The next generation of culinary artisans are changing up the industry. These artisans have a whole new approach to reaching and satisfying the next generation consumer. In this podcast we will explore chefs and artisans from around the world diving into their story and passion. In this episode of Chef AF, I chat with chef and restaurateur, Ebony Austin of Nouveau Bar and Grill an Atlanta-based restaurant and she currently has locations in both College Park and Jonesboro. The restaurant is themed after Austin's Chicago upbringing and is a hot spot in Atlanta's lounge and dining scene which can be partly attributed to Ultimate Cajun Seafood and Grits dish on the menu. It has chargrilled shrimp, salmon and crab meat served over stone ground grits and topped over cajun cream sauce. Before Austin got into the restaurant business she said, after college she worked for Campbell's, Godiva in business management and then 1 800 Flowers. After starting her own real estate company, Austin missed the day to day interaction with people. She said she thought and prayed to think of something that she absolutely loved and thought about morning and night, for her that was food and people. Austin's next move was to open a restaurant. She took what she learned from her past experience, her passion and love for food and put that energy into a restaurant. She attributes her success to a combination of those things. I asked Austin if there was one piece of advice she had wished someone had given her about getting into the restaurant industry. She shares, if someone would have given me advice, I would have liked for them to say, You got this, you can do it. It's possible. Even when it doesn't look possible, it's possible. I think those words of encouragement are what really helps.” Austin learned as a child that it is better to give than receive and attributes that to her strong belief in philanthropy. She makes giving back to her community a priority, including giving a portion of the profits from her Nouveau Creations line of stone-grounds grits to charitable initiatives throughout Metro-Atlanta. To hear Austin's top 3 tips for opening a restaurant and more about her philanthropic efforts check out this episode of Chef AF, plus you can get Austin's Ultimate Cajun Seafood and Grits recipe!

Have you ever questioned whether your day to day actions align with your values?Do you give to charity but wonder if there's more you can do to have a positive impact in the world?  Not by giving money but by making those small changes in your life that will have an overwhelmingly positive impact, much more so than donating some money here and there, Are you keen to teach your children just how they can make the world a genuinely better place? Well then you are in luck! This week I have the absolute pleasure of talking to Sharon Schneider. We are consumers of philanthropy and should be respected as such. That means you need 10 years to repair the harm done in our communities, exclusion… so be it. That's just the work of development.” - Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland “I've always dreamt of creating a mutually supportive, global black economy of giving and funding of our nonprofits and businesses.” - Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland “People are now asking, where are the black people? It's a fair question. So it's evolving. But that doesn't mean that they're ready to take action because they have to do some unlearning…” - April Walker “There's nothing wrong, of course, with inviting people from different backgrounds to invest. In this episode, I share a conversation with Jonathan McCoy and Becky Endicott from We Are For Good, about a topic that's near and dear to my heart - nonprofits and changing the world. I've actually been on their podcast as well and we had SO MUCH FUN. I feel like we could have gone on for hours, they're my newfound besties, and you're going to flip at just how down-to-earth these folks are! Jon and Becky knew each other since college and both started out their careers in marketing. Becky Endicott was a marketer and writer, while Jon McCoy was a designer. They both served the nonprofit sector through the Oklahoma State University Foundation.  And it was at this formative time, when they were entering into a billion dollar fundraising campaign, that they fell in love with the transformative power of philanthropy. Can you imagine two ridiculously young, ridiculous idealists, building the marketing for a billion dollar campaign?! Well, long story short, they pulled through and thus began their journey through their fundraising careers. But this dynamic duo wasn't quite satisfied, they wanted to give back MORE and still have time to be with their families! I mean, who says they can't have both, right?! And so, WE ARE FOR GOOD was born. Join us on this episode as we discuss how they turned their love for philanthropy into a thriving fundraising consultancy business committed to social impact initiatives.  They'll be sharing what it's like to be two marketers in the nonprofit sector, the social impact of fundraising and volunteering, & how they're nurturing the younger generations interested in forging their path in the philanthropic space. So, make sure you tune in! In this episode, we explore: The story behind how Jonathan McCoy & Becky Endicott found and nurtured their passion for philanthropy and fundraising What it's like building a fundraising consultancy as marketers How they are serving the younger generation interested in forging their path in the nonprofit sector Social impact uprisings and how it can lead the world to a more philanthropic place LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: How to Use Financials to Show Impact - Stephanie Skryzowski Ungettable Get List  Stephanie's blog post about her nonprofit experience and how you can change the world Master Your Nonprofit Numbers She's The First We Are For Good on Instagram We Are For Good on LinkedIn We Are For Good Community We Are For Good Workshops

