Your brain may be stuck in survival mode. That could be why fatigue, brain fog, and poor sleep refuse to budge no matter what you try. People with Long COVID, ME/CFS, and chronic fatigue often do everything right: clean up their diet, run labs, try every supplement, and they still don't recover. In this conversation, Patrick Porter, PhD, founder of BrainTap, explains why nervous system regulation may be the piece that keeps getting skipped. We cover how stress recovery, brainwave training, sleep quality, and brain fitness affect energy production, mental clarity, and the body's ability to heal. In this episode, you'll learn: Why chronic stress is often less of a problem than a lack of recovery How nervous system dysregulation can keep the body stuck in fight-or-flight mode The connection between brainwaves, energy production, and brain fog Why sleep quality matters more than simply spending more hours in bed How light, sound, and brainwave training are used to support neuroplasticity Practical strategies that may help improve focus, resilience, recovery, and sleep Guest: Patrick Porter, PhD is an award-winning author, speaker, and founder of BrainTap, a neuroscience-based platform specializing in brain fitness, neuroplasticity, and brainwave entrainment technology. Can nervous system regulation help chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and long COVID symptoms like brain fog, crashes, and fatigue? What if the root issue is a hypersensitive nervous system stuck in survival mode rather than another protocol you need to stack? On this episode of the She Talks Health Podcast, I sat down with Miguel Bautista, founder of CFS Recovery, to talk about nervous system-driven chronic conditions and why “doing more” can backfire when your system is already overwhelmed. Miguel shared his personal recovery story from years of escalating symptoms, being bedridden and then hospitalized, and the turning point when a doctor finally explained that his symptoms weren't random, but signals from a nervous system on high alert. We talked about how long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia can look incredibly similar, often differing mainly by the trigger, and why trying to overdo recovery can actually flare symptoms even more. Miguel explained the “nervous system threshold” idea, when life stressors, perfectionism, and self-pressure max out your capacity, your body starts sending louder signals to force a slowdown. We also unpacked why your response to symptoms matters so much for nervous system regulation. Fear, frustration, and catastrophic thinking can fuel the same loop that keeps symptoms going — and that's why we always say to stop obsessively Googling your symptoms! We also discussed how recovery becomes more predictable through education, stopping the cycle of obsessive symptom tracking, and gradually building physical, cognitive, and emotional capacity through repeatable “progress cycles.” If you've been dealing with chronic fatigue, a dysregulated nervous system, chronic stress, or any symptom that has you feeling stuck with no clear answers, this episode will shed so much light on what could possibly going on. I hope this episode points you toward chronic fatigue recovery and a more symptom-free future. Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. The speaker explains how constant stimulation from phones, information overload, and lack of intentional rest are keeping people trapped in “fight or flight” mode, affecting sleep, digestion, anxiety, focus, and long-term health. Through practical tools like breathwork, sleep planning, micro-breaks, movement, magnesium-rich nutrition, and reclaiming personal “space,” the episode emphasizes that recovery is not a luxury but a daily practice. The core message is that stress is often less about external circumstances and more about how we react—and that small, consistent habits can dramatically improve mental clarity, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.#WellnessPodcast#StressManagement#SleepHealth#MindsetShift#HealthyHabitshttps://ontargetliving.com

Dr. Tony breaks down why this is not a muscular problem, not something kids simply grow out of, and not solved by more reps in PT. He explains the true neurological root cause — subluxation and disrupted sensory input — and lays out the exact care plan, technique approach, and team-building strategy that gets these kiddos moving, thriving, and reaching their full athletic and academic potential. Want your patients' brains to feel younger for longer? In this episode, we explore neuro longevity through a practitioner lens with chiropractor and naturopath Damien Kristof - challenging the idea that better brain health comes from adding more hacks. Instead, Damien unpacks a clear hierarchy: heal the nervous system from the top down and inside out, remove interference, and let the body do what it's designed to do.Drawing on decades of clinical practice and lessons from Blue Zones like Icaria and Sardinia, we examine why purpose ignites the brain, community keeps it resilient, and daily, natural movement consistently outperforms punishing exercise. Nutrition still matters - but it's the unsexy fundamentals that protect mitochondria and calm inflammation: adequate protein, fibre-rich and colourful plants, and stable blood sugar.Together, we map