https://www.youtube.com/@Jerykomusichttps://www.jeryko.com/InstagramBioSometimes music is more than just a listening experience, inspiring us to connect withsomething deeper.Such is the case with the music of rising artist Jeryko, whose debut full-length album invites listeners to explore their own sense of meaning and wonder. Known for his sold-outperformances at New York venues like Gramercy Theater and Music Hall of Williamsburg,Jeryko has cultivated a local US and international fanbase from places like South Africa,Europe, and Australia. His signature style blends neo-Hasidic spirituality with contemporarysounds. In collaboration with producer Prince Fox, his new album is being released track bytrack, starting with the singles “Walk Away” and “Dreaming.”The latest single, “Dreaming,” captures the heart of Jeryko's artistic vision: what he calls thesecond coming-of-age. This pivotal life stage, as he describes it, involves moving beyond theinitial transition into adulthood to seek a deeper purpose, forge meaningful connections, andembrace a connection with something higher than ourselves. “It's about committing to a life withmore depth—asking yourself, ‘What am I here for?'”Musically, the single balances dreamlike airiness with grounded determination. Ethereal beatsand layered guitar melodies point to the higher aspirations of Jeryko's dreams, while gritty bassand drum breakdowns reflect the earthly resolve needed to achieve them. The lyrics underscorethis duality:“Dreaming / Head's up in the clouds / I'm just dreaming / They tell me to come down / Allthey know is what they tell themselves / But I'm still dreaming in the clouds / Not comingdown.”With influences like Kings of Leon, Chance the Rapper, and Mac Miller, Jeryko's sound defiesgenres while staying deeply rooted in his faith. His spiritual and artistic direction drawsinspiration from pioneers like Hasidic reggae star Matisyahu and Christian rapper Forrest Frank.Similarly, Jeryko is bringing Jewish-inspired music into the global mainstream. Producer PrinceFox, known for his work with Bebe Rexha and Hailee Steinfeld, contributed his expertise to theproject, helping Jeryko craft a polished yet soulful sound.Jeryko's creative process is inspired by Jewish mysticism, particularly the idea that everymoment and creation has its own melody. “When I write,” he explains, "it feels similar to an actof prayer, because you& trying to communicate the most real things in your heart and connectwith something much bigger than yourself." Whether composing alone or improvising with anaudience, this philosophy drives his artistry and creates a sense of connection in his music. The theme of a second coming of age resonates deeply with Jeryko's personal journey. Afterearly experiences and a career behind the scenes in the music industry, working in labels andmanagement, there was a moment when something clicked. His passion for creatingmusic—and inspiring others—ultimately drew him back. “When you have so many people in oneroom listening to you,” he says, “you have an incredible opportunity to share a positivemessage. I think a lot of artists miss out on that opportunity.” Jeryko wants to leave his listenerswith meaningful takeaways they can carry into their own lives.Jeryko's music is available on all major streaming platforms. Get to know James Ryder frontman for Ryder band outside of Queens NY. Ryder is a four-piece, hard rock band hailing from Queens, New York. Formed in 2016, the group has left its mark throughout North America before being signed in 2021 by UK-based record label, Bad Monkey Records. Ryder utilizes their brand of natural classic rock vibes, to throw down in front of a modern crowd. Lead singer & guitarist, James Ryder, reminds us what determination, passion, and the spirit of rock means. James' vocals are capricious and ungovernable, while his Guitar skills are classically hard. Erik Unkrich's effortlessly deep, thunderous Bass tones resonate with audiences. Guitarist, Andrew Bloch, rounds out the band by weaving long-sought, magically untouched, musical threads that turn Ryder into a single unifying force of pure molten rock. Ryder gives their all to live audiences with their authentically heavy sound. Ryder has played at some of the most iconic venues in the United States like LA's Whiskey A-Go-Go, NY's Gramercy Theater, NJ's Wellmont Theater, and the 2018 & 2019 Rocklahoma Festival. The group leaves a lasting impression on these audiences, with music that leaves you wanting more. Ryder is set to bring back the nostalgic memories that only rock concerts provide. With a mix of modern and classic rock vibes, Ryder takes their live concerts to the next level. The group's style pays respect to bands prior. National acts like Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, and Black Sabbath, inspire Ryder's vibe while incorporating their own modern twists. Ryder's first EP, What It's Worth, released in 2018, is a live compilation of original songs, that showcase the member's natural abilities. The group's first studio album, Killer Karma, came to life at Obscenic Arts Studio in Dillsburg, PA with Anthony Esposito (Lynch Mob/Ace Frehley/Red Dragon Cartel) at the helm. Released in August 2020, it has already caught the attention of fans across the world with its classic yet contemporary sound. Killer Karma fills the gap of what's been sorely missed in the hard rock scene lately. In 2022, Ryder released the single, Lilan's Lullaby, which has received over 300,000 views on YouTube. Ryder followed up by releasing Don't Think Twice, an EP, the same year (2022). Don't Think Twice showcases the group's next evolution in sound. These tracks bring back those classic hard