Finally, something good comes of enabling: enable your garage to do more gearhead things (and stuff)! Just Mark, Just Caleb and Justin sit down amongst the Porsches at the new AutoVos (Caleb bought out EAS and went independent) for an hour of making garages better. Stop polishing the door handles and think bigger: (tasteful) additions of more floor and door, coating and levelling those floors, getting more work underway with ramps and stools, expanding the tools available with better boxes, plus seasonal enhancement with heating and drainage, and while we're thinking big, how about building up with a second story and a bridge to the house? There's so much more: a semi drag races a Rav4, Ruger makes a nice .22, the Dutchese sell a pricey Stryker, Great Divide, Big Sky, Cerviceria and Trinity brew fine beers, catwalks make a handy way to repel the hipster hordes, plus Man or Astroman, Galactic, Pantera, Dead Milkmen, Fugazi, Truckfighters and Five Horse Johnson.

Today's show opens with a Pentagon study finding serious concerns about current and past clearance holders having dementia. When we have examples of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell freezing on camera, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) being told just say “aye” and President Joe Biden making gaffe after gaffe, it's no wonder there is a concern about mental competency. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) informed us that the Biden regime didn't release just $6 billion dollars to Iran but actually $16 billion. Biden has put a kidnapping target on the backs of every overseas American. I then remind you of an inconvenient fact Dr. Fauci had to confront in late 2021 about natural immunity being as good as, if not better than, protection from the Covid vaxx. The initial Israeli study has been replicated 65 times across 19 other countries, all with the same conclusion. Yet, the new CDC Director, Mandy Cohen wants to know how they can rehabilitate their image? She asks this right after saying the CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get the new booster for the fall/winter. This also gives us a moment of levity to play a parody song from Jim Gossett called, “Kung Flu Lying.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stated over the weekend that just Biden's own admission of having Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired is proof he changed US foreign policy for money. I've been saying this all along. Hunter Biden's lawyers have a new strategy, now. They plan to go on the attack in scorched-Earth fashion. Constitutional expert Jonathan Turley writes a piece about this in the NY Post. It's interesting to see this fourth attempt to present a new image of Hunter Biden to the country. Finally, I address my thoughts on Rep. Lauren Boebert's actions from over the weekend. Constitutionalists have to remember, there is always a target on our backs and cameras everywhere. The will resort to lying and making up stories about us, so don't aid them by giving them real actions to use against us. It's a harsh lesson to learn, but one I hope she heeds in the future. David Martin, the founding chairman of M Cam asset management company, said at an International Covid Summit organized by the European Parliament in Brussels earlier this month that the US was responsible for the making of both coronaviruses causing the outbreaks of severe acute respiratory syndrome - or SARS - in 2003 and the Covid-19 pandemic in the past three years. The third edition of the summit featured speakers from anti-lockdown advocates to medical academia to discuss the global pandemic response. The speakers shed light on the possibility that the coronavirus which caused the pandemic was man-made, instead of naturally occurring. (Click Here for Full Article)

It is a tradition in August to talk about what we are doing to get ready for winter here at the Holler Homestead. Why? Because waiting until that first frost to have things set is a terrible idea and leads to several days of no sleep and lots of activity. Today, I will share how we plan activities for a busy fall, in advance of winter, to be better prepared for the harsh realities of below freezing temperatures in a state ill prepared for its weather patterns. I have been using watered down dawn for a few years and it never even occurred to me that it might be saving me money. I mix it even thinner than Anna, more like 1/4 or 1/5, and I put it in used foaming hand soap bottles from bath and body works. It dispenses from them no problem once watered down. I use this almost exclusively when hand washing dishes as I use them, and I use it to wash my hands a lot too. Since it's good on food grease it works well on oil and grime from mechanical work, so I use it regularly to wash my hands while working in the garage and I set myself up another bottle at work. It's way more gentle and I personally find it just as effective, if not better, than the gritty mechanic's soaps (like gojo orange, if you're familiar). Come to think of it, this has probably saved me a bit of money there since I don't buy that stuff at all anymore, probably more than I might save on dishes. Weekly Shopping Report from Joe for 8/28/2022 We made four stops on our weekly shopping run. The first stop was Community Chest to donate a box of books, an exercise chair we have not been using, and some miscellaneous other things. Second was Dollar Tree, where I grabbed a drink and we picked up a few other items. I wanted some ointment from the Health aisle, but there was none left. I saw a lot of empty hooks in that section, which is a