*** Sorry for this being released again, and out of order. The original got deleted somehow... sorry again*** Patrick Swayze's career hit its peak in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, cementing his status as a Hollywood hearthrob. In the span of five years from 1987 to 1991, he starred in megahits Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Point Break, and this 1989 movie about a bouncer hired to clean up a rowdy honkytonk. Co-starring Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliot, Ben Gazzara and Kevin Tighe, the film was an instant Eighties classic despite not lighting up the box office and earning mostly-negative reviews at time of release. Roger Ebert wrote, “This is not a good movie. But viewed in the right frame of mind, it is not a boring one, either.” While it only grossed about $60 million at the box office, estimates on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray sales and cable/streaming licenses total north of $200 million. The film also earned a remake this year - which we'll be talking about next week! We're pulling up to the bar - and breaking it - with Road House! This week on Fabulous Film & Friends we're leaping head first into the bone-cracking, tooth-spitting, throat-ripping and monster-trucking action of the Road House movies! Both of them! That's the original 1989 version directed by Rowdy Herrington and starring Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliot, Kelly Lynch, Ben Gazzara, Kevin Tighe, Marshall Teague, Julie Michaels, Red West, Kathleen Wilhoite and blink and you'll miss him, Keith David. As compared to the 2024 remake directed by Doug Liman and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Post Malone, Arturo Castro & Joaquim de Almeida. My tougher n' leather crew today is made up of Roseanne Caputi, George Young, David Johnson DMD and although we had to beg him back, the bruiser himself, Gordon Alex Robertson! Before we bite into all that throat-ripping goodness, the synopses: Road House ‘89 is an epic tale of real estate fraud, malfeasance, racketeering and monster truck mayhem when zen, philosophizing Big City club bouncer Dalton is hired by Missouri bar owner Frank Tilgheman to clean up his honky tonk club The Double Deuce. Getting top dollar of 5k a week, Dalton packs up and moves to the town of Jasper to get things moving. After beating up a few goons and cutting the pork out of the Double D, Dalton runs afoul of a local business tycoon, the most Italian looking Brad Wesley you've ever seen. Wesley wants the Double Deuce for his own purposes and he also wants Dalton's new girlfriend, the beautiful and brainy Dr. Elizabeth “Doc” Clay as his own. So Wesley's plan: KILL DALTON! Dalton enlists the aid of his friend and mentor Wade Garrett to help in the ensuing ruckus, but Garrett's skills are no match for Wesley's evil. Wesley kills Wade in doing so unleashes the raging raw brute force of a one man army that is…DALTON! Road House 24' basically follows the same plot as the original except it moves the locale to Florida and makes Dalton an ex-MMA star and gives him the first name Elwood. And speed boats take the place of Monster Trucks. And that's about it. Who wins the smackdown? To celebrate the release of the new Road House on Amazon this week, Chris, along with special guests Justin and Addam watched the original 1989 Road House for the latest Everything Action Commentary.Starring Patrick Swayze as America's greatest bouncer, Dalton, he's hired to try and clean up the Double Deuce, a bar where "they sweep up the eyeballs at the end of the night". While training a crew of bouncers to make the bar safer, Dalton runs afoul of local businessman Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara), who is terrorizing businesses like the Double Deuce to try and drive them out of business so he can build a massive shopping complex. While watching the movie, the guys talk about what it's like for Justin to see the movie for the first time, what genre the movie should fall into, how Dalton's NYU philosophy degree helps him fight, it's similarities to Footloose, Dalton's ridiculous barn loft and more. You can watch Road House on Prime Video or Max and watch along with the Everything Action crew.We want to hear your comments and feedback. Don't let the scholastic stress get to you, and prepare yourself for some ethnic slurs as we enroll in 1992's School Ties. Is young Brendan Fraser an actual Classical sculpture come to life? Was anyone expecting this cultural drama to actually have a complete thrilling sports scene in the middle of it? And does that shower scene mean there is footage out there of Damon and Fraser dong? We sometimes have answers but waspy white dude will always be pricks.
