Sometimes it's hard to see past the behaviors and into the heart of what's really going on with your child. But once you discover this powerful parenting tool, your journey transforms!  We get it. Trust us on this one. In our 20+ years of parenting, and parenting children with a trauma history, and special needs, the struggle has been real. We did a lot of things wrong in our parenting in the early days. One of those 'things' was often viewing behavior as simply 'bad behavior' from a child who just wanted to be bad, and not as a voice trying to tell us something deeper.  When we discovered that behavior was actually a windown into a much bigger story of what had happened to our children, and what was happening with our children, our perspective changed. We now how the parenting tools to frame their behavior in the correct context. And that, in turn, helped us replace contempt with compassion.  In this episode, we dive into that transformation and share a big update on an upcoming live event we are hosting that will help you gain the same tools that changed everything for us. Keep reading.  Join The Trauma Knowledge Transformation Workshop, LIVE this coming week! Beginning Monday, June 19th we are kicking off our FREE 3-Part Live workshop that will help you gain a new perspective on your child's trauma, behaviors, and needs. For the past two years, I have been part of a course of study called creating a culture of renewal. CCR provides church leaders with insights into their own leadership styles, skills for making church conflict productive, and encourages us to dream like Jesus to claim Jesus' vision for ourselves and for our congregation's life and ministries. These past two years, I have met each month with a mentor, a person who is year ahead of me in the program, with a buddy, a clergy person here in Virginia who is in the same track as I am, and with my Virginia cohort of 8 other United Methodist clergy who are learning alongside me. Our work with creating a culture of renewal is led by Rev. Rebekah Simon-Peter, a United Methodist clergyperson who does this training full-time now. I'm learning a great deal and am eager to share with Peakland one of the many books Rebekah has written for congregations. Beginning Monday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. here at Peakland, I'll be leading a discussion on one of Rebekah's latest books: Forging a new path – moving the church forward in a post-pandemic world. Now that Peakland and all churches are coming out of covid, we find the world has changed around us and the ways we do church needs to adapt. Peakland has done an outstanding job creating online worship and online videos like this one to reach folks who can't get to the church building, but how else do we as a congregation need to adapt to a post-covid world. Rebekah names for us some realities of the world around us. Fewer and fewer folks identify as religious or attend worship regularly. Just as many folks prefer working online at home professionally, many folks prefer online worship to in person worship. How can we in the church best respond to these new realities. This book asks some demanding questions for our post-covid world: If we have fewer folks in church on Sundays, how do reach people where they are? How can we embody our faith in Christ to others outside the church? What can our church thrive and grow? I'm eager to read this book with you. Again, I'll lead a book discussion group in person at the church beginning Monday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. If you'd like a copy of the book and participate in the in-person group, follow the link in the description below. I'll also offer some insights of this books each week here online for the Wednesdays in May I'm now 10 months into my pastoral ministry here at Peakland. We are already forging a new path together, and Christ is giving us great opportunities to live our vision of reaching out, serving all, and extending God's table.

