It's a different kind of road trip this week, as we learn all about the Juneteenth holiday and talk with a variety of guests about different places around Michigan that hold special significance for African American history and culture. Juneteenth marks the final emancipation of slaves during the Civil War, on June 19 in Galveston Texas. Today, it is a day of celebration and education. We kick off the show with Chris Grier, who shares with us both the history and significance of the Juneteenth holiday. Grier is the historian for Idlewild, located near Baldwin, and known as the "Black Eden of Michigan. He was both born and raised at this special spot, and his grandfather was one of the founding members. We discuss the importance of Idelwild to it's members, and to the community as a whole. We also discuss how a certain movie brought attention to Idelwild's history, but also completely got the location wrong. Idlewild is in Michigan, not Georgia! Then, we meet with Cynthia Jones, who is the Director of Museum Experiences at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. Did you know that the bus that Rosa Parks sat down in and helped galvanize the Civil Rights Movement is right here? You can even climb on to experience history firsthand. We talk about why items of cultural significance are so important, and how The Henry Ford has integrated it into their exhibit "With Liberty and Justice for All".Annie Kelly from the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau stops by and we discuss the long history the Underground Railroad had in this part of Michigan. Known as a safe stop for escaped slaves, usually on their journey to Canada and freedom, Calhoun County, which includes Battle Creek, Marshall and Albion, now boasts several tributes to this time in history. We talk about the Underground Railroad memorial that you can experience here, as well as a 12-foot-tall statue of activist Sojourner Truth, who ended up calling Battle Creek her home for the last decades of her life.We close out this special show with Dr. David Pilgrim of Ferris State University. He is one of this country's leading experts on issues relating to multiculturalism, diversity, and race relations, and is the founder and curator of the Jim Crow Museum. The museum uses objects of intolerance to teach tolerance and promote social justice and has over 20,000 artifacts. It's a difficult topic, but one that is very important to study and learn from. Dr. Pilgrim has personally collected most of the collection and has developed a traveling exhibit so more people can experience it. He is also working on a permanent spot to house the collection on Ferris' campus. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 3 of 3 Leftism has a battle logic: dialectical political warfare. They have used it in the past and are using it now to launch a cultural revolution against the West. The question before us, since we find ourselves in the midst of one, is once one has started, is it possible to stop a cultural revolution, and if so, how? This is, in fact, the most pressing and important question in the world. In this lecture, Dr. James Lindsay of New Discourses begins to provide an answer. We can learn their battle logic and beat them, not by fighting the dialectic with the dialectic but by positioning our political counter-warfare so that it outmaneuvers the dialectic itself. By understanding how they're attacking us, what their targets and operational goals are, and how to counter some of their most basic tactics, we can easily mount a counter-offensive that beats their game without falling into the traps laid for us along the way. Ep 175~ The paintings of Calida Rawles (b. 1976, Wilmington, DE; lives and works in Los Angeles, CA) merge hyper-realism with poetic abstraction. Situating her subjects in dynamic spaces, her recent work employs water as a vital, organic, multifaceted material, and historically charged space. Ranging from buoyant and ebullient to submerged and mysterious, Black bodies float in exquisitely rendered submarine landscapes of bubbles, ripples, refracted light and expanses of blue. For Rawles, water signifies both physical and spiritual healing as well as historical trauma and racial exclusion. She uses this complicated duality as a means to envision a new space for Black healing, and to reimagine her subjects beyond racialized tropes. Enhancing the seductive nature of water, the work tempers heavier subjects with aquatic serenity and geographic and temporal ambiguities, inviting multiple readings. Embedded in her titles and topographical notations in the compositions, Rawles' canvases represent an expansive vision of strength and tranquility during today's turbulent times, while insisting on the triumph of humanity. Rawles received a B.A. from Spelman College, Atlanta, GA (1998) and an M.A. from New York University, New York, NY (2000). Solo exhibitions of her work have been organized at Lehmann Maupin, New York, NY (2021); Various Small Fires, Los Angeles, CA (2020); and Standard Vision, Los Angeles, CA (2020). With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 2 of 3 Leftist activism is happy to take direct wins whenever it can get them, but that's not always possible. When it can't get direct wins through the front door, it is also more than happy to get its wins through the back door by exploiting what we can call an action-reaction dynamic. As an act of dialectical political warfare, which is their battle logic, Leftist agitators will provoke a reaction, control the framing around that reaction to a watching audience, and use the reaction as justification to advance their cause. This strategy was articulated by Saul Alinsky as “your enemy's reaction is your real action,” and it forms a backbone for a Leftist two-step of provoke, then advance. Currently, in the United States, recognizing the tremendous challenge conservative Christianity poses to any Marxist takeover of the country, a reactionary movement called “Christian Nationalism” is being repeatedly provoked in the hopes of being able to use that reaction to nullify any Christian resistance to the Woke takeover of the West. In this lecture from Dr. James Lindsay of New Discourses, the nature of the action-reaction dynamic as a tool of political warfare and the example of the setup of Christian Nationalism as a reaction to Woke provocation is laid bare. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 14 Leftist activism often seeks direct victories but resorts to an action-reaction strategy when faced with obstacles. This political warfare tactic involves provoking a response, controlling how it's portrayed to the audience, and using it to further their agenda. Saul Alinsky's principle, "your enemy's reaction is your real action," underpins this approach, involving a two-step process of provocation and advancement. In the United States, where conservative Christianity poses a significant challenge to Marxist influence, a movement known as "Christian Nationalism" is deliberately stirred to nullify Christian resistance against the spread of Woke ideology. Dr. James Lindsay's lecture delves into the action-reaction dynamic as a political tool and exposes the deliberate setup of Christian Nationalism as a response to Woke provocations, serving as a critical warning to the American church. https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 12 Today, it seems we can't agree on anything anymore. Movements like Marxist social justice and Christian Nationalism have inserted conflict into Evangelicalism, separating brothers, decimating institutions, and muddying established doctrine. In this message, Dr. Jon Benzinger laments this fact, calls Christians to unity with other Christians (Rom 12:16, 1 Cor 1:10, Eph 4:3-6), and to stop listening to Christians who are causing division (Rom 16:17, 2 Cor 11:4, Titus 3:10). The Evangelical church has been a united bulwark against cultural revolutions for decades. Those who see us as their enemies infiltrate our institutions and introduce mini-revolutions into the church because they actually listened to Jesus when He said that a house divided against itself cannot stand (Matt 12:25). If we can't stop the in-fighting and unite against the real enemy—satanic tyranny on both the right and the left—it could be too late for our Republic. https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 13 At the "With Liberty and Justice for All" conference in Clearwater, FL, a thought-provoking panel took place. I was joined by John Connell, Bill Roach, James Lindsay, Jon Benzinger, and Andy Woodard as we delved into an intriguing discussion. Their focus was on understanding the mechanisms behind the rise of reflexive movements within the church, such as the Neo-Marxist Woke Church movement on the fringe left (Marcusians) and the reactionary Christian Nationalism movement on the cringe right (Schmittians). These movements, they argued, possess the ability to gain momentum and insidiously seize control of the church, acting as parasitic forces that disrupt and dismantle previously united groups. In both situations, entryism was the primary strategy employed by both external and internal agitating forces. -Michael O'Fallon https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 11 In the founding of this nation, deists and Christians came together on one issue in particular: Religious faith is not an issue that the state has any business dictating. I believe that with all my heart. Let me tell you something else I believe – no man or prince or church or any form of centralized power has any business telling anyone what they can and can't believe. Whether deists or Christians, the founders of this nation had the wisdom to put it in writing that the government had to steer clear of telling Christians and/or the church what they can or cannot do or what they can or cannot believe. Unbelievably, there are now those who actually want to establish the United States as a Christian nation with power concentrated in one person. Are you kidding me? Never mind the logistical nightmare with a monster of that size; consider the history of such attempts. I am compelled to ask the Christian nationalists this question: Are you trying to run my life? If so, then back-off and stand down. -Dr. John Connell https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 9 There's rioting in the streets, illegals pouring across our border, mutilation of our children, the murder of the unborn, corruption in our politics and elections, and globalist leaders enacting perverse agendas to create an apocalyptic utopia. What are Christians to do in the face of such dire circumstances? Today many people are turning to Christian nationalism for hope and an attempt at answers to the societal decay we see all around us. Before we can examine the false hope of Christian Nationalism, we need to first consider the discrepancies over definitions. There are many different views, all claiming the title. The second point to consider is the theology of the movement. Though it is diverse, one point in common across the movement's branches is that Christian Nationalism is a theology of glory, rather than a theology of the cross. “At its core, Christian Nationalism can justifiably be called a ‘theology of glory' that seeks to build the Kingdom of God on the earth without necessarily requiring gospel preaching or conversion. Its central focus is morality, politics & power. None of which are actually overtly Christian.” -Andy Woodard In this talk we consider a few biblical passages which offer both examples of a theology of glory and a theology of the cross and conclude with the following points of application. 