big change from a month or two ago, when they were very well stocked. Stop #3 was Home Depot. A 2x4x8 is $4.75. I know not long ago it was $4.98, but I don't remember if that was last week or a little longer. They have plenty of stock of lumber, tools, batteries, and LED bulbs. Aldi was last. The store was very crowded, but I think just because it was late Saturday morning; I didn't see people panic-buying. Inventory looked good, except for limited quantities of meats. For example there was pork loin, but no tenderloin. Beef looked pretty sparse too, but there were enough different cuts of various meats to at least cover all the shelves. I don't recall seeing any face diapers. I think the Kung Flu narrative is finally collapsing. At my last fill during the week, I paid $4.399/gallon for untainted regular gasoline. I understand the sixth largest refinery in the country has been shut down due to an electrical fire. They're in Indiana, and they and a few surrounding states (Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin come to mind) have declared states of emergency, and the parasites at DOT have waived hour restrictions on truckers so they can bring in fuel. Russell & Robert meet artist Susan Chen (b. Hong Kong, SAR, 1992) from Los Angeles where she's been installing her brand new solo exhibition at Night Gallery. We discuss making paintings during the pandemic, Alice in Wonderland, silver glitter Crocs, her admiration for English painter John Bratby (known for his 1950s kitchen sink realist paintings), learning how to find her own artistic voice and numerous positive experiences and lessons from working as studio assistant for fellow painter Shara Hughes.Text by Dani Yan for Night Gallery: "I Am Not a Virus is an exhibition of new paintings by the New York and Connecticut-based painter Susan Chen. This is Chen's first exhibition at the gallery. During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the artist collaborated with twenty-six different sitters of Asian and Asian American descent living throughout the United States. After locating her subjects through various social media platforms, Chen painted her subjects via Zoom in real time. Despite her unfamiliarity with her sitters, Chen's portraits distill much more than just their subjects' likenesses. Informed by just a few hours of Zoom conversation with each person, Chen creates compositions that illuminate the experiences, desires, and emotions of her sitters. This closeness comes from Chen's attention to detail: from nail polish bottles to birth control pills, the objects in Chen's compositions are rendered in the same heavy brushstrokes as the people they are connected to. Viewers are thus prompted to consider the many elements of Chen's paintings evenly—the subjects themselves are important, but so are their stories. This focus on Asian American humanity and history has been central to Chen's work. But after the rise in hate crimes against Asians in the wake of COVID-19, Chen's practice took on a new impetus. While her past work alluded to Asian American cultural alienation, her recent paintings address anti-Asian hate with a sharpened sense of directness and urgency. In a self-portrait, I Am Not the Kung Flu, the artist captures herself wielding a taser with an array of self-defense weapons scattered across the table in front of her. A pepper gel canister, a whistle, tear gas, a personal alarm, a pocket knife: these are just some of the items Chen found while surveying online what Asian Americans were buying during the pandemic to protect themselves from assault. Indeed, over the course of the past year, the means of survival have changed drastically for Asian Americans like Chen.Chen's involvement in the fight against anti-Asian racism extends beyond her artistic practice. In the aftermath of the Atlanta spa shootings in March 2021, she attended several Stop Asian Hate movement rallies. Inspired by the gravity and hope of these gatherings, Chen distilled her experiences into the largest painting in the show, #StopAsianHate, which depicts a group of life-sized protagonists wielding signs with anti-Asian-violence slogans.Amid endless reports of anti-Asian hate crimes, the sense of urgency that Chen has felt in her day-to-day life has translated into her work. In the artist's own words, her paintings became more “intentional,” both conceptually and formally. Each portrait was executed as a piece of an overarching narrative. Each color was premixed with delicate care before touching the canvas. In order to achieve the more closely-defined goals behind this show, Chen needed to paint with conviction—the thick layers and bold pigments of paint that punctuate her new canvases are evidence of her increased confidence. These days, reported cases of anti-Asian violence continue to rise, but media coverage has dwindled. Chen, it seems, has found her voice at the right time."Chen received her MFA from Columbia University in 2021 and her BA from Brown University in 2015. In August 2020, Chen presented her debut solo exhibition, On Longing, at Meredith Rosen... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Former President Trump labeled COVID-19 the "China Virus" and "Kung Flu." Since then, violence targeting Asian Americans has surged. As a result, older Asian Americans are afraid of facing attacks on their walks to the grocery store. Parents fear harassment against their kids at school. Russell Jeung, the co-founder of the Stop AAPI Hate coalition, is determined to make this reality known. TIME magazine has listed the coalition founders among its 100 most influential people for 2021.