rocking vibes with depth and a darker tone. Currently, Ryder is writing their next full-length album, sure to shake up the industry with their radiating, hard-hitting, works of art. In addition, this foursome recently released their new LIVE album, in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of their first live album release. Pablo Helguera is an world-renown artist, performer, cartoonist, poet, writer, author of several books, advice columnist, The Estheticist, lecturer/educator, a professor at the New School, father, husband and he can sing and write songs! To understand Pablo and his work, you really need to listen to this episode of how he has evolved into the artist he's become. Pablo was born in 1971 in Mexico City to a family of classical musicians. His brother, 9 years older, was a poet and a philosopher. Pablo describes how his day to day, his brother was teaching him, opening his mind and having him read all this heavy philosophy shit at a young age. So while you were playing Nintendo, he was reading Nietzsche. All of this powerful and unusual education helped create a precocious young man. When Pablo was still in his twenties, he was awarded a Creative Capital Grant to realize his project: School of Panamerican Unrest. The core of the project consisted of a traveling schoolhouse which made 30 stops between the U.S. state of Alaska and Chile's Antártica Chilena province between May and September 2006, following the entire length of the Pan-American Highway. Pablo's unlimited, curiosity, drive and generous desire to connect with so many disparate communities makes for an extremely compelling Dr. Lisa session like nothing I've ever heard. You can enjoy Pablo's latest project, Beautiful Eccentrics HERE. Instagram: helguerapablo Website: http://pablohelguera.net/ BIO: Pablo Helguera (Mexico City, 1971) is a New York based artist working with installation, sculpture, photography, drawing, socially engaged art and performance. Helguera's work focuses in a variety of topics ranging from history, pedagogy, sociolinguistics, ethnography, memory and the absurd, in formats that are widely varied including the lecture, museum display strategies, musical performances and written fiction. His work as an educator has usually intersected his interest as an artist. This intersection is best exemplified in his project, “The School of Panamerican Unrest”, a nomadic think-tank that physically crossed the continent by car from Anchorage, Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, making 40 stops in between. Covering almost 20,000 miles, it is considered one of the most extensive public art projects on record as well as a pioneering work for the new generation of artworks regarded under the area of socially engaged art. Pablo Helguera performed individually at the Museum of Modern Art /Gramercy Theater, in 2003, where he showed his work “Parallel Lives”. His musical composition, “Endingness” has been performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Phantom Electric Ghost INTERVIEW “THE VELVICKS” The Velvicks, like many of the best rock and roll stories, can be traced back to a basement--but even further back to a kid in his bedroom with a guitar a bit further away in Brazil. Vick Nader (guitar, songwriter and vocals), certainly had ample artistic inspiration early in life. Music became a unifying language that connected his lives in 2 very different places. Vick's family moved between Brazil and Miami during his childhood. Upon one of his return trips to Brazil his brother brought home an old nylon guitar which he started to play. By age 15, he was creating music that drew from both cultures, and decades of musical influence. He quickly found that music and guitar became both a therapy, and a social catalyst, connecting both of his cultures. Since very young he knew that he wanted to pursue music as more than a hobby. In 2017 the Brazilian gang Vick, Vinny Da Silva (lead guitar) and Apoena Frota (bass) were hanging out at Ed Marson's (Drums) house where they called “The Monroe Mansion”, throwing shows and parties in the basement. Following a serendipitous encounter with a booking agent at one of these parties and strong support from their Brooklyn music community, the group evolved into what is now known as The Velvicks. Their debut performance as a band was at the legendary Irving Plaza in New York City. With influences ranging from Queens of The Stone Age, and Foo Fighters to The Black Keys and Radiohead, the band delivers heart-pounding Rock that is at once familiar and distinctive. The sounds of the band members' individual experiences combine with a shared passion for authentic rock and roll. “Songs are making sense; the band is delivering badass live performances and people are responding to it,” says Vick Nader -Lead Vocals. Over the last two years, the band has played local NYC venues like Rough Trade, National Sawdust, Surf Lodge and Gramercy Theater, and completed a West Coast Tour. During that time, they began writing their debut EP. "Run".-- which will be released in Summer 2020. Please visit www.thevelvicks.com for more information and tour updates. About the Song ‘L.A.' L.A. Pays homage to everyone who gives up on most of life's ordinary experiences, known by most people as happiness, to pursue what brings them sanity, joy. This tune sings to everyone who sacrifices time to devote themselves to developing a skill and dedicate their life to it, bypassing the inevitable self doubt, existential crises and social disapproval to most likely, in the end, deal with deceptions. Cheers to the brave hearted blind faith knuckleheads out there. Machine» y «I Wanna Be Somebody» impulsaron las ventas del álbum.