1. Recognize that it's not too late to repent. Hebrews 3:13 2. Acknowledge the sovereignty of God. Daniel 2:21 3. Put NO confidence in princes. Psalm 146:3 4. Do not despise the little things. 1 Samuel 14:6 5. Boldly, Clearly speak the truth. 2 Corinthians 4:2 6. Trust wholly in the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7 7. Confront evil in the camp when necessary. 1 Corinthians 5:12 https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 8 Numerous attempts have been made to decipher the political framework embodied by the World Economic Forum and the United Nations, yet a crucial element in comprehending the underlying motives of these roundtable groups has often been overlooked: faith. Faith stands as the pivotal ingredient in the forthcoming system the World Economic Forum and the United Nations propose. The collaboration between the public and private sectors within the World Economic Forum and the United Nations bears resemblance to a fascist model. Similarly, one could also identify certain communist or neo-communist traits in their policies and strategies for global influence. However, the introduction of faith as a fundamental element in the governance model introduces a crucial moral dimension, akin to a "third leg of the stool." This incorporation of religion transforms the model from a mere manifestation of national socialism or unadulterated fascism into a form of integralism, specifically a progressive, leftist neo-integralism with enviro-communist qualities. https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 7 Christian Nationalism is a divisive movement within evangelical circles, with some seeing it as a stabilizing force in a turbulent society while others argue it blurs the separation between Church and State, resembling totalitarian regimes. Defining Christian Nationalism is challenging, as various factions offer local interpretations, leaving room for manipulation by progressive movements through linguistic tactics. Some Reformed Christian Nationalists criticize the Woke movement's subjectivity but inadvertently adopt their own form of subjective epistemology. Popular expressions of Christian Nationalism often mix elements of Scholastic Reformed Protestantism with Hegelian social and governmental ideas and draw influence from theonomists seeking to impose ancient Israel's laws, even advocating for new blasphemy laws. These positions ignore America's foundations of religious freedom and free speech. Some segments of the movement risk undermining the Reformation's core principles in pursuit of political expediency, forgetting that the Reformation emphasized grace, faith, Christ, Scripture, and the glory of God alone, not compromising these principles for political gain. -Dr. William Roach. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 1 of 3 The Left moves operationally and according to a battle logic known as “dialectical political warfare.” The dialectic is the operating system of the Left, and it works by marrying a truth to a lie. Political warfare is a method of conducting warfare in which political means are used with hostile intent to get an enemy to behave in a desired fashion—propaganda is a great example. Perhaps the greatest dialectical political warfare tactician in human history is the monstrous figure of Mao Zedong, Communist dictator of China until his death in 1976. His tactics and cultural revolution are a testament to the fearsome and destructive power of dialectical political warfare, and they're happening here in America and throughout the West today. Where Mao claimed to be employing “Marxism-Leninism with Chinese characteristics” in China, the “Woke” and environmental “Sustainability” movements we face in the present should be described as “Maoist Marxism with American Characteristics.” In this lecture from Dr. James Lindsay of New Discourses, the parallels between our experience today and the tools utilized in China under Mao will be made so clear that the unavoidable conclusion will be that we are living through nothing less than American Maoism. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 6 It's crucial to understand that the Left operates strategically, guided by a framework known as "dialectical political warfare." This dialectical approach involves merging truths with falsehoods to advance their agenda. Political warfare, in essence, employs political means with hostile intent to influence an adversary's behavior – propaganda being a prime example. One cannot discuss this without acknowledging the mastermind of dialectical political warfare, Mao Zedong, the Communist leader of China until his passing in 1976. His tactics and the cultural revolution he orchestrated demonstrate the formidable and devastating power of dialectical political warfare, and the concerning reality is that we're witnessing its echoes right here in America and across the Western world today. While Mao claimed to be applying "Marxism-Leninism with Chinese characteristics" in China, the current "Woke" and environmental "Sustainability" movements should be understood as "Maoist Marxism with American Characteristics." In this insightful lecture by