"HousingLOUISIANA is a statewide initiative aimed at meeting Louisiana's housing needs and create a statewide network of regional housing alliances to ensure better collaboration across the state. Under the #PutHousingFirst banner, Louisiana has built out its Housing Triad, a multi-pronged strategy transforming the affordable housing marketplace across the state. Ramos would gain greater fame in 1888 when he concocted the first Ramos Gin Fizz — a mixture of gin, lemon juice, lime juice, egg white, sugar, cream, orange flower water, and soda water — at his Imperial Cabinet Saloon on Gravier Street. Before Prohibition, Ramos had over 20 bartenders working at the Imperial at once making nothing but the Ramos Gin Fizz - and still struggling to keep up with demand. Hey folks,Sorry for the delay on the show as the show's file got corrupted and the whole editing process had to be started all over again!!! Computers …right!!!This show is all about bitters! Now, you are asking yourself or me in this case…what is bitters and how does it affect a drink's taste? Well, we will dive into the answer which really goes back to the old times of pre-historic medicine. Yeah, bitters were a medical ingredient that you would add to your food or drink and resolve medical issues such as upset stomach or arthritis. Why don't we use it now for medical treatment…well it was mostly the reason you see in old western where the man in the wagon has this magical liqueur to fix it all and through time, we found other ways to resolve these issues. Also, most of the time it did not really work! So, we are doing two cocktails for you today using bitters: East India Cocktail and Triggerfish Cocktail (yes, that is the state fish of Hawaii). It goes by another name, but you know me I cannot pronounce it. If you really want the name, here it is: HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A!!!On “Craig's Creation” segment: we will do you guessed it, another bitter cocktail of my own called the Fred Collins Fizz. There were cocktails made back in the 30s called Fizz which would have soda or pop of some kind in it. You might have heard of a Gin Fizz (same concept). On “Mark's Adventures” segment: We talk about a tiki bar (well tropical one) in Boston!! That is right…get your chowder here!! This newly recent bar Tiki Rock (2018) is in an historical building in downtown Boston and features some of the classic cocktails plus their own spin on drinks. Mark walks us through some of the cool features of this bar and of course the drinks as well. The even have one called ScrumdiddlyRumptious!!! How cool is that name? I know I need to work on my drink naming skills…Norma!!!On “The Brazilian” segment: Paola dives into the way they welcome and greet each other in public. No high fives here but some kisses on the check. It has at times when she first came to Canada got herself into some trouble. The other thing we talk about is that Brazilians are cool about you trying to speak Portuguese and no, that not Spanish!!!Show links: Recipes: https://tikicentralcanada.ca/recipes/Cool Links for the Bitters Book used on the show: https://tikicentralcanada.ca/cool-links/Mark's Adventures' page: https://tikicentralcanada.ca/marks-tiki-page/How to make the HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A cocktail YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlugfKyLKmcCool video on the Trigger fish YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj4Qcw5XLbwHow to make the Pineapple syrup at home YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOFPh7KR1Rs&t=103s
We finally got an expert in the building to settle all of the wildest medical conspiracies your little heart desires. Much like the hit board game 'Operation', we get in there and carefully extract every little detail from the Doc's brain. What will we find??? Come find out!!!

For part 1 of our discussion, Rose and I are talking about organizing and decluttering when you and your partner see clutter differently. We hear how Rose and her husband reacted when she started her minimalism "hobby", how to approach a conversation about organizing with your loved one, and how to deal if one of you is an "outie" and one of you is an "innie". And we include a recipe for a delicious Valentine's inspired Strawberry Mint Gin Fizz. This week’s feature had us with vehemence. Not was this only the name of the track that raised our interested in this upcoming artist, it was also the vehemence of a trippy bassline that got us hooked immediately! And when Daniel Steinfels mixes a Gin Fizz exclusively here on Schirmchendrink it gets very addictive too: Hard to categorize Daniel’s music: it can be trippy, it’s rather slow than fast, it often features a driving bassline, it’s experimental, and, most importantly, it is highly original. The same applies to the releases on Tonal, his label, which he co-manages with Landhouse by the way, another original character we hosted earlier this year. There must be something about the Black Forest in Germany, definitely a hot spot if you’re into innovative electronic music! Guess what, the very same applies to Daniel’s Gin Fizz! What a lovely mixture of unique gems across electronica, downtempo, deep techno and even beyond electronic music. And, prick your ears for that unique Daniel Steinfels bassline! We’re definitely addicted of your music, Daniel, thank you for this character sip! . . Thanks to the dear Morten Krag for the beautiful cocktail on the artwork. Always an honor to feature your creation straight out of Denmark on our channel! Check out www.instagram.com/thecocktail.blog for more of his fantastic drinks. . . Cheers! The bartenders Link up! Swetlana fragt, welcher Sloe Gin ? Gut zehn Jahre her. (OMG)

For our first cocktail of the year we welcome Rolandson to the Schirmchendrink bartender team. Rolandson, a traveler through the sounds of this world, masters the art of storytelling like no other. He explored the depths of 90s Berlin dub & techno, the electro swing revival in Paris/ France and Brighton/ England as well as the downtempo and indigenous sounds of this world. And all of his experiences are reflected in his music. Today, Rolandson mainly travels on the sea: as captain of Seasidetrip, an outstanding podcast and netlabel, he chose the only possible drink for a real captain – a gin, what else? The combination with sourish slices of rhubarb is excellent to survive storms and heavy sea. But its also a perfect drink to enjoy on deck while the ship is slicing through calm waters. And this is exactly what we are going to do now! Let’s take it one gear down for our first mix in 2017 and put our glasses up to Rolandson’s Rhubarb Gin Fizz!
