The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is the unofficial signal that Spring has arrived (the 2025 edition runs from March 5 to June 2) at Walt Disney World. Not only that, the Flower and Garden Festival is a dream for fashion lovers who want to blend style with the beauty of nature. With stunning floral displays, outdoor kitchens and vibrant character topiaries, this festival is the perfect backdrop for stylish outfits that embrace springtime aesthetics. Top 10 Ideas for How to Style an Outfit for the EPCOT Flower and Garden FestivalWhether you're a Disneybounder, a casual park visitor, or a fashion-forward festival fan, here are 10 reasons why the Flower and Garden Festival is the ultimate EPCOT festival for fashion—with some outfit ideas to match!1. Blooming Florals EverywhereWith EPCOT overflowing in breathtaking flowers everywhere you look, this is the perfect time to embrace floral prints, embroidered details and pastel hues.Style Tip: Opt for a breezy floral sundress or a linen button-up with floral embroidery. Pair with comfortable sneakers or sandals to stay stylish and comfy all day.2. Instagram-Worthy Photo SpotsFrom colorful butterfly gardens to vibrant Disney topiaries, every corner of the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is a fashion photo-op just waiting to happen.Style Tip: A flowy maxi skirt with a fitted tank top and a subtle Disney or garden-themed denim jacket makes for a stylish yet effortless look that really pops in photos.3. Warm Spring Weather Calls for Effortless LayersFlorida spring can be warm during the day and breezy at night, making lighter clothing layers a festival essential.Style Tip: A lightweight jacket, cardigan or kimono over a graphic tee (subtly Disney-inspired, of course) will keep you comfortable from morning to evening.4. Garden-Inspired Accessories ShineDon't forget to accessorize. Flower crowns, leaf-shaped earrings and nature-inspired accessories will all blend perfectly with the festival's theme.Style Tip: Try a floral headband or Disney festival ears, or even a straw hat paired with a relaxed Disney tee and shorts for a chic, nature-inspired vibe.5. Butterfly Gardens Make Wings TrendyThe Flower and Garden Festival's Butterfly Garden is a magical place that makes butterfly-inspired fashion feel right at home.Style Tip: A pastel-colored flowy blouse paired with butterfly-shaped earrings or embroidered denim adds a subtle nod to this whimsical theme.6. Flower and Garden Festival Merch Inspires Outfit CoordinationEach year, the festival releases limited-edition apparel featuring characters like the Florida Orange Bird and Figment—perfect for styling a full festival fit. So if you want to wait until you're onsite to complete your outfit, this is the way to go.Style Tip: Pair an Orange Bird festival tee with a breezy skater skirt and white sneakers for a playful yet stylish look.7. It's the Best Festival for Pastel LoversSoft, dreamy colors dominate the festival, making it the ideal time to wear pastel shades that complement the scenery.Style Tip: Lavender, mint, baby pink and sky blue look stunning in photos. A pastel Disney crewneck t-shirt with biker shorts and chunky sneakers is the perfect comfy-chic combo that will look great in photos and videos.8. Flower & Garden Inspires Cottagecore VibesFrom honey-themed food booths to whimsical gardens, this festival is a dream for cottagecore fashion lovers.Style Tip: A gingham dress, lace-trimmed socks and a cozy cardigan with subtle Disney embroidery create the ultimate cottagecore Disney look.9. Festival Outfits Can Be Playful & FunUnlike other EPCOT festivals that lean into rich or dark tones, the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival is all about playfulness and lighthearted themes.Style Tip: Embrace fun prints, detailed graphics and quirky Disney accessories—like a daisy-shaped bag or floral Mickey ears. 10. The Best Disney Fest for HatsWith the Florida sun shining bright, the Flower and Garden Festival is the ideal event to show off stylish headwear—whether it's a wide-brimmed sunhat, a bucket hat, or a cute pair of floral Minnie ears. Hats not only add personality to your outfit, but also provide essential sun protection while you explore.Style Tip: Opt for a neutral or pastel-toned hat that complements your outfit rather than overpowers it. Pair it with a breezy button-down shirt or a lightweight Disney-inspired tee for a relaxed, chic vibe. The 1923 Main Street Flower and Garden CollectionLooking for more inspiration? Disney's latest update to Genie+ isn't really big news, but it is a welcome enhancement that may signal more things to come. The good and the bad of this update for the Disney traveler, plus Rogers: The Musical top tips and more Disney travel news. Update to Disney Genie+ Service at Walt Disney WorldIn a first baby step towards making Disney Genie+ a little more flexible, you will now have the option to purchase Genie+ for a single-park option or a new multiple-parks option. With this addition prices may be lower at some parks compared to others. Nothing else has changed. What we're all really waiting for is the ability to be able to make Genie+ reservations before the day of your visit. So while this is a welcome change, it is nothing more than a baby step with the hopes of truly bigger news still to come.