Ruchi starts by sharing a story about how she thought a Prada purse would make her happy when she was on Wall Street. We are searching for external validation, but it really comes down to the work we do internally. Ruchi shares about the success and corporate ladder climbing she did early on, and how hollow it really felt. After hiring a coach, she found her calling as a “financial therapist.” It was learning about the 3 pillars that changed everything for Ruchi: well-being, spirituality, and relationships. Well-being means asking the question, what brings you joy? Budget time and money for those things! A key point is to always expand your comfort zone. A huge part of the spirituality pillar is to pay attention to more of your 60,000 thoughts per day. Use the RIR method, recognize the thoughts, interrupt them when they're negative, and reframe them positively. Both Lauren and Ruchi share real examples of the RIR method in their own lives. As for the final pillar, relationships, ask yourself when you're at your best, who are you with? Not everyone is meant to be in our lives forever. Keep in mind how you want to feel every day. Be clear about what you want your life to be like in one year. If you liked this episode, you'll also like episode 31: Financial Planning for Women and 118: Friends, FOMO, and Finances. According to Chris (and probably all STR hosts really), your cleaner is your most important team member. With a low performing cleaner, you'll have a low performing property. Chris outlines 5 ways to find cleaners: 1) messaging other hosts on Airbnb, 2) searching online and reading through websites, 3) drive around at check out time and talk to cleaners, 4) local investor groups, like on social media, and 5) apps, like Turno. Both Lauren and Chris recommend having the same cleaner or small group of cleaners so they're familiar with your properties and it isn't different people in and out of there every day. Chris offered more advice. Don't be afraid to ask for references. Interview multiple cleaners. Give them positive feedback. Pay them well. How to price your cleans? You can use the “enemy method,” online data sources, or getting quotes from cleaning companies. Lauren points out that short-term rental cleans are very different from typical cleans. The cleaners should think differently too. But make sure they know what their responsibilities are up front. Checklists help with this. Chris is open about some rubs he's had with cleaners: propane tanks, missing TV, cornhole sets being misplaced, etc. Chris's final thoughts: use data and educate yourself before you jump in. Going back to her California roots, Cynthia and her family decided that a vineyard in Healdsburg is just the place for family and friend vacations. What has started out as a novelty is now becoming a full-scale business. Naming it Dancing Vineyard, Cynthia and Lauren's mission is to take the mystery and intimidation out of enjoying wine by creating a product to be enjoyed on all occasions. With their unique crop and acreage, and their focus on the integrity of the vines and soil, we can't wait to enjoy their wine "for the fun of it"! Cynthia and Lauren detail the history of zinfandel grapes, their primary varietal, which have a sweet fruity flavor with a touch of spice. These grapes mix well with other varietals to make the desired wine that is enjoyable to drink, and not daunting to purchase. A historic grape, zinfandel was brought to the U.S. from Croatia in the early 1800s. These grapes mix well with other varietals to make the desired wine. Cynthia graduated from Claremont McKenna College, has her MBA from Harvard, and a Doctorate from the Department of Organization and Leadership at Columbia University. Lauren graduated from Dartmouth and has her MBA from Columbia University. Both Lauren and Cynthia have extensive marketing, consulting, and business management experience.

While Lauren marvels at Kieran's sharpshooting ability, he pulls her to safety and freaks out over her being shot. We freak out over him freaking out and his face touch! And her hand touch when she tries to calm him down. We theorize that Kieran is traumatized with what happened to his protectee. Regardless, their connection is strengthening and we are in love. While Lauren and Kieran decide to go save the day, Will and Kym are trying to save Lukas, who hasn't lost his sharp tongue. The PS member takes advantage of Lauki's catwalk, and shoots some piping straight down, separating the catwalk and our beloved couples. Both Lauren and Kym urge their partner to go on, promising to reunite... And we all know what happens to dramatic promises made in times of crisis. Recorded in Barcelona, Spain. ***

On this episode of coaches' series Celeste Rains-Turk features the power couple behind Team Cosmic Bodies featuring Lauren Dannenmiller who has a BS in Health Science and has been a guest on the show as an IFBB bikini pro who won the 2017 NPC National bikini overall champion title and competitor Kyle Burns who has his BS in health and exercise science and is in pre doctorate stages for physical therapy. Celeste starts off the episode by asking Lauren and Kyle to share their coaching philosophy. Kyle explains how their priority is to take the most responsible approach possible and heavily emphasize educating their clients. Celeste then asks Kyle what inspired him to pursue his doctorate in Physical Therapy while also running his business. After discussing his goals in terms of his education, Celeste uses Kyle’s response to transition into the question of how he and Lauren know how far they can push an athlete. Lauren shares her thoughts on how both the athlete’s level their goals help determine how