Are we still hot for Lasat? In this episode of Dark Side Divas we discuss the Star Wars Rebels episode "Legends of Lasat." (s2e14) We meet the ghost crew with Ezra leading a rescue mission, but he never mentioned who his contact was. I'm sure everything is just fine! We finally hear about Zeb's backstory, and one of our favorite Star Wars characters makes an appearance. Listen to hear what the divas have to say. As we return from the midseason finale, we get a trio of episodes that represent the three major emerging categories of Star Wars Rebels stories so far. One is a story driven by a cameo from the larger Star Wars universe. Another is a big swing at some brand new worldbuilding and an exploration into tone and style that is totally brand new for the show. And the third is, unfortunately (and of course), a lackluster Sabine episode that doesn't even have the decency to give her credit for her own good ideas. Ah well, maybe next time! In our two backstory episodes this week, we gain allies, freedom from self-recrimination, and some of the best music Rebels has to offer. Hop in, we're going on a field trip! “The Protector of Concord Dawn” (Rebels S2, Ep. 13) asks the Rebels to decide whether to show force or try diplomacy to win new allies against the Empire. Unfortunately, they're both dangerous games, and Kanan and Sabine have to pull literal Western saloon hijinks just to stay alive. Changing gears entirely (because Hondo Ohnaka stole our transmission), “Legends of the Lasat” (Rebels S2, Ep. 14) puts Zeb center stage. In a beautiful and thrilling ode to Force magic, we explore prophecy, freedom, and the Lasat promised land. And we reference the Anakin Injured arc from Season 1 of the Clone Wars, because we always do. Want even more Growing Up Skywalker? This is a great time to sign up for our Patreon for bonus audio content! We're now taking suggestions on what to watch after we finish Visions Season 2.
All of season 2 has revolved around the Jedi and reuniting Grogu with them. With boba, bo katan and Ashoka showing up, I can't imagine who will arrive next. While I want to see Luke Skywalker again more than anything, I have to say one Jedi I do think could answer the call from Grogu on Tython is Cal Kestis. There are a few reasons that he in particular might come, and I think it'll make a lot of sense once you reach the end of my explanations. Cal Kestis was a Jedi who survived order 66, this puts him as a possible candidate for knowing who Grogu was, especially seeing as how he was quite young when it happened, around the age of 12. Which makes him 17 once fallen order happens, which is 5 years after revenge of the Sith. I don't think he was the one who saved Grogu, but they might have known each other, and shared a strong connection. Cal had a power called Psychometry. This was a super rare ability granted to very few Jedi. One other Jedi who had this, was Quinlan Voss who used it in the clone wars. Psychometry is the power of seeing the history of an object upon first touching it. If Cal were to sense the familiarity of Grogu's presence reaching out on the seeing stone in the force, he would answer the call. He'd arrive on Tython and even though the dark troopers took Grogu to Moff Gideon, and Mando Boba and Fennec had left, all he'd need to do was touch the seeing stone to get a flash of everything that had just happened there. He'd see and feel what Grogu saw and felt. He would go over to the crater of the Razor crest's remains, and he would touch the scorched earth, only to feel who destroyed the ship that belonged to Din Djarrin. He would sense the urgency of the matter, and he would answer the call of duty. Another reason it could be Cal, is because Jedi Fallen order ended in the beautiful realization that force sensitive children who escaped Order 66 are still out there in the galaxy, and Jedi Fallen Order 2 will basically be that story of him finding these lost younglings and padawans throughout the galaxy. Cal's Jedi Master, who unfortunately died, while protecting the young Cal Kestis from the clone troopers, a Lasat male named Jaro Tapal, taught his padawan how to be courageous and focus on the good things in the galaxy, but also how to embrace failure as a learning opportunity. Because of his Master's teaching, Cal spends his time helping others and trusting in the Force which is what lead him to Jedi Knight Cere Junda and her mission to secretly restore the Jedi Order. Morgan Elsbeth. During the Clone Wars, her people were massacred. She survived, and let her anger fuel an industry which helped build the Imperial Starfleet. She plundered worlds, destroying them in the process. Could she be in charge of some line of the Kuat Drive Yards. Now check this, one of the artists who did Inosanto's hair and makeup was done by Maria Sandoval. According to Sandoval, Elsbeth was one of the last survivors of Dathomir. Dathomir played a large chapter in Jedi Fallen Order with Merrin. Merrin must have known Elsbeth as well. There are a lot of connections between these people in such a large galaxy that makes me really think Cal could actually show up. Grogu sits on the seeing stone, which lights up in the ancient runes that we see all throughout Jedi Fallen Order. Like was Grogu saving his progressing and adding to his skill tree atop the stone? The lore being used is one and the same I think, so it actually makes me think, Cal might be just as logical of a Jedi to arrive, than Luke. In fact, maybe even more logical. He could show up in the end, only to help save the day, and name drop master Skywalker, who has sent him to recruit lost force sensitives throughout the galaxy. The only problem is, they'll have to kill Cal Kestis off before the sequels start, otherwise it'd be too weird with him not around if he ends up being part of the story. This is a "clip heavy" episode. If I felt the disturbance in the Force, I went with it. The