--How to Increase Your Odds of Seeing ‘Rogers: The Musical' at Disney California Adventure ParkRogers: The Musical kicks off this week at Disney California Adventure Park and runs until August 31. With that in mind, here is the most important news you need to know as a Disney traveler.Joining the free virtual queue on the Disneyland app is recommendedRogers: The Musical will have several shows daily, Tuesday through Saturday most weeks during its limited-time run. You can gain access to the viewing areas for the show through a virtual queue system available only through the Disneyland app. Each performance day, distribution for the complimentary virtual queue will start at 10:30 a.m. PT for the first two shows of the day and it will reopen at 2:00 p.m. PT for the remaining shows each day.The virtual queue isn't mandatory, but it's highly recommended. If the virtual queue is full, you can check in at the Hyperion Theater before Rogers: The Musical begins to check for any walk-up viewing options.Dining Package for Rogers: The MusicalInstead of going the virtual queue route, you can try to buy a “Rogers: The Musical” Premium Viewing Experience package for $29 per person from the Studio Catering Co. Truck in Hollywood Land. We say try because quantities are limited per performance. The package includes a “Rogers: The Musical” popcorn bucket with kettle corn and choice of bottled beverage, plus access to lounge seating before the show, priority choice of seating in the theater, a souvenir lanyard and access to a unique photo opportunity. --Updates on San Fransokyo Square at Disney California Adventure ParkStarting in mid-July, you'll be able to try some new San Fransokyo food at Lucky Fortune Cookery and the Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería. More dining options and new shopping will open through mid-August.Here's more about what you'll be able to see and do in San Fransokyo Square.·       Interact with Hiro and Baymax, who will say hello outside the Hamada Bot Shop. ·       Near the Hamada Bot Shop will be the San Fransokyo Maker's Market, a store stocked with apparel, homewares and more featuring Baymax and friends. Be sure to look up to the rafters overhead to find the local battlebot champion, Hiro's Megabot.·       Across the way, a vending machine will dispense collectible golden medallions featuring Baymax and other images from San Fransokyo.A look at some of the new San Fransokyo dining options:Aunt Cass Café, the second bakery café operated by Hiro's loving aunt, will serve soups in freshly-baked Boudin sourdough bread bowls and other Japanese-inspired cuisine. Watch for the mural of Aunt Cass' lucky pet cat, Mochi on the storefront. An old fishing net tannery across from the café is being converted to Rita's Turbine Blenders, a giant drink dispenser offering margaritas and cold drinks. The refreshment stand is owned and named after the repair tech who maintains the floating wind turbine (a giant koi fish) that sits atop the structure. In addition to these locations, there will be new menu items at Cocina Cucamonga and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop as well. --Foodie Guide to Flavors of Florida at Disney SpringsFlavors of Florida take place in Disney Springs from July WDW Radio # 714 - The Orange Bird - From the WDW Radio Archives I visited the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival this week, and love seeing old friends... not just wandering and grazing the promenade with me, but old friends from Walt Disney World's past... and present. In recent years, we have seen a resurgence in nostalgia, sentiment, and love for our little purple friend with childlike innocence, Figment, as well as our favorite combination of fruit and fowl, the Little Orange Bird. And in the past 50 years, we've seen some pretty interesting things at Walt Disney World: A waterskiing Goofy, gunfighters shooting it out in Frontierland, singing fruit, a rapping Mickey and much more. But until 