If your moon is in Aries, Taurus or Gemini you are having a moon birthday this week! Major Themes This week We are post super full moon in Aquarius where the energy/light is starting to disseminate from the moon. This week is the time to Analyse and Reflect on all that came to light under the full moon. It's a good week to balance your bank statements, do your tax, review your budget, look at patterns in your home & relationships and practice gratitude for all that you've received this moon cycle. The Moon starts this week in Aries, at the beginning of the zodiac so this is a great reset point. If you've been feeling a little washed out or like life has been all over the place, it is a great opportunity to hit the reset button and realise new beginnings are available to you here this week. This week we have two major trines. A trine in astrology is a harmonious aspect and is generally considered the most favourable aspect in articulating astrology. It can bring luck, harmony, major synchronicity, and potential for positive changes. This week has the potential to be awesome. WEEKLY ASPECTS Monday 15 August - Moon in Aries Moon Day. You don't need to do too much today. Make a to do list of the things you'd like to reflect / analyse / balance this moon cycle. Tuesday 16 August - Moon in Aries Mars Day. Make a start on your to do list! There's a lot of fire today with Aries and Mars so make the most to get on with the things you might not be particularly fond of. Wednesday - 17 August Moon in Taurus Mercury Day is everything communication and today with Mercury trining Uranus this gives wind to creative thinking and problem solving from an angel you wouldn't usually take. The groundedness of Taurus will keep you emotionally balanced today so your imagination can go a little wild. Enjoy it! Thursday - 18 August Moon in Taurus Jupiter day there is a second awesome trine occurring with Venus trine Jupiter. Venus, the planet of love, romance, sensuality and pleasure is currently in the playful, nobel and courageous Leo (fire sign) and Jupiter, the planet of expansion is in Aries (fire sign) opening up a divine portal where you can connect to your intuition, creativity and all things love and relationships. Allow the energy of this day to grow all week and really make the most of this time and enjoy it! Friday - 19 August Full Moon in Gemini On Venus day the moon will be in Taurus in the morning and then moves into Gemini later in the day. Enjoy the pleasure of Taurus and Venus and take your life / business / self out on a coffee date. Towards the evening when the moon moves into Gemini your inner world can start to be come ungrounded and slightly bipolar. Saturday & Sunday - 20 + 21 August Moon in Gemini Saturn Day + Sun Day - the Moon stays in Gemini all weekend and the energy has the potential to be polarising and unstable. It can also be imaginative and quite social so a really great time to slow things down and be with people you love and trust. Try and avoid conflicting points of view where things can become heated and unsteady where you might regret saying things you don't mean. Plan some day trips into nature, avoid big crowds. Gemini is an air sign and very 'mental' so earthing in a rainforest or on the beach with people you love to be around would be amazing. You can potentially have some awesome conversations, so long as you're not attached to the outcome and are just there for the experience. Have an awesome weekend xx JOIN US LIVE You can watch the Moon Diaries live with us every week in our Facebook group 13 Moons - The Gathering.

TESLAS TOP WORLDWIDE EV GOOGLE SEARCHES FOLLOWED BY THE VW GROUP - Based on the amount of news coverage it receives and the fervor of its fans, it's not surprising that Tesla tops the charts in terms of global Google searches for electric vehicles. Its four models are also the four most searched electric vehicles on Earth. - The Tesla Model 3 is the most-Googled electric vehicle on Earth, appearing in searches 2,240,000 times per month, followed by the Model S, Model Y and Model X. - The most-searched non-Tesla model is the Audi e-tron, which was Googled more than a million times per month in 2021, as was the Porsche Taycan, and they were followed by the Volkswagen ID.4 (823,000), which must please the Volkswagen Group. - In the U.S., meanwhile, the cars with the fastest-growing interest are the Volvo XC40 Recharge, which received 221,900 percent more searches in 2021 than it did in 2020; the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which got 12,442 percent more; and the Volkswagen ID.4, whose searches increased by 5,483 percent. The move by Tesla covers those who own Tesla vehicles and also other electric vehicle brands. - “Beginning Monday, we are temporarily enabling free Supercharging for both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles at sites in areas impacted by the recent situation in Ukraine,” an email from the electric vehicle company said. “We hope that this helps give you the peace of mind to get to a safe location.” - Tesla has previously offered free electric vehicle charging for areas affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes in the U.S. This marks the first case of Tesla providing free charging due to a war or political crisis. - This is also the first time that Tesla has offered free charging at its Supercharger locations for non-Tesla vehicle owners. The move coincides with Tesla opening up its Supercharger locations for non-Tesla owners across several European countries. Used vehicles outnumbered new ones seven to one. - Ukraine now has about 30,000 electric vehicles on the roads. The number of newly-registered ones has been growing each year since 2016. - Still, electric cars occupy a very modest share of the Ukrainian market. A total of 104,000 new cars were registered in the country in 2021. Only 1% of those were electric. - Every fourth electric car registered in the country in 2021 was a Leaf. - Used car prices for Nissan's bestseller ranged from $9,500 for 2014 models to $28,000 for 2020 models. New Leafs, which start at $32,000, are beyond the price range for many Ukrainians, whose average monthly salary was $530 in December 2021. - Ukrainians' other top choices in 2021 included the Tesla Model 3 (827 registered) and Chevrolet Bolt (762 registered). The above three models are responsible for almost 55% of the country's electric car market. It required not just endless hours in the garage/basement but almost as many flying to the U.S., Japan and Germany to purchase specialized car parts. - Not only does Yu have an electric Rolls-Royce, he also has a brand new business. Yu said he decided to use what he learned over the past four years to open a shop, Mars Power, in north Richmond where he plans to convert other vehicles from gasoline to electric. - To convert his RR, he had to sell his house to help pay for the project. That didn't sit well with his wife, who got so fed up with his project she left him, Yu explained. - Yu said his newly converted electric Rolls-Royce can run for 500 kilometers on a full charge, adding that it only costs him $8 in electricity to charge the battery compared with $120 to fill his tank with gasoline. - He found a small team of mechanics and machinists to help him and together they worked on the project almost every day. It's that team he's now employed at his new shop. The other Rosneft director nominated by bp, former bp group chief executive Bob Dudley, is similarly resigning from the board. - Like so many, I have been deeply shocked and saddened by the situation unfolding in Ukraine and my heart goes out to everyone affected. It has caused us to fundamentally rethink bp's position with Rosneft. I am convinced that the decisions we have taken as a board are not only the right thing to do, but are also in the long-term interests of bp. Our immediate priority is caring for our great people in the region and we will do our utmost to support them. We are also looking at how bp can support the wider humanitarian effort. In total, 200 Class 8 BYD 8TT battery-electric day cab trucks to be deployed over the course of the coming twelve months starting in February. - BYD 8TT will be equipped with a 563 kWh battery (LFP) and offer a range of up to 200 miles. Fast charging power peaks at 185 kW (CCS1 connector). Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/569807/byd-electric-truck-order-einride/ GOOGLE MAPS IS HELPING BATTLE ELECTRIC VEHICLE RANGE ANXIETY - Navigation software, such as Google Maps and infotainment systems in cars, are one of the quickest ways to ease range anxiety felt by drivers. In a recent study conducted by HERE, the navigation experts found that drivers consider such software a must-have tool in their electric vehicle. - HERE describes how applications that provide charging location information and real-time station data help increase the adoption of electric vehicles, especially as they now offer a more integrated experience. While HERE itself already offers an advanced pack of solutions aimed specifically at EV drivers, the entire industry is actually investing on this front. - Taking the experience one step further, vehicles equipped with Android Automotive, such as Volvos and Polestars, run Google Maps as the native navigation app. Now, thanks to deeper integration with the car's battery systems, it can monitor the current range and provide options to reach the destination more conveniently. Original Source : https://www.t3.com/us/news/google-maps-is-helping-battle-electric-vehicle-range-anxiety THIS EV-CONVERTED PORSCHE 912 FUTURE-PROOFS A 1960S CLASSIC - Ian James Corlett is a self-described Porsche enthusiast, having owned a string of 911s. It's why he selected a 912 as the basis of his project, figuring a more prosaic four-cylinder Porsche would be a less heretical subject for conversion from internal combustion to electric power. - A light-switch-reactive 120 pound-feet of electric torque makes Corlett's battery-powered 912 as easy to drive as a modern EV. A blend of 911 and Boxster suspension and brake components improves the performance envelope further. The dogleg five-speed manual transmission is retained - Power is up to 118 horsepower and is far more accessible than with a combustion engine. Further, the car is still light, with a curb