Get on all fours and slurp the spilled beer from the cement, because we are back for our surprise eighth season of new/old Wie is de Mol episodes - and we're beginning the year by going all the way back to 2012's offering in Iceland & Spain! Over these nine weeks, three guys who are too old to do the 3am wake up call - Logan, Michael & Bindles - will be recapping and negotiating their way through everything that happened on another season with a very interesting backstory now built upon further by Renaissamce, beginning with the first episode and elimination of Marion. In this episode - we reveal why we didn't cover Renaissamce, Logan helps Michael plan a trip, we go through our summers, Michael has been to a premiere, Bindles feels left out, a years-long quest continues, there's some Traitors (Quebec) Talk, we explain how Fuzzy could have known (and been wrong) about this, William overstates the budget, Canada's new favourite dating show is announced, we decide who is dumb, blunt and famous respectively, some bingo ground rules are set, we explain how you can get us to do Australia 6, Logan has a unique complaint, Maarten tries to big brain this show, there's a fundamental problem with the bridge challenge, we find time for some movie reviews, Logan locks in his first suspicions of the season, we have a new sneaky mystery and Michael tries out a new outro. Thank you for listening - we will see you next week for Episode 2! Please note: This season is intended on being spoiler-free, so please watch the episodes along with us. As with our coverage of Seasons 9, 11, 14, 16 & 17, there are no spoilers due to Logan not having seen the season before. However, any season we have already covered (WIDM 9-11, 14, 16-25 and Renaissance; België 4-13) is fair game though. This episode is supported by our friends over at Zencastr. When first described this huge member of the sauropod family was thought to be Brachiosaurus. But a later look showed that it was a different dinosaur. Named Giraffatitan, this massive dinosaur was among the largest animals to ever roam Africa. Support the show
Amelia Thomas is a Cambridge University-educated author, naturalist, journalist, horse-owner, and mother of five. Her non-fiction book, The Zoo on the Road to Nablus, the true story of the last Palestinian zoo, was a Daily Mail (UK) and Washington Post Critic's Choice, and inspired the Italian documentary, Waiting for Giraffes. Her new book What Sheep Think About the Weather, asks: what are animals trying to say - not to each other, but to us? Amelia has written for numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Washington Post, Sunday Times (UK), CNN Traveler, the Christian Science Monitor, Lonely Planet magazine, and the Middle East Times. She has authored and contributed to over a dozen travel books for Lonely Planet, including guides to Lebanon, India, and the first Israel and Palestinian Territories guide to be published after the Second Intifada. She presented a documentary for National Geographic Channel's “Roads Less Travelled” series, spent a year following a family of clowns in a Russian circus for a documentary for European TV networks, and is presently in pre-production for an investigative documentary into the disappearance of Jodi Henrickson, a teenager missing since 2009.Animals have often featured in her work and travels, from visiting elephant sanctuaries in Laos to galloping through remote jungles in Belize to rehoming stray puppies in rural India. She is currently working on a book on how we can best listen to animals, which will be published by Sourcebooks in the US and Elliott & Thompson in the UK in summer, 2025: a journey of discovery through the scientific, practical and spiritual work of the world's best animal-listeners, seeking to find out what animals are saying, not to each other, but to humans specifically - and to learn how we can become better listeners. On previous Creation Moments, we have talked about some of the wonderful designs that help make the giraffe possible. The giraffe has a strong heart to pump blood all the way up to its head and strong arteries to withstand the high blood pressure needed to carry the blood to its head. We have also talked about the giraffe's so-called "wonder net," which is a network of blood vessels that helps to stabilize the blood pressure in the giraffe's head even when it raises and lowers its head. But modern science continues to uncover engineering wonders that enable the giraffe to keep blood flowing evenly to its brain and keep blood from pooling in its legs. Researchers have discovered that giraffes, unlike human beings, have a valve in the jugular vein. But these valves work in the wrong direction to help blood stay in the head. Instead, they close when a giraffe lowers its head, preventing used blood from backing up into the brain. And how does a giraffe, which stays on its feet all day, keep blood from pooling in its legs? Scientists have found that the skin on a giraffe's legs is very tight fitting. When a giraffe walks, its muscle movement within that tight skin actually helps pump used blood out of the legs.If life owed its existence to chance and genetic mistakes, we wouldn't have any giraffes today. But what a wonder of God's design these stately creatures are!Job 39:19"'Have you given the horse strength? Have you clothed his neck with thunder?'"Prayer: Dear Lord, there is nothing too hard for You. Help me to remember the example of the giraffe when life seems filled with too many difficult details. May I be reminded to bring all things to You, for You have promised to hear me. Amen.REF.: Pedley, T.J. How giraffes prevent oedema. Nature. Do you have a Giraffe mindset or a Hippo state of mind? Soren Kierkegaard said that “The door of happiness opens inward.” Dr. Seuss said, “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” Wait, did Dr. Seuss really say that? The Cranberries said, "Do you have to let it linger?" We think you do. We also think that Dr. Seuss didn't really say that, but we know who did. So come and Linger with us and bring in the New Year correctly. You'll be Happy you did.By the way we meant to post this Monday but due to some issues, we didn't get it posted in until