Frugality Tip My frugal tip is not a money tip, it's a time tip Watering trees: Hubby and I spent way too much time watering new trees around our property. We found some cheap five gallon buckets, drilled four holes in the bottom using his smallest drill bit. Now to water a tree, we put the bucket beside the tree on the up side if it's on a hill and fill the bucket up and walk away. Let the bucket do the work. The water slowly drains out of the bucket into the ground to the roots where you want the water, not running off because the hose delivers the water too fast. This has cut down the amount that I buy to one large bottle or two medium bottles per year. I take an old wine or other see through bottle and wash it out thoroughly. I fill it 2/3 of the way with water and add 1/3 dishwashing liquid. I top the bottle with a spout so that I can easily pour it onto a sponge or into my hands for washing up. The kind of spout I use is like those you would see on oil and vinegar or liquor bottles and can be picked up in most big chain stores or liquor stores for a couple couple of bucks. When refilling the bottle add the water first! This should be done in a very slow stream to prevent a lot of bubbling. If you do get some bubbles they will go away once the mixture settles. This has made my life so much easier and the bottle with the spout is much more attractive than an ugly bottle of dawn on my kitchen countertop. I'm including a photo of my freshly filled bottle below. Anna Shopping Report Weekly Shopping Report for Powell, TN 08/13/2022 (JOE) We've resumed doing our shopping on Saturday, partly in case another trip is needed. So far, I think I've had to make a second trip only when something happens like a cat needs to go to the vet or the USPS slackers have failed to make a delivery. Today's first stop was Dollar General Market, mostly for cat food and some craft items. We walked around a little more than usual, and found the store pretty well-stocked. I think I saw limited quantities of some things, but no glaring holes. Second was Dollar [-twenty five] Tree, mostly to look, but I got a drink there. They have decent quantities of second-tier but still well-known brands. Third was Hobby Lobby, mostly for sewing stuff. The store was full of merchandise, and we had essentially no wait to check out as multiple lines were open. Fourth was Home Depot. A 2x4x8 had dropped further, to $4.75. We did not find the bucket of patching goo we wanted; maybe they've stopped carrying it? Batteries, tools of all kinds, and lumber were all plentiful. Last was Aldi. Stock levels were all good. I'm not sure that anything changed significantly, but our particular combination of items did produce a higher bill than we've had lately. The last time I filled up, untainted regular had dropped to $4.899/gallon. #013 - One of the things that I've found in the early stages of my homesteading journey is that this life is one of problems and solutions and, at least so far, often more time is spent on planning and thinking than actually doing. As our first spring on our new property is fully underway, we're realizing that there is a delicate balance between proper planning and just getting started. My guest today is a man of action and his passion for permaculture and preparedness has been leading many toward living a more independent and resilient life. His name is Billy Bond and through his YouTube channel “PermaPastures Farm” he is relating his infectious energy and convictions to many of us who are forging our own way towards building systems of abundance and health for our families. We get to know a bit about what drove him to become so passionate about permaculture and preparedness, as well as what drove his family to invest deeply in learning from some of the greats in the permaculture and regenerative agriculture space. Billy takes a stab at defining what permaculture is, and while he swears that definition is elusive, I think he did a really good job of breaking it down for the average person. César Oitana presentó al gran cuarteto del rock argentino: Serú Girán. Banda que se formo luego de la separación de La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros, banda organizada por Charly García en su etapa posterior a Sui Géneris. Junto con David Lebón, Charly viajó en 1978 a Búzios, con la idea de componer material para un nuevo disco. Por no tener dinero suficiente para pagar los impuestos de importación a Brasil, todos los equipos que llevaban quedaron en la aduana. A los dos meses, Charly regresó a Buenos Aires para arreglar contrato con Oscar López y Billy Bond. Una noche, en un bar donde se presentaba Pastoral, Charly quedó fascinado con la habilidad de Aznar en el bajo. Esperó a que terminara la actuación y fue a buscarlo a los camarines. No fue necesaria mucha charla para que Pedro aceptara viajar a Brasil e incorporarse al grupo en gestación. «…Cuando lo vi a Pedro pelar el bajo, se me cayó la mandíbula hasta la rodilla. Pensé: este pibe es muy bueno, es casi mejor que yo», recuerda en tono de broma David Lebón (Clarín, 3 de mayo de 1992). Luego se les uniría Oscar Moro, quien había sido baterista de La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros y, antes, del legendario grupo Los Gatos. Con el dinero que había recibido como anticipo del contrato, García costeó los pasajes a San Pablo de ellos y el de Oscar Moro. Allá se reunirían con David Lebón. Billy Bond and the Jets estaba formada por Billy Bond, Charly García, David Lebón, Pedro Aznar y Oscar Moro. Editaron un solo disco en donde se encuentran temas como «Discoshock» (letra y música de Charly García), «32 macetas» (letra y música de David Lebón), y «Loco, no te sobra una moneda» (letra y música de Charly García). Finalmente Billy Bond desarmó el proyecto y quedó conformado Serú Giran. DISCO ES CULTURA.

