DR. ELLIOTT JUSTIN,, MD, is the CEO and Founder of FirmTech, and an acclaimed expert in the rapidly evolving sextech and wearables industry, with a unique focus on the intersection of sexual and cardiac health.    Elliott offers invaluable insights into how recent innovations in sextech can improve their sexual health—and, by extension, their cardiac health—potentially saving their lives.   Driven by technological advancements and a growing emphasis on sexual wellness, the sextech market has exploded on a global scale in recent years. The wearables category has arguably seen the most interesting and compelling growth with products that do things like help alleviate pain during penetration, others use AI to map changes in the pelvic floor, and innovations like FirmTech's award-winning Tech Ring—the first smart intimacy wearable of its kind—enhances pleasure while improving cardiac health.   Dr. Justin's expertise extends far beyond the FirmTech brand. While the phrase "sexual technology" or "sex-tech" sounds super futuristic, it's kind of already here. People--mostly men--have been looking forward to futuristic sex since the 1970s, when the term virtual sex was created. But sex-tech is technology and tech-based ventures that are designed to enhance the human sexual experience. Sex-tech has seen a recent boom in mainstream acceptance due to a big push from WOMEN-led firms in the space--who knew, am I right? From tele-dildonics (yes, the name dildo is in it) which uses networked electronic sex toys to mimic and extend human sexual interaction to bluetooth-enabled smart sex wearables (that's right...a Fitbit for your clit)... sex-tech is ready to take your sexual health to the next level. But do we really need data on penile thrust velocity (yup, that's an option)? Or how hard we Kegel during the big O? I gotta be honest, not sure, but we're going through all the sex-tech talk we can in this episode. Use your bluetooth and tune in today!   Mixed & Edited by Next Day Podcast info@nextdaypodcast.com

In today's episode I spoke with Dr. Marianne Brandon, a clinical psychologist, sex therapist, and author. We spoke about Marianne's killer book Monogamy: The Untold Story. In the book, Marianne takes us through the most common challenges of monogamy - but says they're not inevitable! By understanding the usual ways in which sex drives in marriage get derailed - Marianne shows us how we can overcome these common pitfalls and keep the magic very much alive. We talked about the differences between men and women's sex drives, what men and women need in their relationship, and what couples can do to find a good balance. We spoke about the damaging effects of birth control pills on women's sex drive and how hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) can be a good solution for women who are particularly affected by perimenopausal symptoms. We spoke about how women often get dissociated from their bodies and how this can affect their sex lives. Marianne mentioned that yoga and brief meditations can make a big difference, helping women who feel disconnected from their bodies to re-attune to their bodily sensations. We also spoke about how some women still carry a lot of shame around sex because of messages they internalized in their earlier years. Marianne told us how she works with such women to release shameful feelings around sex and pleasure - especially when in the context of a loving, committed relationship. We spoke about the different forms of infidelity and the various, creative ways in which people cheat on each other. Marianne gave us the details on what she's seen - from gray areas like sexting, porn, and OnlyFans to more clear forms of cheating like hook-up apps for married people and full-blown affairs. We spoke about the beauty of monogamy and why humans are built for pair-bonding and attachment, even though monogamous relationships have their challenges. We gave our thoughts on why polyamory eventually ends in disaster - even with the best of intentions - and why Marianne considers polyamory a last resort. We finished by speaking about Marianne's Psychology Today blog 'The Future of Intimacy', where she shares helpful, practical advice for couples in the modern world. We dove into some of her most popular articles, where she talks about how modern couples can maintain a vital sex life, what to do if you're interested in sex - just not with your partner, and how advancements in sex tech - like VR porn and sex robots - are going to revolutionize the sexual marketplace.I hope you enjoy this episode. Selected - The Sesamers Podcast