hard she will push them during their prep. Both Lauren and Kyle highlight the importance of trust and communication with their clients and how that affects the levels they are willing to push them to. Next, Celeste asks them how they prioritize their energy and focus since they coach clients at various levels and goals. Then, Lauren, and Kyle discuss their thoughts on a natural athlete’s potential for success in the NPC given that they may not be genetically gifted. Lauren and Kyle share their experiences and insight about the importance of patience and understanding that natural athletes, especially new to competing, need to be realistic with their expectations and timelines for their goals and how “living the lifestyle” will benefit them long term. Lauren, having been a natural athlete her entire competing career, shares valuable insight from her own experiences and again emphasizes how patience is key for both success and longevity in the sport. From there, Celeste asks Lauren and Kyle how they prioritize their clients hormone health. Lauren mentions why her and Kyle prefer longer preps for their clients and how that method allows for refeeds and diet breaks which both can help maintain healthy hormone levels for as long as possible during prep. They also mention how tracking a female competitors cycle adds to their data collection for their prep and how it plays a role in how they can better coach their clients. Celeste then asks Lauren and Kyle how they deal with the mental and emotional demands involved with coaching. The couple shares that although it’s still a work in progress, they have learned from their mentors about the importance of setting boundaries and specifying days or time away from work. They share that they feel this will give them not only longevity in coaching but allows for them to invest time and attention to their relationship. Next, Celeste asks Lauren and Kyle what they feel makes a good coach and team. The couple discusses what they feel is important and also mention goals they have for the future of Team Cosmic Bodies while still sticking to their principles and philosophies. Celeste then asks Lauren and Kyle what important questions an athlete should ask during the initial interview process and afterwards they share some of their coaching pet peeves. Celeste then asks Lauren and Kyle’s opinion on politics in competing. The conversation transitions into athlete qualities, and Celeste has Lauren and Kyle share what they feel separates the good from the phenomenal athletes. After discussing coaching philosophy Celeste starts the hypothetical round of questions. Celeste starts off the round by asking: if she was a competitor with overall wins under her belt, wanting to hit the national circuit yet is looking for a new coaching approach, why would she hire Lauren and Kyle. Lauren shares her experiences on her journey through various national shows on her road to pro and explains why those lessons make her a great coach. Next, the couple discusses how they address clients who express that they don’t feel they are ready for their upcoming show. Lauren and Kyle also share what they would like a first time competitor to know before deciding to commit to a contest prep. Celeste then asks how the couple approaches training and nutrition when a client comes to them after a bad rebound. Lastly, Celeste asks if Lauren and Kyle would still put an athlete on stage if they have executed their plan to a tee, except for their posing and stage presentation. Celeste then moves on to the rapid fire round of questions, asking the couple to give short one-sentence answers to topics such as waist trainers, macros vs meal plans, fed vs fasted, and HIIT or steady state cardio, water cutting and supplements. Based off of their responses, Celeste takes the lead and asks Lauren and Kyle to expand on their thoughts on water cutting during peak week and before a show. Next, Celeste asks the couple to share why they advocate for the use of creatine. After discussing creatine and other supplementation, Kyle shares his thoughts on waist trainers. To conclude the episode, Lauren and Kyle tell listeners where and how they can find and connect with them further. Welcome to episode thirty-eight of the Löw Tide Böyz, a Swimrun Podcast! We’ve got a super-comprehensive course preview for you this week. We’re doing a deep dive to give you as much information as possible for Ödyssey Swimrun Austin happening on November 8, 2020. This is our second attempt at this type of show and we tweaked the format a little bit to take into account that this will be the first year for this event. These episodes are pretty labor intensive and we definitely could not have done this without the help from Lars Finanger and the rest of the crew from Ödyssey Swimrun, Lauren and Matt Hurley from the Black Sheep Endurance Project, and Bronwen and Greg from team Boston Wet Sox. A huge thank you for sharing all their insight for this show.Let’s get right to it!The Stars at Night are Big and Bright…. (Getting to Austin and What to Do)Swimrun has arrived in Texas! For anyone who’s not familiar with the great state of Texas, it’s a pretty massive state with a lot of variety in terms of terrain and climates. Swimrun Austin takes place in Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, Texas. This Park is within the city limits of Austin and is about an hour drive (40ish miles away/1hr drive) from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Here’s a handy link for directions via Google Maps.Hotels, rental cars, and food are plentiful. If you’ve never spent time in Austin, we think that you’ll enjoy the vibe and the food is amazing although it skews towards