In this episode of the Everything EV podcast, brought to you by EV Powered. Hosts Matt Allan and Richard Alvin dive into the latest trends, challenges, and developments in the electric vehicle industry, delivering insights you won't want to miss. In this week's episode, the focus shifts to some lesser-discussed but equally important aspects of the EV world. Mazda makes headlines with its quiet but impactful return to the EV market with the upcoming launch of the electric version of the Mazda 6 in Europe. Will this new model help Mazda atone for its less-than-stellar first EV attempt?  The hosts also explore fascinating new data from Epixie, revealing that after three years, EVs cost 45% less in servicing, maintenance, and repair compared to petrol or diesel cars. This data finally provides concrete evidence supporting the long-held belief that EVs are more economical to run in the long term. The episode also highlights the arrival of new, affordable electric vehicles from Chinese manufacturers like Dongfeng, which are expected to shake up the European market. With models like the Nami Box super mini offering budget-friendly options, will these newcomers fill the gap in the market for small, urban-focused EVs? Matt and Richard don't shy away from controversial topics either. They critically analyse a recent Harry's Garage video by automotive expert Harry Metcalfe, challenging some of his views on the ZEV mandate and public charging costs. Are EVs really as expensive and impractical as some critics claim, or is there more to the story? The episode wraps up with an intriguing discussion with Osman Boyner, CEO of Bedeo, who shares his insights on in-wheel technology and how it could revolutionize the future of EVs. The number of electric vehicles sold in North America is only going up, which has led many a tire dealer wondering how the characteristics of these vehicles will affect tires. EVs have heavy batteries and instant torque, which creates a perfect storm for these vehicles to eat up tires. However, that's not always the case, and tire manufacturers today are evaluating their current tire lines and working on strategies for how to address this vehicle segment. In this episode of What's Treading with Tire Review, presented by AAPEX, I wanted to share an interview I did for our EV sister publication, The Buzz, on its podcast, "The Amped EV Podcast." Myself and the Tire Review team have interviewed tire manufacturers over the last few years asking about their strategies for addressing the unique characteristics of EVS in their product lines. In this podcast, myself and David Sickels, editor of The Buzz and senior editor for Tire Review, look to answer some burning questions about tires for EVs, delve into examples of how different tiremakers are addressing this vehicle segment and give you some actionable answers as to how your shop can prepare to see more EVs in your bays down the line.EPISODE OVERVIEW:How different tire makers are approaching the EV segment (0:44);If the EV designation or dedicated EV tire lines are actually needed (5:20);Are EVs good or bad for a tire dealer's business? This week, Daniel Garrett submitted our topic: Are EVs the true driver's test? Or, are they just a trendy fad? Our answer lies somewhere in between. What if instead of a trend, the answer is simple: a stopgap. Maybe EVs are just a trendy holdover until something more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly comes along. And while there's no doubt all of us will have to adjust to this brave new car world... maybe what's to come includes a resurgence of gas powered vehicles (this time with renewable fuel). Or, maybe it's new hybrids or hydrogen-powered vehicles we're driving around. Or maybe, we're not even driving at all!But before all of that, we get distracted by the futuristic rabbit hole that is Elon Musk. His latest endeavors seem to grow ever more head scratching. Why is it that the man who once said AI would be the downfall of human existence...is now working on a humanoid AI, with prototypes due later this year! What does the world stand to gain from this technology? Why is there an arms race toward this brave new future? And why is it so important that Elon Musk wants to keep these AI from talking to each other? There's a whole lot to discuss, and we get into all of it!Follow us:FacebookInstagramYouTubeOfficial WebsiteEmail us: TheCatchupCast@Gmail.comSupport the show

I don't know what it is with Electric Vehicles but everyone has their own opinions on the future of its impact. My poll on LinkedIn asked people if they would purchase an Electric Car and to my surprise, more than half of the people who commented were quick to reject it. Of course people are entitled to their own opinions, however, when pondering upon the question of, “Are EVs the Future OR the End”, we should take it for what it is and adapt to the changes. I believe that it is now the time to pose questions about: -How are people in apartments going to charge their vehicles? -How can we make navigating to charging stations easy for drivers? -How should we approach this overall problem with lack of infrastructure? I really enjoyed reading all your comments about electric cars and it makes me so happy that Service Drive Revolution is back in action!
