Doug Landis (Growth Partner at Emergence Capital and Advisor to companies like Sales Assembly) mentioned in a recent Forbes article: “When selling to larger companies you must come to every social, email and live conversation with a point of view about their business...You have to know what they are focused on as those strategic initiatives for the business will trickle down to every department across the organization.” You need to show the role you can play in their strategic initiatives and the impact you will have otherwise, and you will just be another item on their list of things to do eventually. You cannot come to every interaction with a point of view about your future customers' businesses if your team does not have a clear point of view about their business. Unfortunately, too many teams do not have a POV and even the experts are getting POVs wrong.  In the podcast below, Kristina Jaramillo (President of Personal ABM) shares:·         Why a VR tech firm targeting the Fortune 1000 with solutions to help with employee training and engagement are only getting interest from Directors and below and are not capturing attention from VPs and the C-suite. ·         Why a digital asset management tech firm was challenged to compete with Bynder that would win on price and with suites like Adobe and Sitecore.·         How top marketers like Sangram Vajre are getting POVs wrong and how its limiting the ability of GTM teams to create a category, drive demand with status quo accounts and teach for differentiation.  ·         How you need to build the foundation (including creating your POV) before you can effectively complete ABM where you can come to each interaction with a POV about your future clients' businesses. We need to build the foundation to change sales and marketing motions as it is our POV that you are just doing targeted demand gen if you are not changing sales and marketing motions, interactions, and experiences. This is why companies are challenged to go upmarket, why they have accounts go dark after sales engagement and why sales cycles are too long.

On this week's episode of The SaaS Revolution Show, we talk with Lidia Lüttin, VP Marketing at Happeo, a company hailing from Helsinki, which aims to connect the global workforce of enterprises. Lidia has always been a marketer. The kind that prefers the early scrappy days of starting up than the arguably settled clear days of scaling up. It's why she recently moved from 300-person Bynder to the 20-person Happeo, formerly known as Universe. It was the employee count plus the vision of the CEO that convinced Lidia to join the company. However, there was also a drive in her to implement what she calls revenue-driven marketing from scratch. At Bynder, Lidia had learned that just looking after vanity metrics such as lead numbers, engagement and awareness was not a way to have a real impact on the business. Rather it had to be directly connected to revenue, something she now is fully subscribed to. Listen on to learn: What is revenue-driven marketing What does the marketing team focus on when doing revenue-driven marketing What are some of the best channels to use when doing revenue-driven marketing and why Linkedin isn't one of them At SaaStock Lidia will take us through her experience in building and scaling marketing operations and teams. There will be much more marketing wisdom at SaaStock and SaaS.City from the likes of Dave Gerhardt, VP of Marketing at Drift, Megan Eisenberg, CMO, MongoDB, Ryan Carlson, CMO at Okta, Kieran Flanagan, VP Marketing at HubSpot, April Dunford and many more. On the latest episode of the SaaS Revolution Show Alex is joined by Chris Hall, CEO at Dutch marketing tech company Bynder. In the conversation they touch on the pillars that define the journey of a CEO - from scaling and growing the company, its culture and its people to the personal transformation a CEO undergoes and how to deal with it. One key lesson he has picked on the way is that the most satisfying thing about being a CEO is seeing every person succeed in the right role. Founded in 2013, Bynder was a spin-off from Label A, a web development agency Chris ran with his co-founders Roland Keijzer and Stefan Pelders. The company bootstrapped its way to $10 million ARR in the following three years. “When you are bootstrapped, your only problem is cash,” Chris says. “Every purchase you make feels like it's coming from your pocket.” To seize the potential Bynder had for growth, it needed the sort of cash injection that comes with VC funding. By August 2016, Bynder secured a $20 million Series A round. Chris had to very quickly transition from the entrepreneur that fixed everything to the CEO that would let go and allow others to do it. Listen on to hear: How to stop micromanaging people. How to tackle the challenges of being the CEO of a venture-backed scaling company. How to balance the act between listening to your own gut and what blogs and podcasts are telling you to do. How to get and keep the right people at the different stages of a company growth. How to create an authentic and genuine culture and live up to the words you put out as CEO. Please let us know how we are doing by leaving a review on your favourite podcast application.
