Midsommar Edition…. Just be kind
We're baaaack with Jenny B for part two! This time we switch gears back to the the mom talk, kicking off with the thoughts of having a FIFTH kid and how our society doesn't produce the big families like the good old days. Unlike the three of us, Jenny is a stay at home mom, so it's really cool to hear her perspective, and it's true... the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Liz asks Jenny how someone can be a great support system, not just by "offering" help, but actually showing up, and that it's ok to say YES to help. We talk about the double edged sword of social media, where you want to post your most proud moments but are sensitive to others who may be struggling (ie., pregnancy announcements), and last but not least, we get into the Belichick's upcoming move out west! We hope you loved this episode! Please leave us a 5 star review, and hit the follow button! Welcome back to the program as the Guyz are fresh off a trip where all five were together once again for some fun. We start off the show talking OU Baseball and Softball and how their postseason is going so far as the women prepare for the WCWS and the men prepare to host their first regional in more than a decade. We then move on to Venables, Joe C, Moser and Jenny B in Destin, Florida for the spring meetings for the SEC. BV had an interview with George Stoia of Sooner Scoop and we break down some of the talking points from that. We wrap u[ the show with our PGP MVPs of the week and some light recruiting talk. This episode starts out with a little Jenny B recap, lip flips, an upcoming trip to NYC, and how we 10/10 recommend taking your kids to see the new paw patrol movie. Then we dive deep into today's topic - removing toxicity from your life. One major take away from this episode is that toxicity doesn't always mean or relate to a person! It can be a bad habit, energy, excuses, negative self talk, etc. We discuss all these different types of toxicity, real life examples we've dealt with, and how we got through them. We begin with an update on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We speak with Robert Hage, Senior fellow at The U of C School of Public Policy, for insight into how the war has ‘galvanized' NATO allies and created a desire by many other European nations to apply for membership. What this ultimately means for Russia? Next, a look at the headlines South of the border, from the latest debates on abortion ‘rights' to the continued US response to the war in Ukraine. We catch up with Jackson Proskow, Global News Washington Bureau Chief. Then, it's the return of one of the most ‘colourful' fundraisers in the city. We hear details on the 10th annual #Splash-of-Red benefit, in support of SafeLink Alberta. We speak with Katie Ayres, Executive Director of ‘Safe Link Alberta' to learn more about the organization. Finally, 'Food Network Canada' recently launched the second season of its TV show “Fire Masters”, and a Calgary Chef will be on the show this weekend. We meet Chef Jenny B, owner/operator of “Jane Bond BBQ”. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode, I chat with Jenny B, public speaker, and leadership coach! In the past year and a half, many of us have lost jobs, loved ones, and honestly? Even our minds at times - as did Jenny. Having lost all of her income streams within 48 hours, she managed to pivot when she needed to the most, and continue to share her gifts with the world! On this episode we dive into: Bouncing back after losing it all.Navigating relationships during times of struggle.Leaning on your partner when you need to.How to believe in yourself.Finding blessings through hard times.Using your own wisdom daily. The take-home: Jenny has been a public speaker for over 15 years helping people to believe in themselves and inspiring them to become leaders! But once the COVID19 pandemic hit, her entire career path had changed. Her story will inspire you to, “stop drinking your own kool-aid”, and instead, start believing that you always have something to offer to the world!Jenny, like all of us, had been impacted due to all of the changes that happened to our world in 2020. Within 48 hours she lost her job, all streams of income, and her tenant even pulled a “midnight move” without warning. Financial stress quickly seeped into her life, as her husband lost his job too. But none of this stopped her from continuing to believe in herself.Although times were tough and there was no end in sight of COVID19, Jenny and her husband helped pull each other out of their funk together and find a way to thrive. “I believe that I have things within me that people need.” Jenny claims, “I believe in myself and I teach others to believe in themselves too - and so who would I be if I didn't do that?” Staying optimistic and continuing to move forward is what got her and her husband through. Well, that, and his realist views to help balance them out. One thing that Jenny says she is beyond grateful for is the ability to help her partner believe in himself and also having a partner who brings her back down to earth when she needs it, “because after all, we still need to pay our taxes…”Jenny compares rough times in life to exercising. If you want to see your muscles grow, you have to endure some pain. They will stretch, tear, and swell but, “It's the hard things that sharpen us.” she says. I know many of you, warriors, are going through hard times yourself, whether related to COVID19 or not, and Jenny is living proof that the only thing standing in your way preventing you from moving forward - is you. So what do you say, is it time you get out of your own way and start believing in yourself? I think so! And what better day to start, then today!Get in touch with with Jenny BWebsite: www.jennyb.ca Insta: @jennyb_yyz

