Name: Brandon Alexander Current Title: Founder/CEO Invent you Location: New York Educational Background: BS - Accounting - UCONN MBA in Progress - St. John's University (Tobin College of Business) About Brandon: Brandon Alexander, born and raised in Jamaica, NY, has dedicated his life to helping others achieve financial success. He got the opportunity to leave the inner city and attend high school in the suburbs of Connecticut. This was pivotal for his perspective. He realized wealthy families were discussing finance and business ideas, while folks in his hometown rarely discussed these topics and looked at money as corrupt and unattainable. After high school, Brandon attended the University of Connecticut School of Business and majored in accounting. After graduating from UCONN, Brandon started working full-time at KPMG. This gave him the opportunity to truly understand how money worked. He consulted billion-dollar corporations on strategy, accounting, and finance. Although he consulted on billions of dollars, Brandon went from making 6 figures at 23 years old to be 6 figures in debt. He went from his 3 bedroom apartment in Harlem to his mother's house in Queens. This was the result of not adjusting his spending and lifestyle from being a 6-figure earner to being a full-time entrepreneur. He sensed a shift was needed and thus, he quickly put things in place to correct his financial trajectory. Brandon founded InventYou to help millennials dominate their finances, become who they want to be, and ultimately, have peace of mind. His personal experiences have taught him that it is easy to make money, and even easier to lose it all. InventYou provides various avenues for financial education such as the InventYou WealthCamp, WealthRaps, and the InventYou Podcast. Brandon is currently pursuing his MBA at Tobin College of Business with a concentration in Finance. He is a financial educator, financial commentator as well as an author and investor. Seyoum Bey, AKA "BeyBnb", joins Brandon Alexander on the InventYou Podcast to discuss how he was able to make his fortune with AirBnb. Here are a few takeaways from this episode: 1. Have a closet with a lock inside of the apartment where you and your cleaners are the only ones who have access to. The reason being is that one, you want to store any extra linen, towels, or resources in this closet as it will help you manage your inventory. Often times guest will use more than what they need if the have access to it. So to control inventory have a locked closet in your unit(s). 2. Protect your asset (Unit) by getting a ring and noise monitor. Have a ring to see who is coming in and out of your unit and to ensure any rules that you have set are being followed. In addition you want to have a noise monitor to ensure there are no parties or large gatherings taking place as that could potentially compromise the integrity of your business. 3. Smaller units tend to be easier to manage than larger units. All of my units are one bedrooms and I try to stay below 800 square feet for my units as it's easier for my cleaners to turn the unit around for the next guest. I also spend less money decorating the walls, because generally the more square footage the more decor you will need for the wall and random spaces of the home. 4. If you're looking to expand your Airbnb Short Term Rental business search and get apartments during the winter as the demand for apartments are low and therefore rent is generally lower and often times complexes will offer concessions like free Application and Admin fee, or even 1-2months rent free. SHOW NOTES: This week I do something different. This week, I'm talking with Networking specialist and son of a physician, Mr. Brandon “the Network King” Alexander. He and I chatted about the Art of Networking. Highlights from the conversation: · Networking is all about having a conversation · Sometimes as introverts, we steer away from networking because it feels overwhelming or like it will be draining, but with specific intention, you can avoid that feeling · The key is setting an intention and a strategy before the networking event · Many times we are so in our heads about saying the wrong thing, we forget that everyone else is likely feeling the same way. · Taking action is the only way to overcome the inertia · Taking action can be as simple as saying “hi” and making some small talk to break the ice · Focus on commonalities in the beginning to get related · Get to the point, and invite them to connect outside the event. Use your calendar Catch up with Brandon Alexander by visiting him at http://linktr.ee/TheNetworkKing See you on the next one! Hosted by: Dr. Maiysha Clairborne

If you try to implement something and the user doesn't have a good experience with it, or it does something over the phone like battery life, you might want to rethink that feature or rethink the assumptions of your application.

I’m also an author, a conference speaker, and I’ve also done a training video to appear soon. CHUCK: Nice! Sounds like fun! What book did you write? I’m curious… BRANDON: The book I wrote is called “Pro iOS 5 Tools”. It’s a couple of versions of iOS old, but the techniques in the book are still completely valid today. CHUCK: Very nice. Alright, we’ll tell people to go check it out. We brought you on the show to talk about “Performance Tuning” for your iOS app. I think it’s interesting; we’re talking about a resource-constrained environment. Is it about the user’s experience? Or, are there other concerns as well that we’re trying to optimize for? BRANDON: Ultimately, it’s about the user experience. If you try to implement something and the user doesn’t have a good experience with it, or it does something over the phone like battery life, you might want to rethink that feature or rethink the assumptions of your application.