non-vegetarians, I.e., Texas BBQ is legendary and totally worth checking out places like Salt Lick and Iron Works for BBQ and Moonshine Grill for southern comfort food (they have vegetarian options here.) You also can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants on Rainey St. near downtown Austin. PRO TIP: save the BBQ for after the race.Yee-haw! (Intro to Swimrun Austin)The Austin Hill Country, where the race is located, is well known for trail running and water sports so it’s a natural place to combine those two activities for a Swimrun race. We chatted with Ödyssey Race Director Lars Finanger about how he found Pace Bend Park and why he thought that it would be a great place to host a Swimrun.Lars gave us a lot of info about Pace Bend Park and explained why this location is perfectly suited for Swimrunning. The courses don’t favor runners or swimmers and have a good mix of both making it a great race for everyone. Ride’em Cowboy! (Ödyssey Swimrun Austin Short and Long Course Breakdowns)Swimrun Austin offers two distance options: short course (total distance 8.96 miles; total run 7.04 miles; total swim 3396 yards/1.92 miles) and long course (total distance 16.42 miles; total run 13.04 miles; total swim 6036 yards/3.38 miles). Both courses offer solo and team divisions. You can check out the detailed map for both courses here. The air temperature on race day can be unpredictable. While the average air temp. for early November is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. According to the weather almanac, the weather on November 8 last year was 50 degrees. The water temps are pretty much unknown and could be anywhere 60-80 degrees.Lars shared with us a leg by leg breakdown of both the short and long courses and we have added as many details as we could to our leg summaries below. In short, the theme for Swimrun Austin is race “heads up” and follow the pink ribbons and flags.Ödyssey Swimrun Austin Short Course Leg Breakdown:Run 1 - 2.11 miles (Flat run)Swim 1 - 663 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 2 - 1.28 miles (Slightly hilly run)Swim 2 - 1166 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 3 - 2.49 miles (Flat/rocky run; Cliff jump option into Swim 3)Swim 3 - 1582 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 4 - 1.15 miles (Flat run) Ödyssey Swimrun Austin Long Course Leg Breakdown:Run 1 - 2.11 miles (Flat run)Swim 1 - 663 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 2 - 1.28 miles (“Lite” hills run)Swim 2 - 1166 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 3 - 2.12 miles (A little hard to plot out but it looks pretty flat)Swim 3 - 1145 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 4 - 3.33 miles (Slightly less flat but still pretty flat run; this run is exposed and could be very hot)Swim 4 - 536 yards (Swimming against the current)Run 5 - .56 miles (Flat run; this is a “teamwork-heavy” section; cliff jump option into Swim 5)Swim 5 - 955 yards (Swimming against the current)Run 6 - 2.49 miles (Flat/Rocky run; cliff jump option into Swim 6)Swim 6 - 1582 yards (Swimming with the current)Run 7 - 1.15 miles (Flat run)Time for Supper! (Nutrition on the course)The short course has 3 energy stations. The long course has 5 energy stations. It’s important to note that several of the aid stations are before swim entrances so planning your nutrition and hydration accordingly. The aid stations will have gels, electrolytes, and other snacks for participants. Both courses are cup-less so remember to bring a collapsible flask or cup with you.As far as we know, there will not be any Texas BBQ at the aid stations.Giddy Up! (Training for Swimrun Austin)We chatted with Lauren and Matt Hurley from the Black Sheep Endurance Project to get their advice for training for the terrain in Pace Bend Park. They emphasized making sure that the swim fitness was dialed in before the event to make the race experience more enjoyable. They shared some key swim workouts to do that emphasize doing main sets after fatigue has set in.We also asked Bronwen and Greg of team Boston Wet Sox how they are training for the Austin Long Course distance. They shared with us how they are ramping up for the race and mentioned that they plan to do a couple of race simulations of 3.5-4 hours to make sure that they are dialed in for the race. Both Lauren and Matt and the Boston Wet Sox emphasized having a plan for the cliff jump sections. To sum it up, teams should have already figured out how they are going to negotiate the jumps (if they even decide to do them). Definitely do not jump with the tether attached. Jump feet first. Think about what you are going to do with your gear to make sure that it doesn’t go flying off. Finally, our friends at Envol Coaching have also put together a 6-week training plan (for a fee) for folks that want a plan from the super-experienced Nicolas Remirez for both the short course and long course distances. We think that participants have plenty of resources for training even though this Is a first-year event.Ride off into the sunset (Final Thoughts)Well, there you have it! Ödyssey Swimrun Austin in a nutshell. We hope to see a bunch of familiar and new faces in Texas and look forward to closing out 2020 with some racing. If you were on the fence on signing up but we’ve managed to convince you…use the code LOWTIDEBOYZ when you register to save 25% on your registration fee. We’re always trying to improve the show and we’d love to hear your feedback so let us know what you think. We wanted to give a final thanks once again to Lars and the Ödyssey Swimrun crew, Lauren and Matt Hurley of Black Sheep Endurance Project, and Bronwen and Greg of the Boston Wet Sox for their help in getting