This week on Exploit It, we're sinking into Blood Beach!
Saga of the Swamp Thing #5 (1982)We keep rolling with our friend Swamp Thing as he takes on a bit of convalescence in a unaccredited hospital that stores a bunch of pink clones in the basement. It might very well be a sequel (or prequel) to BARBARIAN that Swampy has found himself wrapped up in. Regardless, it is a wild time with chokeslams, Swamp Thing back-body dropping security guards and an evil Captain Kangaroo running around. Also, our back-up story sees Phantom Stranger cosplaying as Phil Donahue (RIP) to defeat his nemesis Tannarak by turning him into an ornery baby. *** PROPER COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION STARTS AT 00:10:44 ***All this plus we rewatch BLOOD BEACH~! and it is as great as we remembered.Promo: CHECKERED PAST (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/checkered-past/id1350233450)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter (X) @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield and email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. It's the smash of the summer when Brian, Steve and their patrons have a Bash at the Beach . . . The Sand (2015) vs Dead & Buried (1981) vs Club Dread (2004) Can the patrons secure their first victory with some pepper spray and hotdogs, or will they be left spinning their tires in the sand? Will Brian be able to retain his title and the secret to keeping a streak alive, or is he destined to for the slab? Will Steve hit the Heaven's Point of winning, or will he be wasted in Pina Coladaburgh? Tune in as two mutant horror nerds and their fans rip each other's guts out on the way to deciding who's film reigns supreme! Tis the season for aquatic horror, but before we dive in headfirst, we need to dip our toes in on the edge of the beach… the BLOOD BEACH (1980). Is it a monster movie? Is it a cop procedural? Is the monster actually an alien dropped by a spaceship that you only get to see in the Japanese cut of the film?? We have more questions than answers on this one, but there's a certain charm to its absurdity. Clam up, why dontcha, we're trying to talk about movies here! Learn more about your ad choices. It's hot FIlmjitsu summer, and the guys are kicking it off with Mike making Jay watch 1980's "Blood Beach," a horror film that goes the bold route of blending the genre with... a dry police procedural? If a beach that eats people isn't your idea of a day in the sun, don't worry, the guys brought sunscreen and an umbrella as they count off their bottom five beach scenes! Finally, they chase that bit of summertime fun with a game of Kick Two, Pick Two where four classic, summer-set films go into the ring with only two allowed to survive!
This week, Josh and Drusilla are joined by a very special guest: Matt Landsman, manager of the newly re-opened Vista's Video Archives Club and Programmer at Be Kind Video. The episode is focused on 1968's Spirits of the Dead. From wiki: “Spirits of the Dead (French: Histoires extraordinaires, lit. 'Extraordinary Tales', Italian: Tre passi nel delirio, lit. 'Three Steps to Delirium'), also known as Tales of Mystery and Imagination and Tales of Mystery,[8] is a 1968 horror anthology film comprising three segments respectively directed by Roger Vadim, Louis Malle and Federico Fellini, based on stories by Edgar Allan Poe. A French-Italian international co-production, the film's French title is derived from a 1856 collection of Poe's short stories translated by French poet Charles Baudelaire; the English titles Spirits of the Dead and Tales of Mystery and Imagination are respectively taken from an 1827 poem by Poe and a 1902 British collection of his stories. But they also discuss Bulldog Drummond, Quentin Tarantino, micro cinemas, VHS, Tales from the Darkside, Monster Squad, Sleepaway Camp, Blood Beach, Fright Night, Creepshow, Jill Schoelen, The Peoples' Joker, The Pit, The Gate, Troll, Ghoulies, Critters, Speak No Evil, Force Majeur, Bad Boy Bubby, the love of Terrence Stamp and Jane Fonda, and more! Our tribute episode to Burt Young, beloved wiseguy of countless films, best known for the Rocky series and - amongst OUR listenership - for being the angry dad in the deliciously wacky Amityville II. That SHOULD have been our tribute episode to him instead of this boring turkey that's trying really, really hard to be "Jaws on a beach" but ends up more like "nod off on the sofa". Spend some time in the sand with us!
The film of the week is Werner Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979.) From wiki: “Nosferatu the Vampyre (German: Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht, lit. 'Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night') is a 1979 horror film written and directed by Werner Herzog. It is set primarily in 19th-century Wismar, Germany and Transylvania, and was conceived as a stylistic remake of F. W. Murnau's 1922 German Dracula adaptation Nosferatu. The picture stars Klaus Kinski as Count Dracula, Isabelle Adjani as Lucy Harker, Bruno Ganz as Jonathan Harker, and French artist-writer Roland Topor as Renfield. There are two different versions of the film, one in which the actors speak English, and one in which they speak German.[3] “ But also, they discuss the John Waters show at the Academy Museum and all things John Waters. Josh discusses his Piggly Wiggly bucket list films, Blood Beach (1982) and Gator Bait (1973) and all about horror movie marketing. This episode Nez and Brian battle something under the sands on the Southern California coast in the 1980 horror classic BLOOD BEACH. Something or someone is attacking people one by one on the beach. Some of them are mutilated, but most of them are sucked into the sand, disappearing without a trace. What is the creature responsible? Where does it live, and where did it come from? And is there any chance of it reproducing? Meanwhile, David Huffman and Mariana Hill are once-almost-married old friends, reunited over the death of her mother on the beach, and searching for clues in the abandoned buildings where they used to play when they were young. We're here for week 2 of Beach Party Bonfires & Blood Month! Chant with us: "Blood Beach! Blood Beach! Blood Beach!" We're talking the oft-forgotten C-grade beach horror flick with a subterranean beach creature problem. There's locals and vacationers getting sucked under the sand and only one man - John Saxon - or, was it Burt Young (no, he's too busy daydreaming about Chicago) - or perhaps it was the Dr. Demetrios character that finally helped to troubleshoot this Santa Monica monster problem out? No matter - this film deserves your attention for its low-key charm, hammy acting including plenty of one liners and questionable moments like nosey neighbors commenting on morning routines, beach food vendors, a boat house duet (what the!?) and a Dr. who seemingly would give the Matt Hooper character from Jaws a run for his money. Be careful how you destroy these fictitious creatures, because the creators clearly had a sequel in mind that never was.