Dr. James Lindsay of New Discourses, you'll see the striking parallels between our contemporary experiences and the strategies employed in Mao's China, leaving us with the inescapable conclusion that we are currently navigating nothing less than American Maoism. https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 4 I am Lily Tang Williams. I was born in China to illiterate working-class parents, suffered under Mao's Cultural Revolution and Communist dictatorship. I wanted freedom. America was my promised land. I was 23 when I fled tyranny. Arriving with $100 in my pocket and knowing very little English. I worked hard to make my American dream come true. Today I am happily married with three children, have my own businesses, and live in the Granite State where the spirit of liberty resides. My concern is that my children and grandchildren will not have the same opportunities I had. I see the shadow of authoritarianism cast by politicians who have locked us down, closed small businesses, inflated our money, and mortgaged our children's future. I saw it all before in China: the division of society, silencing dissident voices, taking away parental rights, the indoctrination of youth, endless government mandates and control. People are losing their rights to make a living and make their own life choices. Woke culture and tactics are similar to Mao's cultural revolution I survived. Weaponizing of government agencies to target political opponents remind me of Communist China. Are you worried yet? I am. I fear that the country I love is becoming like the country I left. That is why I am running for Congress. It is time for the majority to speak up and defend our country from the radical left and keep the American Dream alive for our children. -Lily Tang Williams https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 3 In this presentation, I intended to provide a brief history of the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) launched by China's then dictator Mao Zedong. It was Mao's attempt to seize absolute power and to remake China according to his own image. I tried to provide a sketch of the Cultural Revolution by answering the basic questions of why, what, who and how. I also tried to draw some parallels along the way to what is happening in America today. The Chinese Cultural Revolution was not an isolated historic event. It is important to understand the historic backdrop and important political events that eventually led to the outbreak of this revolution. I covered the Land Reform (1950-1953), the Anti-Rightist Campaign (1956-1957), the Great Leap Forward Campaign, and the Great Famine (1995-1962), all of which will help to make more sense out of the Cultural Revolution. -Xi Van Fleet https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With genuine concern for the younger generation losing sight of the true value of freedom, Cathy draws poignant parallels between Mao's Cultural Revolution in China and the current ideological shifts taking place within America's education system. She passionately urges us to remain vigilant and unyielding in our commitment to safeguarding the freedoms imperiled by the encroachment of cancel culture, equity agendas, technological intrusion, and other looming threats. Ms. Kiang leaves us with a resounding call to action, emphasizing the vital imperative to defend free speech, equality, cognitive liberty, private property, the right to bear arms, privacy, the free market, travel, and even our dietary choices. She implores each one of us to embark on a journey of self-education, to engage actively within our local communities, and to boldly raise our voices in defense of these fundamental rights. As we do so, she invokes divine blessings upon our collective efforts to preserve the bedrock principles that make America a beacon of liberty for all. https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. With Liberty & Justice For All, Session 1 In order to successfully navigate the tumultuous realm of our ever-changing world, one must grasp the underlying causes that drive its chaotic hyperreality. During my introductory address at the With Liberty and Justice for All conference, I delve into the underlying motives behind the manipulation of our civilization over the past decade. In this lecture, I delve into the notion that this problem is not merely an endpoint, but rather the initial stage of a dialectical process that seeks to reshape our world into an algorithmic, authoritarian panopticon. -Michael O'Fallon https://sovereignnations.com Support Sovereign Nations: https://paypal.me/sovnations https://patreon.com/sovnations Follow Sovereign Nations: https://sovereignnations.com/subscribe/ © 2023 Sovereign Nations. Subtitled: "Elite Immunity" and the Abandonment of the Working ClassI recently watched "The Rise of the Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else" on ENDEVR's YT channel. In this episode, I will discuss that documentary as well as Glenn Greenwald's book With Liberty and Justice for Some: How the Law is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful. Key topics:✔️The neocons and neolibs work together as part of the same elite class? Say it ain't so!✔️The elites break the law and then pardon themselves. How could we be surprised by that? At this point, it would be more shocking if they obeyed the laws they expect the rest of us to follow.✔️"These guys are making up to $1 billion a day."✔️Governments as instruments of the wealthy super elite.Links I discuss in this episode:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlMjalPFSzUhttps://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Justice-Some-Equality-Powerful/dp/1250013836Links where I can be found: https://causeyconsultingllc.com/2023/01/30/updates-housekeeping/Need more? We talk to Peter Barnes, former president of Working Assets and author of "With Liberty and Dividends for All."
