Iran-backed Houthi rebels are on a rapid offensive in Yemen, seizing the port of Mokha and the islands of Mayun, Perim, and Hanish, all in or around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world's most important oil chokepoints. A former Pentagon official called it "the cork in the Red Sea bottle," warning it threatens Saudi oil exports and could push global fuel prices up. Trump has threatened "major military punishment" for Iran over future attacks. Is the world's oil supply now in rebel hands?
Question posée par le Wall Street Journal.
In this solo episode of the Not Your Mother's Menopause Podcast, Dr. Fiona Lovely provides a vital and compassionate guide to the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM). She begins by explaining that the GSM is a spectrum of symptoms affecting the genitourinary tract due to declining estrogen and androgenic hormones (like testosterone and DHEA) during the menopause transition. Dr. Lovely details the common yet often unspoken symptoms, which can include vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary urgency, recurrent bladder infections, and changes in libido and sensation. She emphasizes that these changes are not something to suffer through in silence and offers clear, actionable solutions. We discuss treatment using low-dose vaginal estrogen, a safe and effective option for nearly everyone that directly addresses the root cause of tissue thinning and fragility. Dr. Lovely provides practical application advice and recommends specific formulations. Beyond treatment, she encourages open communication with our sex partners to navigate changing intimacy needs and suggests speaking with employers about necessary accommodations if symptoms affect work. This episode is an empowering call to seek compassionate care and prioritize quality of life, no matter where you are in the menopause landscape. Thank you to our sponsors for this episode:

Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Today I welcome Sarah Kennedy, founder and CEO of Calocurb, for an insightful conversation demystifying weight management and appetite modulation, particularly in the context of perimenopause and menopause. Discover the physiological changes women experience at midlife, the often-frustrating weight gain, and the truth behind cravings and willpower. Key Discussion Points: The Menopause Weight Struggle is Real: Many women experience frustrating weight gain during perimenopause, with the SWAN study indicating an average gain of 22 pounds. Often, the advice given is simply to eat less, which overlooks significant physiological shifts. Physiological Changes at Midlife: Understand the impact of dropping estrogen levels, decreasing metabolism, changes in fat distribution (visceral fat), and increased insulin resistance during perimenopause. The Myth of Willpower: Learn why hunger and eating are primal, biologically controlled instincts originating in the hypothalamus. Stress, hormones, lack of sleep, and alcohol can easily override frontal lobe willpower. The Importance of Protein and Muscle Mass: Maintaining muscle mass is crucial during menopause to prevent sarcopenia and frailty. Ensure adequate protein intake (around 120 grams for post-menopausal/perimenopausal women is suggested) and engage in resistance exercise. This is especially important when using one of the weight-loss injectables. Sarah Kennedy's Story: Sarah shares her personal journey of yo-yo dieting and how Calocurb (a GLP-1 activator) has positively changed her relationship with food. Her background in R&D for a major dairy company also highlights her passion for protein and muscle health. Hope for Post-Menopause: Sarah offers an encouraging perspective, sharing that she is the same size now as she was at 25 and feels at peace. Many women find that life gets better on the other side of menopause. This episode provides a comprehensive look at the physiological factors influencing weight during menopause and explores a natural, scientifically-backed approach to appetite modulation with a GLP-1 activator like Calocurb. It emphasises that hunger is not simply a matter of willpower and offers hope and practical strategies for managing weight and cravings at midlife and beyond. Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Uterine fibroids are a very common concern for women who are still menstruating. They are the cause of extreme and chronic pain, heavy bleeding and there aren't great treatment options available. Today I welcome Dr Suzanne LeBlang to the show to discuss a novel therapy for treatment of fibroids - focused ultrasound. I had never heard about this treatment until Dr. LeBlang shared her knowledge. This conversation highlights how the non-invasive technique can treat uterine fibroids using thermal ablation, without the need for incisions or injections. This is also available for many other health concerns such as thyroid nodules, Parkinson's disease, breast tumours, tremors and others. It has been FDA approved since 2004. Overall, this episode underscores the importance of non-invasive treatment options for women's health concerns, with focused ultrasound emerging as a promising alternative for various conditions. Dr. LeBlang is the Director of Clinical Relationships at the Focused Ultrasound Foundation (FUS) and was trained as a neuroradiologist. You can find out more about this treatment option at fusfoundation.org or on Instagram here. Thank you to our sponsors for this episode:

She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Many of us have heard that magnesium is important for our health, but have we heard why? Dr. Greg Kelly returns to the show in this episode to discuss the powerhouse of magnesium. Turns out, you cannot go wrong by adding magnesium to your supplements! More than 50% of us are deficient and the kind of magnesium you want to supplement with, can be confusing. Not all magnesium is the same and the bioavailability makes a huge difference. We discuss the role of magnesium in aging hallmarks, in energy production, in brain health and menstrual health too. Magnesium protects us from the effects of chronic stress too. Dr. Kelly and I also discuss the role of Akkermansia in the microbiome of people who have smaller bodies and whether therapy with it can help solve the conundrum of weight for some of us. This is an exciting development! Greg also shares the updates to cellular senescence - cellular aging, the right cutting edge of anti-aging medicine. We talk about muscle stem cells and more. In this episode of the Suite Spot, the head of marketing at Springboard Hospitality, Jason Pirock sits down with podcast host, Ryan Embree, to discuss the incredible Springboard Hospitality brand, exciting hotel developments, social media strategies, and much more. Tune in now to learn more about what makes the Springboard Hospitality brand one-of-a-kind. Ryan Embree: Welcome to Suite Spot, where hoteliers check-in, and we check out what's trending in hotel marketing. I'm your host, Ryan Embee. Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Suite Spot. This is your host, as always, Ryan Embree continuing our TMG Hospitality Trailblazers series. We've done quite a few of this, but if this is your first time hearing it to set up the series, this is all about those individuals, brands, management companies, all paving a way forward for our hospitality industry. Trailblazing a path, and we have a great guest with me. It's certainly an embodiment of a TMG hospitality Trailblazer, Jason Pirock, head of marketing at Springboard Hospitality. Jason, thank you so much for taking the time. Jason Pirock: Yeah, thank you for having me. Ryan Embree: Now, I asked this on every single Trailblazer episode. Always get a different answer. But since this is your first time being on the Suite Spot, we love to hear stories about how you made it into hospitality. Sometimes we just fall into it as a career. Sometimes we went to school for it. What was the hospitality journey that led you to Springboard Hospitality? Jason Pirock: Yeah, absolutely. So I probably have more of a non-traditional background when it comes to hospitality here. A lot of folks have sort of been in the industry for their entire career for a very long time. I actually started my career in retail coming out of college. I was recruited to work for Target Corporate in Minneapolis. And so I started off in merchandising there actually merchandise presentation, which was at the time their entry level marketing. They didn't really have an easy way to get into the actual marketing department, but that was the closest point. And then spent some time with Target and moved into marketing and then found my way through a, a few other companies throughout the years, Sears Corporate. I worked for a company called Brookfield Retail, formerly, uh, General Growth Properties. And then I had sort of a reflection point in my career where as much as I was having fun with retail and liked it that's all I knew. And that's all I had done. And I knew that I was super passionate about travel, I loved hotels, all aspects about it. The experience, the design just always gave me such a great feeling. And so I thought, I wanna try out hospitality, I wanna move into that space. And I was very fortunate to find an opportunity with Hyatt Hotels, their corporate office out of Chicago. And so spent some time there, then moved over to a company called a Perim Hotel Group and helped them build their marketing department and marketing team. And that actually is part of what led me to Springboard. Springboard was looking to sort of revolutionize their, their marketing department, really rebuild it, take it to the next level. And they found me as someone who had, had done that with Perim. And so here I am today. Ryan Embree: Yeah. And let's talk about that role that you have of head of marketing, this being a digital marketing podcast, I'm sure there's a lot of hotel marketers that are just getting started in their career. Talk to us a little bit about your role as head of marketing and really the story as marketers. We love telling stories, right? Of Springboard Hospitality. Jason Pirock: Yeah. Well, I'll start with with Springboard Hospitality. We own, operate, and develop hotels, restaurants, and bars all around the country. We've got about 50 hotels in 14 states, and we're predominantly in destinations, sort of urban environments as well. And we're truly across the whole U.S.

She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Cooking, wildfire smoke, pollution, fragrance and mold. Things I didn't think would ever be discussed much on the NYMM podcast, but in doing the research for this interview with Mike Feldstein, I realized, I have been remiss by not discussing the effects of these things on our overall health. Addressing these things in our home environment can make massive change when we don't feel great. Mike Feldstein is an Air Quality expert and has decades of experience working in restoration and remediation. He brings this expertise to the table along with some very interesting stories. In a study that JASPR did recently, monitoring the group of 125 people with sleep trackers, he found that when the bedroom air was clean and filtered, the participants fell asleep quicker, had 18% deeper sleep and 25% more sleep. Mike calls clean air "sleep fuel" and he is onto something there. Listen in to this fascinating conversation to learn more to get better sleep and optimize your health! Keskiaikana alueelle rakennettiin Kodjalan puukirkko. Keskiajan jälkeen kirkon paikka vaipui unholaan. Kodjalan kirkkoa on etsitty Lukkalan tilan mailta vuodesta 2016 lähtien. Kiinalaistutkija He Jiankui muokkasi heidän perimäänsä alkiovaiheessa siten, että he ovat vastustuskykyisiä HI-virukselle. Tällaisia hoitoja on jo käytössä. Toimittaja on Mari Heikkilä.