actual New Years Eve so some of the dates/timeline we mentioned are no longer completely accurate. The song we used for the intro was "Happy Holidays (Beef Wellington Remix)" by Beef Wellington and 2003 Christmas Chill Inc. The ending song was "Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante. We used "Linger" from The Cranberries. We also used "Baby It's Cold Outside" the original from the romantic comedy musical Neptune's Daughter released by MGM in 1949. We don't own any rights. A Day in Disney's Animal Kingdom: A Complete Guide to Adventure and AweArriving early is one of the best ways to experience Animal Kingdom. As you walk across the bridge from the Oasis toward the Tree of Life, the park begins to reveal itself slowly. Birds call from hidden perches, foliage rustles, and the elaborate carvings on the Tree of Life seem to come alive in the morning light. If you plan to experience the attractions in Pandora, heading directly there is wise. The Wait time for Avatar Flight of Passage is shortest in the morning and gives you a breathtaking ride through the landscapes of Pandora. For a gentler but equally beautiful experience, Na'vi River Journey offers a serene boat ride through bioluminescent forests.Once the initial rush settles, the park becomes a haven for exploration. The Kilimanjaro Safaris ride is a must. It is one of the rare theme park experiences where no two rides are the same, thanks to the movement and moods of the animals. Morning to late morning is a great window, as many animals are active before the heat of the day.Exploring the walking trails, such as the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail or the Maharajah Jungle Trek, brings a quieter appreciation of the park. These trails allow you to move at your own pace, read interpretive displays, and spend time watching animals in habitats that feel remarkably open and natural. If you are hungry, Animal Kingdom has some of Disney's best food options. Satu'li Canteen offers customizable bowls that are fresh and flavorful, while Flame Tree Barbecue delivers hearty classics with scenic seating by the water.By afternoon, it is time for some excitement. Expedition Everest is the park's signature roller coaster, blending speed, storytelling, and one infamous guardian of the mountain. Even if you do not usually seek out thrill rides, Everest has a unique charm that comes from its details and immersive queue.Nearby, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond provides a beautifully staged musical break inside a cool, dark theater. For an even deeper dive into nature and culture, Festival of the Lion King remains one of Disney's most celebrated live productions, offering breathtaking vocals, acrobatics, and choreography inspired by the film.If heat or crowds rise, this is a great time to pause with a cold drink or take a slow walk through Discovery Island, stopping to look at the often-overlooked animal exhibits surrounding the Tree of Life.As sunset approaches, the park transforms. Pandora's glowing plants begin to pulse with color, and the atmosphere shifts from lively to enchanting. This is a perfect time to walk the pathways between the floating mountains, taking in the sounds and details that are easy to miss during the day.Dinner options like Tiffins or Yak and Yeti offer relaxing, flavorful meals to close out your exploration. Afterward, enjoy a final walk past the softly lit Tree of Life. The nighttime awakenings, featuring projection shows with animal themes, are subtle but magical, offering a reflective end to the day.A day in Animal Kingdom is not just about rides or shows but about stepping into a world that celebrates exploration, conservation, and imagination. It offers a pace unlike any other Disney park, encouraging you to slow down, observe, and connect with the stories and animals around you. Whether this is your first visit or your tenth, the park always finds new ways to surprise and inspire.

Save 10 Percent on 1st 12 Months with Voucher Code: WGAN https://offer.giraffe360.com/wgan/ In this episode of WGAN-TV Live at 5, Dan Smigrod sits visits with Jānis Beinerts, Senior Product Designer at Giraffe360, to explore the newly launched Giraffe PRO Camera and the upgraded Giraffe360 platform designed for real estate photographers. The conversation opens with a deep dive into the complete suite of deliverables generated from a single property scan - property websites, AI-enhanced photos, 3D virtual tours, floor plans, and multiple video styles, and more - all produced automatically through the platform's processing pipeline. Jānis explains how the Giraffe PRO Camera was engineered not just as a piece of hardware but as part of a larger ecosystem where hardware, software, and automation converge. He describes how the Giraffe PRO Camera and platform together enable photographers to deliver a multichannel marketing bundle that increases listing engagement, boosts time-on-page, and generates more leads for agents. The discussion highlights Giraffe360's data-supported claim that properties captured with the system sell up to seven days faster, with the new Giraffe PRO Camera expected to widen this advantage. Dan and Jānis walk through a real example of a single property website generated automatically by the platform. Jānis explains how assets such as HDR photos, floor plans, and property metadata are captured, processed, and surfaced to buyers in a clean, structured layout. Some data is pulled automatically - such as location and measured area - while other fields can be edited directly by the photographer or agent to fine-tune the listing. The episode also tees up one of the most compelling features: Giraffe360's ability to produce multiple styles of marketing videos without shooting any video at all, thanks to advanced AI reconstruction and creative automation. This expands what real estate photographers can offer without increasing onsite capture time. Throughout the episode, Dan asks pointed questions that help real estate photographers understand not just the what but also the why: why multichannel marketing matters, why automation is essential for scaling, and why combining hardware, software, and AI is redefining real estate media production.

