According to the Ohio Department of Health, the infant mortality rate not only serves as a key indicator of maternal and infant health but is also an important measure of the health status of a whole community.rnrnAnd this year at the Cleveland International Film Festival, a documentary film showcasing nurses' heroic efforts to support mothers and babies won the coveted audience choice award. American Delivery certainly hit home. The City of Cleveland has one of the worst maternal and infant mortality rates in the developed world, especially among women and infants of color. Yet, to support women and babies, we must go beyond healthcare delivery. Public-private coalitions like First Year Cleveland are rising to the challenge, building a community movement that identifies causes and develops sustainable, system-driven solutions.rnrnJoin the City Club as we hear from First Year Cleveland's Angela Newman-White and American Delivery film director Carolyn Jones on the maternal and infant vitality movement, and how we can ensure all mothers and babies are guaranteed healthy beginnings.

Put down your Timbits, and head to one of Banter's two locations for a pile of poutine! Banter recently reopened in Gordon Square and the combination bottle shop, sausage haus and poutinerie is the place to be for hearty fare inspired by the Quebecois (sometimes called the less dignified-sounding "Quebeckers." Plenty of research went into Banter, which also has a second take out shop at the Van Aken District. Owner Matt Stipe wants you to think about the poutine, which takes some liberties from the traditional brown gravy and curds variety, but he also takes great pride in being a wine and beer shop, with curated selections he chose himself. Trust me on this, the fries alone are worth the visit. But, considering that you can top them in a myriad of ways, with squeaky Ohio-made cheese curds, well you've got something close to paradise, friends. This episode is presented with support from Chef Douglas Katz. Partners include the Cleveland International Film Festival, April 3-13, 2024, and the Ashtabula County Visitors Bureau.

Laura Gabbert found purpose during the Covid 19 pandemic creating her documentary Food and Country. In collaboration with renowned food writer and critic Ruth Reichl, Gabbert created a film that depicts the early days of the pandemic as told through people on the front lines of local food. From farmers and ranchers in rural America, to fine dining restaurateurs in urban settings, to small minority-owned businesses that are the epicenters of their communities, everyone had to forge a new path to survive. Gabbert even spent time in Ohio with Lee and Bob Jones of The Chef's Garden in Milan, Ohio (about an hour west of Cleveland). The film shares many emotional, personal stories and interviews delivered via Zoom, and beautiful, inspiring visuals from across America that depict the resilience, ingenuity and hope of food producers. While the pandemic is in the rear view mirror for most of us, it will take you back to that time and remind you just how far we've come since. Laura was in town for the Cleveland International Film Festival and her film is now available to watch as part of the CIFF47 Streams program. For details, visit clevelandfilm.org. This episode is presented with support from Chef Douglas Katz and Tomato Monster Heirlooms.
Film can serve as an agent of change. It shares stories, amplifies voices, and draws attention to our world's most pressing issues. Today, all eyes are on Ukraine's fight for freedom and peace--which they have fought for since their declaration of independence in 1991. In partnership with the Cleveland International Film Festival, the City Club will be joined by two renowned directors whose frontline films redefine wartime documentaries.rnrnDirected by Lesya Kalynska, "A Rising Fury" was filmed over nearly a decade and begins with 2014's Maidan Revolution. It captured a portrait of resistance in Ukraine during the years before and right up to the 2022 Russian invasion. The film provides an intense look at the intimate tactics taken by Russian forces to infiltrate Ukraine and make possible the devastating invasions to come.rnrnEvgeny Afineevsky's "Freedom on Fire" is narrated by Helen Mirren, and follows the war in Ukraine from a ground-level view. Focusing largely on the experiences of average citizens, including mothers, volunteers, and journalists, the documentary portrays life as Ukrainians lived during the 2022 invasion and the fraught years leading up to it.rnrnJoin these two directors at the City Club as we learn more about the challenges of filming a war documentary, and what it took to share ground-level accounts of Ukraine's ongoing fight for survival and independence.