Launch Your Box Podcast with Sarah Williams | Start, Launch, and Grow Your Subscription Box
I'm excited to bring you this interview with Kevin Tighe, co-founder and CEO of Beachly Brands recorded LIVE at SubSummit. Beachly Brands currently has three successful subscriptions, but I asked Kevin to take us back to the beginning of his subscription box journey. The first lesson Kevin wanted to share with you is that we all have failures. He did, I have, and you will. After Kevin experienced a failure, he spent some time in Hawaii reconnecting with what he loves - the beach and surfing. This love for the beach and outdoor life sparked what turned into an idea for a subscription box. Kevin's first box was for men. The box went through some iterations as they refined their audience and the contents of the box. Over time, it grew into a successful subscription box. Then Kevin and his team decided to add another box, a beach apparel and accessories box for women. Kevin asked his friends to model the items and took the photos himself. It wasn't perfect, but it was more than good enough. Kevin did what needed to be done to get that women's box launched. The result? 1,000 subscribers in the first week! And today they have 25,000 subscribers! The third box came from a desire to add a lower-priced box that would not compete with the women's box. A beauty product box featuring natural, cruelty-free products was the answer. Kevin and his team have learned a LOT through their subscription box journey. You don't get to 25,000 subscribers without gaining knowledge, solving problems, and learning from failures. I asked Kevin to share some advice for subscription box owners, especially those in the early stages of business. His tips included: Understand the core functions of your business. You may hire team members to take over certain tasks, but you need to have that knowledge. Be strategic - look at where your time is best spent today. If you're spending all of your time answering customer service emails or packing boxes, you don't have the time to do the things that will make your business grow. Understand your numbers. When it comes to your business, you need to be a numbers person. Join me for this episode as Kevin and I talk about his journey from 300 to 25,000 subscribers, what's next for Beachly Brands, and his advice for new subscription box owners. THANKS TO ANDREW FOR MAKING THE INTRO SONG. (soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta My Bloody Valentine 3D In the mining town of Harmony, a drilling accident is caused by the son of the owner, Tom Hanniger. The mine collapses, burying six miners alive. The rescue team finds only Harry Warden alive, but in coma, and the other miners murdered by his pickax, and they conclude that Harry killed them to save oxygen for himself. On Valentine's Day, Harry awakes from his coma in the local hospital, and he kills twenty-two people, including a group of teenagers that are partying in the mine. Harry is killed by the deputy, but the only survivors are Tom Hanniger, his girlfriend Sarah, their friend Axel Palmer and his girlfriend Irene. Ten years later, Tom returns to Harmony after the death of his father. Tom has decided to sell the Hanniger Mine, and finds that Sarah has married Axel, who is now the local sheriff, and they have a son named Noah. On Valentine's Day, Harry Warden also returns, seeking revenge against those that had escaped his pickax in the past, and Tom is accused by Axel and other locals, who in turn makes accusations against Axel. My Bloody Valentine 3D is a 2009 American slasher film directed and co-edited by Patrick Lussier, and written by Todd Farmer and Zane Smith from a screen story by Stephen Miller (producer and co-writer of the original film). Serving as a remake of the 1981 Canadian slasher film of the same name, it stars Jensen Ackles, Jaime King, Kerr Smith, Tom Atkins, and Kevin Tighe. The film focuses on the residents of a small town that is plagued by a serial killer in mining gear on Valentine's Day. After filming on location in Pennsylvania, the film was given a 3D theatrical release in the United States by Lionsgate. It was the first R-rated film to be projected in RealD technology and to have a wide release (1,000 locations) in 3D-enabled theaters. My Bloody Valentine 3D was released in the United States on January 16, 2009, by Lionsgate. The film grossed $100.7 million worldwide on a budget of $14 million and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, who praised its performances and production values, but some critics found it to be "formulaic" and "generic", criticizing its screenplay, the wooden characters and the 3-D technology. On Valentine's Day 1997, six miners are trapped underground by an explosion at the Hanniger mine in the small mining community of Harmony. By the time rescuers reach the miners, they find only comatose Harry Warden still alive. Further investigation reveals that Warden killed the other miners to conserve oxygen. Tom Hanniger, son of the mine's owner, is blamed for the explosion as he forgot to vent the methane lines that caused the collapse. One year later, Warden has awakened from his coma and is now murdering as an act of revenge. He starts by killing numerous patients and staff at the hospital where he was a patient, leaving a victim's heart in a box of chocolates. While Tom, his girlfriend Sarah, their friends Irene and Axel, and other teenagers party inside the mine, Warden – wearing mining gear and a gas mask – attacks them with a pickaxe. Sarah, Irene, and Axel escape but Tom is left behind with Warden. Sheriff Burke arrives and shoots Warden before he can kill the severely traumatized Tom, but Warden staggers away deeper into the mine.

