You'll also get access to HeHe's free class on how to avoid a c-section, because spoiler alert: how you feed your baby matters, but how you're supported while doing it matters even more. IVF chains in India aren't deterred by paltry things like probabilities. They've made IVF the new C-section—essentially, a revenue-generating procedure pushed before natural alternatives are even considered. All at 4X the cost of a C-section, or around Rs 2 lakh for a single cycle. The result is a $1.4 billion IVF market in India—10 times the market for cataract surgery, the most common procedure worldwide.Unsurprisingly, venture-capital and private-equity firms have swooped in for the kill. That this growth is coming at the cost of quality care is the real problem. Tune in.Daybreak is produced from the newsroom of The Ken, India's first subscriber-only business news platform. In this episode, I share the remarkable birth journey of Kelsey, a mother of three from Wisconsin, USA, who moved from fear and medical trauma to deep empowerment with a healing home birth after two caesareans (HBA2C).Baby #1 saw Kelsey induced at 37 weeks for suspected pre-eclampsia. Her regular doctor was away, and with a male provider stepping in, she felt overwhelmed and anxious. Not realising she had the right to say no, she was swept into a domino effect of interventions that led to her first C-section. At her six-week check-up, she was told her pelvis was “too small” and that vaginal birth would never be an option.Baby #2 was a different experience—Kelsey worked with midwives in a hospital who respected her choices and supported her VBAC plan. She declined most testing and felt truly seen. After four days of prodromal labour and 35 hours in total (with four of those hours pushing), she was emotionally and physically spent and opted for a second caesarean. Despite the outcome, the birth was peaceful and affirming. She watched her son being born, held him immediately in the operating room, and was encouraged by her doctor to try for a VBAC again in the future.Baby #3 was a surprise, and initially, Kelsey assumed she'd opt for another caesarean. But the years between babies were filled with education and empowerment. She met inspiring women, learned more about birth physiology, and found support from a community who believed in her. She hired a trusted doula and connected with a midwife willing to support her HBA2C at home.Throughout her pregnancy, Kelsey focused on calming her nervous system and nurturing her body with consistent body work—chiropractic care, regular massages, and acupuncture. She immersed herself in birth education, including Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols and Dr Berg's YouTube channel for wellness tips. When labour began at 39 weeks and 4 days, she laboured instinctively at home. Within 4.5 hours, Kelsey gave birth on her bedroom floor, with her eldest son watching his sister's head crown. Her daughter was born into peace—wide-eyed and calm. The moment was surreal. She had done it. Kelsey had birthed on her own terms.Being at home was the game-changer. She finally experienced birth in the way her body was designed for—supported, and sacred.Enjoy this podcast episode! C-section recovery specialist and founder of The Scar Connection, Sarah Stead, joins us for a raw, validating, and truth-filled conversation that every mother deserves to hear whether your birth was surgical or not. With over a decade of experience supporting women after cesarean birth, Sarah is on a mission to rewrite the narrative around healing, recovery, and VBAC choices. From scar tissue and stored trauma to postpartum grief, physical pain, and the myth of the 6-week “all-clear” this episode is full of truths that rarely get shared. We talk about what's really missing from postpartum care, how the medical system downplays a major abdominal surgery, and why support after birth is non-negotiable. Sarah also breaks down the difference between common and normal, and what your body—and heart—might still be holding onto years later. This episode is a warm hug, a wake-up call, and a reclamation all in one. Whether you're a C-section mama, planning a VBAC, or simply looking for more truth and support—this one's for you. Key Highlights: • Why the “6-week checkup” is not the finish line—it's just the beginning • The difference between physical healing and true recovery • How scar tissue can impact digestion, posture, emotions, and more • Why breastfeeding after a surgical birth can be harder • How trauma can be physically stored in the scar • What a VBAC really is—and why most women are never told the truth • Why some OBs still push “once a C-section, always a C-section” • What true VBAC support should actually look like • Why your pelvis probably isn't “too small” • The hidden risks of elective C-sections that aren't often disclosed • Why it's never too late to heal—yes, even 25 years later About the Reclaiming Birth Conference This powerful in-person gathering brings together voices from around the world who are reclaiming birth, autonomy, and truth. Designed for parents, birth workers, and changemakers, the conference is about honoring physiology, challenging the status quo, and reclaiming your birthright.

