Rachel Bilson and Melinda Clarke are joined by Michael Cassidy, who played Zach Stevens on The OC! The anti-Seth, Zach is both lovable and, as they all agree, so mature! This week they're discussing “The SnO.C.” (S2 Ep5) – remembering Zach's bad-boy-Yoo-hoo drinking moment. And, Alex makes them all question the importance of a kiss. Find out Michael's favorite scene, his worst memory on set, and what it was like kissing Rachel right in front of Adam Brody. Hear Melinda's theory on Ryan and Marissa, and what the three of them think on why Lindsay initially said no to the big dance! The Sn.O.C. Synopsis: The winter dance is near and a Ryan-Lindsay hook-up is off, on, off, on, off like a light switch. But all will be smoothed over by the time of the big Newport social event. Or not. Today is Sunday, June 4th, 2023 Carly and I are back with another new episode featuring a singer-songwriter Ryan Lindsay. But like always, I first want to encourage you to go check out our Patreon page if you haven't yet. Links can be found at thetroubadourpodcast.com, but you can also just go to patreon.com and search for The Troubadour Podcast there. Patreon is an awesome site where you can find all kinds of content creators, musicians, authors, artists, etc., who provide all types of content and entertainment for their fans, an easy way to support what they do. So go check it out! Today's guest, Ryan Lindsay, has had great success as a songwriter and storyteller having won several Country Music Alberta awards as well as having been a nominee for a Canadian Country Music Association award. Along with being a musician, Ryan is also a genuine outdoorsman having worked as a backcountry guide and growing up on the prairies of Canada. Due to extenuating circumstances…or put another way, due to my eldest son getting involved in a little scrap after school on the day this episode was recorded, I had to text Carly and let her know I was dealing with that little situation and she'd have to fly solo on this interview with Ryan. Which really is a bummer because I was excited to talk to Ryan about hunting, fishing and other outdoorsy things, along with his music of course…In any event, my son was dealt with, Carly pulled off the episode on her own, and here we are! So along with you, I'll be listening to this episode for the first time as well! Here comes Episode #175 of The Troubadour featuring our very own Carly Evan's visit with country singer and songwriter Ryan Lindsay.

This week in the Dojo, we met up with country music star, fellow Canadian... (and Albertan!, Ryan Lindsay ahead of his show on stage at the Calgary Stampede. Ryan gives us a sneak peak at the process behind an upcoming track, and how unlocking creativity can sometimes be just a road trip away. Of course, as we've talked about in previous episodes this season - it can be hard to create something and put it out for others. Ryan shares some of his experience, and how that second opinion has him ready to get moving with his next album. So - where do you go to find your creativity? Is it a car ride? a walk? laser tag? (is that still a thing?)Be sure to connect with us for more great content, and to extend the conversation:Website | Facebook | Instagram | LinkedIn | TwitterSupport the show
Leaving prison and trying to re-establish life in the community comes with an incredible set of challenges – housing, employment, family relationships – and under it all, recovering from the trauma of incarceration itself. Thousands of people were released from prison in Connecticut in 2020 as the Department of Corrections tried to stem a tide of COVID in its facilities. This episode we go inside the Hartford Re-entry Welcome Center, and Ryan Lindsay will introduce us to Antonio Rivera, who came home from prison during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020. John and Mercy speak with Iliana Pujols from the Connecticut Justice Alliance about her work with young people touched by the criminal justice system. Iliana is also a member of CT Mirror's Community Editorial Board. Organizations featured in this episode Community Partners in Action See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A little over 12 million adults think about suicide a year, a little over 3 million make a plan and a little over a million attempt suicide. Then about 600,000 people received medical attention and the number of people who died by suicide is around 46,000. So, at each ideation to action spectrum, we need something different, and we need responses that look different based on the imminence of risk in a moment. In today's episode, Dr. Erin Elmore is joined by Ryan Lindsay. Ryan is an associate professor of practice at Washington University in St. Louis at the Brown School, where he chairs, teaches, and advises the students within the mental health concentration in the Master of Social Work program. Ryan specializes in several evidence-based treatments and is currently a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist and expert in the application of Prolonged Exposure Therapy for complicated PTSD. His work also includes community-level intervention through his involvement in school-based suicide prevention and community-based suicide prevention efforts. Together Erin and Ryan discuss the unique perspective of social work training to look at individuals within the context of systemic access to resources and equity of access, the nuances of suicidality, gaps in our mental health training for risk assessment, and envisioning of new systems of suicide prevention. Back in The Before Times, I had a monthly advice show called Asking for a Friend at Sea Tea Comedy Theater in downtown Hartford, and in one part of the show, the house lights would come up and the audience members took the mic and talked about what was bothering them. From being annoyed about pumpkin spice, to frustrations with the healthcare industry, pollution, and racism, no gripe was too small or too vast to put words to. The segment was called “Y U SO SALTY”, and it's the inspiration for today's entire show. You'll hear audio from Asking for a Friend, and voicemails from adults and kids, and you'll hear what's gotten under the skin of some Connecticut Public employees, too. Plus, a philosopher on why anger is essential to anti-racist struggle. Episode Notes It’s been 3 years since we’ve opened our marriage up to other partners romantically, and it’s gone… pretty well! He’s had a few girlfriends, no one serious. And I’ve had a few wildly emotional connections with both genders (I identify as female). The woman I’ve been with for the past 6 months is really amazing! We suit each other so well. I can totally see her being a fixture in our lives for a long time, and so can she. But we’ve come to a fork in the road. We recently went out to dinner down the road from my house, and she grabbed my hand as we walked from the car - I froze! It’s a small town, and everybody knows everybody, and if anybody saw her do this… They’d think I was cheating on my husband, AND they’d know I was also into women… And I know, it’s just other people, who cares, right? Love is love is love is love and stuff. I may be able to come out as polyamorous if those townsfolk were the only ones in the equation, but my husband’s family is very, very religious. Telling them about our open marriage is 100% out of the question. She deserves to be with someone who will hold her hand in public. I want to hold her hand in public! But if I can’t ever be totally out with these other loves, why are we doing this in the first place? My husband’s family live many states away, so if I DID come out, I’d only have to hide it when they visit a couple of times a year. Where do I go from here? Is there a middle ground, or should I get off the field? THANKS SO MUCH to our audience, to our judges, and of course to our panelists, Will Rehm, Josh Marcus, and Ryan Lindsay, who won the Loofah of Truth that night!Asking for a Friend is a monthly advice show taped at Sea Tea Improv’s underground Comedy theater in downtown Hartford, Connecticut.https://www.facebook.com/askingforafriendwithChionWolf/What do you think? Ryan Lindsay was the first friend I made as we both earned our masters' degree in journalism from UC Berkeley. She, too, likes to use sports as window into the bigger picture. You can follow her on Twitter as @RLindsayReports We talk about her early days of rollerblading, representation in action sports, gun violence in America, and much more. During our conversation, we, unfortunately, picked up the sounds of gunfire in my neighborhood.