this course preview together. That’s it for this week’s show. We've been nominated for Best Podcast in the Creative Impact Awards! To vote for Period Story, go to www.creativeimpact.group/awards/To round out season 3 of Period Story, I’m really excited to share today’s episode with twin sisters Lauren Lee-Crane and Catherine Lee. They are the founders of Semaine, a health and wellness supplement for people with painful periods. I loved our conversation and am really grateful they shared their story of living with endometriosis, going through various surgeries, being Asian in the ballet world and of course, the story of their first periods.Catherine said that her first period was very memorable because her mom made homemade Frappuccinos to toast the occasion! Within a few months, she said that she was already asking for a hysterectomy. Lauren says she got her period after Catherine and really didn’t want it.We talked about being bunheads, which is the term for girls who do ballet at a relatively high level and how they navigated this very structured, hierarchical and rigid world. They were often told that they were too exotic for the ballet world and that they didn’t have the right ‘look’.Lauren talks about how as ballerinas, they learned to suppress and numb themselves to any pain they experienced and this translated to the endometriosis pain as well. Lauren says they thought of it as just another pain they had to deal with. Both Lauren and Catherine shared their endometriosis journeys, with Lauren getting diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and Catherine getting diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis. Lauren described the pain she experienced as ‘a bouquet of knives sort of sitting up in her pelvis’. Catherine describes her pain as ‘feeling like she had a bowling ball in her uterus’.Catherine and Lauren shared stories of their pain being dismissed by doctors and health professional in quite critical moments and how they’ve learned to advocate for themselves in health situations. Catherine says that it’s important to become an expert in your body and Lauren says to trust yourself and advocate for yourself. On this episode of the Live Well Podcast, I'll be speaking with sisters Lauren Lee-Crane & Catherine Lee, founders of Semaine Health, about their experience with endometriosis and reducing period pain. Both Lauren and Catherine have had experiences with endometriosis throughout their lives, and they're on a mission to normalize the conversation about periods and period pains. This is the reason why they wanted to start their company, Semaine Health, a health & wellness company that takes women's pain seriously. Their first product which is natural, plant-based, and rigorously tested, helps empower women by specifically addressing period pain. Today we'll hear more about their story and learn more about the conventional and holistic tools that have helped them along their journey. To learn more, check out semainehealth.com.
Jul. 13, 2020 – In this episode the girls discuss the book "The 5 Love Languages of Children" by Gary Chapman and how it can help us to connect more with our children and be a better parent overall. They open the show with a little bit of background on the Love Language books - sharing how they first learned of them and how they've helped their relationships. They then move on to discussing general themes throughout the book including "the love tank" and "unconditional vs. conditional love". The girls break these points down and apply them to their own parenting practices and chat candidly on how they can do better. They then discuss the message of hope that they felt from this book - and how there isn't some great process of healing that needs to happen in order to correct our parenting paths. But instead, that this method requires you to just assess your child's love language and mindfully apply it throughout the day to ensure they FEEL the love that you're showing them. Before the girls dive into the specific love languages they first share what they think theirs are personally. What's your love language? Do you know yet? Sarah and Lauren point out how they feel love and how they feel its impacted their longtime friendship. They then dive into discussing each love language in depth - starting off with PHYSICAL TOUCH. Sarah opens up that discussion sharing the results of infant studies that have been done regarding the impact that physical touch has on infant development (spoiler alert: it's super important!) The girls share personal stories of how they interact with their own children and how it evolves from the early infant years to when they're older. Lauren recognizes that her oldest son might be reaching out to her in ways and the girls even discuss how important it is for dad to be involved. They discuss the important role Dad has in their children's lives and how it might require a conscious effort for them to physically be affectionate with their children as they grow older. They then close the topic by giving specific examples of how you can implement Physical Touch with your children. The next love language discussed is WORDS OF AFFIRMATION. Both Lauren and Sarah share that their primary love language is Words of Affirmation. Sarah further breaks down this topic into specific categories and the girls discuss specific examples of how you an implement each (these categories including Words of Affection and Words of Praise). They discuss the power words can have and how we can do damage with our words if this is our child's primary love language. They then discuss the next love language, QUALITY TIME and how some of their children very much speak this language. They