Over the next two episodes I thought it would be fun to go back through the interviews that I did from this season and pull from them the lessons that I have learned from all of my incredible guests. I have always said and believe that there is something to learn and be grateful for every single day, and doing this podcast has proven that to me over and over again. Everyone has a story, their own hard beautiful journey and by telling these stories and our journey's, we may be lifting someone up that really needed it but didn't know how to ask. For this episode I will be discussing episodes 17 to 25 and I can't wait to dive in!! On EP17 my friend Stacey joined me to talk about her experience with divorce and finding out her husband was having an affair and what that journey looked like for not only her but also for her two girls. Stacey helped me remember that even though these things can happen, it doesn't have to be the end of your happiness....that you can move on and still live your life to the fullest..... On EP18 my beautiful friend (and neighbour) Chenoa joined me to share her journey of giving her son up for adoption at birth and then reconnecting with him in 2020 and the rollercoaster of emotions that took place. Chenoa reminded me that there is always two sides to a story, and in the case of a child, both the birth mother and birth father's feelings need to be considered. That was a big aha for me with my ongoing search for my half sister. On EP19 I invited my therapist and "my Jenna" onto the podcast to talk about her role in helping me through one of the darkest times of my life. It was with Jenna that I was asked for the first time - what are you going to do with these struggles - you've shown what you can do for yourself and your family - what can you do to help others with what you've learned. Jenna was the one who first knew that I was supposed to use my voice and find a path and a way to connect with and guide other people. It was through her encouragement and others close to me that I decided to be vulnerable and put our story out there. On EP20 my incredible cousin James was here and I loved every minute of our conversation....James was here to talk about his own management of his mental health and what that has looked like for him over the past few years. James taught me that men, teachers, athletes....all go through the same mental health battles as everyone else, and if you are a boy, a young man, a grown man - that it is OK to ask for help and it's ok to not be ok.....and it's MOST definitely ok for you to cry - Vulnerability can be your strength. On EP21 I had my sweet friend Tina on the show to talk about her hard beautiful journey and wow....she has been through some things for sure. From going through two divorces as a young woman, to an infertility battle, to then losing two of her sisters to breast cancer, Tina taught me that you can take matters into your hands when it comes to preventing cancer, especially when it has had such a devastating impact on her families life. On EP22 I had my mentor and soul coach Bree-Anna Vincent on the podcast to give my listeners an insight into what it is I am currently working on and what soul coaching is all about. I could go on literally for HOURS about what lessons I have learned from Bree-Anna but the number one would be that we are Human BEINGS, not Human DOINGS. That it's absolutely critical that we learn to connect with ourselves and understand who we are at our core. EP23 - On EP23 I had the wonderful Tonya Woolford on my podcast and I LOVED our conversation about what she is doing as a Death Doula or Death Walker. It is such an important role that she fills in the lives of those people that are nearing the end of their human experience and to help them transition. Not only does she provide comfort to the dying person, she is also there to support the family and friends of her clients. What I learned from Tonya is that by becoming more comfortable with the idea of death (because really, none of us can escape it), you can actually learn to enjoy your life more and it not be a source of dread your whole life and experience joy more deeply. On EP24 I had the lovely Mandy Balak here with me and she was incredible to talk to. Mandy and I talked about the RISE Lake Louise conference that her company ACE Collective put on, in the middle of a pandemic no less, and how that experience was from both of our perspectives. What I learned from Mandy is that even in the middle of a global pandemic, with all things stacked against you, it is possible to rise, it is possible to get back up and succeed in whatever you want to achieve. On EP25 I had the absolutely HILARIOUS and beautiful soul Jenny B here with me.....what a blast. Besides being so incredibly funny, she has a heart of gold and I loved getting to know her better. Jenny taught me that it is ok to be vulnerable and share your story in front of a large group of people and even ugly snot cry too.....because there is going to be someone else in the room that has felt the same way (like she did for me). And she taught me that it is always critical for a woman to carry a set of car tweezers with them at all times. On the next episode I will share the lessons I learned from episodes 26 to 33! Worldwide hit, The Rhythm of the Night, is a song that still gets a lot of airplay since it was released by Italian Eurodance group Corona in 1993. Jenny B, the voice behind the hit, joins Jesse in the studio.

We had a guest star this week with Jenny B. Jenny introduces us to Yoga Nidra which is a guided practice like guided meditation. Yoga Nidra is practiced in the savasana pose, with a goal of deep relaxation and finding the middle ground between sleep and consciousness. Yoga Nidra slows the wavelengths in your mind as you enter a sleep-like stage. There is evidence that yoga nidra helps relieve stress.Recorded on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

We recorded the interview for this episode back in early March (the good ol' days) but just finally were able to put it together now! Hope everyone is staying safe and realizing how important toilet paper actually is for the amount of times you are now using your home bathroom. Take care!! Delaney P & Jenny B

We start with the important stuff this time: Jenny Bertolette, VP of communications for Meals on Wheels America breaks down just how the organization works, what the latest headlines really mean, and how we can best go about taking care of our aging population. We discuss the wide-reaching effects that come from nutritional and social support of seniors and the balance of public-private-partnerships in social services. In the latter half, we revel in Alex Jones’ Russian rant, browse the comment section on the Christian Broadcasting Network website (enough said), and look into shifting attitudes about and between religious groups in the United States. Also, Eric Prince sold some shady seashells, at least we’re pretty sure…?
