Have you been feeling spiritually “open,” more sensitive, more aware — or even a little discombobulated? In this episode of The Constance Messmer Podcast, we'll take an informative excursion into the Crown Chakra — the gateway to higher consciousness, mysticism, divine connection, and ClairCognizance (clear knowing). I explain how the Crown Chakra spirals upward as a gateway to upper planes of awareness, how the Crown Chakra paired with the 11 Soul Senses can bring clear knowing and insight, and why Crown Chakra activation can sometimes feel like spiritual overwhelm before it becomes clarity. I'll also share with you practical ways to work with this chakra through stillness, meditation, and intentional awareness.

They talk together a little about the strike and Mr. Hale suggests that Thornton is anxious about the situation. When they get home, all joy they were feeling is ripped away from them by a look of horror on Dixon's face. They enter and find Dr. Donaldson taking care of Mrs. Hale. She has had a fit and is very, very unwell, and has been administered a sedative. Mr. Hale is finally informed of the state of his wife's health and is distraught by the terrifying news. He initially upset with Margaret for keeping it from him, but the Doctor tells him that it is he that is to blame, and not Margaret. The doctor tells Mr Hale to go to bed and leave the family alone. Everyone refuses to go to bed, so Dixon, Margaret, and her father watch over Mrs. Hale. Dixon eventually nods off, but Margaret watches carefully over her mother and responds to her father's questions. After her father goes to sleep too, Margaret reflects on Harley Street and Helstone, two places that she wishes she could go back to, to get away from the tragedies of the North. In the morning, it seems like the previous night was all but a dream. Mrs. Hale doesn't know how ill she was and is shocked to see Dr. Donaldson so early. After a few days, she gets permission to return to the drawing room, but that night, she becomes feverish again. Dr. Donaldson says that it is a reaction to the medicine that he has used and recommends that they try to find a waterbed for Mrs. Hale, stating that Mrs. Thornton has one she could maybe lend and asks Margaret if she could make the trip to Marlborough street to ask for it. In the afternoon, Margaret starts walking to the Thornton's, her head full of thoughts about her mother's health. She doesn't notice anything different about the streets, but around her, many people are heaving, and talking, and listening, while she moves through the streets. When she gets to Marlborough street however, she starts to feel the oppressive atmosphere, and as she gets to the Thornton's, the crowd starts to make its way towards the Factory. She is cautiously let in by the porter and is rushed into the house.SEO stuff I don't want to do. Elizabeth Gaskell's classic, "North and South" sees Margaret Hale's live uprooted as her family moves to the north of England. Initially disgusted by the ugliness of the industrial town of Milton, Margaret develops a strong sense of social justice after seeing the poverty and suffering of local mill workers.

The theological maxim that "whatever is received is received according to the mode of the receiver" dictates the teleology of the beginner's approach to Mental Prayer. Before a soul can endure the profound Silence of God, the lower faculties—specifically the imagination and the sensory appetites—must be habituated to spiritual realities. Discursive reflection serves as the material cause for this initial phase of prayer, gradually drawing the soul away from the measure of the world and reorienting it toward the measure of Christ. This fundamental shift mortifies the ego and begins the purification of the will, preparing the intellect for the deeper, stripping work of the Dark Night. The Function of the Imagination: How discursive meditation utilizes the lower faculties to transition the soul from sensory dependence to genuine spiritual affection. The Metaphysics of Detachment: Why true renunciation transcends the mere absence of finite goods and requires the active mortification of the will against pride and outcomes. The Mode of the Receiver: How habituating the intellect through the initial frameworks of St. John of the Cross expands the soul's capacity to receive grace.Clearing the Vapors: The necessity of determined constancy in prayer to remove the attachments that obscure the divine light from illuminating the soul.I wrote a comprehensive guide on the metaphysics of the Dark Night and how to navigate it without losing your mind. There's an intense feeling of spiritual anguish when the believer feels abandoned by God. Psalm 88 reflects that anguish in what has been called the darkest and gloomiest of Psalms and a psalm filled with one wail of sorrow from beginning to end. But even this darkest of Psalms has a purpose. It reminds us that, despite our faith, our lives are sometimes filled with trouble and—often—there seems to be no end in sight. The Soul Rising Book Club is back!