If you work 5 days a week, that's 260 days a year. That's $130K, all cash, no taxes. Not too shabby. Even if its only 4 days a week, that's 208 days a year, which is $104K. Not bad for 1989. In 2022, that would be ~$242K.-That's the most well lit dive bar I've ever seen.-Any of yall ever been in a huge brawl like that?-How did Dalton know where to go to rent the room? -Guess Dalton doing Tai Chi is an excuse to get his shirt off?-There isn't much depth to the movie or characters-The standing/walking sex would not be fun...-What're the chances he ends up living across the river from his enemy-This whole thing is just a dick measuring contest between Dalton and Brad-Bigfoot through the car dealership was fun-Pretty decent fight between Dalton and Jimmy; the music was way over dramatic-I love that he kills a guy, and no one does anything. That's how you outsmart cops?-No cops with all the killing until AFTER Brad is killed... Convenient. Top Five Trivia of the movie: Top 5 TriviaIt was announced in September 2015 that this film is to be remade, starring Ronda Rousey. But after her November fight loss to Holly Holm, all movie plans were scrapped. The movie was not filmed in Missouri.Though the plot is set in the town of Jasper, Missouri, Road House's infamous bar, The Double Deuce, was built for on-site filming in California. Some of the bar's interior footage was filmed in a real Anaheim bar that is now closed.Swayze was not a fan of the legendary mullet. As iconic as Swayze's mullet was, the actor referred to his Road House hairstyle as "the bane of my existence" in the biographical book One Last Dance. The NYPD uses the movie's three simple rules during retraining.Patrick, in the role of Dalton, lays down the three rules of the Double Deuce club. In 2015, New York Post exclusively reported that lecture portions of a mandatory, three-day retraining course for cops were being revamped with Road House as a training tool. Swayze's hotness caused problems on set. During shooting, a horde of middle-aged blonde women in a truck tried to pull up in front of the actor's trailer, in a wild attempt to speak with Swayze. During the film's river fight scene, a raft of Swayze fans cruised by. Another time, an extra, who was playing a waitress, was so lovestruck with the heartthrob she tripped and spilled her drinks on an unlucky extra nearby. **TRIPLE LINDY AWARD** **REVIEW AND RATING** TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Sandlot4 Back to the Future5 Mail order brides Chris:1. sandlots2. Zach & Zo hit up a local bar and meet up with their friends Jim O'Donnell (he/him) and Kai Bobbi (they/them) from the Rotten Treasure podcast. As it turns out this bar is rowdy A.F., because this ain't no ordinary bar: it's the Double Deuces! It's a place with a chorus of broken bottles, blues and rock music and the sound of someone having their ribs cracked. It's violence with a side of beer. Good thing that Dalton, the new cooler, has arrived calm things down so that everyone can have a good time. Williamsburg, MI - It started when 43-year-old Kevin Tighe broke into a home in early October. He was chased off by the homeowner, and police tracked him back to his parents home. Kevin made a run for it into nearby woods but had to call for help when he got lost. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today I am joined by Kevin Tighe and Larry Bradley to discuss how the NEBF and NEAP consider per diems. Because no road trip is complete without a few detours, we find our way into discussing much more about the NEBF and NEAP than we planned for. Don't miss this one!