Hate against the Asian communities has risen during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are fucking fed UP! In light of recent events, we will be taking a break from our regular programming this week to shed light on this issue to urge communities to stand united against racism. On Tuesday, March 17, eight people were killed in shootings at three spas in Atlanta, with six of the victims being Asian women. The shootings have occurred at a moment when Asian Americans are faced with an influx of anti-Asian fuelled violence and hate crimes against them, driven by racism across the globe linked to COVID-19, and ignited by Trump's harmful comments, calling COVID-19 the "China virus" and "Kung-Flu". Over the past year, since the start of the pandemic, the increase of Asian hate crimes has gone up from 150% to 700%+, with a disproportionate percentage of incidents directed at women and elders. In today's podcast, we will cover current events and the rise of Asian Hates crimes and incidents, the Atlanta tragedy, the dangers of Asian Fetish, the persexualization of Asian women, and the history behind it. The past year has been difficult for everyone. The constant fluidity in our lives, concern for family members, and trying to maintain some type of normalcy have all been challenging. But if you are an Asian American, you are facing intense scrutiny, bullying, and crimes.Unfortunately, the backlash against Asian American Pacific Islanders has risen with the political climate of phrases such as "Kung Flu" and 'China Virus". It is such an honor to have Dr. Russell Jeung, professor of Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University and co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate, join me in the studio this week to discuss how Asian Americans are being bullied and what we can do about it. Teaching our children to appreciate and embrace physical and cultural differences is crucial for a homogeneous society. As an AA, I'm saddened to watch the increased violence and hatred among any group of people, but especially those from my heritage. This is a learning opportunity for everyone. For Asian Americans to teach about our culture, and our hopes and dreams. For those who want to understand, be inclusive, to embrace our differences, this episode is for you.Dr. Jeung is a rock star in his work and has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, KTLA, and Time magazine to name a few.Time Stamps:2:09 - Introduction of Dr. Russell Jeung5:02 - AAPIs, mental health, and COVID6:30 - AAPI youth are disproportionately discriminated against9:24 - 3 ways AAPIs are being attacked14:08 - What can parents do to mitigate this hate15:00 - How AAPI parents can talk to their children16:49 - How non-Asians can talk to their children18:27 - AAs and cyberbullying23:40 - Women and girls being targeted more24:17 - Help the Cause of Stop AAPI Hate29:57 - Empower parents to empower their children31:47 - Words of wisdom from Dr. Jeungwww.stopaapihate.orgSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/user?u=31725704)

Claire Wang is a freelance journalist and writer. Her recent article for NBC Asian America unpacks how anti-Asian sentiment in the early 80's, led to the murder of Vincent Chin. Now in 2020, the familiar story of political scapegoating plays out, with terms like "Kung Flu" fanning the flames of racist attacks. But there may be hope on the horizon with some Asian activists pushing for stricter prosecution of hate crimes. In our last podcast, Traitor Trump, we talked about how Donald Trump keeps lambasting China, blaming the mounting covid-19 deaths in the U.S. on China, calling the coronavirus the “Kung Flu.” We said he's trying to divert attention from his own inept response to the pandemic that's devestating our country. We said he's doing it to divert attention to China when his ties to Russia and Vladimir Putin are gaining increased scrutiny because of the scandal over bounties.Well, today Not Fake News writer Chris Waldron points out that in addition to trying to divert attention away from his failings, Trump is doing yet another version of shifting blame, claiming that those who are protesting are trying to destroy our nation.Trump needs to look in the mirror if he wants to get a look at somebody who's destroying America. It's Donald John Trump. Here are Chris' comments from his Not Fake News blog, “History Rewrite at a Time of Crisis.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-lean-to-the-left-podcast--4719048/support.
