Noelle Fox was nominated as a Beck's Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. What she loves most about high school sports is the friendships and relationships she has built with her teammates. The bond formed through countless hours of practice, long bus rides, and tough games is something truly special. As a senior, Noelle has especially enjoyed mentoring younger players and being a support system for them, whether it's offering words of encouragement, a quick hug, or even a prayer when they need it. She has also taken pride in being a positive role model for the team managers, making sure they feel just as valued as the players on the court. Beyond the relationships, high school sports have taught her the importance of time management. Balancing late-night games and the demands of College Credit Plus classes has challenged her to stay organized and disciplined. Throughout high school, Noelle has been actively involved in academics, athletics, and leadership opportunities that have shaped her character and work ethic. She has been a member of the basketball and volleyball teams for all four years. Outside of sports, she is involved in FCCLA and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is currently serving as an FFA Officer, helps as a Student Advisor, and has earned her Chapter and Greenhand Degrees. Additionally, she anticipates earning her State FFA Degree in May. She has competed in Dairy Cattle and General Livestock Career Development Events (CDEs). Noelle also participates in her church youth group. This summer, she will also be attending a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Making a positive impact in her community has been a priority for Noelle throughout high school. Through her involvement in service projects such as the Pettisville Recycling Center and Pettisville Community Clean-Up, she has contributed to sustainability efforts and assisted elderly residents with yard maintenance. Volunteering at the Fulton County Fair Pork and Milkshake Stands allowed her to support her local FFA chapter, while her work with Toys for Cheer helped provide meals and gifts to families in need. Noelle has also been committed to improving safety in her school by assisting with the creation and distribution of "Stop the Bleed" emergency kits. Educating younger students at Ag Fest and Farm Machinery Safety Day has been especially rewarding, as she has helped foster a greater understanding of agriculture and farm safety. Agriculture has always held a special place in Noelle's heart, despite not growing up on a farm. Her journey into the field took a surprising turn when she announced she would be working on a pig farm last summer. Being surrounded by squealing piglets and learning to vaccinate, notch ears, trim tails, and maintain clean, safe environments ignited her passion for animal care and the agriculture industry. This hands-on experience revealed how much she could contribute to animal welfare and sustainable farming practices. With her education, leadership, and dedication to the future of farming, she is confident that she will make a meaningful contribution to the agriculture industry. Noelle is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in agribusiness with a focus on animal production at Huntington University. She is excited to learn more about advancements in animal care and the role of technology in improving farm efficiency. She aims to combine her education and leadership experiences to contribute to her community and foster the growth of sustainable agriculture. Her long-term goal is to own and manage a farm where she can apply the practices she has learned and promote humane animal care. We're continuing our conversation with Rev. Dr. David Rice about confronting Christian nationalism—a topic we're diving into because of the ways that it can deeply affect our faith, our communities, and how we engage with one another in this shifting cultural and political landscape. In our last episode, David shared his personal story—how his upbringing, ministry experiences, and cultural shifts shaped his understanding of faith and politics. We explored the unique challenges pastors face in addressing these issues from the pulpit and the tension of being accused of getting "too political" when speaking out about national concerns. If you haven't had a chance to listen yet, we encourage you to go back and catch up on that conversation first. In this episode, we'll dig deeper into: What Christian nationalism is and why it's a critical issue for people of faith, Our collective longing for control—something humanity has wrestled with since the very beginning—and how this longing fuels Christian nationalism, And how we can thoughtfully engage with our friends, neighbors, and fellow believers in conversations about these challenging issues. We hope our conversation with David sparks some new thoughts or insights into how power is being used, where our faith fits into these conversations, and how we can move forward in meaningful, compassionate ways. About Our Guest: Rev. Dr. David Rice is BJC's digital strategist, leading online engagement for the organization and its Christians Against Christian Nationalism campaign. BJC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that brings people together to tackle today's serious threats to religious liberty, including the targeting of religious minorities, the rise of Christian nationalism, and the politicization of houses of worship. Ordained in the American Baptist Churches USA, Rice joined BJC's staff in 2024 after previously serving in rural parish ministry and starting his own communications consulting firm. Rice earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in missiology and organizational leadership from Western Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity degree from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. His undergraduate degree is from Huntington University, where he studied youth ministry and Bible. Rice, who has lived on the West Coast and in the UK, now lives in Michigan with his family. He enjoys cycling, gardening, cross-country skiing, sourdough bread baking, traveling, and Arsenal football.

