What happens when you've lived your whole life behind a mask maybe one involving the idealism of masculinity - was that toxic masculinity. Then one day it falls away? In this gripping episode, Amardeep Parmar sits down to talk about the moment everything changed and the surprising lessons he's learned from it all. From his early years growing up in Barkingside, East London, faking confidence to fit in, to losing friends to suicide, Amardeep's story is one of constant reinvention. He candidly shares how, even though he seemed to have it all together on the outside, inside he was spiralling. His struggles with anxiety, and faking it and the crushing pressure to appear strong offer a raw, unfiltered look at how toxic masculinity nearly took over. But it's not all heavy. Amardeep's breakthrough moment comes with a decision that will surprise you: instead of drowning in the past or fearing the future, he chooses to live "aggressively" in the present. And that's just the start. Amardeep shares how, many moments in his life started as side projects, experimenting that led to finding his magic. He grew faster than all fellow writers except for one, Barack Obama, the US President. What was he writing about you'll have to watch the episode to find out. The episode takes a surprising turn when Amardeep talks about the impact of his father's death, a moment that rocked his world and everything changed again. What was meant to be a side hustle, BAE HQ, started as a legacy project, a way to honour his dad's belief in him. But even more unexpected? How this tragedy became the catalyst for Amardeep's radical shift in perspective on work, grief, and self-worth. And, just when you think you know where the story is headed, Amardeep flips the script again, opening up about the strong female influences in his life, how they've reshaped his views on vulnerability, and what he really thinks about traditional 'alpha' masculinity - especially in a Punjabi background. This conversation is full of twists, heartfelt moments, and unfiltered honesty. It's not just about mental health; it's about confronting who you thought you were and realising who you really want to become. Listen now to hear how Amardeep Parmar went from living behind a mask to living his life, on his own terms, and why he believes every man needs to do the same. He shares what Passion means for him, his life, and his work, leaving a poignant message for young people. Amardeep is a harbinger of ‘Oneness' and shares Guru Nanak's life and work. He moved from being a banker to an avid traveller, tracing the footsteps of Guru Nanak. We must go beyond the life of building bank balances to find fulfilment in life, what Passion means to us, and any activity that resonates within oneself and acts as a catalyst for developing one's mind to achieve what your heart wishes. We pursue things close to us, do not mindlessly follow emotions, take activities, and yes, you are uncontrollable beyond reasoning. Overcome barriers, and when you pursue a passion, you will unfurl your life's purpose.Where do education and Passion intervene?PassionBeyond formal education, you must have a lifelong pursuit. Passion pushes you into a mode of self-learning without any expectations. Do not follow Passion; developing passions is essential; you must become the Passion. Amardeep picks up photography, musicology, and languages, and he is sure that you reach a pinnacle and stop; moving on and layering passions is the key to always staying in every learning mode; this is the true purpose of education: being a lifelong learner. Energy shuts down doors, and behold, grace will come to you, and you will work for your holistic development. A Ven Diagram of Education and Passion will create a new ‘You' at the intersection.Looking back at his life at school He may be an average student; his report cards may even show below-average grades. Excellence will come only when you turn your entire attention to it. Worldly aspects keep going, picking up the layers and growing up to a humble and successful life. "We saw this as an opportunity where we could use our experience and marry the engineering talent of Calgary with the fast frugal software ecosystem of Bangalore and build a global company." In this episode, I'm in conversation with Amardeep Sibia is the founder & CEO of Drishya AI Labs. Drishya started in 2019 to develop a foundational solution to a specific energy transition problem. There is a huge installed base of oil and gas infrastructure that predates the digital era and the data about those assets is held largely in near-paper format (JPGs and PDFs of engineering diagrams). Drishya has developed a clever AI-assisted cloud solution that converts those diagrams into actionable data. "Net Zero plans, decarbonisation, whatever you want to call it, is demanding an extremely fast and extremely vast level of mechanization across the industry. So in order to make changes you need to know what's out there. That's the basic problem." Amardeep Sibia is the founder & CEO of Drishya AI Labs, an award-winning Deep Tech company in the business of AI for Digital Oil & Gas based in Calgary, Canada with a subsidiary in Bangalore. Drishya enables companies to meet their decarbonization goals by using AI to build digital twins of brownfield industrial plants. Drishya also embeds intelligence and makes new-age equipment intelligent from the ground up, enabling faster and scalable adoption of equipment essential for meeting net-zero targets. Previously, Amardeep was CEO SatSure, CTO at Earth2Orbit and a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he served for 17 years across US, UK and India. He led SatSure to become the leading large area analytics startup for agriculture. SatSure leverages advancements in satellites, machine learning and big data analytics to generate business-critical insights across the agriculture value chain. Amardeep is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) and holds a Bachelor of Technology with Honours from Thapar University, Patiala. He is also a Mentor for TechStars Bangalore, a member of CII's National Committee for IT and a guest faculty at IIM, Bangalore where he teaches analytics. "One single customer, a super major said because we don't have the structural data, this high quality structural data, we are leaving about 100 to $150 billion on the table over a five year period, because we can't really optimize and the inefficiencies." Amardeep Dugar talks with host Henrik Clausen, about the poetry of lighting. As he explains it, language is compositional just as lighting is. And so Amardeep has been examining the connection between poetry and lighting. He is also looking at architecture itself as a light source. He believes this may be achieved with bioluminescence. Could that mean the end of light fixtures? Amardeep also instructs yoga and has taken up the guitar. A trained architect and an advocate for all the elements of lighting – design, education and research – Dr. Amardeep M. Dugar is the founding principal of Lighting Research & Design. Aside from working on high profile projects and teaching at several architecture schools, he has been instrumental in conducting lighting workshops educating students and professionals about the importance of lighting. He is also the co-founder of an online platform for lighting called the Virtual Lighting Design Community. He has been elected to the IES Board of Directors and is part of several committees within the IES.