In this episode, we discuss one of the many tragic attempts to capitalize on the success of “Jaws,” 1981’s Blood Beach! The movie is about a giant plant monster that lives under the beach and slurps up tourists and townies on the sand. Our guest, Brad Shreve (Author, and host of Queer Writers of Crime) suggested this movie, so you only have him to blame. Blood Beach is available on YouTube. Episode sponsored by BRÜÜSH. Andy and Alyssa read Goosebumps #21: Go Eat Worms! They discuss Tremors (1990), worm-like foods, Ohio pride, science fairs, Paperbacks from Hell by Grady Hendrix, blending horror and comedy, animal revenge stories, Blood Beach (1981), Squirm (1976), infestation horror, Goodnight Mommy (2014), manipulating fear, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), Leopold & Loeb stories (Murder by Numbers [2002], Rope [1948]), Heavenly Creatures (1994), the "evil queers" trope, and troubling Civil War References. Also, Andy misreads the end of the book and Alyssa can't stop cracking up over a dumb movie tagline. // Music by Haunted Corpse // Follow @saypodanddie on Twitter and Instagram, and get in touch at saypodanddie@gmail.com

Mike and Eric begin the Summer of Sand as we take in the horrors of the beach with Blood Beach as the first sand based horror we know of. not the greatest as we all have a better movie in mind. but this did some things right. We now have a website! Nicole thought that this month would be a great time for a beach party, with the comedy troupe, Broken Lizard, as her guests of honor. Having been wanting to re-watch Club Dread (2004), she saw this as the perfect opportunity to work them into the podcast. But not so fast, Nicole! If we're going to watch a spoof of horror slashers that takes place at a resort, then you're going to have to suffer through some other beach horror. After years of seeing the VHS cover art, the Common Craig uses this episode as an excuse to finally watch Blood Beach (1980). Can it live up the classic poster art, or should it have stayed buried in the sand? And just who is the nastiest thing on the beach in the 60s? Radioactive sludge monsters or Tina covered in chocolate syrup? Find out in the epic horror musical, The Horror of Party Beach (1964)! And then from there, a motorcycle with a built-in electric chair? You'd better believe it! Or you will, when you see it in Nightmare Beach (1989).

