Then, the pandemic happened, and it changed the whole world, and technology became even more important. For the past year and half, going on two years, we have essentially been reprogrammed on the way we communicate, celebrate, shop, and buy. Joining Sean Bradley is Nicolas Cossette, the Head of Growth & Operations at Matador.ai. Matador.ai is the leading customer engagement platform built for the automotive industry. They discuss how you can make as much money as you can earn in the automotive industry. As a green pea or a seasoned veteran, any automotive sales associate can make an extraordinary amount of money. Robert Lowery started doing so his first month on the sales floor. About Robert Lowery Robert Lowery entered the auto industry in 2010. He started working as a technician at a Ford dealership after attending Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Florida. After two years at a Ford dealership, Robert made the move to Infiniti dealership. He worked at this dealership for 8 years as a technician. With the desire to be more and make more, Robert wanted to take the step up to a management position. His GM informed him that becoming a service advisor would be the next step. Quickly becoming the top performing service writer, Robert remained in this role for 3 years. While Robert was training, the top sales associate at his dealership sold 23 cars that month. Robert set his goals high. He wanted to sell 30 cars his first month. While he fell short at 22 sales, he broke the dealership's all time gross sales record. At 22 cars, Robert more than doubled the sales of the average sales associate in the United States. Working bell to bell everyday, along with his days off, all of Robert's sales were fresh ups. Robert talks about the work-life balance and how he did not hide behind this balance. Instead, he incorporates his work with his life and makes it one. David discusses how having the proper dealer-vendor relationships helps to achieve this. One of his favorite vendor relationships is CallSource. About Robbie Irvin Robbie Irvin has been in the automotive industry for three and a half years. Starting at a CDJR store in Illinois, he and his family moved to Florida two years ago where Robbie started working as a sales consultant at Gary Smith Honda. Prior to 2020, the most Robbie had earned in a single year was $60,000 and he averaged 18 vehicles sold each month. In June 2020, Robbie sold 35.5 cars and made $19,000. He was able to increase his monthly production by changing how he starts each day, along with his daily work plan and his plan of attack. A few of these changes include getting to work early, increasing communication attempts each day, and utilizing the dealership's data and equity mining tool, AutomotiveMastermind. Robbie finished 2020 with over $125,000 in personal income and so far in 2021, he has had two 31+ unit months and is on pace to make over $160,000. This week on the Millionaire Car Salesman Podcast, Sean V. Bradley, CSP interviews Jeff Homolak, the Business Development Manager at Medina Auto Mall in Medina County, OH. Jeff built the Internet Sales Department at the Medina Auto Mall in September of 2020. Since then, the BDC has grown to extraordinary heights, setting over 840 appointments and selling an average of 350 cars each month. Starting with the car salesperson, Nadine shares a real life experience. Nadine accompanied her oldest daughter while she was shopping for a vehicle. Since her daughter has a variety of disabilities, the sales associate would talk to Nadine. Think about that. Her daughter was the buyer, but the sales associate spoke to Nadine, not the buyer. Nadine had felt that it was condescending. Nadine’s daughter ended up purchasing a vehicle at a different dealership. The experience was night and day, and that was the biggest deciding factor in choosing their dealership. This experience is something many people with disabilities face when shopping for a vehicle. But, imagine if your dealership was disability inclusive and have people with disabilities employed. The Disabled Community is the Largest and Fastest Growing Minority The disabled demographic is the largest and fastest growing minority in the world. Additionally, they have also passed the Hispanic population by 5% in the US. With this in mind, and knowing the disable community buy vehicles, why have car dealers not become more disabled friendly? The Disabled Community is the Largest and Fastest Growing Minority Dealerships are hemorrhaging with HR, but they neglect to hire qualified disabled people. Not only is the disable community highly talented, but they are also the most loyal and innovative people out there. An example of the disabled community’s success is seen in call centers. Turnover rates have decreased dramatically and productivity increased dramatically when organizations hire people with disabilities. This one area could drastically improve the internet sale department of every car dealership. Adding to this, Nadine has seen overall productivity increase as well. Employees with disabilities tend to outperform other employees. Productivity from employees without disabilities then increases. This is likely due to them wondering how the disabled community is better and faster. The Top 4 Common Misperceptions of Hiring the Disabled Community Why wouldn’t you hire someone with a disability? For many, it is because they are misinformed. As a result, the employer’s lack of education prevents them from hiring some of the best employees. There are four main topics on why employers don’t hire people with disabilities. Fear First, and one of the most common misperceptions, is fear. They fear that the employee will cost them a lot of money in accommodations. This is far from the truth. In fact, the average cost of accommodation in the US is $375. However, most disabled people do not require any accommodations. Termination Next is the fear of not being able to fire an underperforming employee that has a disability. Absolutely not! There are performance standards like there are for anyone else. Comfort A lot of employers also believe that hiring employees with disabilities will make their customers uncomfortable. Especially if the employee looks or moves differently. Despite this belief, it is just a myth. In fact, studies have shown that customers react positively when interacting with organizations that employ the disabled community. They look at it as you are doing something good.. Engage The last problem employers tend to face is that they don’t know how to engage appropriately. The number one global practice is disability etiquette and awareness training. It teaches everyone how to engage, how to communicate, and work side by side. The end result is all parties being comfortable.