HighlightsUnexpected BeginningsThe first of its kind: a social platform taking NSFW content to a whole new level, was originally conceived in entirely humble beginnings. Cindy shares how she didn't initially set out to create a business like MakeLoveNotPorn (MLNP). As a woman who dates younger men, over time she began to realize a common theme: people find it difficult to talk openly about sex and their expectations around it. Moreover: the lack of this communication has negative consequences on relationship. These expectations are developed, in part, by the consumption of sexual content that is typically not representative of real world sex: pornography, an industry notoriously designed for male-centered pleasure and a poor representation of reality in the bedroom.Cindy decided to take action, launching a tiny website in 2009 that would eventually become a global social phenomenon. Her journey, initially unintentional, took a turn when she realized the profound social impact she could make."When we don't talk openly and honestly about sex, porn becomes sex education by default, and not in a good way."Pioneering SexTech: Redefining an IndustryCindy shares how she is not just building a business; she's creating a whole new category— SexTech. By defining and championing SexTech, she paved the way for innovation and disruption in human sexual and intellectual experiences. Her efforts have turned SexTech into a recognized category, attracting investors who are now starting to understand its potential."I've spent the past 14 years parallel pathing two things: working to build MakeLoveNotPorn and working to change the business and cultural context around it."Listening to her detail her mission is nothing less than awe-inspiring. It is rare to meet a person whose conviction is contagious, and you can hear in her voice and attitude about MLNP that her success is inevitable. The Battle to Survive: MakeLoveNotPorn's ResilienceCindy shares her 14-year battle to keep MakeLoveNotPorn alive and thriving. Unlike most tech startups, her platform faces numerous challenges, including funding restrictions, banking issues, and advertising bans due to the stigma around adult content. According to Cindy, "The very fact MakeLoveNotPorn survives as a business after 10 years is extraordinary." She emphasizes the miracle of MakeLoveNotPorn's ten-year survival on just $3 million of funding, and rightfully so. With very little opportunity in mainstream advertising, and with anything adult-content related being flagged on social media, scaling MLNP is an obstacle that Cindy is determined to overcome.Securing Investment in a Challenging EnvironmentNot only is traditional advertising technology (AdTech) a barrier to marketing, but in the world of SexTech, finding investors who align with your vision is a unique challenge as well. Cindy explains that investors in this space often share a personal connection to the topic, making it challenging to target them effectively. She shares in detail her unconventional investor-finding strategy, using opportunities to speak at tech conferences worldwide to actively promote her mission. She recommends that founders willing to break barriers should start by speaking at events, applying to speak on their topics, and leveraging video content to build their reputation. In her words, "Put yourself out there all the time... you want the places that record speakers, put them online because you can then... attract people to go, 'Ooh, I love what they said. You know, I'd like some of that as well.'"The Future of MakeLoveNotPorn: Expanding HorizonsCindy's ambitious vision extends beyond MakeLoveNotPorn. She outlines three innovative products she aims to develop:First, MakeLoveNotPorn.academy, a comprehensive sex education platform for all ages, addressing the gap in quality sex education. Or, as Cindy puts it, the "Khan-academy" of SexEd.Second, Cindy shares about another first-of-its-kind product: Consensual, a secure sexting app designed to improve communication and consent in intimate relationships. She details the app in this episode, explaining how it is different to anything else on the market, designed with the user's privacy and consent at the heart of all NSWF interactions. Finally, "Here for the Ads," a revolutionary AdTech product that serves engaging ads people actively want to watch. As Cindy describes it, "These are ads for products designed to help us all in these most intimate areas we're we're all desperate for help with"Cindy Gallop's journey with MakeLoveNotPorn and her mission to redefine SexTech reveal the resilience and determination required to transform an industry. Her insights offer inspiration to founders facing unique challenges and a roadmap to success through innovation and perseverance. As the SexTech landscape evolves, we can expect to see MakeLoveNotPorn leading the way, revolutionizing how we think about and experience human intimacy. Creating an entirely new product category is not easy, and Cindy is an exemplary pioneer doing this exact work. Inspiring and motivating, her efforts are a fresh reminder to challenge the status quo. We'd do well to remember, as Cindy aptly puts it, when you want to build something that will change the world, you have to "Change the world to fit your vision, not the other way around."Find Cindy on:LinkedIn: cindygallopTwitter: @cindygallopInstagram: @cindygallop + @makelovenotpornSubstack: Dear CindyMedium: Make Love Not PornFind Ben on:LinkedIn: bcostantiniTwitter: @bencostantini

Ep 337: Sex Tech: A Comfortable Cock Ring that Helps Men Have Better Erections, Sex, & Orgasms with Dr. Elliot Justin. Can you imagine a cock ring that will not only help you maintain an erection, but will feel comfortable, give you better orgasms, and collect helpful information about your erections so doctors can help you have better sexual health and better overall health? It's not a pipe dream! It's real! And it already exists! I chatted with the CEO & Founder of FirmTech, Dr. Elliot Justin, MD, FACEP, and found out the amazing product his company has created that will not only improve men's quality of life (by paying full attention to their sexual health and not disregarding it) but also has the potential to improve their overall health. How? Men have about three erections during the night. How would you know? You are asleep. You can't! Unless you wake up. But this product can measure it for you and tell you after the fact. Other than for curiosity, Why is that important? Because it can point to other health problems, could help a doctor titrate a dosage for the optimal level for sexual and physical health, plus, help a person learn about their body and how to make the most of the penis (& body) they've got. It can also assess erection health during sex, meanwhile also keeping more blood in the penis (comfortably, not like stiff cock rings), and therefore lead to not only longer lasting erections, but also more intense, and heightened orgasms. They are also developing a similar product for women to assess nighttime/& during sex clitoral erections and collect helpful guiding data for women to have better overall health & sexual health/orgasms. This is epic and brilliant! This is basically a sex toy that also collects beneficial data about your own body for better sex and better health. App too... search FirmTech. Also, use it or lose it! Frequent masturbation & orgasms are essential for better sex and orgasms. I say this all the time on my podcast! Dr. Erkeda DeRouen talks to Arielle Egozi, an award-winning creative, strategist, and author. She is also a founding member of Women of SexTech. They talk about creating a safe space in healthcare for marginalized groups.  [00:39] Introducing Arielle Egozi [04:45] Feeling Judged from Healthcare Practitioners [10:05] Creating Safe Spaces for All Patients [18:52] What is Sex Tech? [24:17] What Arielle Would Change About Healthcare Judgment and Medical Gaslighting Arielle recalls an experience with her gynecologist. The physician asked about her sexual history, to which she responded by saying that she was not sexually active. Despite Arielle's honesty, her gynecologist kept on prodding her because she was unconvinced. Arielle felt as if her doctor had made certain assumptions about her which left her feeling ashamed. Instead of discrediting them, healthcare professionals should be empathetic to their patients because they are being vulnerable.  Why Healthcare Should Be a Safe Space for Everyone Physicians are putting patients at risk when they project their biases and beliefs onto them. Marginalized groups such as sex workers, LGBTQIA+, African Americans, and others may refuse proper treatment because they feel judged by healthcare practitioners. When we can make space for all kinds of people, everybody wins. Every patient deserves to be authentically who they are in the healthcare system. Physicians can become more culturally competent by being open to feedback and being compassionately curious about their patients. The Emerging Sex Tech Industry Sex Tech is a burgeoning field that seeks to educate and utilize sexual wellness. There are numerous applications ranging from sex toys, creative media, to AI and chatbots. What all of these have in common is that sex tech aims to understand pleasure not just for cisgender men, but for everyone. It seeks to destigmatize sexual experiences and promote diversity and inclusivity through new technology.  You can reach Arielle Egozi through her LinkedIn or Instagram.