This week on the podcast, we go to the beach - but never make it past the sand! That's right, we caught the movie with one of the best posters of all time, Blood Beach. Not from 1980 you say? Well, it played a film festival in 1980 so too bad. We discuss this monster movie starring John Saxon and more, whether or not it is as good as its advertising, and decide if sticking a piece of celery into a baguette counts as a sandwich. Finally, we have our latest playlist of tracks from 1980 for you to listen to, right here. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2NOWlTzZtIkH04opv3zqKU?si=7LvS9d8WSOuQ_BexH_CA4A --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/time-bandits/message
On this episode of Gore with a Pour, Tracy gets Sarah and Jessy too drunk to record a proper episode. "Blood Beach" by Jeffrey Bloom becomes too hot to handle with shirtless men, dick euphemisms and a whole lot of vodka.

Originally Released: Jan 2011 On the "Exploited Cinema" feed Jdog & Bat32 are back once again. The cold winter and bad connections tried to keep them down, but of course nothing can kill Exploited Cinema. This week's episode is a bit of a wild card. In OBSCURE: the boys are dishing up a greasy double feature. Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975) & Last House on Dead End Street (1977). In VHS VAULT: they have a highly underrated film starring John Saxon and Burt Young, Blood Beach (1981). Recorded Saturday June 22nd, 2019 Our Summer season of Horror episode sequels continues with That 80's Slasher Episode III: That Killer Summer! Tune in as your loveable and a bit nutty hosts, Tim and Chris tackle two 80's horror flicks that just may leave you a little sun burned and possibly give you some school spirit. First Tim and Chris hit the beach with their review "Blood Beach" (1981). They then head off to camp to with their review "Cheerleader Camp" (1988). "If JAWS and Tremors got drunk and had a weird ass love child, I believe Blood Beach would be it's offspring." - Tim All this and a brand new Kidz Corner with Nate! #Bloodbeach #Cheerleadercamp #80sSlashers #THSP #SEPN #Cool80sPosters
It's been a year, and I'm working on some other projects and have not come back for Halloween II yet. So, here is the first of several remixes of the early episodes that didn't have great sound quality. My eagerness to jump in outweighed my patience for figuring out a good mixing program. This is a much longer version of Minute 1, with two of my sisters and me talking about the Halloween houses, Solarbabies, Blood Beach, Motel Hell, Rob Zombie's remake and why the original is scary. Plus, we talk about the first few credits--Mustapha Akkad, Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nancy Loomis, and PJ Soles--as well as Janet Leigh, the final girl, and what it means to be a slut.
Pack up the car and bring plenty of sunscreen because we're kicking off our Vicious Vacations theme with a trip to Blood Beach from 1980! Topics include weird food, Pure Moods, and the many ways we can make this movie better. Check out our bumper up front for details on our next live event!
In the latest edition of Film Freaks Forever!, we head to the beach and to the swimming pools for summer fun! Slather on some sunscreen, grab your surfboards, and jump in your dune buggy as the Film Freaks, Mark Jordan Legan and Phoef Sutton, shine a light on four eclectic summertime films. They discuss the origins of the whole subgenre with “Gidget” and the Frankie and Annette Beach movies to John Milius' cult surfer's film “Big Wednesday.” They also head to the trippy late 1960s Burt Lancaster flick “The Swimmer” and an amazing, campy 1980s horror film, “Blood Beach,” where the beach itself is attacking and killing people! Take that “Jaws!” Today’s episode is sponsored by Final Draft.
This week on the show, the Ghoul of Geek Keith is taking the boys of Talking Terror to the beach. It's going to be a killer beach party. If only they can get to the water and all the bikini clad babes! There's something in the sand and it is hungry! So as the boys keep their toes out of the sand, listen in as they discuss the 2015 film "The Sand" directed by Issac Gabaeff! Also known as "Killer Beach" and acts as a loose remake of the 1980 cult classic "Blood Beach". Before the movie discussion, there will be plenty of talking points that you won't want to miss! Prepare for the scares and laughs!

So fresh off of our podcast awards nomination we release THIS abomination. F13 was sick and DZ couldnt figure out how to work his movie machine so we only have one feature, Blood Beach, and F13 in a fit of fever rage pulls back the curtain on some inner workings. Well... there IS at least a long feedback section. That's... something?