Fue una de las más importantes de nuestra historia de la Independencia y se libró el 3 de febrero de 1813 en suelo argentino, de la mano de José de San Martín. Se llevó a cabo junto al convento de San Carlos Borromeo, situado en la localidad de San Lorenzo, actual provincia de Santa Fe. Constituyó, además, el bautismo de fuego del recientemente creado Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo. Las fuerzas independentistas rioplatenses, dirigidas por el entonces coronel José de San Martín sorprendieron y vencieron a las españolas de la Milicia urbana, quienes vía fluvial aprovisionaban la ciudad de Montevideo, actual capital uruguaya. Durante el enfrentamiento armado, una bala hirió al caballo de San Martín, que rodó y apretó una de las piernas del coronel, inmovilizándolo. Un enemigo del ejército realista iba a matarlo pero el sargento correntino Juan Bautista Cabral lo ayudó a liberarse de la opresión del lomo del caballo sobre su pierna, salvándole la vida a él pero entregando la suya. Recordamos esta fecha a partir de testimonios conservados en el Archivo Histórico de Radio Nacional En esta oportunidad, la palabra del entonces presidente José María Guido en el 150 aniversario de la Batalla de San Lorenzo, celebrado en 1963. Ocasión, además, para convocar a elecciones presidenciales tras el golpe de estado que derrocó a Arturo Frondizi en 1962. Dos cañones, 40 fusiles, 4 bayonetas, y una bandera que pongo en manos de V.E. y la arrancó con la vida al abanderado el valiente oficial Don Hipólito Bouchard. De nuestra parte se han perdido 26 hombres, 6 muertos, y los demás heridos, de este número son: el capitán D. Justo Bermúdez, y el teniente Manuel Díaz Vélez, que avanzándose con energía hasta el borde de la barranca cayó este recomendable oficial en manos del enemigo." Seguimos con el testimonio de Ciro Fogliatta quien recuerda su etapa musical en España con Andrés Calamaro y revivimos lo que fue la grabación de "La Balsa" en 1967. Sobre el final del programa, escuchamos a Billy Bond contando la verdad entre Sandro y la mítica Cueva de Pueyrredón 1723. En reflexión de la situación latinoamericana , proponemos escuchar la versión de la canción "El derecho de vivir en paz" de Víctor Jara, por un importante grupo de artistas de la escena actual chilena.

Para arrancar esta nueva edición de Mamá Rock, desde LRA 7 Radio Nacional Córdoba, Lucas Fernández, Germán Hidalgo y Lucio Carnicier nos traen "La marcha de San Lorenzo" por Billy Bond y la Pesada del Rock and Roll, grabada en 1972 "Científicos del Palo" en el día de su cumpleaños, nos habla del álbum: "La Histeria Argentina" y de la canción: "El Masón" dedicada al General José de San Martín. Ricardo Mollo que también esta cumpliendo años, recuerda a Gustavo Cerati contando una hermosa experiencia cuando iba a visitarlo a la clínica mientras estuvo internado. David Lebón cuenta cómo fue la participación de Ricardo Mollo en la nueva versión de "Mundo Agradable" incluida en su reciente álbum: "Lebón & Co" Hugo Bistolfi,quien fuera tecladista de Rata Blanca por más de 20 años, creador de Alianza y actualmente solista, recuerda a su amigo Fabio Zerpa, que falleció el pasado 7 de agosto a los 90 años. Hace más de 16 años que Lucas Fernández y Germán Hidalgo hacen este programa dedicado a brindar la mejor información del mundo del rock a través de entrevistas, informes y mucha música. Asimismo, La primera intervención de esta emisión de Mamá Rock fue del cantautor, músico, compositor y productor discográfico, Andrés Calamaro, quien contó como fue grabar su más reciente disco publicado en el 2018, “Cargar la suerte". En tanto, en exclusiva con el equipo de Radio Nacional el productor y director musical de La Pesada del Rock and Roll, Billy Bond, recordó cómo fue grabar con el grupo cordobés “Los Bichos”. “La Pesada del Rock and Roll no tiene ninguna chance de volver, creo que las vueltas son , armadas nada más para ganar dinero, no tengo nada contra la gente que lo hace, pero yo por suerte tengo la posibilidad de no hacerlo”, sostuvo Bond. Por su parte, el cantautor argentino, Jorge Fandermole, habló sobre el tema “Hispano”, recordó la composición de la compleja estructura que tiene el tema y mencionó que “fue compuesta para el Congreso de la Lengua que se hizo en Rosario” y agregó que “es una canción que salió linda y caminó bien”. Por último, Germán Hidalgo y Lucas Fernández conversó con el director de cine, Rodrigo Fernández Engler, acerca de la última película que dirigió, además de realizar una sinopsis de ese filme, “Soldado Argentino Sólo Conocido por Dios”. En tanto, la película cuenta la historia de tres jóvenes de un pequeño pueblo de Traslasierra, Córdoba, quienes desde lugares ideológicos muy distintos, se ven transformados para siempre por la guerra de Malvinas.