seven pillars that shape health span, not just lifespan: purpose, engagement, movement, nutrition, community, spirituality, and finance. You'll hear why spirituality provides nervous system perspective, how financial security reduces chronic stress load, and why social connection is one of the most under-prescribed neuroprotective tools. We also tackle Australia's “last twelve years” problem and how habit-first, systems-based care can help patients age better, not just longer. From a clinical standpoint, Damien reframes nutrients as messengers and building blocks rather than fixes, explains the value of tracking trends over ninety days, and shares simple, practical strategies to support vagal tone through posture and breath. For targeted support, we discuss calming nervines for wired-tired states and spotlight emerging evidence on saffron for neuroinflammation and mood support. The key takeaway for practitioners: build a life—and a care plan—that protects the nervous system first, then layer in supplements and herbs with precisionConnect with Damian: Damian Kristof | Wellness ProfessionalShownotes and references are available on the Designs for Health websiteRegister as a Designs for Health Practitioner and discover quality practitioner- only supplements at www.designsforhealth.com.au Follow us on Socials Instagram: Designsforhealthaus Facebook: Designsforhealthaus DISCLAIMER: The Information provided in the Wellness by Designs podcast is for educational purposes only; the information presented is not intended to be used as medical advice; please seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional if what you have heard here today raises questions or concerns relating to your health

Hi friends! I have a brand new podcast episode live, and today we're diving into a topic that so many women are confused about but deeply affected by: perimenopause. I'm joined by the amazing mother-daughter duo, Candace and Jess from Your Hormone Balance, and we're breaking down what perimenopause actually is, why it can start earlier than most women expect, and how chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation play a huge role in hormone imbalances, fatigue, mood swings, weight gain, and more. This episode is especially for you if you're in your 30s or 40s, feeling "off" in your body, struggling with sleep, energy, anxiety, or changes in your cycle - and being told everything is "normal." Here's what we chat about: What perimenopause really is (and why it's an 8–10 year transition, not a single moment) The early signs of perimenopause, including changes in your cycle, mood, sleep, and energy Why progesterone is often the first hormone to decline — and how that impacts anxiety, PMS, and stress tolerance How chronic stress, overworking, under-eating, and people-pleasing disrupt ovulation and hormone balance The connection between nervous system dysregulation and symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, bloating, and low libido Why so many women are estrogen dominant — and how stress drives that imbalance The importance of hormone testing (and why symptoms alone don't tell the full story) Simple, realistic nervous system practices to lower cortisol and support healing Breathwork techniques like the "physiological sigh" to calm anxiety in real time Everyday vagus nerve tools: humming, singing, grounding, and gentle movement How boundaries, asking for help, and reducing people-pleasing can literally improve your hormones Why heavy, painful, or irregular periods are not something you should ignore The role of protein, nourishment, and avoiding extremes with exercise and caffeine This episode is such a powerful reminder that your body isn't broken;  it's responding to the life you're living. And with the right tools, support, and awareness, you can move through perimenopause feeling calmer, stronger, more regulated, and more in tune with your body. I hope you enjoy this episode! Nervous System 101: What Chiropractic Really Does and How to "Reset" Stress Response | Conversations with a Chiropractor Episode Description In this solo episode of Conversations with a Chiropractor, Dr. Stephanie Wautier tackles a question that still floats around out there: is chiropractic "scientific," and what does it really have to do with stress relief? It starts with a surprising grocery store comment and turns into a clear, practical breakdown of the nervous system, what chiropractors are actually assessing, and why the spine matters for both the central and peripheral nervous system. Stephanie explains the difference between the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (the network of nerves leaving the spinal cord), then zooms in on the autonomic nervous system, the part most people are talking about when they say "fight or flight" and "rest and digest." She also clears up a common misconception: every chiropractor is working with the nervous system, regardless of technique, because the goal is the same, reduce interference and restore communication. From there, this episode turns into a toolkit. You'll hear simple, doable ways to support a stressed-out system, including breathing patterns that cue safety, sensory grounding, rhythmic movement, vagus nerve stimulators like humming and gargling, and sleep habits that help your body actually power down at night.