In this episode, we're going deep into what the dark night of the soul actually is. The spiritual meaning behind it, why it so often shows up as burnout, identity crisis, spiritual depression, or a feeling of deep disconnection from your life, and how to move through it with surrender instead of force.
Today we look at Dark Night: A True Batman Story by Paul Dini and Eduardo Risso. It's really good. Before that, though, we go on some wild tangents and diversions about DC's upcoming film and television slate as well as the video game Disco Elysium. If you haven't played it or read Sacred and Terrible Air by Robert Kurvitz, you should.

Mirabai Starr is an award-winning author, internationally acclaimed speaker, and interspiritual teacher. She gives talks, retreats and workshops on the teachings of the mystics, the wisdom of the feminine, and contemplative practice, rooted in the transformational power of grief and loss. As a teenager, Mirabai lived at the Lama Foundation, an intentional spiritual community that has honored all the world's faith traditions since its inception in 1967, and the place where Ram Dass' iconic book, Be Here Now, was born. This ecumenical orientation became formative in the universal quality that permeates Mirabai's work. She was an adjunct professor of Philosophy and World Religions at the University of New Mexico-Taos for 20 years. Her emphasis has always been on making connections between the perennial teachings found at the heart of all the world's spiritual paths, in an effort to promote peace and justice. Mirabai lives in the mountains of New Mexico with her husband, Jeff Little (Ganga Das). Between them, they have four grown daughters and eight grandchildren. Mirabai's youngest daughter, Jenny, was killed in a car crash in 2001 at the age of fourteen. On that same day, her first book, a translation of the mystical masterpiece Dark Night of the Soul by the sixteenth century Spanish saint John of the Cross, was released. This experience, and the connection between profound loss and longing for the Divine, is the ground of her spiritual life. Drawing from 20 years of teaching Philosophy and World Religions and a lifetime of practice, Mirabai shares her wisdom worldwide on contemplative living, writing as a spiritual practice, and grief as a spiritual path. She has authored over a dozen books including Wild Mercy, Caravan of No Despair, Ordinary Mysticism, and revolutionary translations of sacred literature. Full Text of Readings Pentecost Sunday Lectionary: 62, 63 The Saint of the day is Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi's Story Mystical ecstasy is the elevation of the spirit to God in such a way that the person is aware of this union with God while both internal and external senses are detached from the sensible world. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi was so generously given this special gift of God that she is called the “ecstatic saint.” Catherine de' Pazzi was born into a noble family in Florence in 1566. The normal course would have been for her to have married into wealth and enjoyed comfort, but Catherine chose to follow her own path. At 9, she learned to meditate from the family confessor. She made her first Communion at the then-early age of 10, and made a vow of virginity one month later. At 16, Catherine entered the Carmelite convent in Florence because she could receive Communion daily there. Catherine had taken the name Mary Magdalene and had been a novice for a year when she became critically ill. Death seemed near, so her superiors let her make her profession of vows in a private ceremony from a cot in the chapel. Immediately after, Mary Magdalene fell into an ecstasy that lasted about two hours. This was repeated after Communion on the following 40 mornings. These ecstasies were rich experiences of union with God and contained marvelous insights into divine truths. As a safeguard against deception and to preserve the revelations, her confessor asked Mary Magdalene to dictate her experiences to sister secretaries. Over the next six years, five large volumes were filled. The first three books record ecstasies from May of 1584 through Pentecost week the following year. This week was a preparation for a severe five-year trial. The fourth book records that trial and the fifth is a collection of letters concerning reform and renewal. Another book, Admonitions, is a collection of her sayings arising from her experiences in the formation of women religious. The extraordinary was ordinary for this saint. She read the thoughts of others and predicted future events. During her lifetime, Mary Magdalene appeared to several persons in distant places and cured a number of sick people. It would be easy to dwell on the ecstasies and pretend that Mary Magdalene only had spiritual highs. This is far from true. It seems that God permitted her this special closeness to prepare her for the five years of desolation that followed when she experienced spiritual dryness. She was plunged into a state of darkness in which she saw nothing but what was horrible in herself and all around her. She had violent temptations and endured great physical suffering. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi died in 1607 at age 41, and was canonized in 1669. Her liturgical feast is celebrated on May 25. Reflection Intimate union, God's gift to mystics, is a reminder to all of us of the eternal happiness of union he wishes to give us. The cause of mystical ecstasy in this life is the Holy Spirit, working through spiritual gifts. The ecstasy occurs because of the weakness of the body and its powers to withstand the divine illumination, but as the body is purified and strengthened, ecstasy no longer occurs. See Teresa of Avila's Interior Castle, and John of the Cross' Dark Night of the Soul, for more about various aspects of ecstasies.Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

The Midnight Compass: Stop treating the Dark Night like a mood disorder. You don't need another devotional; you need a map for the void. Get the bi-weekly field guide featuring exact translations and the "Reflect-Pray-Act" micro-disciplines to turn your daily silence into presence and encounter: https://midnightcarmelite.com/compassThe desire for the extirpation of personal flaws often masks a deeper corruption: spiritual pride. When the soul demands relief from its faults primarily to secure psychological tranquility, it misinterprets the teleology of purgation, substituting self-satisfaction for the absolute reality of God. St. John of the Cross demonstrates that the lower faculties crave an unblemished self-image, transforming an intrinsic spiritual good into a vehicle for selfishness. True transformation within the Dark Night requires the complete subordination of the ego, wherein even our persistent imperfections are recognized as providential instruments designed to shatter self-reliance and anchor the will in God alone. The Teleology of Purgation: How a well-intentioned desire to eradicate faults becomes corrupted when the ultimate end is self-directed peace rather than the glory of God.Motive as a Cause: An analysis of how an ordered object (virtue) is entirely ruined when married to selfishness.Providential Faults: The metaphysical necessity of persistent imperfections as a tool utilized by God to cultivate true humility and break the reliance on human praise. The Oil of the Wise Virgins: Interpreting Matthew 25 through a Carmelite lens, shifting the focus from external validation to an interior orientation directed solely toward the Divine.

In today's episode, we sit down for our final interview with Master Shi Heng Yi. This profound conversation brings his journey full circle, exploring the deep personal and spiritual transitions he has navigated over the past three years. Master Shi Heng Yi opens up about experiencing a highly challenging period of internal struggle. He discusses the difficult but necessary decision to step away from his established life at the temple in Germany to prioritise and support his family. This major life shift forced him to confront his attachments, dismantle his public identity, and deeply evaluate the philosophies that truly serve him. Throughout the episode, he reflects on the concepts of shedding old habits and stepping into a life of pure authenticity. He shares valuable insights on releasing the need for external validation, the paradox of finding true fulfilment through emptiness, and why the real essence of Shaolin lies in the mental teachings of Zen rather than just physical movement. What Is Spiritual Weariness and How Can We Find Renewal? In this episode of The Good Faith Podcast, Curtis Chang chats with Tish Harrison Warren—Anglican priest, former New York Times columnist, and author of What Grows in Weary Lands—about burnout, spiritual weariness, and the exhaustion that escapism and rest alone cannot fix. Tish explains how polarization, digital distraction, consumerism, and isolation can leave us tempted to "flame out" or "numb out." Instead, she invites listeners to "go deeper" through prayer, silence, embodied community, Sabbath, and the difficult but meaningful commitments that lead to lasting renewal. 00:36 - Introduction to World Weariness 02:43 - Tish Describes the Draining Experience of Public Faith 06:04 - What Are the Cultural Factors of Collective Burnout? 