Hey, thanks for connecting with today's podcast from NFN Radio News brought to you by Not Fake News.biz. I'm your host, Bob Gatty, founder and editor of Not Fake News. You know, Donald Trump keeps lambasting China, blaming the mounting deaths in the U.S. on China, calling the coronavirus the “Kung Flu,” much to the joy of his racist faithful, turning China into a whipping boy so he can divert attention from his own inept response to the pandemic that's sweeping our country. But he's also trying to divert attention to China another way, trying to tie Joe Biden to that country. And he's doing it at a time when his ties to Russia and Vladimir Putin are gaining increased scrutiny because of the scandal over bounties.I take a look at all of this in today's podcast called “Traitor Trump.” Take a listen.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-lean-to-the-left-podcast--4719048/support.

Episode 7 (recorded 24 June 2020). -- Are Bibles props, churches as circus tents and Evangelicals just pawns to President Trump? It would certainly seem so. "Kung Flu!" shouted President Donald Trump on 23 June 2020 at a rally held at Dream City Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The President made racist jokes and the crowd went wild inside a Phoenix megachurch. Bishop Jack Lumanog also takes us back to 1 June 2020 where peaceful protestors from Lafayette Square were met with militaristic tactics so that the President could have his 5 minute photo op in front of St. John's Episcopal Church on 1 June 2020. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bishoplumanog/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bishoplumanog/support
Coronavirus has significantly weakened; could disappear without a vaccine
The rate of new coronavirus cases are up in 23 states. The states leading the charts include some of the largest: California, Texas, Florida and Arizona. President Trump is refusing to answer the question on whether he asked for coronavirus testing to be slowed down, after saying it at a Saturday rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was asked during an interview with E.W. Scripps News Monday. The White House insisted the president was speaking "in jest" when he made the comment "slow the testing down." The White House is also defending Trump's use of the racial slur "Kung Flu" to describe the Coronavirus. During a press conference Monday, the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said, Trump was only pointing to the origin of the disease, China. The United States has now surpassed 120,000 confirmed Coronavirus deaths with almost 2.3 million confirmed cases. New York City and Washington D.C. have entered phase two of reopening cities with restaurants and retail shops. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, the state went from the highest transmission rate in the United States to the lowest. In Florida, the State's Health Department confirmed on Monday there are now more than 100,000 coronavirus cases. Now, Miami officials are requiring residents to wear a mask when out in public. As we are bombarded with daily news and numbers of the COVID-19 virus and its effects, one aspect has be sidelined: the sharp rise in hate incidents particularly against Asian-Americans, LGBTQI+ people, and immigrants. These incidents represent a spike in an already worrisome trend of anti-LGBTQI+ animus. Lecia Brooks, Chief Workplace Transformation Officer of the Southern Poverty Law Center, (SPLC) joins us today to discuss the issue and what can be done to fight it. Prior to her current role at SPLC, she previously served as the SPLC's outreach director, where she traveled across the U.S. and abroad to counter hate and extremism and to promote the celebration of difference. "A significant factor fueling the frequency of this trend is the racist rhetoric of President Donald Trump," Lecia told the LA Blade Newspaper. Trump has refused to refer to the virus and it accompanying pandemic by its given scientific label, instead referring to it as ‘the Chinese Virus,' in press briefings and press photo opportunities. This has also caused some members of the West Wing staff to label it inaccurately and in a seemingly racist way. On March 17, CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jang, a Chinese-American tweeted, “This morning a White House official referred to #Coronavirus as the “Kung Flu” to my face. Makes me wonder what they're calling it behind my back,” she wrote. Today, we unpack the hate... With Co-host Brody Levesque.