On this weeks episode I’m Kush Chatting with Lead Singer Crystalla Gonzalez & Lead Guitarist Gabriel Castellar of the band No Grudges who since their time in high school have not only been songwriting partners but partners in real life. In 2011, they started their first band together which led them to be able to perform in NYC’s top venues such as Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theater, Webster Hall, and even the infamous, iHeart Radio Theater. They also participated in both CMJ and CBGB festivals along with opening up for Bad Brains legendary singer, HR. In the beginning of 2020, Gabriel and Crystalla decided to move forward with the name, No Grudges. They felt the name vibed with their new sound and philosophy. On our Twitter and IG @highdecibelspod: We met someone who was there for their first concert EVER. What was your first concert, and was it meaningful to you? It’s a challenging time. Obviously, we’re on hiatus from our usual coverage, but are seeking live streams and remote artist interviews (if you’re interested, give us a shout!). So here’s a bit of a throwback to The Last Days of Concerts. Marleah and James recap Lucki (with Poundside Pop, DJ Killa Kam, DJ Rennessy), who they saw at Gramercy Theater on 3-10-20. Marleah appreciates a man who is both handsome and organized (that'd be manager Jordi, thank you for your help!), and felt self-conscious moshing because she looked like a total nerd (the cure for that...moshing). James’ smartwatch was concerned he was stressed, but he just likes being in the moshpit. Both Marleah and James had much respect for both DJ KillaKam making us all a family for a little while, and Lucki’s willingness to show us the truth of his lived experiences. But would he be ok us getting lost in his show, at the expense of taking in his performance? That’s the question we'd love to ask! We offer the shot for you to executive produce an episode, where we cover *any* show you want in the NYC area (and even have you guest on the show if you’d like)! 022: Kevin ChownThe Carpet of ConfidenceIt's Wednesday, January the 13th of 2020.*if you like the show, please tell a friend! Before we hit you with today’s interview I'd like to hip you to the premise of this show, because you should know what we stand for around here. It came to me in a flash as I was finishing last week's episode with Mike.Ready? Here it is:"Music is not content. It's connection."**Now I've heard the wailing and I've even done a bit of it myself, people are crying about how the music biz is a sucker's game and all kinds of other hoo haa from all kinds of folks, everywhere. It's a saw we can pick up, But there's less stuff to cut with it. Because the music game may indeed be a sucker's biz, but that's only for those who call it a game and play it like one. But you and I know it's NOT a game. Music is not just about feeding the beast. We play for a multitude of reasons and in a magnitude of different ways. And we do it to open up doors and channels and pathways and hearts, and to amplify all kinds of resonances that don't fit onto a spreadsheet. The spotify top 100 is just a spreadsheet, don't let em trick you. Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest. I'll get deeper into this idea and what it means in future episodes, but I'm sure you get the drift.Meanwhile, today's episode is gonna blow your mind.Kevin Chown is a bass player. And he is a warrior. The style of music he is known for is of the heavy variety, he's associated with several projects over the years, from Cosmosquad to Sebastian Bach to Chad Smith to the power trio Der Elefant. When we spoke, it was on the same gig that my cello friend Max Lilja was on: the Finnish heavy metal/opera singer Tarja Turunen. You could call him a road dog.But you and I know that as excited as we all can get about playing music and maybe even earning a living from it, there's an ugly reality that sneaks in over time. Once the bloom is off the rose and you've been through the ringer a few times, gone around the block, played your first few hundred or few thousand gigs, it can get hard to keep showing up.You might experience a bit of depression as the never-ending highway stretches out in front of you for the unforeseeable future. You may question your life choices as you nurse some tender vertebra after loading your rig in and out of a club before crashing in a strange bed, waking up before dawn, choking down a black coffee and a gas station burrito and facing yet another epic drive, another gig in front of more strangers and another lonely night.Stuff we all deal with at one point or another, yeah those are the basics. But what if you had something else, something potentially catastrophic on top of it all that dwarfed all of the other inconveniences and concerns?Kevin Chown is a monster. I saw him perform shortly after we spoke at the Gramercy Theater in New York City and let me tell you, this guy has a sound and a style that simply takes no prisoners. I could geek out over his signal chain and his bass chops for days, but that would be missing the point. He shows up with a mission and a purpose, each time. And it's a huge risk for him to do so, way beyond what most of us deal with. You're gonna hear him tell us about it in the interview, but suffice it to say that if you find yourself out on the road, lonely and tired, wondering what it's all about, you can always check yourself and take an example from this man you're about to meet.Because there's a reason we go out to play, and when the personal cost is high and the floor falls out from under us, that reason is what saves us and keeps us coming back.Players, I give you Kevin Chown. If you're in LA or going to the NAMM show this week, you can check out Kevin's band Cosmosquad at the #M3Live on Sat. Jan 18th at7pm sharp. They are also playing 2 sets at the Baked Potato on Saturday January 24th. Go check em out!You can find him online at KevinChown.com. After a six year period of absence, Pig Destroyer deployed their sixth full-length record, “Head Cage” this past fall. In addition to their signature brand of blistering death-grind, “Head Cage” hints at subtle expansions into the realm of noise rock and more traditional “rock ‘n’ roll” styling.I caught up with the band in the green room on the night of their record release show at Gramercy Theater in New York City this past fall. Usually, I try to limit the conversation to a maximum of three guys, but this time around I was able to get words in from the whole band. It was a little chaotic at times, but still a lot of fun.Check out Pig Destroyer’s new full-length “Head Cage” available on Relapse RecordsIntro: “House of Snakes” – Pig Destroyer off of “Head Cage”Outro: “Circle River” – Pig Destroyer off of “Head Cage” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