This is a different episode than I usually make. But, given that we will soon have an influx of visitors for the Cleveland International Film Festival and many other fantastic things happening here in the coming months, I decided to make an episode that highlights some of my favorite things...and those of some other Clevelanders in the hospitality biz. I was inspired to create this episode after creating my own "staycation" with the help of the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. I spent a dreamy 24 hours in downtown and saw the city in a new light. In this episode we meet some of the Kimpton team and hear about the hotel, restaurant and what they like to do when they're not taking care of guests. You'll hear from Illinois native Lindsay Smith, owner of Flight, a great little corner wine bar in Gordon Square, and Chef Doug Katz who grew up here and liked it SO much...he stayed. (Lucky for us!) So whether you are a local who doesn't get out as much as you might like, a visitor here for the first or fifth time, or someone thinking about making Cleveland your home, there is something for you here. Share with someone who might like this episode...it's the neighborly thing to do!
JB Douglas describes foraging as one of the most accessible and natural things we can do...but it is also fraught with overtones of land access, politics an racial and environmental justice. Not to mention, you have to know what you're doing! JB is the VP of Culinary and Community for Foraged, this very cool online marketplace for foraged, wild and unusual foods. An avid forager himself, JB proudly identifies as a "queer forager and food maker," and and he's a current student in the sustainable food systems program at the Culinary Institute of America. He's masterful at creating recipes with wild foods and he loves sharing ways we can all introduce the practice into our lives. We talk about products on Foraged.com and the history of foraging, and he also helps us understand the importance of how wild foods, and access to nature in general can help communities be healthier in a myriad of ways. Check out the website, it's fascinating! *Food access for everyone is important to me, and if you would like to learn more about the Greater Cleveland Food Bank during the Harvest for Hunger campaign, please visit greaterclevelandfoodbank.org. This episode is made possible from Chef Douglas Katz and the Katz group of restaurants. I'm grateful for a partnership with the Cleveland International Film Festival to promote food-related films and other important work at this year's festival, March 22-April 1.

Accomplished songwriter and film producer Kurt Rosenberg has been composing Scottish/Irish Music for over 25 years. Today, he is well on track to achieving his dreams of collaborating with some of the world's finest, as well as partnering with the theatre industry to help produce his musicals.Rosenberg's music encompasses various genres of Celtic, Folk, Pop, 40's Ballroom to 50's Jazz and Film.“Each piece of my music conveys a different emotion, thought, or message,” he says. “I want to compose melodies that touch people and are memorable.”“Highland Home,” Rosenberg's ode to Scotland, is about longing to return to a place that fulfils us and brings us joy. He went on to produce the award-winning music short film Highland Home, internationally recognized for its thoughtful lyrics and distinct sound.Highland Home was selected to screen at prestigious festivals including the Cleveland International Film Festival, The Oxford Short Film Festival, and the World-Fest Houston International Film Festival. It won a Platinum Remi Award from World-Fest, a Director's Choice Award at Santa Barbara's International Fine Arts Film Festival, and the Best Music Video Award at Bath's Jane Austen International Film Festival. Rosenberg won Best Lyrics Award at the International Music Video Awards in London.Being successful in the industry requires hard work, passion and dedication to the craft. “A composer has to be disciplined,” Rosenberg explains. “This means that they must work on their music every day. If a composer wants to be successful, they need to view it as a job, not as an avocation.”He particularly loves the process of songwriting and composing. Though perfecting a melody and getting the arrangement down can take days, even weeks, Rosenberg finds it to be a rather “mind-freeing, liberating task” that allows him to experience a meditative state. As Rosenberg continues along his musical journey, he is driven to make a lasting impact on others through his lyrics and sounds. Several exciting projects are in the works that will surely attract listeners of all backgrounds worldwide.