2011, many people didn't know who the Orange Bird was, let alone remember seeing a character walking around in Adventureland with a giant orange head, leaves for arms and a green stem sticking out of his head. It started with a slow release of retro merchandise in Magic Kingdom, and in 2012, the Orange Bird returned to Sunshine Tree Terrace signage and quirky drink cups, and a new line of Orange Bird merchandise started to appear on the shelves! Also, an Orange Bird statue that was on display at Sunshine Tree Terrace in the 1970s was retrieved from the Walt Disney Imagineering Sculpture Studio in California, and is now on display in full, orange glory. This rekindled a sense of fond remembrance for our little orange friend, and now, he is not only present in our memories, hearts, and Adventureland, but is a huge fixture at this year's Festival in Epcot. He has inspired not just a huge line of merchandise, but even some food items as well. So I went back into the WDW Radio Archives this week to 2011 and Show #250, where Jim Korkis and I took a look back in time at the Sunshine Tree Terrace and it's one-time host (and hostess). We explore the origins of the Orange Bird, the Sherman Brothers song, why he and Anita Bryant may have flown the coop, and the (then) recent resurgence of our little orange friend. I'll then pose a question for you to share your thoughts on as well. Do you remember seeing the little Orange Bird in Adventureland in the 70's? Did you ever get a photo with the walk around character? More dates have been added to the calendar at the $104 ticket level, bringing it up to nearly two months of days at the lowest ticket price. Also announced were more opportunities to join the Magic Key program throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available. For all the details, check out the link in our show notes. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/disneyland-resort-announces-new-updates-to-offer-guests-more-value-and-flexibility/ The closest location to get food in the esplanade abruptly closed this week. La Brea Bakery announced the closure of the Downtown Disney and all other non-airport locations to focus on their partnerships with distributing their baked goods. The location will make room for a temporary tenant before being demoed and becoming the location for the Porto's that was announced back at the D23 Expo in September. - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/01/09/la-brea-bakery-abruptly-closes-at-downtown-disney-after-two-decades/ Fans of great tasting, inexpensive food can now rejoice! Earl of Sandwich, the sandwich shop that was torn down with the rest of the AMC theater complex has announced its return. In the near term, it will be moving into the La Brea Bakery location, adding a sit-down option until a new location is built elsewhere in Downtown Disney, likely on the west side where construction is happening now. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/downtown-disney-district-welcomes-back-earl-of-sandwich-this-february-more-district-updates/ Weeklyteers who like dining in the once highly themed Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen will be sad with the changes coming when it re-opens. Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio will be the new name of the location. Guests who have experienced the new design have found it plain and mostly un-themed. The fully refurbished location should return after a "short time" according to Disney. Din Tai Fung, which was announced at the D23 Expo this year has some new concept art. In the concept art, there is a round bar surrounded by tables for diners to eat at. The new location will be on the west end of Downtown Disney, but no opening date or timeline has been announced. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/01/09/4-major-downtown-disney-restaurant-updates/#more-762543 When Magic Happens returns, there will be a dining package available to guests at the Plaza Inn. Each dining package will include an adult or child meal, plus a voucher for reserved viewing access to the second Magic Happens performance each day. The package is available every night, except for Disney After Dark events of April 9, May 13, 14, 29, June 18, July 4, and July 8, 2023. The adult meal is $45 per adult, with the child meal priced at $25 per person. Dining reservations need to be made between 1pm and 3:30pm to take advantage of the package. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/01/05/pricing-and-details-for-magic-happens-plaza-inn-dining-package-in-disneyland/ The Disney100 celebration doesn't kick off until January 27th, but you wouldn't know it from all the stuff already in the parks! New Disney100 plates, cups, and popcorn boxes have arrived at the resort. The popcorn bucket is shades of purple and white, with the Disney100 logo, with 100 Years of Wonder underneath. The coffee cups are a similar design, with the standard soda cups sporting red along with the purple, sharing the color scheme with Coca-Cola. The paper plates feature the purple design around the edges of the plate, with Disney100, 100 Years of Wonder in the white center where the food goes. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/01/new-disney100-plates-cups-and-popcorn-boxes-debut-at-disneyland/ From now through January 18, Magic Key Holders can pick up a Disney100 print featuring Mickey and Minnie galavanting around Sleeping Beauty Castle. The castle features the decorations for the Disney100 celebration, the fountain, and the swans in the moat. The print by Asia Ellington is distributed in the extended queue for it's a small world every day at 1pm while supplies last back in Fantasyland. If you see a long line, don't be deterred, it moves quickly. - https://www.micechat.com/343892-disneyland-update-mangled-magic-a-soggy-start/ More details have been announced for World of Color - ONE coming to Disney California Adventure later this month. The viewing areas will be accessible through the virtual queueing system in the Disneyland app. A virtual queue reservation is not required, but highly recommended. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/dazzling-details-of-world-of-color-one-at-disney-california-adventure-park-debuting-jan-27/ New Disney100 standard popcorn buckets have arrived as well. Halloween Horror Nights, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar — Some of Orlando's best theme park offerings are actually found outside the boundaries of Walt Disney World and instead are part of Universal Orlando Resort. On this week's show, we discuss some of our favorite attractions, restaurants, procedures, and other elements of Universal Studios that don't have an equivalent at a Disney park. Should Disney bring these ideas to its parks? If so, how could Disney take these ideas and make them better? These are just some of the questions we try to answer on this episode (56:38). In our continuing Countdown to the 50th, we highlight the Orange Bird, a beloved character who was part of Magic Kingdom on opening day, disappeared for a few decades, and then made a grand return, bringing endless opportunities for merchandise with him (01:04). Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your spot for anything and everything Disney! There’s lots of news this week, so better get into it! With restrictions easing up in California, talk of Disneyland reopening has ignited. Across the country, Disney Parks posted our first looks at the newly-renovated rooms at the Polynesian Resort, which pays great tribute to Moana without hitting you over the head with it. In keeping with the theme of the pandemic, Disney announces it will close 60 Disney stores across the US. Sunshine Tree Terrace revealed it’s beautiful new Orange Bird wall. Finally, Harmonious barges have invaded World Showcase Lagoon. (Seriously, they look like alien spaceships.) This week, we go through each section of the park, Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Tomorrowland, and retool what the park would look like after a massive update from Disney's newest Imagineers: us! (To be clear, we are not Imagineers. We just thought it'd be fun to play one for a day!) We take some MASSIVE liberties by picking up and completely moving rides, magically creating a lot more space, and treating money as absolutely no object. And, heck, why not just make new lands altogether? Why not create a Frozen-themed restaurant? And for goodness sake, Disney, give the people what they want: more pie! (Or is that just me?) Let us know what you think on our Facebook page. Have a magical day! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Enchanted Ears Podcast: Anything & Everything Disney

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, a Disney Podcast that covers everything from “Who is Orange Bird” to ranking the MCU movies in NCAA college basketball fashion. If it’s Disney-related, we’re going to talk about it. This week in Disney News, legendary, newly-retired imagineer Joe Rohde is going to work for Virgin Galactic. We’re excited to see what he’s able to accomplish there! A Touch of Disney ticketed event will be happening at DCA, where people can walk around the park and get food and photos. Lastly, Disney+ announced their release dates for the Mighty Ducks Gamechangers, Big Shot, The Bad Batch, Monsters at Work, Turner and Hooch, and Chip n Dale Park Life. For our main show, we’ll be talking about our Top 5 Disney Heroes. Disney has a whole bevy of chivalrous characters, especially since they acquired Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel, but which ones make the top of our list? Which Avengers make the cut? Will I be able to convince Joe that Emperor Palpatine is not an actual hero? Learn the answer to this question and many more by tuning in. Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

