The health-care logistics market is growing at a faster pace than the general freight market and has become an attractive vertical for providers of freight transportation services. The inherently complex nature of these supply chains due to cargo temperature requirements and safety concerns can warrant higher margins relative to other end markets. In this Talking Transports podcast, Joel Wayment, vice president of 3PL services at Cardinal Health, joins Lee Klaskow, Bloomberg Intelligence senior transportation and logistics analyst, to share his insights about the challenges and opportunities facing health-care supply chains. Wayment also provided his insights into technology innovations, regulations, fraud prevention and how the winner of the Super Bowl could affect the flow of critical goods.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
“The expectation was we want to chase this and put her on the line in a way to be able to compete. Physically, I think things went really smooth. This is probably the best build she's had in the eight years I've coached her. Mentally, it probably wasn't the best build. There were some battles that she faced and the race never tells the whole story. Tonight we have the pleasure of chatting with our friend, Andy Wayment. Andy is a passionate hunter who has been chasing grouse for 25 years and sharing the woods with all sorts of dogs. Fortunately for us, Andy is also a great storyteller and has written a few books about his time spent behind his hunting dogs. We begin the show hearing about Andy and how he got into hunting, what makes a good hunting buddy and where he hunts in his books. Andy is extremely thorough and is able to recall specific details of a hunt like no other. Trust me, it's certainly worth checking out his books, whether or not you're a grouse hunter. Andy also does some more informal writing at his blog, which you can find here. Want more Lone Duck? Check out our patreon and come hang out with us. Cheers! Learn more about your ad choices. The project includes widening the existing road from two lanes to four lanes, with a raised center median and sidewalks along both sides of the road. A dual lane roundabout will be installed at the intersection of Seven Hills Boulevard / Blackberry Run Drive / Bentleaf Drive. The project limits are from the north end of the bridge over Little Pumpkinvine Creek to Cedarcrest Road. It is intended that the contractor will begin staking the working limits and installing the erosion control measures necessary for the project construction starting the week of September 27, 2021. Mid-October, the contractor plans to begin construction activities, such as clearing and grading (removal of trees, fencing, etc). Within the first half of 2022, the widening along with pavement rehabilitation is tentatively scheduled to begin. This work will utilize flaggers, may cause delays, will include shifting travel patterns and lanes, and could be a semi-rough ride until the final layer is laid through the project limits. Updates will be shared periodically during the project construction. Please note, that weather is always a concern and could impact work at times and schedules. Some of the top comments were from: Lisa Chumley said “Yet hwy 92/381 is still just 2 lanes. Makes no sense.” And Sandra Kato Nicholson who commented “Better traffic control is needed at several schools in Paulding County.” And finally Trevor Freeman from Hiram said “I hope the county starts another rd project before 92 gets done. In his Bible translation project did Joseph Smith plagiarize the work of a prominent British scholar named Adam Clarke? Or, if you don't want to call it plagiarism, did Joseph Smith “borrow” or appropriate phrases and ideas from Adam Clarke's Bible commentary (without attribution) which are found in our JST footnotes today? This is the question at the heart of the biggest modern controversy surrounding Joseph Smith's Bible Translation. In this episode of Church History Matters, we trace the origins of this controversy back to a series of interviews and articles by BYU Professor Thomas Wayment and his research assistant Hailey Wilson-Lemmon beginning in 2017 and culminating in a book chapter published in 2020. And as we are inclined to do with all things related to Joseph Smith's Bible translation, we'll look to expert Kent Jackson for his take on the claims of Wayment and Wilson-Lemmon in an article he published as a critique and refutation of their research. We recently spoke with Kory from Wayment Longhorns. We learned why they purchased Longhorns, some of his favorite animals, and so much more. Wayment's are a small family owned and operated farm nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Northern Utah. They purchased their first Registered Texas Longhorn in the Winter of 2019….and have been hooked ever since! With just under 100 acres they get the pleasure of watching and caring for their cattle every single day!www.waymentlonghorns.com