“The Moon Followed Me to Falmouth,” Rosenberg's English sea shanty-inspired song, will be completed as an animated music short by the end of May. It will begin screening at film festivals in July/August.“Strolling Down Brighton Pier” is Rosenberg's homage to English musical theatre (think “My Fair Lady”). The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will record the instrumental track in London on August 2. Rosenberg plans to add the vocals in 2023, and release the film in 2024.“Dawn at Gougane Barra,” Rosenberg's Irish Orchestral piece, will be recorded in Dublin on August 8. This recording will be the soundtrack for a music drone video. Filming is scheduled for August 10 and 11 at Gougane Barra. It will be screened in Ireland and the USA at hired cinemas, and will be posted online. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 300."Cobra Kai"Director: Marielle Woods.I could not be more proud to have the 300th episode be a guest that's this awesome. Really loved speaking with Marielle who is really passionate about filmmaking. We talk all things Cobra Kai, who the real villain is and why the show manages to touch all ages and generations. Great talk.Marielle Woods is an award-winning, queer filmmaker who thrives in the high-stakes world of action storytelling. She pushes emotional buttons and visual boundaries, telling stories that make audiences think — with a few explosions and car chases along the way. After receiving her BA from Harvard in 2008, Woods moved west and has been working as an LA-based director and producer ever since. She got her start in docudrama television, crafting shows for networks including Discovery, History, A&E and Animal Planet. She cut her teeth filming gunfights, avalanches and animal attacks, traveling around the globe in pursuit of good stories. Now, she lives every week like it's Shark Week. Determined to move into the scripted world, Woods cold-called and warm-emailed her way to observing on FAST & FURIOUS 6 and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Shortly thereafter, she transitioned a similar shadowing opportunity into a hired position assisting the stunt team on JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO. She then moved up to become a Stunt Department Coordinator, and spent almost a decade working with some of the best Stunt Coordinators and Second Unit Directors in the business on projects including BABY DRIVER, BRIGHT, and WESTWORLD. Woods' short films have toured the festival circuit with acceptances including LA Shorts Fest, Montreal World Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Cinequest, Rhode Island Flickers, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and NBCU Short Cuts. She flipped a car in the jungles of Puerto Rico for her short, MI CORAZON, and recreated war-torn Iraq on a soundstage in Culver City for her 2018 film, DO NO HARM. In 2019, Woods turned sign-spinning into a martial art for her AFI DWW film, SPIN. Woods has been recognized as a member of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women, the Universal Directors Initiative and the HBOAccess Directing Fellowship. She has directed episodes for Seasons 4 & 5 of COBRA KAI for Netflix and Sony TV. Her original queer-action-romance, HEART SHOT, made as part of Netflix's Emerging Filmmakers Initiative, is streaming worldwide on Netflix.Currently, Woods is in development on a number of original action projects spanning a range of genres and tones. She is working to create “non-binary” filmmaking – blending the emotional resonance that some might deem “feminine” with the societally assigned “masculinity” of the action genre.Welcome, Marielle Woods.Instagram: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Facebook: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Twitter:@mdmcriticEmail: Mondaymorningcritic@gmail.comYouTube: Monday Morning Critic Podcastwww.mmcpodcast.com
ENTERTAINING SHORT FILMS is a new category on the RPA Network, which features indie short films for your enjoyment! We applaud these creators! The Jigsaw is a multi award winning short film, a short horror film which won over 30 awards worldwide during its 2014-2015 film festival run. It was selected by Oscar qualifying film festivals like The Montreal World Film Festival, LA Shorts and the Cleveland International Film Festival. We believe it is one of the best short horror films to come out in recent years and stands its own as a superb short film for all to enjoy. Inspired by an old ghost story the directors enjoyed as children, they hope it will continue to be enjoyed by many people for years to come. http://www.thejigsawshort.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thejigsawsho...