News: This weekend was Labor Day in the US, and Downtown Disney was very busy. The limitations on guests in the shopping district were upheld, but this lead to long, physically distant, lines in the parking lot before the security tents to get into the area. Disneyland’s social media accounts were keeping guests informed of parking limitations throughout the weekend. – https://www.micechat.com/269469-disneyland-update-and-the-winner-is/ and https://www.mouseplanet.com/12746/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_September_7__13_2020#news1 Handheld folding fans have appeared at the resort and just in time for the massive heat wave that has been happening in California. There are a lot of fun options to choose from. Dr. Facilier sports the word “Shade” on his, The Evil Queen has “Queen” displayed, there is a plain Disneyland fan that has the retro-multi-colored text on it, an Orange Bird fan that is more of an icon out in Florida, and finally a Hei Hei fan that has the lovable chicken and his name. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/09/photos-three-new-folding-fans-featuring-dr-facilier-the-evil-queen-and-a-rainbow-disneyland-resort-logo/ Since our eipsode last week, new pictures of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway construction have been posted online. The building’s vertical construction seems to be going up at a rapid pace. At this rate, 2023 seems just around the corner! – https://www.micechat.com/269469-disneyland-update-and-the-winner-is/ New 65th Anniversary collection Funko POP! figures have appeared on for Amazon.com for sale. Peter Pan riding in a pirate ship, Minnie riding in a Dumbo vehicle, Mr. Toad riding in a Toad car, and a stand alone Mr. Toad with hypnotic eyes are available. Each figure runs $29.99, except for the stand alone Mr. Toad, which is $10.99. Newsome followed up by saying that there were still some details to work out, but as soon as they were at a point to comment, they would. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/09/02/newsom-california-making-a-lot-of-progress-toward-reopening-theme-parks/ This Tuesday, Cast Members were spotted in front of Disneyland installing signage related to COVID-19 changes in the parks. The red level is the second most restrictive, but allows indoor restaurants, and movie theaters at 25%, and indoor shopping at 50%. This could mean that indoor shops and restaurants at Downtown Disney could be just around the corner. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/09/08/could-we-see-indoor-dining-resume-in-downtown-disney-soon-heres-what-we-know/ Discussion Topic: Platform: Disneyland Adventures – https://www.amazon.com/Disneyland-Adventures-Xbox-One/dp/B075YLGWDY/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Disneyland+adventures&qid=1599660243&sr=8-1 Infinity – https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Infinity-3-0-Starter-Pack-Xbox/dp/B00WJ0Z17Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=269EGFSH29CFJ&dchild=1&keywords=disney+infinity&qid=1599660298&sprefix=disney+infin%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-1 Kingdom Hearts – https://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-All-One-Package-PlayStation/dp/B084J45N4V/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1Y9SJZQW5AWS9&dchild=1&keywords=kingdom+hearts&qid=1599660317&sprefix=kingdom+%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-3 Lion King & Aladdin (NES) – https://www.amazon.com/Lion-King-Pc/dp/B00002SWBG/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=lion+king+nes&qid=1599660343&sr=8-1 and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00002STX3/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=aladdin+nes&qid=1599660361&sr=8-1 Epic Mickey – https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Epic-Mickey-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002I0GEXM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=epic+mickey&qid=1599660379&sr=8-1 Board: Villainous – https://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Forge-Disney-Villainous-Strategy/dp/B07DLGD9K6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ZZN6W0UH1DAS&dchild=1&keywords=villainous&qid=1599660411&sprefix=villain%2Caps%2C203&sr=8-1 Jungle Cruise – https://www.amazon.com/Ravensburger-Disney-Jungle-Cruise-Adventure/dp/B08412VYKZ/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=jungle+cruise&qid=1599660428&sr=8-2 Mobile: Heroes Battle Mode – https://lol.disney.com/games/disney-heroes-battle-mode Magic Kingdoms – https://www.disney-magic-kingdoms.com Emoji Blitz – https://lol.disney.com/games/disney-emoji-blitz Tides of War – https://lol.disney.com/games/pirates-of-the-caribbean-tides-of-war Appisodes – https://appsupport.disney.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037504052-All-Disney-Junior-Appisodes-have-been-retired Lego Star Wars – https://www.starwars.com/games-apps/lego-star-wars-battles-mobile Sorcerer’s Arena – https://www.sorcerersarena.com Non-Disney: SWGOH – https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/galaxy-of-heroes MSF – https://www.marvelstrikeforce.com/en Marvel Avengers – https://avengers.square-enix-games.com/en-us/

Enchanted Ears Podcast: Anything & Everything Disney

In this week’s Disney News, Disney announces they’re taking a break on Star Wars movies, which is no real surprise after Solo didn’t do as well as expected. Also, Disney finally released that Galaxy’s Edge reservations give you a 4 hour window to explore the park and fit you with shock collars to enforce the time limit. (Okay…not really, but it’d get people out of the park on time, wouldn’t it?) Today, Orange is the new black. We’re discussing Orange Bird. Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but if you’ve been to EPCOT lately—or on Instagram for that matter—he’s pretty hard to miss. We go into detail of who he is, where he came from, and talk about his comeback. Back in 1967, Disney struck up a deal with the Florida Citrus Commission to create a loveable character to be featured in orange juice commercials and in the new Walt Disney World Resort’s  Enchanted Tiki Room. And unto us, a star was born! Or at least sort of a star. You see, Orange Bird went on a bit of a vacation, which is why a lot of kids raised in the 90s don’t know much about him. But now, he’s back to claim his rightful place in the park. We answer why he went and how he got created in the first place and so much more. Again, special thanks to our listeners for allowing us to reach this amazing milestone of 50 episodes. It seems like we just started, but we’re officially almost at our year marker! Also, thanks to Rob Plays on YouTube, allears.net, and Wikipedia for the amazing information.  Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode.

Our first encounter with those tasty brews from Grand Junction Brewery was at the 2016 Noblesville Brewfest, and boy were we pleased. Owner, Jon Knight, knew he didn’t want to mess with fancy, dancy, new fangled brews.  He wanted to get back to the basics and make good clean beers inspired by his rich European heritage the way they did in the past. So he joined forced with Head Brewer, Shawn Kessel, and went to work and have quickly made the young Grand Junction Brewing Co. one of the most sought after and successful breweries in the state. We had the pleasure of being invited to a special VIP night to sit with Jon, Sean, and assistant brewer, Mike Hofferman, have a few brews and learn more about this wondrous brewing company nestled in downtown Wesfield.    As usual, humor quickly ensues as we devour some fantastic GJ brews, the Orange Bird on a Boat Double IPA, Radio Moscow Imperial Stout, and the perfect Imperfect Backside Stout.  Tune in for the fun and learn more about Jon and Sean’s beginnings into the beer scene and how you can become a member to a special VIP Grand Junction club which has some marvelous benefits. Not only are they making solid brews, they are giving back to the community who is showing so much support for them.  You could feel and love and cheer in the room coming from the packed house of local VIP members.  We bellied up to the bar after the show and had a chance to meet some of the local patrons and hear some of their favorite Grand Junctions stories.  It was a difficult place to leave at the end of the night.  We weren’t able to thank them or their patrons enough for such a fun night and we can’t wait to get back there again.  Lots of shout outs this week including:  Jonathon Mullins and Broad Ripple Brewbub, Chris Knott and Flix Brewhouse, Andrew Castner of Mashcraft Brewing, Anita Johnson and Great Fermentations, The Ram, Chris Bly and Central State Brewing, Dan and Jerry of The Bier Brewery, Brian Graham and Four Day Ray, and of course, Mr. Dan Gohr of Redemption Alewerks   And a big thanks to Mr. Robert Rolfe Feddersen for letting us use his music to end the show.  The big man with the bigger heart, who, like the Pigs, loves this special Indiana craft beer scene.  Check out his page (http://www.robertrolfefeddersen.com/) and find out where you can see him live. http://www.grandjunctionbrewing.com/

The Orange Bird and a new Disney Contest Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #250 for the week of November 27, 2011. In the past 40 years, we've seen some pretty interesting things at Walt Disney World: A waterskiing Goofy, gunfighters shooting it out in Frontierland, singing fruit, a rapping Mickey and much more. But until recently, many people couldn't recall seeing a character walking around in Adventureland with a giant orange head, leaves for arms and a green stem sticking out of his head. Today, of course, we fondly recall (and miss) the Little Orange Bird, and in this week's show, Jim Korkis and I will take a look back in time at the Sunshine Tree Terrace and it's one-time host (and hostess). We'll explore the origins of the Orange Bird, the Sherman Brothers song, why he and Anita Bryant may have flown the coop, and the recent resurgence of our little orange friend. I'll then pose a question for you to share your thoughts on as well. It's also been way too long since our last contest, so this week, so listen carefully for your chance to win a Disney prize package in my "Where in the World Have You Heard This?" Contest. I’ll have a few announcements, including the date and location of the next Meet of the Month in Walt Disney World, and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show ------------------------------------- THANK YOU for your support by voting WDW Radio Best Travel Podcast for 2011! ------------------------------------- Visit the web site at wdwradio.com and talk about the show by visiting and posting in the WDW Radio Show message forums Walt Disney World Trivia on your iPhone! 770+ questions and Did You Knows!: http://bit.ly/wdwtip Twitter: http://Twitter.com/LouMongello Facebook: http://Facebook.com/WDWRadio Google+: http://LouMongello.com/gplus Subscribe to Celebrations! There is a lot of Walt Disney World News this week, including updates on the O, Canada! show, Disney's Pin Celebration 2007, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, changes to the reservations system and more. And if you enjoy some of the news, you’re going to love this week’s visit to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, as it is packed with some very interesting tidbits, including what’s going on backstage at the Wonders of Life pavilion, what’s going on onstage at the ABC Theater, High School Musical and it’s connection to the Hunchback of Notre Dame, surprises in store at the Imagination pavilion, what to expect when Spaceship Earth reopens, the possibility of a new E-Ticket attraction and so much more. Lots of breaking rumors here with some interesting facts to back much of them up, so be sure to listen in! Last week as part of our EPCOT Retrospective series we profiled the Imagination pavilion, and many of you wrote or called in and said that it was your favorite pavilion, and were still fans of Figment. Well this week I have a special treat for you. As part of my Legends of Disney Imagineering feature, I have an exclusive interview with former Imagineer Steve Kirk, who came up with the initial concepts for Figment and the Dreamfinder, as well as the Journey Into Imagination attraction. He also helped develop some of Disney’s most memorable characters, attractions, pavilions, and even complete theme parks. And for more than a decade, he served as the creative leader of Tokyo DisneySea in his role as Senior Vice President. We also talk about Epcot, the Studios and so much more, and I think you're really going to enjoy this. I'll take a trip aboard the Walt Disney World Wayback Machine with Jeff Pepper as we explore another lovable character and his companion. This time, it's the little Orange Bird from the Sunshine Pavilion in Adventureland. We'll talk about who this little bird was and where he came from, his on again off again relationship with Anita Bryant, why he flew the coop, and a surprising place you can find him now. We'll announce the winner of our recent WDW Half Marathon Challenge Contest, and announce the latest contest with the help of Eric Hollister from GeoMouse.com and Matt "Cretaceous" Hochberg from MGMStudios.org. I'll get through some more of your emails and voicemails as well, so sit back, relax enjoy this week’s episode of The WDW Radio Show.