Make decisions with employees' best interests in mind, follow a prudent process, document thoroughly, and avoid conflicts of interest.Conduct live bid RFPs every 3-5 years, sharing full plan details to maximize pricing leverage. Blind bids lack negotiation leverage, leading to less competitive pricing.Plan pricing should match the committee's fairness standards, considering plan size and demographics. Major record keepers sometimes offer blended fees based on account balances.Consider revenue sharing, flat fees, asset-based pricing, ERISA budgets, and DOL guidance for fair fee structures. Leverage economies of scale, negotiate competitive fees, and ensure investment quality through a thorough evaluation.“I think the best practice is to do live bids because when you compare against averages, you don't really have negotiation leverage. When you get live bids, your goal within gathering those is to maximize your negotiation leverage so you can go back to your current provider if you're happy with the services, and negotiate lower fees or enhanced services.” - Kameron JonesConnect with Julie Graham:Email: julie.graham@nfp.com Connect with Kameron Jones:Email: kameron.jones@nfp.com Connect with Eric Dyson: Website: https://90northllc.com/Phone: 940-248-4800Email: contact@90northllc.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/401kguy/ The information and content of this podcast is general in nature and is provided solely for educational and informational purposes. It is 52 weeks out of the year. Giving does not have to be prescriptive. What breaks your heart? Use that. Fundraising isn't about the money, it's about the heart of the giving partner. It is spiritual before it is mechanical.Be disciplined without haste. Rhythms of rest are necessary. There is always going to be more work to be done, but never once does the Bible say “Jesus ran.”  "I don't know about you and your 20s, but for me, I wanted a beacon for the next 200 steps. I didn't want a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, right? But the beauty of that is He gives us that lamp and it's just enough light for the next step and the next step and the next step." —  Jake Bland Episode References: C12: https://www.joinc12.com/Halftime Institute: https://halftimeinstitute.org/Pursuing God's Will Together: A Discernment Practice for Leadership Groups by Ruth Haley BartonThe Council: A Biblical Perspective on Board Governance by Gary G. ABOUT THIS EPISODE: Youth leaders are exhausted, and it's not because of the work itself -- it's from managing the grief of "what was" in ministry and wondering "what's next." Clearly the model we have had for youth ministry the last 20 years didn't work the way we wanted, as more and more people are leaving the faith-- so what can we do different to create life-lasting faith? Heather chats with expert Jen Bradbury about the work that Fuller Youth Institute did to explore how we can do things differently. You can preorder her new book "Faith Beyond Youth Group: Five Ways to Form Character and Cultivate Lifelong Discipleship" on Amazon. ABOUT JEN: Jen Bradbury serves as Content Director for Fuller Youth Institute and a volunteer youth pastor at her church. The Republican Professor
From Marxism to Christian Philosophy: A Testimony of God Who Calls Dr. Tedla G. Woldeyohannes, Ph.D. (TRP Episode 84)

The Republican Professor

For a time in his Ethiopian youth, Dr. Tedla G. Woldeyohannes, Ph.D., of Huntington University in Indiana, was a Marxist. But gradually he was called out of that materialistic metaphysics , and out of scientism, into Biblical, historic orthodox Christian belief, and into classically rigorous Philosophy, the search for truth and love of wisdom. Dr. Woldeyohannes has written a fascinating book in English (one of his 3 languages) just published called "A Philosopher's Testimony About the God Who Calls," which is worth every dollar and available for purchase here: https://www.amazon.com/Philosophers-Testimony-About-God-Calls/dp/B0B5KVD4K5/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=a+philosophers+testimony&qid=1661750890&sr=8-1 The book is clearly and beautifully (and at times humorously) written. It describes that inner journey that led him into contact with the rock stars (for lack of a better term) of Anglo/American analytic Philosophy. If Alvin Plantinga, William P. Alston, & William Hasker were Bruce Springsteen, Bono, and Cher, Tedla was receiving signed copies of Born in the USA, Under A Blood Red Sky, and that one song from Groundhog Day, plus money, from these stars *while he lived in Ethiopia !* Why did he receive these items ? Because he asked. He found their addresses, wrote letters, and asked for copies of books and articles unavailable to him otherwise. It seems God was and is at work in Tedla's life. Tedla joins us from Bill Hasker's old office there at Huntington University, which illustrates, perhaps even proves, the point. Through dire poverty, through traumatic family challenges, including the death of his brother (his roommate at the time), through tumultuous economies and politics, through international visa bureaucratic BS challenges and hangups, through enrollments and missed assignments because he had , as Aristophanes said of Socrates, he had his head in the clouds, through failure, delay, and even family death, God called Tedla to study Philosophy, no matter what. God called Tedla, (Dr. Tedla, now) to a life of singular focus on a Christian search for truth. This is a radical story. It's gripping. HIs outer journey accompanies and is as dramatic as his inner journey, taking him from Africa to Lost Angeles County, California to study Anglo-American Analytic Philosophy from a Christian perspective at Biola University, then to Colorado to teach Philosophy for a time (where, as it turns out, the same school that my own parents met, in my hometown), then to Western Michigan to continue his skills in a purely secular Philosophy graduate program, and finally to a Ph.D. in Anglo/American Analytic Philosophy at a Jesuit school under the famous Medieval Scholar and Philosopher of Religion Eleanore Stump and the famous Epistemologist John Greco at Saint Louis University. Through it all he was financially supported by Bill Alston and Bill Hasker, among some others, like for instance the philosophy celebrity equivalent of perhaps Johnny Cash, Dr. Peter van Inwagen, a famous Philosopher at the University of Notre Dame, who doesn't even think that money is real (see the 1 hour mark for detail of the metaphysics of ordinary palpable objects). There are so many moving parts to this story, to this intellectual development, but final detail: Recall, Tedla was not a native English speaker. He had to work for it, and work hard. His first purchases were: a radio, and a good English dictionary. Both for the purposes of mastering English. It has paid off. The Republican Professor is a pro-mastering-English, pro-Philosophy-done-well, pro-compelling-life-story, pro-turning-from-Marxism, pro-Testimony-of-the-God-Who-Calls podcast. Therefore, welcome Dr. Tedla G. Woldeyohannes, Ph.D., sitting in Bill Haskers' office at Huntington (I can't believe it) The Republican Professor is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Mather, Ph.D. TRP is currently ranked last in the world in the category of boring podcasts. Be sure to subscribe !