"I'm excited to just put myself in it and be a part of it and give myself a chance. I think incredible things happen when you believe in yourself and stay in the here and now and give yourself the chance." On June 11, 2022, Brigham Young University graduate Courtney Wayment Smith made NCAA history. Competing at NCAA Championships, she ran the 3000m steeplechase in 9:16 — not only taking a commanding win, but breaking the collegiate national record (previously held by now-Olympian Courtney Frerichs) in the process. That time also put her at #5 on the all-time U.S. women's steeplechase list, behind Frerichs, Emma Coburn, Colleen Quigley, and Jenny Simpson. To celebrate, Courtney signed with an agent (Ray Flynn) and signed her first professional contract with On! The icing on the cake: Courtney competed at USATF Outdoor Championships this past weekend, where she finished second in the 3000m steeplechase, earning her a spot on Team USA heading into next month's World Athletics Championships. Needless to say, it's been an exciting summer for Courtney, who lives in Provo, UT, and will continue training with her BYU coach Diljeet Taylor. Episode Summary: When COVID-19 hit and society decided to use mRNA vaccines for the first time, many questions remained about whether RNA itself was ready for the challenge. But three scientists at Stanford University who had barely worked with each other before the pandemic realized that RNA's limitations were merely a design challenge and not an issue with the substrate itself. Through emails and zooms, Kathrin, Gun, and Hannah built a tool to massively test RNA designs. With it, they screened for RNA with better functionality, increasing the stability and expression of the protein they encode and ultimately creating a platform to improve these life-saving vaccines. Episode Notes:About the AuthorsHannah, Gun, and Kathrin had all been separately researching various aspects of genetics and RNA before the pandemic. When COVID hit and RNA vaccines were being built, the three realized they had newly complementary skill sets. They set aside their individual projects, leveraged their unique backgrounds, and worked in shifts to abide by social distance rules in order to solve multiple issues facing RNA as a substrate for vaccines.Key TakeawaysRNA holds great potential for therapies and vaccines as they are highly programmable, extremely flexible, and are much easier to scale than other options. But RNA is hard to deploy for vaccines because it is extremely unstable both in the body and on the shelf.Enhancing the expression and stability of RNA allows us to reduce the amount needed to give a person, increasing the number of people that can be vaccinated. The three designed PERSIST-seq to test a multitude of RNA designs in one-pot by leveraging synthetic biology and next generation sequencing. They also leveraged citizen science through a “game” called Eterna in order to optimize sequences using the collective brain power of humanity. With it in they found synonymous mutations and alterations to the untranslated regions that changed RNA folding and improved stability and translation.TranslationPERSIST-seq must still be validated in animal models to fully connect how improvements on stability and expression alter vaccine efficacy. The team is ready to leverage their approach through licensing to help RNA vaccine companies improve their designs. The design rules and method to discover them can be used to enhance any RNA therapeutic that will undoubtedly be coming through the pipeline soon.First Authors: Kathrin Leppek, Gun Woo Byeon, and Hannah Wayment-SteelePaper: Combinatorial optimization of mRNA structure, stability, and translation for RNA-based therapeutics

Courtney Wayment is a fifth-year senior at BYU and recently notched victories at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the DMR (won in the second-fastest time in NCAA history) and 3,000m (9:01.47). She has a bubbly, sparkling personality and she speaks very highly of her team. There has been a lot in the media recently about unhealthy programs, challenges within the NCAA system and so I wanted to shed some light on a team that is having great success under a female coach, Coach Diljeet Taylor. This podcast episode was really special to me because I think sometimes we are so used to sharing stories about negative things in the media and I really wanted to highlight what it means to come together as a sisterhood to rise up and focus on any given day. Courtney is about to start her outdoor NCAA season. She’s definitely on fire right now so she’s one to watch. She is the first active collegiate star we have had on the podcast so give her a follow. For the Latter-day Saint Perspectives Podcast’s fourth season, we will be highlighting chapters from the much-anticipated volume, Producing Ancient Scripture: Joseph Smith’s Translation Projects in the Development of Mormon Christianity edited by Michael Hubbard MacKay, Mark Ashurst-McGee, and Brian M. Hauglid. In anticipation for our fourth-year launch on September 16, 2020, we will be rereleasing interviews with chapter authors. This week’s feature first aired as Episode 55. In our discussion, Dr. Thomas A. Wayment covers his research for his chapter “A