absorbed. But MAS Iron has found a way to combat these absorption issues to ensure you can get the iron you need for health and performance. By combining the most efficiently absorbed form of elemental iron with clinically proven ingredients to aid in absorption, MAS Iron performs like no other iron product on the market. In fact, clinical research has shown the combination of ingredients in MAS Iron can quadruple absorption and increase bioavailability by 30%, all while reducing GI issues by 50%. No matter what injury you have, it could be a stress fracture or it could be tendinitis or it could be a sprained ligament, but whatever you do you have to sure you don't get re-injured, because that could be brutally demoralizing! Because most runners think jogging is a lot easier than “real running” you might presume it's a lot safer for you to just start jogging to test out your state of recovery. Today on the Doc On The Run Podcast, we're talking about why jogging is a terrible way to test the state of healing of a running injury.

The episode covers the importance of understanding individual recovery rates, known as ramp rates, and how they can be adjusted based on the runner's progress and the nature of their injury. The episode emphasizes the need for patience and trust in the recovery process, as well as the importance of seeking professional guidance when necessary. Takeaways Recovery from running injuries is not a simple process. Individual experiences, like Eric's, illustrate the variability in recovery. The ramp rate is crucial for determining recovery speed. Staying within the adaptive zone is essential for progress. Different injuries require different recovery approaches. Age and health significantly impact recovery rates. Lifestyle factors can affect a runner's adaptive capacity. Dynamic adjustments to the ramp rate are often necessary. Trusting the process is vital for injured runners. Professional guidance can help optimize recovery strategies.

He shares personal anecdotes and professional insights to illustrate how misaligned expectations can hinder recovery and performance. The episode emphasizes the importance of understanding the timeline for recovery, the need for realistic goal-setting, and the value of having a coach or therapist to guide the process. Boyd provides practical takeaways for runners dealing with injuries, encouraging them to think in terms of months rather than weeks and to focus on long-term trends in their recovery journey. Takeaways Accurate expectations are crucial for successful rehabilitation. Many runners fail to return to their desired level due to unrealistic expectations. Recovery from injuries often takes longer than anticipated, especially for tendons and bones. Setting realistic goals can help align expectations and improve outcomes. It's important to focus on long-term trends rather than day-to-day fluctuations in recovery. Coaches and therapists play a vital role in managing expectations and guiding recovery. Runners should think in terms of months, not weeks, for rehabilitation timelines. Understanding the severity of an injury can influence recovery expectations. Maintaining a consistent rehabilitation routine is key to recovery success. Having a support system can significantly enhance the rehabilitation process.

Connect with Francis: Research Gate: Francis Del Duchetto Review Paper: Can Foot Orthoses Beneft Symptomatic Runners? Mechanistic and Clinical Insights Through a Scoping Review Summary In this episode of the Adaptive Zone podcast, Matthew Boyd interviews Francis Del Duchetto, a podiatrist, about the role of foot orthoses in treating running injuries. They discuss the different types of orthoses, the importance of research in understanding their effects, and how they can help redistribute loads in injured runners. The episode also covers the clinical applications of orthoses, their preventative use, and the differences between custom and prefabricated options. Francis shares insights on the long-term use of orthoses and the importance of a comprehensive treatment approach for runners. Takeaways Foot orthoses are medical devices used to treat lower limb injuries. There are different types of foot orthoses: simple, prefabricated, and custom-made. Research on foot orthoses for injured runners is limited but growing. Foot orthoses can help redistribute loads from injured to non-injured structures. They are most effective when used as part of a multimodal treatment approach. Custom orthoses may not always be necessary; prefabricated options can be effective. Preventative use of orthoses is debated; other factors may be more important. Long-term use of orthoses should be monitored and adjusted as needed. The choice of running shoes can affect the effectiveness of orthoses. Research and clinical practice should continue to evolve in this area. Whenever you consciously give your brain direction, your subconscious brain will go to work to achieve it. Your subconscious mind is not just controlling things that you want to happen but it's controlling things that you don't want, too. If you focus on negativity, if you focus on your injury getting worse, you will probably get worse. So, the question is can you take this aspect of your brain and controlling your subconscious mind and use it to your advantage when you are trying to heal and get back to running? Can simply thinking about healing make your running injury heal faster? Well, that is what we're talking about today on the Doc On The Run Podcast.