share signs that they've seen in their day-to-day lives where they are begging to spend quality time with them, but how they haven't stopped to met that need (because they instead just dismissed it as them being needy or high maintenance). They then discuss how as your children get older it will be required of the parent to go to the child and immerse yourself in their interests in order to provide opportunities for quality time. They provide specific examples of how this can be implemented (especially with older children and teens). They close up this love language by discussing Quality Conversation and how this is deeply important to children how primarily speak this love language. **Due to time the girls will continue discussing the other 2 love languages in the next episode of The Mom Voice - in addition to breaking down how you can discover your child's love language. So make sure to Subscribe to the show and stay tuned for that!** Closing the show with their hits and misses, Sarah shares her hit of reducing her Diet Coke intake and Lauren's miss of keeping the dang car clean! They hope this episode hopes to inspire all you mamas out there - we're all in

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to increasing end-user efficiency and happiness with the EHR.The good news is, with the right mix of tools and resources, you can help your users feel more comfortable and efficient in the EHR. We’re seeing this firsthand from organizations that report having happy end-users. The bad news is, as you may have expected, there’s no quick-fix for this problem. It takes time to figure out the best formula, or mix of tools and resources, that will increase user adoption, and ultimately, satisfaction with the EHR. Lauren Griessmeyer, our Director of Training solutions, recently sat down with Dr. Amy Maneker, a physician executive here at Nordic, to discuss this formula for end-user happiness. Both Lauren and Dr. Maneker have spent the past decade helping organizations improve user adoption by focusing on four key areas:• Shared ownership• Education• EHR personalization• System configuration and refinementIn this podcast, they discuss how these four components play an important role in helping organizations overcome EHR challenges and increase user happiness. They also share examples and advice for addressing these issues head-on.

In this conversation we covered: - Both Lauren and Corryn's upbringings. - Why Lauren decided to go vegan. - How Corryn decided not to pursue a career in the corporate world. - The beginning and growth of Kynd Cafe in Seminyak. - Pushing through self doubt and fear. - Opening a completely not for profit cafe, called Give, in Canggu. And much more! Hope you enjoy the show!

This week, we are joined by a powerhouse of a life coach, university lecturer, public speaker, and author, Lauren Handel Zander. Lauren has over 20 years’ experience of challenging people to tell the truth, change their habits and really “cut the crap” in their life. She talks about the steps in her life that led her to found the Handel Group, an International Corporate Consulting and Life Coaching Company, that employs her no-nonsense and practical approach, the Handel Method. Her coaching methodology is not for the faint of heart and is sought out in over 35 universities and institutes of learning around the world including MIT, Stanford, and NYU. Lauren practices what she preaches, and shares the way she takes the principles of her book, Maybe It’s You: Cut the Crap. Face Your Fears. Love Your Life, and uses them in her work with CEOs, teams, and organizations. Key Takeaways: [2:23] Lauren brings her whole self to work and life and encourages others to be transparent, and act in a way where what you see is what you actually get. [5:33] Lauren’s job at the United Nations showed her she cared about the environment but felt like an imposter working in a situation that wasn’t a definite “yes” to her. She traveled instead down the self-help path and shares the journey of how she stepped out on her own and worked hard to get 40 clients out of the gate. [12:46] Both Lauren and I agree that education could have an even larger impact by adding more in the realm of teaching young people how to eat healthy, interpersonal human communication skills, and just generally be a capable and responsible human. [14:24] Lauren’s class at Stanford, and pretty much any work she does, is for people that are truly ready to disrupt, change, or face everything in their lives. [16:25] When we lie and bury our secrets, we are actually keeping it stuck in our lineage for generations to come. Issues are handed down, and we must do things differently to change the patterns of our past, present, and future. [25:34] Lauren starts from the top down when working with a corporate team. She teaches the whole culture how to have difficult conversations, sniffs out who no longer should be at the job, and cleans up toxic relationships so the company can function as a connected unit. [32:25] Lauren mixes up the voice and tone of her company by employing 30 other coaches besides herself. Depending on the type of person a company or individual clicks with best, she most likely has a coach that fits it. [35:02] There is pride in owning your secrets. It is erroneous to think that our hidden secrets will go unnoticed, as they almost always have a vice attached to them. [40:46] Our political climate now is a prime example of needing to tell the truth and deal with the reality of what is actually happening in our life. [43:41] Whether it’s our weight, debt, relationship or something in our jobs, we must tell the truth and face it for what it is. Then, the real progress and growth come.