Ubuntu comes from the Zulu language meaning "I am because you are". It shares the idea that we are all responsible for each other and should give selflessly, not only in abundance because at the end of the day we are all responsible for one another. African philanthropy is all about giving back and is centred on community. Mide Akerewusi is a fundraiser and Founder of AgentsC, who had a growing curiosity for how Africans approach giving. This idea grew into the Duality of Giving Report, which took a deeper look into Africa's nonprofit sector and approaches to charitable. Our interview discusses: What Western culture can learn from African philanthropyHow to approach fundraising with a generous mindsetAnd what surprised him most when reviewing their research Official Transcript https://www.trustdriven.com/blogs/mide-akerewusi-on-african-philanthropy-and-the-duality-of-giving More On AgentsC https://www.agentsc.ca/ The Duality of Giving Report https://www.agentsc.ca/the-duality-of-giving Connect With Driven https://linktr.ee/TrustDriven

In this episode, I’m interviewing Cindy Wu. My good friend Cindy is the Honorary President of the HK Baptist University School of Chinese Medicine and the Vincent & Lily Woo Foundation, She is also the Head Martial Arts teacher at the Mandarin Flagship Hotel in which she specialises in Qi Gong. Both Cindy and Cindy’s grandmother Mrs. Lily Woo are amazing women. Lily Woo was the Director of Po Leung Kuk (which is an organisation here in Hong Kong that supports orphaned children, education and other charitable services) When I mentioned to Cindy about She Means Bizness, both Cindy and I agreed that we had to tell her grandmother’s story. Mrs.Lily Woo was a woman who fully embodies, “She Means Bizness”. For Cindy, “She Means Bizness” makes her think of a female who knows exactly what she wants; a woman who doesn’t mess around. A woman who sees a target and goes for it and doesn’t get deviated. Cindy also appreciates that nowadays it is socially acceptable for women to be entrepreneurs or to go into business. Some say that Mrs. Lily Woo was born in the wrong era. She had all the ingredients to be a successful business person but during her time it was not socially acceptable for a woman to be a successful business person. Now, we are so blessed to have the opportunities we have and the possibilities are endless. Cindy's Message:We are fortunate to be born in an era in which it is okay for us women to succeed at what we are good at. We have all the resources and all the emotional support to achieve everything that our grandmothers wish they could have done. Now, we can do it for them.Follow Cindy on Instagram to keep up-to-date with her impact-driven inspirational journey here:Instagram: @cinnaqi     I hope this episode has been a contribution to you! A forgotten secret to success, what is it really, I believe it’s something that is not talked about much in the business world. And when we are done today it may set you on an extended path to your success.  Success without fulfillment is empty I just want to talk about so what does that mean, we all strive for success we all work hard we work probably harder than we want to build a type of business we want so I just want to go over some things and say that I think that is not talked enough about and you hear in dribs and drabs. On one of the other podcast episodes it was EPISODE 136 WITH Kellen Kautzman about using Philanthropy this goes beyond using this as a part of your marketing, it’s really creating an extension of yourself. I really want to talk about giving not just in the marketplace and not giving back. I'm sorry that's just one of my pet peeves I just really hate that word. Giving back And I'm really not a huge fan of being politically correct but when you talk about giving back is sorta makes me feel like I've stolen something, and I'm obligated to give back as some sort of act of doing wrong. I'm not obligated because I haven't stolen anything. See where I’m coming from. And now giving is another thing  I think that you know there are so many people that feel empty from their success and I'm not saying this is the main thing that will fulfill your emptiness because, for the most part, an emptiness is. Is a spiritual void but we can get into that another time, today we are just talking about giving and again and not giving back because you haven't stolen anything why should you feel guilty about giving back. I believe that there's a portion of each one of us that deep down inside there is that part that we want to give we really do when we don't know how to do it or what to do. You hear about people like Tony Robbins who feed thousands of people every year. And you think that is awesome. I’ll bet you, he started with one. You are saying, I wish I could do something like that, but I don’t have the money. I have a friend that he says man I would love to be a philanthropist and I go What's stopping you he says so I don't have any money. You have a dollar don’t you. You have time,   Here is a little secret I’m going to share with you Money Magnifies who you are. It all starts with a thought it gets placed into your yearly goals. On what you want to achieve. As I think about it really balances out who you are and who you want to become. I had a conversation with a real estate investor the other day and we were talking about this subject about giving and he picks up properties and sometimes they are full properties with clothes, furniture, dishes the whole works. For the past few years, he takes all the good stuff and packs it up and brings it to a place that gives this stuff away to people in the city who can use it. I asked why he did this and the answer that came back was, I could take and sell this stuff and make more money but in reality “it just makes me feel good it sort of makes me feel whole by thinking about others not just myself and my needs. That’s why I give it away.” I’m going to challenge you today as you contemplate your journey to success that you consider others in your goal plan and ad this portion to your goals. If you are already doing it awesome. If you have thought about or this is a new concept for you There is om much to gain it is actually unexplainable, the experience will knock your socks off.       Our sponsors Would you like your phone to ring more with qualified buyers people looking to buy now?