Peter Barnes is an innovative thinker and entrepreneur whose work has focused on fixing the deepest flaws of capitalism. He has written numerous books and articles, co-founded several socially responsible businesses, and started a retreat for progressive writers. His most recent books are With Liberty and Dividends for All and Capitalism 3.0: A Guide to Reclaiming the Commons. Peter lives in northern California with his wife, dogs and vegetable garden. In this wide-ranging and compelling interview, Peter discusses his work over recent decades, exploring the workings and evolution of capitalism, and looks to the future. Peter believes that capitalism started as a highly effective solution to the problems of scarcity, but has become the central problem of our day, highlighting how it has driven the environmental crises we are now facing. Peter emphasizes the importance of managing the commons, a central concern in his recent work, as well as the role of property rights, and identifies a number of innovative ideas which he believes will make capitalism work better at the same time as deal with the environmental crises we are now facing. On page 239 of What Happened, Hillary Clinton reveals that she almost ran a very different campaign in 2016. Before announcing for president, she read Peter Barnes’s book With Liberty and Dividends for All, and became fascinated by the idea of using revenue from shared natural resources, like fossil fuel extraction and public airwaves, alongside revenue from taxing public harms, like carbon emissions and risky financial practices, to give every American “a modest basic income.” Her ambitions for this idea were expansive, touching on not just the country’s economic ills but its political and spiritual ones. “Besides cash in people’s pockets,” she writes, “it would be also be a way of making every American feel more connected to our country and to each other.” This is the kind of transformative vision that Clinton was often criticized for not having. It’s an idea bigger than a wall, perhaps bigger even than single-payer health care or free college. But she couldn’t make the numbers work. Every version of the plan she tried either raised taxes too high or slashed essential programs. So she scrapped it. “That was the responsible decision,” she writes. But after the 2016 election, Clinton is no longer sure that “responsible” is the right litmus test for campaign rhetoric. “I wonder now whether we should’ve thrown caution to the wind, embraced [it] as a long-term goal and figured out the details later,” she writes. What Happened has been sold as Clinton’s apologia for her 2016 campaign, and it is that. But it’s more remarkable for Clinton’s extended defense of a political style that has become unfashionable in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Clinton is not a radical or a revolutionary, a disruptor or a socialist, and she’s proud of that fact. She’s a pragmatist who believes in working within the system, in promising roughly what you believe you can deliver, in saying how you’ll pay for your plans. She is frustrated by a polity that doesn’t share her “thrill” over incremental policies that help real people or her skepticism of sweeping plans that will never come to fruition. She believes in politics the way it is actually practiced, and she holds to that belief at a moment when it’s never been less popular. This makes Clinton a more unusual figure than she gets credit for being: Not only does she refuse to paint an inspiring vision of a political process rid of corruption, partisanship, and rancor, but she’s also actively dismissive of those promises and the politicians who make them. On Tuesday morning, I sat down with Clinton for an hour on the first official day of her book tour. It is a cliché that stiff candidates become freer, easier, and more confident after they lose — see Gore, Al — but it is true for Clinton. Jon Stewart used to talk of the “buffering” you could see happening in the milliseconds between when Clinton was asked a question and when she answered; the moments when she played out the angles, envisioned the ways her words could be twisted, and came up with a response devoid of danger but suffused with caution. That buffering is gone. In our conversation, she was as quick and confident as I’ve seen her, making the case for her politics without worrying too much about the coalitional angles or the possible lines of offense. And she says plenty that can, and will, offend. In our discussion, she lit into Bernie Sanders’s single-payer plan, warned that Donald Trump is dragging us down an authoritarian path, spoke openly of the role racism and white resentment played in the campaign, and argued that the outcome of the 2016 election represented a failure of the media above all. This was Clinton unleashed, and while she talked about what happened, it was much more interesting when she talked about what she believed should have happened. Learn more about your ad choices. Peter Barnes, entrepreneur and former Newsweek correspondent, discusses his new book “With Liberty and Dividends For All: How to Save Our Middle Class When Jobs Don't Pay Enough.” He argues that because of globalization, automation, and winner-take-all capitalism, there won't be enough high-paying jobs to sustain America's middle class in the future.