weight equivalent to a fully fueled, six-cylinder 911 of the same period. - Eventually, Corlett crossed paths with the experts at EV West, who reworked the conversion and polished it for reliability. Corlett refers to this version as his 2.0 build. Its front-mounted 25-kWh battery pack gives slightly more than 100 miles of range, ideal for a Sunday morning cruise. Original Source : https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a39211023/porsche-912-ev-conversion/ PLUG IN YOUR CAR … BUT ONLY BRITAIN'S RICHER MOTORISTS CAN CHARGE UP CHEAPLY - Almost 10 million households in England and Wales risk missing out on savings of £950 a year that come from owning an electric car, according to a study warning that richer households stand to benefit most. - About a third of households have no access to off-street parking or a personal garage, so will miss out on lower costs from charging the cars using cheaper overnight electricity. - The findings emerge in a forthcoming study by the Resolution Foundation thinktank examining Britain's plans for achieving net zero emissions and the impact on living standards. The switch to electric vehicles has the potential to cut fuel costs, but it reveals the barriers that remain in ensuring everyone can access them. - Even public charging points cost about 25% less than the average cost of filling a petrol car at the pumps. However, the type of home someone has will impact on the costs of charging. “Unless addressed, these stark cost differences risk creating a ‘charging divide' – with the bulk of savings risk being accrued by richer households, which risks widening inequality,” the report concludes. - Jonny Marshall, senior economist at the Resolution Foundation, called on ministers to prioritise reducing the cost of public charging and encourage the installation of home charging points in rented accommodation. This is Stephen Schmidt from the Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Tuesday, Jan. 26. Our gentle blizzard will continue into Tuesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, the snow that began in the Cedar Rapids area around 2:00 p.m. Monday and continued overnight will only completely abate around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The high is expected to be 24 degrees, and as one expects when more than a half of foot of new snow falls, blowing snow will be a concern. Exercise caution when traveling through Tuesday evening, when thankfully it will be mostly calm with a low of around 12 degrees. The Iowa State Patrol reported that through the storm on Monday there were 68 crashes covered on Iowa highways, 66 with property damage and 2 with personal injury. There were also 215 calls for motorist assists for the state patrol alone. Linn County residents aged 65 and older can begin receiving a COVID-19 vaccine on a limited basis starting Tuesday, county public health officials announced. Residents interested in getting a shot will have to schedule an appointment — but because availability of the vaccine is very limited at this time, officials warn those appointments will fill up quickly. Beginning Monday, residents who qualify were expected to be contacted by their primary care provider to schedule an appointment to receive the first shot of the vaccine for the novel coronavirus. Providers who will administer these shots include those associated with MercyCare Clinics and UnityPoint Health Clinics as well as “several independent health care providers.” It's unknown when Johnson County will begin administering vaccines to this group. County public health officials told The Gazette that the public should expect information from them sometime this week. Republican lawmakers who control the Iowa Legislature pressed ahead Monday with plans to expand school choice for parents with public funds for private and charter schools and with requiring K-12 schools to offer an in-person instruction option as the state struggles through the pandemic. The measures would enact the full-time, in-person required option in February for the remainder of the school year and, according to an Iowa State Education Association estimate, start the process of funding a $50 million first step in a plan to earmark taxpayer money for students' private-school tuition. The governor's office projects the initial cost at about $3 million. Critics said the bill would siphon away taxpayer money meant to improve education for nearly 500,000 children to benefit a small fraction taking advantage of the limited scholarships to attend private or charter schools — with little public oversight.  This briefing is sponsored in part by Corridor Careers. The Weekend Collective
Barry Richard on Donald Trump's chances at overturning US election result

The Weekend Collective