More often, it surfaces quietly through things like physical symptoms, emotional exhaustion, and a slow erosion of joy. This episode centers on how living out of alignment impacts the nervous system, the body, and long-term wellbeing, especially for high-functioning, purpose-driven people.A real world story illustrates how mental and emotional strain can accumulate beneath the surface, eventually manifesting as physical consequences that can no longer be ignored. The pattern is familiar: years of “shoulds,” pushing, and over-leveraging… followed by a moment when the body draws a hard line. This conversation is especially relevant for anyone interested in nervous system regulation, mind-body medicine, integrative health, or understanding how unresolved stress and trauma affect the body over time. In this powerful Ask Dr. Tony episode, Dr. Tony Ebel addresses the recent wave of anti-chiropractic content flooding social media from conventional medical doctors. Rather than responding with anger, Dr. Tony offers a thoughtful, science-based perspective on why natural, neurologically-focused healthcare is exploding in popularity—and why some in the medical community feel threatened by it.Dr. Tony emphasizes that this isn't about "us versus them," but about giving families effective options. He shares his deep respect for emergency medicine (which saved his son Oliver's life) while making a compelling case for why drug-free, neurological approaches should be the first line of defense for chronic conditions. Dr. Tony Ebel addresses one of the most common challenges facing families with chronically ill children: healing interventions overload. Many parents are managing multiple therapies, dozens of supplements, and restrictive diets while feeling like nothing works and their child remains stuck or regresses.Dr. Tony reveals the counterintuitive truth that the most advanced healing approach is "less is more." He explains how well-intentioned interventions can overwhelm a child's already stressed nervous system. The solution is a three-phase approach: Phase 1 focuses exclusively on foundational Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care, Phase 2 gradually reintroduces therapies, and Phase 3 is where breakthrough healing occurs. In this episode of Ask Dr. Tony, Dr. Tony Ebel breaks down the modern understanding of subluxation and how it affects children's neurological development. Moving beyond the outdated "pinched nerve" theory, Dr. Tony explains how subluxation is actually a sensory input problem that creates "noisy brain syndrome" in children with autism, ADHD, and anxiety. He reveals why the brain itself is typically fine in these children - it's getting bad information due to fixation and reduced proprioception from spinal misalignment. Dr. Tony emphasizes that the neuromotor system's input is more crucial to brain function than gut health, challenging common assumptions about childhood developmental challenges. This episode provides hope for parents by explaining that their children's brains have all the necessary components to heal and function properly once the interference is addressed.-----Links & Resources:For a deeper understanding of subluxation and its effect on children's health: Read this article-----Key Topics & Timestamps([00:01:00]) - The Sequence of Subluxation: From Physical Trauma to Misalignment([00:02:00]) - Old vs. New Theory: Moving Beyond the "Pinched Nerve" Model([00:04:00]) - The Real Issue: Subluxation as a Sensory Input Problem([00:05:00]) - Hope for Parents: The Brain is Fine, It's Just Getting Bad Information([00:06:00]) - Noisy Brain Syndrome: Why Kids Can't Hear Instructions-- Follow us on Socials: Instagram: @pxdocs Facebook: Dr. Tony Ebel & The PX Docs Network Youtube: The PX Docs For more information, visit PXDocs.com to read informative articles about the power of Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care.