Recovered Resource: The Use of Adam Clarke’s Bible Commentary in Joseph Smith’s Bible Translation.” Be sure to listen through the end credits to hear information about our new show feature “Comments and Questions from Readers,” which provides opportunities for listeners to submit content for future episodes as well as to receive gift cards and free books. From episode 55: In this episode, Laura Harris Hales visits with Thomas Wayment, Latter-day Saint Perspectives Podcast’s guest on episode one, in part two of our special first anniversary double episode on the Joseph Smith Translation to discuss some impressive findings regarding Joseph Smith’s Bible translation process. Dr. Wayment is currently a professor of Greek at BYU. He earned his BA in Classics from the University of California at Riverside then completed a PhD in New Testament studies at Claremont Graduate University. Known primarily as a New Testament scholar, Dr. Wayment has also written extensively on the Joseph Smith Translation. He became fascinated with the document early in his biblical studies and that interest has never really fizzled. In his recent studies, Wayment found an interesting connection between the JST and a biblical commentary well-known in the 19th-century, especially in Methodist circles. Adam Clarke, a British theologian, took almost 40 years to complete his comprehensive tome, published as The New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The text carefully printed from the most correct copies of the present Authorized Version. Including the marginal readings and parallel texts. With a Commentary and Critical Notes. Clarke’s commentary became a primary theological resource for nearly two centuries. New research by Michael Hubbard Mackay has uncovered a statement indicating that Joseph Smith had access to a copy of Clarke’s Bible commentary. When Wayment compared Joseph’s translation of the KJV Bible to Clarke’s commentary, he realized that Smith used it in the translation process because of the marked similarities he found between entries in the commentary and changes in Joseph’s KJV Bible. Listen in as Dr. Wayment shares what he believes this indicates about how the Prophet viewed the translation process and what it could mean for how we approach the KJV Bible and the JST. Perhaps the mostly highly anticipated article in Producing Ancient Scripture came from Wayment and Wilson-Lemmon regarding Joseph Smith’s use of the Adam Clarke commentary. Since the release of that article, many critics have used this as a way to challenge Joseph Smith’s truth claims. In this podcast, I explain how understanding intertextuality and seeing translation in a […] The post FAIR Voice Podcast #8: Sunday Special on Clarke Commentary, Doctrine, and the Sacrament appeared first on FairMormon.
Over the past several decades. credible Mormon-themed scholarship has determined beyond any reasonable doubt that Joseph Smith's claim have special powers to "translate" ancient languages was not true, and that Joseph often relied on plagiarism to produce his "revelations." Up until recently, at least three clear instances of false translation by Joseph Smith were widely known: the Book of Mormon, the Book of Abraham, and the Kinderhook Plates. In the summer of 2015, something truly remarkable happened. A BYU undergraduate, along with her professor, discovered a fourth example of false translation, and yet another example of plagiarism on the part of Joseph Smith - this time in the canonized "Joseph Smith Translation" of the Holy Bible (found in modern LDS scripture) Join me and scholar Haley Wilson Lemmón today as we discuss this groundbreaking research she conducted at BYU, along side professor Thomas A. Wayment -- as together they discovered literally hundreds of instances where Joseph Smith plagiarized portions of the Joseph Smith "Translation" of the Bible directly from Adam Clarke's Bible Commentary. Today's story includes: Haley's early years growing up as a highly devout Mormon girl and young woman who struggled significantly with undiagnosed religious anxiety (possibly scrupulosity). Haley's LDS mission to Panama. Haley's discovery of Joseph Smith's plagiarism, as she was working as a BYU undergraduate research assistant under Dr. Thomas A. Wayment. Haley's deep struggle with her Mormon faith once she began studying the authenticity of Mormon scripture and other truth claims. Haley's troubling brush with the BYU Honor Code Office, which almost resulted in her being expelled from BYU. How Haley's name was almost removed from the publishing of her research with Dr. Wayment. A review of Haley's current views on LDS Church truth claims. As a part of this interview, we will be discussing in-depth the article/chapter "A Recently Recovered Source: The Use of Adam Clarke’s Bible Commentary in Joseph Smith’s Bible Translation" that she co-authored with Thomas A. Wayment, which recently appeared in the newly released book "Producing Ancient Scripture: Joseph Smith's Translation Projects in the Development of Mormon Christianity," edited by Michael MacKay, Mark Ashurst-McGee, and Brian M. Hauglid.