President Donald Trump has repeatedly said there's one place he wants to determine the outcome of the presidential election: the U.S. Supreme Court. But he may have a difficult time ever getting there. The Associated Press called the presidential race for Joe Biden on Saturday morning. Trump, however, has over the last few days leaned in to the idea that the high court should get involved in the election as it did in 2000, and there were no signs Saturday he was ready to concede."Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated," Trump said in a statement. In 2000, the Supreme Court effectively settled the contested election for President George W. Bush in a 5-4 decision that split the court's liberals and conservatives. Today, six members of the court are conservatives, including three nominated by Trump. But this year's election seems to be shaping up very differently from 2000, when Florida's electoral votes delivered the presidency to Bush. Then, Bush led in Florida and went to court to stop a recount. Trump has suggested a strategy that would focus on multiple states where the winning margins appear to be slim. But to overturn the election result, Trump would appear to have to persuade courts, including perhaps the Supreme Court to set aside votes in two or more states.Chief Justice John Roberts, for his part, is not likely to want the election to come down to himself and his colleagues. Roberts, who was not on the court for Bush v. Gore in 2000 but was a lawyer for Bush, has often tried to distance the court from the political branches of government and the politics he thinks could hurt the court's reputation. It's also not clear what legal issues might cause the justices to step in. Trump has made repeated, unsubstantiated claims of election fraud. On Saturday, Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani pressed claims that so-called poll watchers, who observe as ballots are counted, were not allowed to get close enough to witness counting.Still, Trump has focused on the high court. In the early morning hours following Election Day he said: "We'll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court — we want all voting to stop." And on Thursday, as Biden inched closer to the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House, Trump again told Americans, "It's going to end up, perhaps, at the highest court in the land, we'll see." On Twitter too he urged, "U.S. Supreme Court should decide!"There is currently one election case at the Supreme Court and it involves a Republican appeal to exclude ballots that arrived after Election Day in Pennsylvania. But whether or not those ballots ultimately are counted seems irrelevant.Ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day were a small fragment of the total vote count. Across Pennsylvania, counties reported receiving under 8,000 late mail-in ballots, though some were still assessing how many they had. Biden's lead over Trump by Saturday afternoon was more than 30,000 votes.Still, Trump's campaign is trying to intervene in the case, an appeal of a decision by Pennsylvania's highest court to allow three extra days for the receipt and counting of mailed ballots. Because the case is ongoing, those ballots are being separated but counted.Beyond the Pennsylvania case, if Trump wanted to use a lawsuit to challenge the election outcome in a state, he'd need to begin by bringing a case in a lower court. So far, Trump's campaign and Republicans have mounted legal challenges in several states, but most are small-scale lawsuits that do not appear to affect many votes. On Thursday, the Trump campaign won an appellate ruling to get party and campaign observers closer to election workers who are processing mail-in ballots in Philadelphia. But judges in Georgia and Michigan quickly dismissed two other campaign lawsuits Thursday.Biden's campaign, meanwhile, has called the existing lawsuits meritless, more po...

Support today comes from Soul House Love, Charlottesville's Guide to Alternative Wellness. This Friday, Soul House Love is taking reservations for a New Moon Ceremony in a gorgeous outdoor location, with powerful guided meditations to cleanse your energy. Visit soulhouselove.com for more information and to reserve your spot.*There are more positive cases reported from the Fluvanna Women’s Correctional Facility today and the first cluster of cases has been reported at the University of Virginia. Of the 84 new cases reported in the Thomas Jefferson Health District today, 48 of those in Fluvanna County. Yesterday there were 41 new cases in Fluvanna. Testing has been conducted at the women’s prison this week, including all inmates and staff.  “The facility will conduct internal contact tracing for the women in the facility,” said Kathryn Goodman, spokeswoman for the TJHD. “Once the contact tracing on the inmates are completed, they share the information with TJHD. It would be a challenge for us to speak with the inmates so this is the best practice for these types of facilities. TJHD will conduct the contact tracing on staff as we do with any other cases.”There has been another COVID-19 death in Albemarle, for a total of 20 in the county and 63 in the district. There were 26 cases reported in Charlottesville. The Cavalier Daily reports there is an outbreak at a University of Virginia residence hall with testing revealing that five students tested positive. The 188 students in the Balz-Dobie dormitory have been told to quarantine while waiting for the results of tests that were conducted last night. It is unclear whether these cases are captured in the COVID-19 tracker, which was updated yesterday to add another five cases for a total of 378 total positive cases since August 17. The outbreak was also detected through monitoring of wastewater.  