“The two different foot types that can both have plantar fasciitis are the low arch, or flatter foot, and the high arch, or more rounded foot. Both can present with plantar fasciitis, but each will require a very different treatment plan,” explains Dr. Emily Schilling, a chiropractor specializing in foot and lower leg health for runners. Dr. Schilling joins Dr. Andrew Fix to talk about the link between foot mechanics, gait, and the unique demands of running. Dr. Schilling points out that understanding whether you have a low or high arch can be essential to keeping injuries like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and stress fractures at bay. For example, she shares that low-arched runners often benefit from specific muscle strengthening to support the plantar fascia, while high-arched runners may need a focus on shock absorption to prevent stress injuries. They also discuss in this episode how choosing the right footwear makes a difference—stack height, heel-to-toe drop, and shoe shape all influence gait mechanics and injury risk. Whether you're a runner looking to prevent injury or a health professional aiming to help others do the same, this episode offers practical, research-backed insights to keep your feet healthy and your running performance strong. Quotes “In our office, all of our appointments for new patients are an hour and a half. And so that's where we want to know everything from biomechanics to how you're running, how you're loading, what range of motion looks like, history, all of that good stuff to form the background from that whole picture of what in fact we are dealing with… A huge part of it is education and not only what plantar fasciitis is, but how to go about rehabbing that so that then they have those tools.” (08:07 | Dr. Emily Schilling) “The two different foot types that can both have plantar fasciitis are the low arch, or flatter foot, and the high arch, or more rounded foot. Both can present with plantar fasciitis, but each will require a very different treatment plan.” (10:12 | Dr. Emily Schilling) “If we have a lower arch or flatter foot, I like to think of it as if we have a bed frame with a mattress on top. Our bed frame represents the plantar fascia, and the mattress is the flexor digitorum brevis muscle. If this muscle—the ‘mattress'—isn't strong enough, and there's extra load, like kids jumping on the bed, that bed frame is going to wear out. The plantar fascia, if that muscle isn't doing its job, will take on a lot more stress and load.” (10:34 | Dr. Emily Schilling) “If we're landing really heavily on our foot, the brain will respond with, ‘No, I don't like that. That's uncomfortable, not good.' It will then adjust, figuring out how to land more lightly. This adjustment happens because the brain can actually feel what's going on. Typically, we don't use low-cushion shoes for long distances or everyday runs. However, using them for shorter runs, maybe a mile or two each week, provides valuable feedback and encourages subtle improvements, making running more injury-free.” (21:30 | Dr. Emily Schilling) Connect with Dr. Emily Schilling: https://www.thsclinic.com/ https://gaithappens.com/ https://www.instagram.com/dremilyschilling/ SideKick Tool: https://bit.ly/4a6CqJS Movemate: Award-Winning Active Standing Board https://shorturl.at/egkA1 Promo Code: DRA15 15% off RAD Roller: http://radroller.refr.cc/drandrewfix Revogreen https://revogreen.co/drandrewfix HYDRAGUN https://bit.ly/43rAtnX Athletic Brewing: 20% off: https://athleticbrewing.rfrl.co/vrmx8 20% off: ANDREWF20 Connect with Physio Room: Website | https://physioroomco.com/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/physioroomco/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/physioroomco Andrew's Personal Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/drandrewfix/ Andrew's Personal Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/andrew.fix.9/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

There's a lot of bad information out there when it comes to injury treatment and prevention. That's why it's so important to make sure you get information from a reliable source like today's guest, doctor of chiropractic Chantelle Maryuen. Chantelle works at the Runner's Academy clinic in Toronto, offering a variety of services helping runners with “striving to make striving for your goals a joyful experience rather than a painful one”. Part of the challenge in following research-based principles is that they are so specific to the individual. This means that good treatment for one person could be totally counter-productive for someone else. We want to make this episode as relevant as possible to you, so we'll cover what treatment options are proven to work for the vast majority of runners but also where to find good information to make treatment decisions for yourself. Treatment doesn't just apply to injuries though. How you treat niggles or soreness can be just as important to keeping you healthy. Whatever your current health, we promise you'll learn something new. During the interview we'll cover topic including: What is the difference between a chiropractor and physiotherapist, and how can each play a role in supporting good health How often and when to consider seeing a clinical professional What should runners focus on to avoid getting injured What popular treatment options are actually proven by research to provide benefit How to seek out good advice with treating an injury or pain How to differentiate normal training fatigue from something that might need medical attention A big part of achieving your running goals is staying healthy so that you can get your training done. Unfortunately, taking the wrong approach to treating injuries could be making the situation even worse. That's why you should listen up, to make sure you know what treatment options are proven to help keep you running pain-free. Guest Bio: Dr. Chantelle Maryuen is a graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She was a competitive cross country and middle to long distance track runner for York University Track Club and the University of Toronto's Varsity Blues. Today I was on the call with an injured runner who is trying to figure out how soon she can start running. She had been having pain and she was getting relief by taking over-the-counter medication. She asked me whether not that was good or bad. Whenever we have pain, we can simply take a pill, and the pain will go away. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs are powerful readily available painkillers. I do not just get rid of inflammation they also control or reduce pain. So, when is it okay or not okay to reduce your pain with NSAIDs if you are in the process of recovering from a running over training injury? That is a great question and that is what we're talking about today on the Doc On The Run podcast!