En esta última emisión del mes de Mamá Rock, Germán Hidalgo y Lucas Fernández conversaron con el integrante de "Los Bichos", y músico cordobés que en los 70 grabó y toco con Billy Bond y la Pesada del rock, Carlos Ávalos, acerca de la experiencia de haber grabado la famosa ópera, “Hair”. Por su parte, a pocos días del Día Mundial del Agua, que se celebra anualmente el 22 de marzo, el equipo de Radio Nacional reprodujo las canciones de No Te Va a Gustar y Alejandro Medina, que cantan a favor y remarcan la importancia del cuidado del agua. Por su parte, el equipo de Mamá Rock homenajeó en su cumpleaños al guitarrista, cantante y compositor de rock y blues británico, Eric Clapton, repasando la entrevista con Juan Antonio Ferreyra, quien comentó cómo surgió la idea de grabar la famosa adaptación y grabación de la canción de Clapton; "Maravillosa esta noche”. Por último, en diálogo con el equipo de Radio Nacional, el integrante del grupo de rock progresivo Altabanca, Natalio Faingold, recordó el origen y la creación de su tema "Lamento Boliviano", que terminó siendo popularizado por Los Enanitos Verdes.
Billy Bond da su versión sobre cómo fue aquella noche de 1972 en el Luna Park en la cual su banda, La Pesasda del Rock and Roll, abrió el show. La gente que se pasó de la popular a la platea despertó el nerviosismo de los organizadores, que llamaron a la policía. Cuando entraron, los oficiales comenzaron directamente a reprimir. Iván Noble anticipa que la canción homenaje seleccionada para Cuánto cuesta este capricho es de un músico británico, dirigida a un músico argentino. “El relato lo tenemos a través de nuestro coterráneo, que tocó en La Pesada del Rock and Roll de Billy Bond, pasó por La Joven Guardia y después, mientras transcurría la dictadura de Onganía, se fue a Londres a probar suerte”, comenta. Dice Víctor Bereciartúa, más conocido como Vitico: “Yo quería vivir en Battersea, donde están las torres y la central eléctrica que aparece en la tapa de Animals de Pink Floyd. Y lo hice. Allí, mi roommate o compañero de habitación era Dick Fontaine, un cineasta a quien Pete Townshend de The Who le hacía la música de algunas de sus películas”. Vitico decide conocer personalmente a Pete, en uno de los momentos de mayor éxito de su banda. Cuenta la leyenda que el bajista y compositor –actual líder de Viticus– se dirigió a Butterfly Studio, donde los británicos grababan Quadrophenia, y que John Entwistle le dejó el bajo para zapar con ellos. Después de esa hora inolvidable fueron a comer con Pete y Keith Emerson. Ese fue el comienzo de una relación que no terminó ahí porque, tiempo después, cuando The Who editó ese sexto álbum (1973), el músico argentino se fijó si en el disco le habían dedicado un saludo. Pero como la cosa entre los dos no había terminado bien, no sabemos por qué, Vitico declaró que The Punk and the Godfather fue escrito por Pete Townshend para él, que tuvo que buscar la palabra punk en el diccionario, y no existía. Luego de escuchar el tema en cuestión, sumamos Que sea rock de Riff, banda de la cual Vitico formará parte tras su paso por Londres.