Betsie Norris is the Founder and Executive Director of Adoption Network Cleveland: The Ohio Family Connection. Betsie is an adoptee who searched for and was reunited with her birthparents and siblings in 1986, when she was in her mid-twenties. She emerged from that experience with strong convictions about the lifelong journey of adoption for all involved, and the need for systemic change. She found Adoption Network Cleveland in 1988, was a volunteer for the first 7 years, and has been the Executive Director since 1995. With a wide array of programs and services, Adoption Network Cleveland has been recognized nationally as a successful model for effective service and advocacy for members of the adoption community including adoptees, adoptive, foster and kinship families, birthparents and siblings, youth in foster care and related professionals. Betsie has become a frequent spokesperson in the media and has led the organization to long-term success building innovative programs and having a strong advocacy voice. Major advocacy achievements include leading successful efforts to decrease barriers to permanency for youth lingering in foster care, and changing laws about access to records resulting in Ohio adoptees gaining access to their original birth certificates. Adoption Network Cleveland served as the lead agency of the Adopt Cuyahoga's Kids Initiative, a public-private-philanthropic partnership which was responsible for reducing the number of youth waiting for adoption in Cuyahoga County foster care from 1,700 in 2004 to approximately 500 in 2018. The organization has supported and assisted in thousands of successful adoptee/birthparent, adoptee/sibling and DNA searches and reunions, and has been a leader in supporting families to enhance permanency for children and youth. Over a 25+ year period, Betsie took the lead on legislation to reform Ohio's adoption laws, and as a result all Ohio-born adult adoptees adopted have access to to their original birth certificates, including 400,000 adoptees adopted in Ohio's formerly "closed" period (1964-1996) starting in March 2015. The story of her involvement is highlighted in the short documentary https://vimeo.com/101580095 (An Adoptee ROARed in Ohio: The Betsie Norris Story) by Jean Strauss, which debuted at the Cleveland International Film Festival in 2014. Betsie is co-author of Journeys After Adoption: Understanding the Lifelong Process (Bergin & Garvey, 2002) and her story is featured in several books. Prior to her work in adoption and child welfare, Betsie worked as an RN in child and adolescent psychiatry. Music by Corey Quinn

Director Gabriel Gaurano talks about his boxing bocumentary Team Meryland about 12-year-old Meryland Gonzalez fights in-and-out of the ring attempting to be crowned the 2019 Junior Olympics Champion. Director, Editor and Director of Photography, Gabriel Gaurano is a filmmaker whose work has screened and garnered awards at festivals like AFI, Palm Springs International Shorts Fest, and many more. Gaurano's experiences have pulled him towards telling real stories of resilient families who push through the impossible. In this case, Gaurano was lucky enough to be in a San Diego, CA park when he met Meryland Gonzalez's father who approached them in wanting to tell the story of his young daughter training for the 2019 Junior Olympics in the sport of boxing. Meryland Gonzalez is from the Watts district of Los Angeles, born to immigrant parents that struggle to make ends meet while supporting their daughter's dreams of becoming a champion. Official Synopsis: Gabriel Gaurano's documentary short film Team Meryland focuses on a 12 year old Mexican-American boxer's second chance at life as she overcomes a past medical trauma. This inspirational story already screened at many prestigious film festivals including the Oscar qualifying Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Cleveland International Film Festival where it won the FilmSlam Best Short Award. It will be screening at the 2021 Indy Shorts International Film Festival: Heartland Film this month. On this episode, Patrick Shepherd, the Associate Director of the Cleveland International Film Festival (now heading into its 45th year) swings by Happy Hour to discuss what it took for the festival to change course at the last minute this year from in-person screenings (as is typical) to only streaming due to coronavirus pandemic shutdowns. Hi everyone! Welcome back for another Indie Wednesday. Every Wednesday we like to feature a microbudget or independent production, and sometimes we’re lucky enough to chat with the filmmakers themselves. Today, I’ll be reviewing ALIVE, the latest short by Swedish filmmaker Jimmy Olsson, which takes a fun look at sex and ableism. We’ll hear a few snippets from our interview with Jimmy during this review, but for a few other similar episodes, check out our reviews for TURBINES (Episode #721), CLOSURE (Episode #707), and SANDOW (Episode #693). We’ll have a bit of format switch today. Before the review, I’ll run the audio for the full teaser trailer for ALIVE. Check the show notes for a link to the video, along with English subtitles for those who need them. Throughout the review, I’ll be splicing in segments from our short interview. You can listen to the full interview on our Patreon page this coming Sunday. I was very thankful for the opportunity to speak with