On this Hey, Mary Kay! edition of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe continue discussing the Browns' hiring of Todd Monken. They tackle the mixed reactions from the fan base, with Mary Kay making a strong case for the hire. She contrasts Monken's extensive, proven track record of offensive success in Baltimore and Tampa Bay with the high-risk nature of hiring a younger, less experienced candidate. The conversation also explores the significant fallout from the coaching change, including the uncertain future of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and how star player Myles Garrett might react to his potential departure. They discuss how Monken must navigate these delicate situations to unite the team. Finally, as a Pro Football Hall of Fame voter, Mary Kay provides a rare inside look into the controversial voting process that led to Bill Belichick not being a first-ballot inductee. She explains the complexities of the system, her disappointment in the outcome, and why she believes changes are necessary for the future. This week on Second Act Stories, we're featuring a series called "Rewriting the Playbook." This group of episodes features guests whose journeys share a common connection to sports, sometimes front and center, sometimes quietly shaping the path forward. In these conversations, the influence of competition, teamwork, and discipline shows up in different ways, informing career pivots and personal reinvention. Together, these stories explore how the lessons learned on the field can echo long after the final whistle, guiding second acts that are anything but predictable. Arrelious Benn was a star football player at Dunbar Senior High School (Washington, DC) and the University of Illinois. He entered the NFL draft after his junior year in college and was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His NFL career with Tampa Bay, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars spanned seven years, twice the league average. But it is also included two ACL tears, a fractured lumbar and a shattered collarbone. After his final season with the Jaguars, he and his family put down roots and decided to open Social House Coffee in the Avondale section of Jacksonville. Replacing a former gun store, his neighborhood shop is all about great coffee and building community. As Benn shares in the podcast, "Football consumed my life for so many years. But I know I only have one body. And I want to see my kids grow up and there are other things I want to do. It's a breath of fresh air to do something new and be creative." Benn is now working in what he calls "my first real job." He spends his days taking customers' orders, serving coffee/pastries and managing a staff of six. And he couldn't be happier. ******* If you enjoy Second Act Stories, please leave us a review here. We may read your review on a future episode! Subscribe to the Second Act stories Substack. January 21, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 82 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the morning press conference that the Buffalo Bills ownership and front office conducted and some of the jaw-dropping comments that we could not ignore. Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl will reportedly interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their general manager position, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that news early in this show. The Steelers have signed a few more free agent players to Reserve/Future contracts since our last episode, so Alex and I run through that list. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now hired former Steelers STC Danny Smith, so we make sure to give that bit of news some attention. We also discuss the possibility of S Miles Killebrew following Smith to Tampa Bay this coming offseason with him scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in March. With the Steelers' search for a new head coach now entering its second week, Alex and I discuss the latest concerning that topic. We go over the in-person meeting scheduled for this week with head coach candidates and whether the list of new prospects will grow any this week. Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger released a new episode of his podcast on Tuesday and that show produced several talking points. We go over Roethlisberger's support for Mike McCarthy to be the Steelers' next head coach and his thoughts on how he thinks the Steelers should handle their quarterback position in 2026 and possibly even 2027. Alex and I have a lengthy discussion about McCarthy potentially being the Steelers next head coach and the pros and cons related to that. We discuss McCarthy's age, how much longer he would likely coach, and whether either of us would be happy if he ultimately gets the job. With Roethlisberger talking about the future of the quarterback position during his recent podcast episode, Alex and I discuss the possibility of QB Will Howard being the starter in Pittsburgh in 2026. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers taking a hard look at Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis in free agency this offseason. I make my thoughts known on Howard ultimately being the quarterback the Steelers decide to roll with for at least the 2026 season. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward addressed the departure of HC Mike Tomlin during his recent podcast episode, so Alex and I make sure to recap things he said on that topic. We also address what former Steelers RB Najee Harris said about Tomlin during his appearance on a podcast. This 106-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we close things out by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are conducting a high-profile search for a new offensive coordinator after parting ways with Josh Grizzard following an 8–9 season and a missed playoff berth in 2025. Among the names they're exploring is Dan Pitcher, the Bengals' offensive coordinator, who is scheduled to interview with Tampa Bay this week. Pitcher, 39, has been on the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff since 2016, ascending from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach and then offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. Though he holds the OC title in Cincinnati, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor retains play-calling duties, which means Pitcher hasn't had an opportunity to call plays in regular-season games. Taylor has granted him permission to interview with teams offering play-calling offensive coordinator roles, making the Buccaneers' opening a potentially significant career move. The interview represents both an opportunity and a challenge. On paper, it could be seen as a lateral move in terms of job title, but for Pitcher it's a rare chance to step into a role where he would directly run the offense on game days — something he hasn't done in Cincinnati. His track record includes helping develop quarterback Joe Burrow into one of the NFL's premier passers, which is a major selling point for Tampa Bay as they look to revitalize an offense that underperformed in key areas last season. Tampa Bay's coaching search has been extensive, with interviews already held with several candidates including former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Ravens OC Todd Monken, and others. Pitcher adds another experienced offensive mind to that mix as the Buccaneers weigh their next steps. Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Track Name Holy (Trap). Segment 1 – News and Notes1.    The Dodgers made a splash by signing Kyle Tucker to the largest AAV in history – 4 years and $240 million with opt-outs after 2027 and 2028.8.a.    A lot of people are upset about the dominance of the Dodgers.  “They are ruining baseball!”  What say you?b.    Were you surprised that Tucker signed a shorter deal but for more money?c.    The odd thing is that he's not even the best player on the team, maybe not even the top 3 players on the team.d.    I don't see any playing time loss for anyone with the exception of a potential delay in the arrival of Josue DePaula or Zyhir Hope.  Do you see anything?2.    The Mets were spurned by Tucker and pivoted to Bo Bichette, signing him to a massive three-year, $126 million deal with a unique opt-out clause.  He can opt out after each year, and if he does, the Mets have to pay him a $5 million bonus. a.    $42 million a year for Bichette?  Thoughts on the signing?b.    He'll likely play third base.  Who sits out of Baty or Vientos?c.    Also, I think Jett Williams needs to learn the outfield, plus, with the Mets not getting Tucker, Benge is still safe – for now.  Thoughts?3.    A small but interesting, three-way trade was pulled off by the Angles, Rays and Reds.  The Rays sent Josh Lowe to the Angels and Gavin Lux to the Rays, with the Reds acting as the intermediary. The Angels shipped RHP Chris Clark to Tampa Bay and LHP Brock Burke to Cincinnati.a.    Who's value goes up more?  Lowe, Lux, or neither?b.    Does this open a chance for Jacob Melton in Tampa?c.    Will Lux ever be more than an afterthought?Segment 2 – Third Base Rankings for the 2026 Season1.    How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts?2.    We will break down the top 15 to 20 in detail.  Then, go through 20 to 30 in less detail.  We will end by jumping around the remaining ranked players.3.    Which player not in the Top 10 has a chance to emerge there next season?4.    Which Top 10 player will not be there next season?5.    Give me a couple of sleepers6.    Give me one, maybe two guys you are just going to avoid drafting?

Brayden Point’s apparent leg injury has cast doubt over his Olympic availability with just a month to go, forcing Hockey Canada to game-plan potential replacements which will apparently be decided primarily by filling the same role as Point and there is an elite list of candidates. The Toronto Maple Leafs are surging with points in 10 straight, punctuated by an OT win in Colorado that snapped the Avs’ 17-game home win streak. The Eastern Conference is beginning to separate as hot streaks by Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Buffalo contrast sharply with the spiraling New York Rangers, whose brutal 10–2 loss underscored league-worst defensive play and looming roster uncertainty even for players with no-trade clauses. Coaching turmoil hit Columbus as the Columbus Blue Jackets fired Dean Evason after just 45 games and brought Rick Bowness out of retirement to stabilize a team undone by goaltending and late-game collapses, while the New Jersey Devils briefly quieted the noise by snapping a five-game skid with a road win in Minnesota amid ongoing debate over roster moves. Finally, renewed criticism of the NHL playoff format gained traction after Chris Mason highlighted how Western contenders are forced to eliminate each other early, a structure Ray argues undermines the regular season despite the league’s continued support of division-based seeding.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