The Virginia Department of Health is reporting another 1,101 cases of COVID-19 today, and another 36 deaths. The higher-than-usual death rate stems from a data backlog according to officials. The statewide seven-day average for positive tests is at 6.7 percent today, down from 6.9 percent yesterday.   Before the news was announced, the Albemarle Supervisors were briefed by officials from the TJHD, including Ryan McKay. (download the presentation) “We’re certainly seeing increased number of cases among students,” McKay said. “We’re beginning to see some cases that are occurring on Grounds. Working with UVA, we meet with them on a daily basis to make sure we are communicating regularly, with transparency between what we’re seeing in terms of numbers, what they’re seeing, and then how we’re trying to support students.” McKay told Albemarle Supervisors that the area is moving towards more community transmission in urban areas. “And I think this is largely attributable to case counts that have been seen and positivity rates certainly in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County,” McKay said. “We are seeing increased numbers here in Charlottesville.”*The Virginia Senate has passed legislation requiring most utilities to develop debt repayment plans for those who have not been able to pay for electric, gas, or water service. The legislation sponsored by Senator Jennifer McClellan (D-9) was approved 24 to 12 with one abstention. (bill)*The Virginia Department of Historic Resources today will meet to consider nominations for two area properties to be listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. One is Jackson P. Burley High School on Rose Hill Drive.“Opened in 1951 as a joint high school for African-American students in both Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Burley graduated its last high school class in 1967,” reads the Burley nomination. “Burley is great, and that it continues to function as a school is I think fantastic and I can say as a coach in the city schools and at Charlottesville High School, I wish the student athletes would go over there and walk the halls at Burley and see the accomplishments of back in the fifties and early sixties,” said Jeff Werner, the city’s historic preservation planner. “It’s just an extraordinary place.”The other is River View Farm, which is now known as the Carr-Greer House at the Ivy Creek Natural Area. “River View Farm was established by Hugh Carr, born enslaved, with an initial down payment on land in 1870 near the confluence of Ivy Creek and the Rivanna River,” reads that nomination. “By the time of his death in 1914, Carr had amassed a farm totaling 108 acres, and was among the largest African American landowners in Albemarle County.” The State Review Board meets at 1 p.m. (agenda)*The Jefferson Madison Regional Library has announced it will reopen some library branches for limited hours by appointment, and that curbside service hours will be extended at the others. The in-person hours wil bel offered at rural branches in outlying counties. “JMRL has worked hard to be able to re-open some doors, and is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the people of Greene, Louisa, and Nelson inside library buildings again,” said JMRL director David Plunkett in a statement. “The Library knows that the people in these communities need access to the resources in their local libraries, and are glad to be able to offer these again on a limited and safe basis.” Beginning Monday, the limited in-person appointment services can be used for up to 45 minutes by five individuals at a time. This is a move to tier 3 service, down from tier 4. Additional curbside service will come to Northside and Crozet libraries beginning on September 28. Call for more information. As a covered call alternative, I was interested in possibly buying a LEAP with a 1 or 2 year expiration and selling monthly calls against it.  When I looked up a few stocks and ran some preliminary numbers, I noticed that the cost to purchase a deep in the money LEAP (about 80 Delta) option was usually higher than the total money I would make selling monthly calls for the duration of the LEAPS. What I did to get these rough numbers was to take the money earned from selling the initial 1-month call (after commission cost) and multiplying it by 12 or 24.  I'm assuming one or more of these possibilities: 1. The method I used to get these figures is wrong, even as a rough estimate. 2. This strategy will only work with certain stocks/underlying that have optimal greek numbers. 3. This method only works when assuming the underlying LEAP also appreciates in value to offset its own cost. 4. Commission costs make this strategy less successful. Any information you can provide about this strategy is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and keep up the good work on a great program!   Around the Block: What is going to happen in Hong Kong?