The one where Green Blooded Bastard watches My Bloody Valentine 3D. Pickaxes ripping out hearts and a dude with a broken reality, a semi corrupt cock from down by the Creek, and Kevin Tighe... sold!
Today we talk about the wonderful world of French cuisine with Kevin Tighe. Kevin's new restaurant, Tighe's Bistro Americain , opened in June. Kevin Tighe has been working in the restaraunt world for almost 50 years and this restaurant is a long held dream come true. Ray Graf hosts.
The 10th episode of Cultpix Radio WCPX 66.6 Smut Pedler and Django Nudo (with a faulty microphone - sorry) take a journey into the psychedelic 60s and 70s of drugs films, celebrate Cultpix now being open for everyone to join and look at the new films on the site.Cultpix radio has been open to the general public for a week and with the exception of being pulled into the global Firstly outage (in good company with Spotify and CNN) things have been going moothly and the feedback has been encouraging. We look at how Netflix and others are copying us in terms of moving into merchandise, podcasts, celebrity birthdays and more - because clearly nobody was doing it before us (-;Cultpix has sold out and become part of the establishment as Swedish Film Institute has awarded us a grant to enable us to do more innovative stuff. We dive back into what drugs does to filmmaking. This is your cinema brain on drugs part 2: First we do an Alice double bill. Alice in Acidland who "travels through the dark and endless caverns of Acidland. The place for her is no fairytale." But it does features lesbian seduction and hippie nudity and sex. Meanwhile the short Curious Alice was produced by a US government agency to warn eight-year olds about the dangers of drugs but ends up being a trippy and fun Terry Gilliam-esque animation. A trio of films from our friends Something Weird video all tap into the drug/hippie hysteria of the late 1960s. Psychadelic Sexkicks, Wild Hippie Party, The Acid Eaters. On the more serious end Alex de Renzy's Weed looks at the whole political, legal and cultural ecosystem around weeds and drugs in the early 1970s. He is better known for later directing porn classics such as Pretty Peaches and Babyface. Perhaps the best anti-drug documentary is the hard hitting A Day in the Death of Donny B. which looks at the damage heroine does to black people and communities, done in cinema verite style with a downbeat groove. Worth 11 minutes of your time. More typical for US anti-drug propaganda is the white middle class student who goes wrong with drugs, as in Narcotics: Pit of Despair, though at least the film was not the usual kiss of death for the career of the lead Kevin Tighe who went on to star in Lost and K-9. More mainstream drug portrayal can be found in Ivan Passer's Born to Win in which George Segal (who passed away this year) , Karen Black and a very young Robert DeNiro, all drift around Time's Square hustling and looking to score. Finally a side of Rome that tourists did not get to see gets exposed in Don't Count on Us from Penny Video (Ciao Simone!). Finally we talk about some of the new films on the site and there are quite a few this week. Line Six/Linje Sex shares a lot of creative talent with Terror in the Midnight Sun. We have Josefine Mutzenbacher Part 1 and Part 2 in English and German; The XYZ of Love; Piranha; Project Kill and The Secret Dreams of Mona Q. Do check them out and stay tuned for more soon.
