Introducing Life After with David Vobora! David is a former St. Louis Rams' teammate of Chris Long and this is his new podcast, which dives into inspirational and motivational stories that show struggle and triumph. David identifies crucial - and sometimes tragic - moments in the lives of others that helped shape who they are as people. Listen today as we give you an amazing look at the Makayla Noble is a former world champion cheerleader who, in a freak backyard cheer accident, ended up falling and breaking her neck, immediately becoming quadriplegic. She played the hand she was dealt, rehabbed at the Adaptive Training Foundation, has found herself and continues to push her limits. This young lady has a spirit and brightness that is unmatched and a determination that shined through when she crawled 40 yards on turf. Not only is Makayla's story about overcoming an accident but she also dealt with serious mental health issues as a competitive cheerleader. She describes her daily battle of grinding to be the best competitor she could be while also balancing her life as a high school student, friend and daughter. This story is going to touch you because Makayla is very honest about what she struggled with prior to this accident yet she felt like God laid this path before her to become who she is today. We also have a fun cameo from Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys. He jumps in to surprise her with a signed jersey and support. So tune in because Makayla's episode is going to hit you right in my heart. Today we have 2 incredible stories! They highlight how Building Homes for Heroes helps combat veterans overcome traumatic injuries, with the gift of a free home. We start with the story of Army Special Forces, Master Sergeant (Ret.) George Vera. He shares the gripping story of his “Alive Day” after being shot during a vicious firefight in Afghanistan that left him paralyzed. Next, BHH founder Andy Pujol describes how the idea of helping his fellow Americans was born while volunteering at ground zero in NYC, immediately after the 9/11 attack. Pujol describes the dystopian landscape he saw in NYC that day, the start of Building Homes for Heroes, and the first veteran that received a free home. This week is my “Alive Day”. It's the day my family and I celebrate because it's not only the day my life changed forever, but it's more importantly the day I got a second chance at life. In this episode of Bouncing Forward, I share exactly what that day was like for me: from living my regular day-to-day life to being told I only have 2 hours left to live. I also share the number one thing that helped me not give up when I lost the life I knew, and that one thing was gratitude. Plus, I share how I find gratitude in my darkest moments and how you can cultivate it too when you need it most.

He is also an insightful, thoughtful and articulate guest who has so many interesting things to share. Joey talks about everything from his blindness, which stemmed from a brain tumor in early childhood; his entry into the world of music and sound production and how he embraced it as a “calling" as a blind youth; and his advice to young folks, blind and sighted who are thinking of getting into the music business. Pete Lane had the opportunity to work on Jeff’s interview with Joey, and said of the experience” “This was an absolute pleasure! Joey is articulate and funny and I wanted to listen more than anything. As usual, Jeff conducts a fabulous interview, identifying with many of the bands, albums, principles and recording concepts that Joey delved into. This podcast offers something for everyone, ranging from in depth and thoughtful ideas about blindness, independence and the tools we use in our day to day lies, to “geeky” discussions about microphones, recording software and hardware. Jeff also follows Joey on a walk down memory lane as he describes his band’s recording session at the famous Sun Studio in Memphis, where so many iconic musicians, like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and so many more, spent time recording the soundtracks of our lives. Pete said he had a blast adding so much of Joey’s music into this podcast, so put on some good headphones or find a good speaker to listen to!