Dr. Thomas A. Wayment, professor of Classics at Brigham Young University, has done something remarkable — he has retranslated the New Testament. This new translation from the best available Greek manuscripts, entitled, The New Testament: A Translation for Latter-day Saints(Religious Studies Center, Brigham Young University, 2019), renders the New Testament text into modern English and is sensitive to Latter-day Saint beliefs and practices. It is also readable and accessible for a wide range of readers. The original paragraph structure of the New Testament is restored and highlights features such as quotations, hymns, and poetic passages. New and extensive notes provide alternative translations, commentary on variant manuscript traditions, and historical insights. Where applicable, the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible has been included, and the notes contain the most complete list of cross-references to New Testament passages in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants that has ever been assembled. In our discussion, Dr. Wayment gives us exciting insights into how he translated the New Testament, along with his thoughts on Jesus Christ, the Pauline epistles, the role of women in the early church, and more. It’s a fun and fascinating conversation! Daniel P. Stone holds a PhD in American religious history from Manchester Metropolitan University (United Kingdom) and is the author of William Bickerton: Forgotten Latter Day Prophet (Signature Books, 2018). On a March afternoon, Reid shares an hour with writer, hunter, upland historian, and Ruffed Grouse devotee Andy Wayment. Andy and Reid discuss Andy's recent book, Idaho Ruffed Grouse Hunting, which chronicles Andy's love affair with grouse, dogs, and days afield. The two discuss the book as well as Andy's work with brother Shawn Wayment on the Uplandways blog, but conversation wanders deep into the world of outdoor literature. Andy and Reid go deep into their shared passion for the great and timeless stories penned by such authors as Gorham Cross, Corey Ford, Bill and Tap Tapply, and Burton Spiller. A great listen!

Few scholars have the expertise, let alone the confidence, to embark on a new translation of the New Testament for Latter-day Saints. Fortunately, Thomas Wayment has enough of both. When Wayment sat down for this conversation with Terryl Givens, he was a professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, but has recently moved to teaching classical studies at the university. His new translation was published by Deseret Book and the BYU Religious Studies Center—just in time for the church’s 2019 focus on the New Testament. This conversation focuses on his new translation and new perspectives he gained during the process, including some surprises.
As Latter-day Saints begin to dig into the New Testament as part of this year's scripture study, a terrific new resource, a translation from the Greek with wonderful notes, has arrived on the scene. The New Testament: A Translation for Latter-day Saints (A Study Bible) by Thomas A. Wayment, published by the Religious Studies Center at BYU in cooperation with Deseret Book, can stimulate discussions among Latter-day Saints about the authorship and dating of each part of the New Testament, the context in which each was written, textual issues at play that lead some passages we are used to seeing in the King James Version to be dropped while opening up others to broader meanings than we typically speak about in church, and much more—all of it quite relevant in our own Christian lives and how we interact with Jesus's core messages and his calls for us to follow. This episode is an interview with Thom Wayment about his new translation as well as the entire project of figuring out how best to present it in book form. Within the conversation, Thom and Mormon Matters host Dan Wotherspoon discuss a wide range of things, but most often with a focus on "what difference could this make in how we understand our own faith?" Who wrote the Gospels? Which of the Pauline epistles are not written by Paul? What aspects of Paul's writings and teachings influenced the Gospel writers who all created their texts after Paul had died? The Jesus of history is significantly different from the Christ of Paul, so what does teasing that apart open for us and how we approach Jesus's teachings and our own reading of the New Testament? In what ways are we asking certain texts, or even just particular verses, to do a lot of work for us (be foundational) in the LDS tradition that skew our understandings of the early Christian movement and developing church? In what ways does approaching our reading with more information about the texts' origins lead us, should we let them, to a more enlivened faith, a more energetic interaction with what it was about Jesus and his life and messaging that led so many people to give their lives (at times, literally, their own life) to spreading its influence? There is a freshness to our Bible studies that this book can bring if we will truly dive into the scholarship presented along with a plain English translation (none of this "thee, thy, thou, thine" stuff, or archaic phrasings, folks!) that also includes a much clearer picture of the role of women in the early church. This is a book and study year that we hope will be quite transformational.