What's best for skin closure at C-Section? Staples or suture? This debate has raged for over 20 years. Past data has shown greater odds of wound complications with metal staples compared to suture. But new a meta-analysis from June 2025 is challenging the prior results. In this episode, we will explore the data from 2010 to present day. PLUS, we will summarize a separate meta-analysis examining if wound dressing removal is tied to any wound complication. This was just published July 15, 2025 in the “Pink” journal. Sexuopharmaceuticals. Yes, we had to sound it out too. But behind the tongue-twister is a study that confirms what many couples already know: vaginal dryness + erectile dysfunction = not exactly a recipe for romance. But is that pill really the answer? We unpack the not-so-sexy science that says that sexuopharmaceuticals like Viagra are putting some men out of sync with their female partners. And, C-sections are on the rise—and Amelia, Jessie and Mia have thoughts. Is it a medical trend, a feminist power move, or just the new default setting for birth? Plus, gossip alert: Jennifer Aniston’s rumoured new boyfriend has people talking, Bec Judd’s spilling the tea on her cosmetic tweaks, and Mia throws a surprise question at Jessie and Amelia that stops them in their tracks. And finally, are we witnessing the slow death of university? Parents are being told to stop pushing uni on their kids but what does that mean for jobs, knowledge, expertise? We discuss. Krystle is hosting solo this week with Jen Wagner, board-certified obstetric anesthesiologist, and Bethany Scott, birth doula, and co-hosts of The C-Section Experience Podcast! Jen and Bethany provide education and support for c-section mamas with the goal of improving c-section experiences for all women. With Jen having had 1 c-section and 1 VBAC and Bethany having had 3 c-sections like Krystle, this episode is full of tips and stories to help you feel empowered and in charge of your c-section experience!Going into birth knowing you will have a planned c-section can still come with feelings of anxiety. Jen and Bethany describe methods like the “3-3-3” and others that you and your partner can do while waiting for your procedure to help reduce those pre-surgery jitters. And if your vaginal birth ends in a c-section for reasons Jen describes, utilize the same coping skills you used successfully during your labor. Not knowing how labor may go, Jen and Bethany explain why they like expecting mamas to create a “contingency plan”... like your birth plan for your vaginal delivery, what types of things would you like for a c-section? Immediate skin-to-skin? Breastfeeding in the operating room? YOU have the power of choice with these types of things! We completely acknowledge that having a c-section, whether planned or unplanned, may cause a lot of grief - which is a normal feeling! If you plan on having more children, consider the types of things you would like to do differently with your next delivery and include it in your contingency plan. Talking through your birth with your safe people can really help process the events of your birth too. Recovering physically from a c-section can also be HARD! Jen, Bethany, and Krystle put their experiences and professional preparedness to work to bring you tips for staying on top of your pain, do's and don'ts of abdominal binders, how to utilize a helper once you discharge home from the hospital, plus so many great breastfeeding tips!!If you enjoyed listening to this episode, we would love it if you could share it to your Instagram stories and tag us, @thecsxpodcast and @expectingandempowered. In this episode of the MamasteFit Podcast Birth Stories, Feige shares her 2 birth stories, detailing her transition from an unplanned C-section in her first birth to preparing for a VBAC in her second pregnancy. Despite meticulous preparation involving choosing a different provider, exercising, and maintaining a healthy diet, she faced an emergency C-section the day before her due date due to decreased fetal movement. Prompted by her husband and recalling advice from the podcast, she went to the hospital, a decision that ultimately saved her baby's life. Haley came to me after experiencing a traumatic c-section with her first baby, nearly ten years ago — a birth where, in her own words, being the "good patient" caused her to stay quiet, go along with the system, and ultimately watch her dreams for birth slip away. But this time? She chose a different path. Through my program, Haley prepared for an HBAC — a homebirth after cesarean — and not only did she have a beautiful, redemptive homebirth, but she did it with the full understanding and wisdom of both sides of the coin — as a nurse and as a mama standing in her authority. We also dive into the complicated emotions that can come up when you work inside the medical system, but choose something different for yourself. Her story starts with her waters breaking early — what the hospital often labels as "premature rupture of membranes" — and how that moment could've easily led her down the same old cascade of interventions… but because she was prepared and supported, she stayed home, stayed confident, and brought her baby into the world in the way God designed. It's such a powerful conversation, especially if you're navigating fears after a c-section or feeling tension between your job in healthcare and your personal birth choices. The Book of Revelation is known as Apocalyptic literature and has fascinated scholars for centuries, each giving his or her own interpretation. It wasn't until the Restoration, though, that we received the keys to understand its message. With the help of Joseph Smith's questions and the Lord's answers, we learn that the Book of Revelation discloses vital information about the last days. It is filled with God's direction for Jesus' Second Coming and the end of the earth. The keys to understand it were given in the day it was needed. It is a book for our day. Join Dr. Lynn Hilton Wilson as she unfolds the keys of the Book of Revelation that help decipher its teachings and prophetic direction.