Jimmy Olsson. Subscribe to stay current with the latest releases. Contribute at Patreon for exclusive content. Connect with us over social media to continue the conversation. Here we go! ///// > ///// Today’s movie is ALIVE(2020), the dramatic short written and directed by Jimmy Olsson. Victoria (Eva Johansson) was a combat athlete until she suffered a brain hemorrhage, leaving her partially paralyzed and with a case of aphasia. She’s cared for by Ida (Madeleine Martin), who helps her with regular tasks and transportation, and spends time with her boyfriend Anton (Philip Oros). When Victoria asks Ida if anyone would want to be intimate with her, they create Victoria a Tinder page, which leads to a tense moment. No spoilers. Growing up in rural Illinois during the 1980s and 1990s, I didn’t have much interaction with the disabled community. Most of my exposure was with individuals who were once able-bodied, but lost a limb, or had acquired a degenerative illness. It was also the vast majority of the noble depictions of the disabled community on the big and small screen, and it gave me the mistaken impression that being disabled was a matter of bad luck or old age. It didn’t help that our district’s approach to specialized education at the time was grouping and isolating them, and the big and small screen gleefully mocked those individuals. It wasn’t until college when I met someone with cerebral palsy that I had my own notions challenged. It forced me to greatly expand my notion of what disabled meant and how it affected people differently. It also made me want to see more realistic depictions of the community in film and television. The last twenty years have seen a great expansion for representation, beginning with mostly token roles and expanding into multiple shows and feature films. Which made me wonder where Jimmy got the idea. JIMMY: “I listened to a podcast last summer and I heard a similar story about a carer and the disabled person. It was a similar story about a disabled person who wanted to have an, I think it was an escort, or something. There was a moment the carer wasn’t allowed in the disabled person’s home when the escort was arriving. I saw a drama there, if the carer doesn’t know who’s showing up, and what could happen, and what will happen, and who’s fault is it if something goes wrong? That inspired me to write this story.” One of those topics, previously thought to be taboo about the disabled community, is sex. We speak so much about the social integration of the disabled community that we forget that each person is more than their disability, including very real, very powerful sexual feelings. Film and television abound with able love stories, but ALIVE allows us to consider the possibilities of love and sex for the disabled community in the modern age. JIMMY: “I think many, many people... many able people have a certain view of disabled people, how they look, and they judge people if they look a certain way or behave a certain way. I think we need to shine a light on disabled people that they are exactly the same as everyone else.” Victoria, as a character, is obviously central to making ALIVE work as the lead character. Her past as a combat athlete and her present as a disabled person due to injury allows her to appeal to both populations and challenge our perceptions. The film opens with Victoria out with Ida in public, with Olsson capturing shots at Victoria’s wheelchair level. We’re quickly invested into Victoria as a character, getting a sense of how others see her, largely because of the excellent casting of Eva Johansson. JIMMY: “I saw Eva, and she did a lot of research. She was very interested in the role and so I went with my gut feeling, because she’s a real character actress. She does a lot of theater. She really went into the role immensely, like, she researched for two months before we shot it.” Aphasia is a difficult condition to replicate, but Eva’s preparation pays off big time, finding the right balance between realism and pacing for cinematic effect. Eva communicates so much with her face and body while Victoria struggles to get the words out. You can feel any misguided expectations melting away as Victoria’s story progresses, especially when the suitor shows up, played by Jimmy Olsson himself. I had to ask him if he wrote the role with himself in mind. JIMMY: “No, it’s just coincidence. Basically, I did it in my last film as well, but it was basically, because we shot it without money, and the producer said, ‘Why don’t you do it?’ And I was like, ‘Ah, what the hell! It’s no dialogue. I look kind of shady. Why not?’” ALIVE is a dramatic short that challenges our expectations about the disabled community. Coming in just over twenty minutes, Olsson weaves a nicely encapsulated tale, anchored by an incredible, expressive performance by Eva Johansson. Fans of films about the disabled community, or folks looking to expand their notions about the community, should definitely check out this film. Rotten Tomatoes: NR Metacritic: NR One Movie Punch: 8.0/10 ALIVE (2020) is not rated and will be playing at the Cleveland International Film Festival, running from Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 through Sunday, April 5th, 2020. Head over to clevelandfilm.org for more information, including a schedule. We’ll link back to the review here once it’s available for streaming.