Aarjan by himself this week joined by none other than returning champion Amardeep Singh Dhillon to touch base on the motherland of all content, India. A year on from the Kisan Andolan, or Farmer Protests, that were the subject of our previous collaboration, we take a look at its historic victories, as well as the present political landscape in India. After a year in which Modi's stranglehold on Indian politics seemed to have begun to buckle, it seems back on track once again with a resounding BJP victory in the recent Uttar Pradesh state elections. The recent attacks in Jahangirpuri and the hijab ban in Karnata have also shown the extent to which, 8 years into Modi's rule, Muslims have effectively become second class citizens in India. With the backdrop of Boris Johnson's visit at the end of April, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the governments of the UK and India are on some very similar trajectories. /// SHOW NOTES /// /// CREDITS /// Host: Aarjan Guest: Amardeep S. What to do when our first notions of romantic love have been distorted from the get go? Farheen, Mohini and new friend Amardeep dig into their complex relationship to romantic love. Traversing their parents' marriages, Bollywood songs, love addiction and fantasy addiction, they individually and collectively come upon self-love as the truest, deepest love. Self-love is not a cliché - it's a response to heal from intergenerational histories of misogyny, dislocation from community, childhood trauma, sexual violence, abandonment and more. We heal in the present, for the future and into the past for our loved ones. We commit to examining, meditating on, unlearning and re-learning about love in action - love that is not predicated on hyper-individualism or capitalism. Quote from bell hooks' book All About Love, page 188: “Richard Bach's autobiographical love story Illusions describes both his flight from love and his return. To return to love he had to be willing to sacrifice and surrender, to let go of the fantasy of being someone with no sustained emotional needs to acknowledge his need to love and be loved. We sacrifice our old selves in order to be changed by love and we surrender to the power of the new self.” Readings recited in the episode from: bell hooks - All About Love Pauline Harmange - I Hate Men To get in touch with us, email notyouraverageaunties@gmail.com.

She describes her personal journey with writing Sikh inspired poetry, teaching Sikhi at the University of Toronto, and what she hopes to give back to her readers. ~~~ Morning, Evening By: Amardeep Kaur This breath, my sip of hot cha in the morning, as I gaze out of the window. Removed from my mothership, yet still held, I feel connected. This moment with self, but not. A moment of longing. Love, lost, reflect. I resist, with friends brightening the light of new openings. Budding encounters full of stories. I seek the small steps through colourful flowers and paths. I am both here and there. My amritvela. How is that possible? Each breath, a new step, I take So Dar with me. It's in my pocket, with a bundle of cards inked with my favourite Japanese pen. It's in my hand. I didn't think I could even read. But then I reach the last card, I thirst for more. I could keep walking through the forest. Even as the sun fades in the distance, I can see, the path is lit. I want to keep walking. #Sikh #Sikhi #Poetry #Poem #SikhPodcast --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-sikh-cast-sikhri/support

Recorded live in Melbourne, VIC 3134 and Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday 13 May 2020 (after hours). Friends, I've never missed a Monday ever since I started The Glocals podcast, but I did this week. I guess hitting the 6th month of doing this show while a lot goes on really got the best of me. But I've forgiven myself! It's not about hitting all those dates, but rather truly have those soulful convos. And on this week's episode, I am once again reminded of how much this show means to me. My guest/Glocal fellow this week, Amardeep, found me on Linkedin and connected to me earlier this week. I immediately shared about The Glocals and lucky for me, he was super keen to join the show. I really thought I was gonna miss a week, but hey, better late than never! As surprised as Amardeep was about how organic this podcast episode was, I was super happy and inspired by our chat. It was great getting to know more about him as a human, and I absolutely get why he's chosen the career of a coach! All I am gonna say about this convo is that it is a truly soulful one. Please give it a listen if you would like to know how your fellow humans/Glocals have learned to find balance and learn more about themselves. When asked about how he felt about this convo, Amardeep said “I loved the genuine and authenticness of having a free flowing conversation and how you have the ability to make your guests feel safe and welcome!”. This makes me so so happy and that's why I love working on this podcast so so much! Amardeep sent you all a message that if you want to improve your mindset, performance and wellness, then please feel free to reach out to him at amardeep@buildyournow.com or to follow him on Linkedin at https://www.linkedin.com/in/amardeepgill/. We hope you learn how to observe yourself and find your balance!