Maxwell Institute Conversations are special episodes of the Maxwell Institute Podcast, hosted by Terryl Givens and created in collaboration with Faith Matters Foundation. Audio and video available. A lot has changed for Thomas Wayment since this he sat down for this conversation with Terryl Givens. At the time, Thom was a professor of ancient scripture working on a new translation of the New Testament intended for Latter-day Saints. Now he's teaching classical studies and his translation has been published by the Religious Studies Center and Deseret Book—just in time for Latter-day Saint Sunday school's focus on the New Testament. This conversation focuses on his new translation and other insights from his work in biblical scholarship. About the Guest Thomas A. Wayment is a professor of Classical studies at Brigham Young University, where he previously worked as publications director of the Religious Studies Center and as a professor of ancient scripture. He received his BA in Classics from the University of California at Riverside and his MA and PhD in New Testament studies from the Claremont Graduate School. Dr. Wayment's research interests include the historical life of Jesus, New Testament manuscript traditions, the life of Paul, and the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. I'm excited to have Dr. Thomas Wayment discuss fact and fiction surrounding stories of the birth of Christ. Dr. Wayment is a New Testament scholar at BYU. You may want to bookmark this page as later in the week we will compare notes with fellow scholar Dr. Jeffrey Chadwick, who think Jesus was born in December. Is there such clarity in the New Testament? Tom and co-author Lincoln Blumell wrote an article in BYU Studies on the dating of Christ's birth. https://youtu.be/K74TTz-RpXs Tom: Our intent wasn't to say, "It's not really December, it's April." Our intent was to say "We can't know within that kind of time frame, especially not a month." A year, we might get within a year or two is about the best we can do. What is the span of years that we can pinpoint the birth of Jesus? Tom: It seems that everyone agrees that Herod was alive when Jesus was born. That gives us a pretty good point after which we can start talking. Herod dies in 4 B.C. That's a date there is not a lot of dispute about. I've seen a recent monograph and some are saying maybe spring of 5 B.C. ... One real monkey-wrench here is that Luke says that there was a census by a man named Quirinius or Cyrenius in translation that a lot of Latter-day Saints use, and he is governor in Syria in 6 A.D. So there is no possible way that Herod is alive and Cyrenius does a census. So there is a decade gap between these two dates. What does Tom think is the best date? Check out our conversation.... Is it true that estimate range from 5 B.C. to 6 A.D for the birth of Jesus?

The Interview: In this interview, Laura Harris Hales interviews Dr. Thomas A. Wayment about modern Bible translations and the lasting heritage of the King James Bible. For the majority of English-speaking Latter-day Saints, the King James Bible is both a cultural symbol of participation in American Christianity as well as a signifier of activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But as recent polls have demonstrated, Americans are less likely today to purchase and read a KJV Bible than at any time in our history. Increasingly, LDS missionaries are faced with speaking a foreign Bible language when they read from the words of their KJV Bibles. They wrestle with trying to understand an older form of English in order to make sense of the primary canonical texts of their religion. Many Latter-day Saints and other Christians too often venture into the unfamiliar territory of exploring other translations of the Bible. One reason for this is the interest to understand this important religious text without the obstacle of the foreign-sounding English words of the KJV. Many readers, when they consider purchasing a printed Bible or using an internet Bible, are not familiar with the reasons a particular Bible was created, or whether it is the best one out there for use. Approximately ten years ago, Thomas A. Wayment, a professor of Classics at Brigham Young University began considering the possibility of producing a new translation of the New Testament. That translation, The New Testament: A New Translation for Latter-day Saints: A Study Bible represents nearly a decade of work. The translation was made from the best available Greek text, and the footnotes and reader’s helps are entirely new and target the LDS Bible reader. Each book of scripture contains a short historical introduction that attempts to describe current scholarship and the main topics of interest for LDS readers. As with every translation, this new one seeks to remain faithful to the words of the original while attempting to convey meaning to a new generation of readers. One of the main interests in this new translation was to achieve a high level of readability with accompanying dense notes that could encourage study and classroom usage. It is not intended to replace the KJV for everyday LDS usage, but it is intended to promote wider Bible literacy for the New Testament. Tune in as Dr. Wayment walks listeners through the unique and enlightening study helps included in this new study Bible, which is designed specifically for the serious study of the New Testament alongside Restoration scripture. About Our Guest: Thomas A. Wayment is a professor of Classics at Brigham Young University. He completed a PhD in New Testament Studies at Claremont Graduate University and has published extensively on New Testament topics. He is the author, coauthor, or editor of many published articles and several books. For 5 years, he was the publications director of the Religious Studies Center at BYU and editor of the Religious Educator.

