The future is inclusive. And to build that, we need the present to consider it. How many of us have a person from the queer community as colleagues? Maybe the media sector has more people as it is comparatively quite inclusive but then again policies rarely include them. Introducing a third check box in the gender section is not enough, and just having a PR exercise or rainbow-ing the logos in Pride month is just show-off. To talk about all this and more, we had Sonica Aron, Managing Partner at Marching Sheep- an HR Consultancy that helps businesses be more inclusive. We cover important issues- to begin with- identifying the lack of diversity, to training staff to be more more accommodating and understanding of the queer folks, implementing policies and including them in existing policies, etc. We also discuss inclusion with reference to persons with disability, special needs, learning disabilities, etc as well. He is currently pursuing writing, and until now, has published a book in the poetry genre titled Music To My Poetry. He likes to believe that as human beings, we are all an integral part of a rainbow which has such a relatable symbolism — we are all a shade of colour; and when we come together, we become that beautiful band that stands for “unity in diversity.”Chris Fernandes is the CEO & Founder of Goa Rainbow Trust. They are 39 years old and identify as a trans man residing in Mapusa. They did a diploma in the hotel industry and then nursing too. They love music, nature and animals. We often talk about representation and pop culture. One major contribution that works behind the scenes here is that of the casting department. Them deciding to look for queer actors, actually considering them for the role, training them and respectfully treating them throughout the process. In India, casting has been known in a not so good light but the scenario is changing. To shed more light on this, we invited one of the top casting directors of India- Kavish Sinha. He owns an agency named On My Kayroll and has credits in works like The Office India, Laakhon Mein Ek, Apharan, Kaafir, Hasmukh, Undekhi, Out Of Love, etc.He talks to hosts Farhad & Sunetro about his journey into casting, an actor's life, the casting process, typecasting, the struggles of aspiring actors, and a lot more. You can follow Kavish on Instagram:@kavishsinha | @onmyayroll You can follow Farhad on his Instagram handle: @theqr8rYou can follow Sunetro on his Instagram handle: @glitterbuggedYou can listen to this show and other awesome shows on the IVM Podcasts app on Android: IVM Podcasts - Apps on Google Play or iOS: IVM Podcasts, or any other podcast app.You can check out our website at https://shows.ivmpodcasts.com/featured

One of the main reasons why we get through most things in life is our little circle of friends and well-wishers, and therapists. Some, whom we talk to every day, some who check on us occasionally, and some whom we might not speak to regularly but when we do, it is like we have been together forever. They empower us, accept us the way we are, let us be the way we are, support us in endeavors, and their presence just makes life better. Our hosts Farhad & Sunetro talk about some of their best people- friends, family, well-wishers; company to pop champagne with when it's a joyful time and a dependable entity to rest the head upon when things got tough. It is said that art comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comfortable. And we are so used to seeing photoshopped faces and bodies, and that has disturbed the idea of perfect for us so we feel uncomfortable in our own skin, always chasing that prescribed idea of perfect. In order to bust this myth and take a step towards empowerment via photography, Raqeeb Raza- an artist wearing many hats including photographer, researcher, reporter, writer, scholar-takes us through his journey of finding art in the real, unfiltered, normal faces and bodies. He talks about shedding the self-conscious feeling and feeling like art with whatever accessories we might be blessed with-abs, flabs, dimples, pimples, jawline, double chin, etc. Hosts Farhad & Sunetro also discuss with him the censorship issues across social media platforms and Raqeeb highlights some of the biases that companies have while taking down/ retaining reported posts. Reel life is inspired by real life. But then why is there so much discrepancy in queer representation? Butch female characters for lesbians, effeminate male characters for gays- how inaccurate is that! And why are they given stories that revolve around their 'queerness' and not around the person they are or their other traits? And why almost always do they have unhappy endings? And what are some of the best examples of representation? (btw, Schitt's Creek is a major favorite!) To talk about all this and more, we have Sulagna Chatterji- writer and film-maker, someone who has been in the creator circle for enough time to understand how queer stories are looked at by fellow people in the industry. Tune in as she shares her experiences with Farhad & Sunetro. Hola! It's that time of the year when companies share rainbow-themed social media posts, merchandise, and newsletters because it's Pride Month! But for us, it is that time of the year when we accept ourselves and hug our identity all the more and feel proud about it. It is that time of the year when people of the community come together in solidarity to share the joys and sorrows. This week, as we flag off the pride month 2021, we have on board Ashish Chopra- a queer entrepreneur with an online showroom named Beunic where they sell shirts, shoes, and it also is a space for fellow entrepreneurs to showcase their stuff and put them up on sale. Farhad & Sunetro discuss Pride Consumerism, the campaigns- good, bad & ugly; representation of the community in the marketing space, their favorite Queer artists, stuff we love, stuff we hate, exclusivity and inclusivity, and how they deserve to be the story and not the twist in the story. The dictionary meaning of Homophobia is the dislike of or prejudice against gay people. But here, the buck doesn't stop there. It is discrimination, hatred, lack of empathy, a third-grade treatment, and not accepting them as belonging to the same species. In a time and age where the good and the bad are called out and highlighted, it takes the form of casual teasing, and most of the time it is downright disrespectful. And Farhad & Sunetro are here to talk about it. They share experiences from their personal lives when it all started right from school (which implies the importance of education and empathy right from the tender ages) to now when they are adults navigating a more informed world, that still hasn't fully included them in crucial policies and laws btw. Dating, something we have spoken about before, and yet there are so many dimensions to it, obviously- it's the apparent pursuit of love and that can never be easy. Our hosts are back with another very relatable topic. And so, so relevant in the present times. Commitment- the act of belonging to someone completely, and the issues that come with it. Some are scared to commit, some want to explore and not be with one person. Some might not be scared to commit but an uncertain future might be a deterrent. Committing but not being able to take it forward in a society-approved manner (read: Marriage)- how is that affecting relationships? And what about partners being in love but having different plans in life? All this and more in this episode. When Money is not being converted into dresses or food, it is chilling in the bank account. And just like humans, money doing nothing will make it dormant. So we have ways to make the money work for ourselves- via investments, insurances, funds, bonds, and whatnot. Now, our hosts aren't experts on the subject matter but they do have an important underlying message for all of us- that saving is necessary. Whether you save for a rainy day metaphorically or to witness a beautiful rainy day in Costa Rica/Hawaii for real; putting aside a part of your earning is always beneficial. Some of us, like Farhad, are scared to go to the bank. Some of us, like Sunetro, have a plan in place. And it's all okay as long as you seek help and figure out ways to manage money. These days, we are out of answers for 'How are you?' or 'How's it going? Making new connections IRL or on social media is backed by a major factor of loneliness. While it is good that people are there for each other, but don't we often run out of topics to talk about that go beyond discussing 'the new normal' or the apathy of the government or sharing pet pictures. Why does this happen? When it comes to making new connections, does a feeling of uncertainty creep up- will we meet, is there a future? Are romantic prospects all about sharing life in the first 2 weeks and fading out to seeing each others Instagram stories and occasionally reacting to them? Well, it's another year, another lockdown and Farhad & Sunetro talk about Quarantine Connections and how to sustain them. On TickTalk, they discuss the latest on 'Drag Race' and on SmallTalk, Sunetro expresses his appreciation for the simple but delicious combo of 'Chutney & Papad', while Farhad is gushing over the 'Chocolate & Salt' combination.