Tami Brown currently serves as the General Manager for the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, the only independent aquarium in Ohio. Tami promotes the tenets of “servant leadership”, and her fascinating career path has wound between the arts and culture industry and the travel and tourism industry, giving her unique insights into both. Tami has spent her career working with attractions in northeast Ohio including the Western Reserve Historical Society, the Center for Contemporary Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Cleveland International Film Festival. She served as Vice President of Marketing for Positively Cleveland, a non-profit dedicated to using tourism to drive economic vitality throughout the region. She also serves on many boards of directors, including the Ohio Travel Association, the Tourism Ohio Advisory Board, the Center for Community Solutions, and Flats Forward (representing the Flats neighborhood of Cleveland). On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Tami about the overlap between the arts and culture industry and the travel and tourism industry, and why that often-overlooked relationship has the potential to be a powerful driver for both industries. Listen to our conversation, and learn how effective partnerships can benefit everyone involved. What You Will Learn: How Tami’s career diversion into marketing ironically led her to her dream job in the arts and culture industry. Why authenticity is the key to standing out as a desirable destination The power and potential of leveraging connections within different industries How an unexpected partnership with a local craft brewery to helped grow a program to protect and endangered turtle species The importance of communication when creating a partnership Why Do Partnerships Matter? One of the major challenges we the travel and tourism industry face is in finding new ways to promote ourselves. Tami provides a great example of the benefits that partnering with other organizations can provide. Her contacts within both the cultural and tourism industries have allowed her to use outside-the-box thinking to come up with innovative marketing possibilities. There is an obvious and logical overlap between tourism and the arts and culture industry that is too often ignored. By reaching out and forming cross-industry connections, we can form strong relationships that have broad-reaching effects. When Opportunity Knocks Opportunities to promote our industry are everywhere, as long as we remain open-minded and ready to cooperate. We already know the dramatic economic impact that destination marketing can have, so the natural extension of that mindset lies in coordinating our efforts wherever possible. Through its partnerships with businesses and organizations in a variety of industries, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium is leading by example. That’s why it was my great pleasure to speak with Tami about her efforts. Resources: Website: www.greaterclevelandaquarium.com Episode Transcript

This January, FilmRise released the chilling true crime documentary “Unseen,” from award-winning director and producer Laura Paglin. For two years, women had been disappearing from Mount Pleasant – a poverty-stricken, African-American neighborhood in Cleveland – with little investigation from police and city officials. Then in 2009, a reported rape led Cleveland police to a grisly discovery— the bodies of eleven women decomposing in the house and yard of known sex offender Anthony Sowell. How was it that a serial killer was able to operate virtually in plain sight for two years?Told in riveting detail by the women who were able to escape Sowell’s deadly clutches, “Unseen” draws viewers into a world where marginalized women, plagued by drug use, shunned by society and dismissed by the police, became easy prey for a predatory monster. “Unseen” questions not only the police failures in this case but also why Sowell’s neighbors turned a blind eye to his bizarre activities. Through intimate, revealing interviews, Paglin gives voice to Sowell’s victims, allowing them to tell their stories, showing us how they attempt to come to grips with their horrific experiences. “Unseen” was an Official Selection at Cleveland International Film Festival and DOC NYC. It was also a contender for the Social Impact Award at Greenwich International Film Festival. Unseen acts as a haunting indictment of a police force that failed its citizens.” UNSEEN: A True Crime Documentary About a Cleveland Serial Killer and the Women He Preyed On-Laura Paglin*Available for sale or rental on Amazon &iTunes. www.unseendocumentary.com

While in New York, Hollister & O’Toole had the enormous pleasure of speaking with the amazingly talented writer and director Elliot Thomson – founder of Empire Arts Film Corp. Elliot’s short film “Le Refuge” is currently enjoying a very successful run at festivals around the globe – from Istanbul to the Cleveland International Film Festival – an Oscar-qualifying fest, where it recently won Best Comedy Short out of 224 films. Le Refuge elegantly tells the tale of an American lawyer – on vacation with her family in Lausanne, Switzerland – who’s coming unhinged from the guilt of representing the manufacturer of a cheap car that tips over when it turns left. Talking with Elliot is like viewing his art – witty and thought-provoking – and very, very engaging. We might as well call this podcast How to Make a Film with Integrity. Holding on to Your Vision. Collaborating without Compromising. Elliot aimed high, and landed on his star. Come along for the ride - listen to how his short film is linked to Broadway greats, the New York Philharmonic - and even the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. We spoke to Elliot for nearly 2 hours - truly, one of the most engaging afternoons we’ve had. While we couldn’t manage to whittle that conversation down to a length shorter than “Le Refuge” itself, we wanted to include here as much as possible - since, in our opinion, listening to these 38 minutes with Elliot is a gift (and one that sure beats the price of film school). Integrity in (wry) storytelling. That’s what it’s all about.