For the episode we're continuing our conversation with Rick Hester, Amy Shilze and Lucy Butler. Rick is the Curator of Behavioral Husbandry for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. He oversees all the zoo's behavioral programming. His work includes the zoo's animal training for husbandry, medical, and public show behaviors, enrichment, developing programs to improve problem behavior situations, the zoo's formal animal welfare assessments, and exhibit design for behavior goals. We're also joined by Amy Schilze, who has the dream job of working with the Cheyenne Mountain zoo's giraffe. Amy is the Senior Animal Behaviorist for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's International Center for the Care and Conservation of Giraffe, where she runs giraffe workshops and conferences, both stateside and internationally. Both Rick and Amy also partner with Dr. Susan Friedman and her Behavior Works consulting team so you'll hear a lot of references to Susan throughout this conversation. In addition to Rick and Amy, I invited Lucy Butler to join us. Lucy and her husband run the River Haven Animal Sanctuary in Rhode Island. I knew she would have a lot of questions for Rick and Amy. When you take in animals who are the victims of abuse, there's a lot to be learned from the work that goes on in zoos to reduce the stress of handling and also to improve the overall quality of life for the animals under their care. In this episode Rick and Amy talk about the educational programs which are woven into the experience Guests have as they tour the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There are twenty-three shows for the public every day. In these shows the animals are the star. It is about showing what they can do, what their natural behaviors are - all while protecting the dignity of the animals. The shows at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo show animals controlling their reinforcers and using their bodies in ways that are natural to them. Trainers interpret both what their life in the zoo looks like, what their life in the wild environment looks like, and how capable they are of learning. They are trying to create connections between the public and the animals at the zoo in a way that elevates the animal. For Lucy this part of the conversation was especially relevant because the public is invited in to tour the River Haven Animal Sanctuary that she and her husband run. She was getting many great ideas for how they can make this experience better both for their guests and their resident animals. But even if you don't give tours, there's much here that can be used to enrich your horse's life. We begin the episode with a discussion of techniques used to introduce new animals into an existing social group.

When you take in animals who are the victims of abuse, there's a lot to be learned from the work that goes on in zoos to reduce the stress of handling and also to improve the overall quality of life for the animals under their care. In this episode Rick and Amy talk about fine-tuning what a “no response” looks like and what handlers should do when they see the first signs of an animal saying “no”. As they fine tuned their understanding of “no” responses, they were actually describing an operationalized behavior that is “yes”. What does it look like for an animal to say “yes” Assent is a behavior the learner performs and continues to perform that lets us know we can continue. When they stop performing that behavior, assent is withdrawn, so we have to withdraw. This is the process that the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo trainers follow. Relief is readily available to the animal learners. Across species in a system where relief is abundantly available and there are strong reinforcers at a high rate for opting in, most animals opt in more and opt out less. After Rick and Amy describe the training that they are doing at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, we switch the focus to horse training. Letting horses opt out runs counter to traditional horse training methods. But certainly we know that horses also opt in more when they have the option of saying “no”. This episode also includes an announcement for my new book: “Never Get A Wizard Mad At You”: Book One in the Upstairs Armadillo Series.

Pieter Swart, the President of the South Africa Taxidermy and Tanners Association, joins Robbie this week to discuss a recent proposal by the organization to delist giraffes from Appendix II protections. This proposal and its science were put forward to the DFFE (Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment) in South Africa, and the governmental agency has agreed and has moved the proposal forward to be reviewed, discussed, and voted on at the CITES COP in November in Uzbekistan. There is no reason this proposal shouldn't be adopted and approved by CITES. The science is there, CITES requirements have been met, and the proposal is going forward. At CITES, the requirement to pass is a two-thirds majority vote—which is the political gamesmanship of South Africa up against a global political machine to fight for the science.