Hello & Welcome to this episode - all about scar therapy after c-sections!My guest today is Hannah Poulton, women's health physio who is embarking on the fun and easy road to a PhD, all about postnatal scars. It should be noted that C-sections, the most common surgery worldwide, often require additional care due to the responsibility of caring for a newborn, after major abdominal surgery! In our conversation, we discussed the available evidence to support scar therapy after a C sectionOur conversation also covered various aspects of scar management, including manual therapy, movement, nutrition, sleep, and hydration, emphasising that scar treatment is part of a broader recovery process (lots of clinical pearls here!)We explored how scar tissue can affect pelvic health and bladder function, with Hannah noting that even old scars can benefit from treatment. Hannah is developing a questionnaire to standardise scar mobilisation techniques and shared that while research evidence is limited, there is documentation supporting the use of mobilisation and desensitisation for scar tissue.Hannah emphasises the importance of scar therapy in holistic treatment protocols, discussing various aspects of scar management and its impact on physical and emotional well-beingHannah discussed her upcoming Scar Symposium on November 15th at the Birmingham NEC, which will include research collaboration and teamwork focused on benefits for patients. In this episode of Parenting is a Joke, comedian and brand-new mom Vicky Kuperman joins Ophira Eisenberg just five weeks after giving birth—and no, she didn't know she wanted kids until recently either. Vicky opens up about pivoting from a life focused solely on comedy to embracing IVF, sharing how her fourth and final covered cycle resulted in her daughter. She reveals she once had a miscarriage during a screening of the Barbie movie (yes, she jokes about it), and reflects on the double standards women face in comedy when tackling darker material. The two comedians swap birth stories—Ophira's dramatic labor room moment vs. Vicky's swift C-section where the team was chatting about Sex and the City as her daughter arrived. They also dissect the politics of pregnancy shame, how little anyone warns you about post-op edema, and why a Chanel gift bag might be the Upper East Side's version of a baby bonus. You get to hear what's inside that legendary Chanel postpartum bag! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

What if the way we talk about birth is shaping the way we experience it—before it even begins? Joining me to unpack this is journalist, professor, and author of Invisible Labor: The Untold Story of the Cesarean Section, Rachel Somerstein. Together we explore: The hidden biases and ingrained language that shape how we view birth—why terms like "failure to progress" reinforce harmful narratives. Why flexibility is a powerful tool in birth and parenting—and why we so often slip into rigidity when we feel anxious or out of control. The societal pressure to “do birth right” and how it impacts a birthing person's experience. The troubling reality of whose life we prioritize in birth and what that says about our values in America. Why do some births lead to trauma while others don't? What the research reveals about the difference. The importance of preparing for a c-section—even if it's not part of your birth plan—so that you feel safe and supported if it happens. Simple but impactful shifts that could make c-sections a more positive experience. With 1 in 3 births resulting in a c-section, this is a conversation every birthing person deserves to hear. Tune in for a thought-provoking deep dive into the realities of modern birth and what we can do to reclaim agency in the process. LEARN MORE ABOUT MY GUEST:
