The group acquired metadata for around 256 million tracks, with 86 million actual songs, and is just under 300TB in total size. -An investigation by the New York Times into Uber's background checks and safety procedures for its drivers found a patchwork approach that opens the door for violent felons to drive for the ride-hailing platform. Reginald Dwayne Betts is a poet and lawyer. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow, he is the Executive Director of Freedom Reads, a not-for-profit organization that is radically transforming the access to literature in prisons through the installation of Freedom Libraries in prisons across this country.For more than twenty-years, he has used his poetry and essays to explore the world of prison and the effects of violence and incarceration on American society. The author of a memoir and three collections of poetry, he has transformed his latest collection of poetry, the American Book Award winning Felon, into a solo theater show that explores the post incarceration experience and lingering consequences of a criminal record through poetry, stories, and engaging with the timeless and transcendental art of paper-making. Here we go again - another liberal mayor whining about "compassion" while his city turns into a criminal playground. Governor Abbott just steamrolled Austin's weak mayor by clearing 48 homeless encampments, arresting 24 repeat felony offenders, and seizing over 125 grams of narcotics. Meanwhile, Mayor Watson is clutching his pearls because the state didn't ask permission to clean up his own streets.We're talking fake police badges, outstanding warrants, armed and dangerous criminals - but the mayor wants to "rebuild relationships" with these folks. Really? Abbott did what any competent leader should do: prioritized taxpaying citizens over criminal drug addicts camping in public parks. The state seized weapons, drugs, and a ton and a half of garbage while the mayor cried about "empathy."Why do blue city mayors always side with criminals over families trying to use public parks? Dope has titled this album "Felons and Revolutionaries" because they really want you to be invested in the idea they sold drugs to fund the making of it. And I guess because they think they have revolutionary ideas about politics, most of which boil down to "America is bad" and "society is bad and/or crazy". Whether or not they actually sold drugs is up for debate, but we dig into their debut that borrows a lot from Marilyn Manson and would ride the wave of industrial-tinged nu-metal that bands like Static-X, Powerman 5000 and Fear Factory would also surf on. The album isn't bad but the lyrics certainly are as we try to make sense of where they fit then and where they fit now in the overall history of nu-metal.