A NEW New Testament? Finally! Do you find that reading New Testament English feels old, out dated, or just hard to understand? Have no fear, Thom Wayment is here. Our guest on this episode of the Latter-day Saint MissionCast is the translator of a NEW translation, a more modern translation of the New Testament Study Bible for Latter-day Saints! Brother Wayment is a professor of Classics at Brigham Young University. He joined the faculty of Religious Education in June of 2000 after completing a PhD in New Testament studies at the Claremont Graduate School, and he later joined the faculty of Comparative Arts and Letters at BYU in 2018. His recent research interests focus on Christian literary papyri, Oxyrhynchus, and the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. He served as the publications director of the Religious Studies Center from 2013 until 2018. In this episode we learn about the translation process he took, the history of the King James Version of the New Testament, and how the study hints and helps that he brings forth makes a tremendous impact on the way we study the Bible. This is great content considering the 2019 Curriculum with the Come, Follow Me - For Individuals and Families as well as Come, Follow Me - For Sunday School and Primary that will be featuring the New Testament. The Interview: Tune in as Laura Harris Hales interviews Sharalyn D. Howcroft on Foundational Texts of Mormonism: Examining Major Early Sources, a new book that carefully analyzes essential texts that are repeatedly used by historians as they reconstruct Mormonism’s founding era. Scholars have frequently mined early Mormon historical sources for the information that they contain, though with little attention to source criticism. A noteworthy exception is the work of Dean C. Jessee. Jessee’s examination of The History of the Church showed that unlike the subtitle of its first six volumes—Period I: History of Joseph Smith, the Prophet, by Himself—the history was written by a dozen different scribes and clerks, not Smith. Although Smith started the history, his office staff quickly assumed most of the burden of production, barely half of it was completed at the time of Smith’s death in 1844, and it took many more years before it was finished. Jessee’s scholarship showed the necessity of understanding authorship, textual origins, and record production. Foundational Texts of Mormonism was conceived as a compilation of essays honoring Dean C. Jessee. Taking a page from Jessee’s playbook, this volume scrutinizes documents as products of history rather than sources of historical information. When records are examined as artifacts of the culture from which they originate, it reveals things about historical sources beyond the content of the records themselves. Chapters in the book provide original and notable contributions on early Mormon history sources using methodologies advocated by Jessee. Richard Lyman Bushman’s “The Gold Plates as Foundational Text” focuses on the Book of Mormon’s account of its creation, viewing the gold plates as a document in the Book of Mormon narrative. Its disparate texts reflect both divinely inspired and human elements. Grant Hardy’s “Textual Criticism and the Book of Mormon” assesses Royal Skousen’s Book of Mormon Critical Text Project and what it divulges about the process of dictation and textual transmission, including Joseph Smith’s views on scriptural text. Thomas A. Wayment, in “Intertextuality and the Purpose of Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Bible” studies Joseph Smith’s motivation for revising the Bible and how it steered Smith to re-envision the Bible. Grant Underwood, in “The Dictations, Compilation, and Canonization of Joseph Smith’s Revelations” traces the unfolding of Smith’s revelations from their initial dictation to canonization. In “Joseph Smith’s Missouri Prison Letters and the Mormon Textual Community,” David W. Grua examines Smith’s epistles given to the Latter-day Saint community during his incarceration, and how they connected the suffering of the Saints with revelation. Jennifer Reeder in “The Textual Culture of the Nauvoo Female Relief Society Leadership and Minute Book” studies the undercurrent of polygamous relationships evident in the society’s minute book, based on what was and was not recorded. William V. Smith’s chapter on “Joseph Smith’s Sermons and the Early Mormon Documentary Record,” examines how a more extensive documentary record of Smith’s sermons was the direct result of the increased importance place upon Smith’s preaching. In “Joseph Smith’s Nauvoo Journals,” Alex D. Smith and Andrew H. Hedges analyze Smith’s journals kept during the last two and a half years of his life and their contribution to our understanding of Smith’s last few years and the Nauvoo community at that time. The prolific writings of Wilford Woodruff are reviewed in Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s “The Early Diaries of Wilford Woodruff, 1835–1839.” Woodruff’s painstaking care when recording his diary indirectly chronicles his lived experience through earthly and heavenly bonds, his faith, and missionary work. In “An Archival and Textual Reexamination of Lucy Mack Smith’s History,” Sharalyn D. Howcroft reconstructs the original order of the history,

In this episode, Laura Harris Hales visits with Thomas Wayment, LDS Perspectives Podcast’s guest on episode one, in part two of our special first anniversary double episode on the Joseph Smith Translation to discuss some impressive findings regarding Joseph Smith's Bible translation process. Dr. Wayment is currently a professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, as well as publications director of the BYU Religious Studies Center. In the next year, he will have two book chapters published on new findings regarding Joseph's Bible translation process. Clarke's commentary became a primary theological resource for nearly two centuries.