Pirate finally reveals where Moff Gideon ISN'T, which is what we all figured. The Armorer still doesn't have a name, but she elevates Bo-Katan and House Kryze to the heights of Mandalore...if she has that authority, but I mean, who is she, really? Zeb is back. Well, he was back for a couple of lines and we might not see him again anytime soon, but HEY! Live action Lasat! We are all out of trailer footage. Fresh out folks. We are officially flyin' blind for the last three episodes. The good news? Bryce Dallas Howard is up next. Peter Ramsey...nice job with Chapter 21, but we have GOT to talk with Joseph Shirley and the sound mixers about too much noise. I want to hear the dialogue better. Just me? Nobody else feels that way? We started the season with Din Djarin on a quest. Now it looks like we're wrapping up the last half of the season by giving Bo-Katan one of her own. Hey...This is the Way! Pirate King Gorian Shard returns to Nevarro forcing Greef Karga to call out for help. The New Republic is a no-show but Din Djarin and the Mandalorians, led by Bo-Katan, come to the rescue. Plus a certain purple Lasat makes his live-action debut. The Bad Batch finale gave us an emotional two-parter. Betrayal, secrets, and death followed the Batch as they tried to save one of their own. In today's episode, Rebels Recap - S02-E14 - Protectors Of Concord Dawn. The LSR crew has a hilarious discussion about Star Wars Rebels season 2 episode 14, Legends Of The Lasat. Thanks to intel from the space pirate Hondo, the Ghost crew rescues two Lasat from Imperial clutches. These survivors believe Zeb is the key to a prophecy that will lead to a new home for their kind -- but Zeb, conflicted and ashamed of his failure to save Lasan, has little faith. How will the crew rate this episode? Does it have enough depth as an episode to send it into the Star Wars hall of fame, or did it leave the crew disappointed? Did it give us enough info to make some predictions or did it just leave us hanging? Plus some news about what's going on in the star wars universe and a look at the new Mandalorian season 3 teaser trailer. As well as the Andor official trailer and the Tails Of The Jedi official trailer. What will be the crew's reaction? This is one of those episodes you don't want to miss. Reaction Corps was lost for a while to that Great Pit of Carkoon known as the whirlwind lead-up and post-show glory-basking of The Force Awakens. But just like Boba Fett (probably) (but actually probably not), Reaction Corps has jet-packed itself free from the slimy maw of the all-powerful Sarlacc. What was the impetus for this great escape? The brilliance known as "The Honorable Ones" on Star Wars: Rebels. "The Legend of the Lasat" was almost enough to pull us out, though. In fact, we basically did a mini Reaction Corps on episode #27: Happabore Backwash, complete with a music cue and everything. Anyway, since it had been a while, we first did a quick re-cap of season 2 so far. Then we dove right into the intricacies of The Honorable Ones. We talk about the construction modules around Geonosis and how they bear a striking resemblance to Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the Death Star(s) II. Check out the show guide on our website to see the images: http://childrenoftheforce.com/2016/03/01/reaction-corps-rebels-the-honorable-ones/ As we discuss the episode, questions arise: How did the Empire know the Rebels were coming? Just how common is the word "sleemo" in that galaxy far, far away? Why doesn't the Geonosian queen from the Vader comic show up on their bio scans? Was it weird to see Kallus and Zeb just sitting there talking to each other? Did it make sense? It's true that Zeb and Kallus are honorable to each other and themselves, but what about the factions they belong to? Is Zeb honoring his Rebel friends when he doesn't take Kallus into custody? Does Kallus honor his vow to serve the Empire when he doesn't kill the rebel Zeb? This personal reconciliation between enemies could have drastic effects down the road. What will happen the next time Zeb and Kallus meet? What will happen if their respective factions find out what they did (or didn't do, in this case)? But on the positive side, could Kallus become an informant on the Empire? Could he join the Rebels? Why does Admiral Constantine disregard Kallus at the end? What will his life in the Empire be like now? Why does he keep the meteorite? Final question: Could Kallus and Zeb both leave their factions and have their own odd couple adventures? He’s a neat freak who’s a stickler for the rules. He’s a shedding Lasat who likes to put his feet up. Coming this fall to ABC Family, it's Imp and the Lasat. Only five more episodes left in season 2! Thanks for reading and listening! Send us a voicemail or email us at forcechildren@gmail.com if you want to take part in the discussion or just give us some feedback.

Have you gone back to watch the 6 films of the Star Wars Saga after seeing The Force Awakens? What did you think? What did you feel? With all the new movies, comics, novels and TV shows that fill in gaps or show a different POV, it can change the way we look at the films. Richard and Sarah explore those changes with special guests Bryan Young (Full of Sith, Starwars.com) and Chris Salton (Brews and Blasters, The Collector's Hutt). You'll never watch Han and Leia's love scene the same way again! (30:37) Next up, Impressions: The Music of Star Wars Rebels, where we analyze Kevin Kiner's score. On this episode we analyze "Legends of the Lasat" with our special guest, Tricia Barr (Fangirls Going Rogue, FANgirl Blog). This was the episode where our Ghost crew encountered an anomaly on the edge of known space, and had to use Zeb's leadership to get through. The music was so unusual and engaging, with those bare strings, we HAD to talk about it. (1:37:15) Also on this episode: The ALL-TIME AWARDS! It's time to get voting!