Is the only good cop a dog cop? Possibly, see if this question and more are answered this week as we are joined by friend of the pod Elyse to discuss her favorite subject, dogs, and talk about some movies too. Welcome back to another episode on As The Rotor Turns! This episode is the first of many to have a video to go along with it. You can still listen like normal, but if you'd like to see the video, head on over to the Patreon Page. Also, There were some technical difficulties that led to missed content and sound issues You will notice that as you are listening, there is a much better quality that was recorded properly, and then you will notice a couple of spots where the audio is not so great. The podcast also gets cut short and the end wasn't recorded. We apologize for the mishap. Ryan has decided to only drink at his pace from now on, and not anybody else's.

I review the film Matewan written and directed by John Sayles. The film is based on the true story of the 1920 Matewan Massacre involving West Virgina Coal Miners attempting to unionize vs. the coal mining company that owned the town of Matewan. The cast includes James Earl Jones, Mary McDonnell, David Strathairn, Kevin Tighe, Gordon Clapp and Chris Cooper in his film debut.
You've been spoilt for choice with interviews recently on the show and now it's time to be spoilt once more as we sit down with the legendary Kevin Tighe to chat about his career and most importantly his epic role on Lost that had so many people despising him as one of the biggest villains the show ever saw! Just why has Kevin never done an interview about Lost before? How did he manage to get the role and why did he very nearly not do it? What did he like about working with Terry O'Quinn? Why was his role extra challenging than what he expected? What part of his character did he want to change to make him more likeable? And where does his time on Lost rank amongst his other iconic roles he has had in his career? If you love Lost then you'll love this interview so don't miss it!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Did Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile live up to the hype? ...Not quite. Jeb rejoined me to discuss Berlinger's scripted take on Ted Bundy, or more accurately Bundy's corrosive effect on one of his living victims, his longtime girlfriend Liz Kendall. Did the film do what it set out to, or was the dark gravitational pull of the killer himself too strong? Should Terrence Malick have taken a run at the material? And what's with those lazy music cues? But Zac Efron's performance is pretty good...which is more than you can say for anyone's in the 1996 miniseries remake of In Cold Blood starring Anthony Edwards, Eric Roberts, and Kevin Tighe as Herb Clutter. It's slow, it seems table-read-y, the director -- veteran of several thrillers -- can't make it thrilling, and I for one found myself wishing I were watching something else...specifically, the Clutter-murders documentary Joe Berlinger made a while back. The Bickersons may never be your new regular Saturday night thing, but they are back with 1989's Road House, a movie with more mullets per capita than a hockey camp in 1992. Ali realizes it's the same shit in a different location. Jon knows that pain don't hurt. But can they get out from under the polar bear in time to finally release another podcast? Road House stars The Swayze, The Swayze's Mullet, Sam Elliott, Sam Elliott's Mane, Kelly Lynch, Ben Gazzara, Jeff Healey, Kevin Tighe, "Sunshine" Parker, and Keith David in a part so small Jon forgot to mention it. Oh, and probably every single stuntman they could round up. It was directed by Rowdy Herrington, the only director whose name aptly describes his fight scenes.
When Marvin was recently strolling the bilingual boulevards of Montreal, Canada he visited the workshop of Greenfield Guitars* to interview some of that city’s best musicians. Composer and studio musician Kevin Tighe is one of those outstanding people. Kevin's specialty is creating music that underscores television and theatre productions. Although Kevin doesn’t perform his own work live in public, his compositions have been heard by millions of people around the world! His unique success in music and the media industry is based on relationships. Human connections. Knowing people who know people who need the kind of work that Kevin can produce. You’ll hear why Kevin considers professional resumes irrelevant. And how the new and constantly expanding digital music libraries offer both opportunities and challenges to musicians. And the importance of becoming familiar with collecting the royalties due to composers based on how often their music is used. Kevin’s practical approach to his craft and his advice to you echoes one of this podcast’s recurring themes: Monetizing Your Creativity is do-able. Not necessarily easy. But do-able. Kevin Tighe tells you how he’s done it. *Listen to Episode 098 as Michael Greenfield describes making and selling custom guitars for the stars, including Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones!