13:01 - Dysfunctional Responses: Reinvention and Escape 15:01 - Flame Out, Numb Out, or Go Deep 20:51 - Are There Practical Steps to Go Deep? 23:29 - The Practice of "Staying in Your Cell" 26:40 - The Tough Sell of Going Deeper 32:07 - The "Dark Night of the Soul" as a Growth Stage 36:11 - Learning from Historic Church Practices 38:04 - What Do Healthy Rhythms of Engagement and Withdrawal Look Like? Ep. 233 | In the last episode of the Path of Love Series with A. H. Almaas, Hameed explores the themes he introduced in the later chapters of his new book, The Inner Beloved. Hameed clarifies the role of mind on the path of heart (the mind is bedazzled and awed; the heart open), and details what happens when we reach the beloved, like “falling in love with everything” and experiencing the absolute as a “coming home” (even though there's no one there!). We learn that, on the path of love, no matter what we do or don't do, a heart-driven force beyond the mind is pulling us onward. Once we arrive, we realize the beloved has always been there—which is why our heart has been longing for the beloved all along.Hameed explains that on the path of love, nonduality becomes intimacy—reality itself is pure intimacy, he says—and in fact, the nonbeingness of the beloved is the ultimate truth of reality. In a state of mystical poverty, we discover that all we are and have ever been has been borrowed from the beloved. The culmination of this Path of Love Series ends very beautifully, the love and intimacy of the beloved pervading Hameed's words and the images he conjures for us. “The world is simply the luminosity of the beloved,” Hameed says. In listening to him, we share in some of the wonderful sense of coming home he experienced, a little of the radiant luminosity, too, and his own ongoing excitement over the ever unfolding mystery of the divine. Recorded April 9, 2026.“We can be in the lap of the beloved and still enjoy life—loving everything from that place.”Topics & Time StampsIntroducing the 4th dialogue in the Path of Love Series with A. I spent two weeks in unity consciousness once—pure oneness, no suffering, no problems. Then I woke up and watched it all slip away. My guest Aaron Abke, author of Three Beliefs of the Ego, knows exactly what that feels like. Your ego isn't your enemy; it's a mental habit of grabbing onto form. Sadness, anger, and fear aren't obstacles—they're your internal GPS pointing directly to three beliefs: lack, attachment, and control. Next Level Soul with Alex Ferrari: A Spirituality & Personal Growth Podcast
FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: On today's episode, we are joined by Kyle Cease, a spiritual comedian who masterfully weaves together the art of humor and the profound truths of the soul. Kyle has experienced a significant transformation from the world of stand-up comedy into a realm where spirituality and self-awareness reign supreme. His journey from the comedic stage to personal growth guide is nothing short of fascinating, filled with insights that push us to embrace our authentic selves.Kyle shared a profound metaphor about the "false self" many of us carry around like armor. He describes it as a protective mechanism that forms in response to childhood trauma, and as we grow, this false self becomes our identity. Yet, as Kyle points out, it's not our true nature. "Our ego builds itself around trauma, but when we allow that light to shine, the false self begins to fall away," he explained. In essence, the more we shine light on our shadows, the more our true, divine selves emerge. In this conversation, Kyle Cease helps us understand that we are in a time of tremendous spiritual awakening. The chaos and unpredictability of the world, which can often feel overwhelming, is a reflection of the collapse of these false selves on a global scale. As institutions and long-standing systems unravel, it's not the end of the world, but rather the end of the illusions we've built around us. Kyle encourages us to embrace this chaos, knowing that, “The only thing that can fall apart is a false version of you.”Throughout the episode, Kyle emphasizes that the path to spiritual awakening is about shedding our attachment to external authority and instead trusting the deeper wisdom that comes from within. He speaks of our collective detachment from systems of control—whether government, media, or even family—and how the universe is guiding us back to the present moment, the only place where true freedom exists. “The more light there is, the more of our darkness we see. But the good news is, this light is showing you what you need to let go of,” Kyle remarked during the conversation.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/next-level-soul-podcast-with-alex-ferrari--4858435/support.Take your spiritual journey to the next level with Next Level Soul TV — our dedicated streaming home for conscious storytelling and soulful transformation.Experience exclusive programs, original series, movies, tv shows, workshops, audiobooks, meditations, and a growing library of inspiring content created to elevate, heal, and awaken. In a radically fresh reading of Mary Magdalene's story, a renowned scholar of mystical traditions sheds new light on the Divine Feminine as a force for change and healing. For more than 20 years, Andrew Harvey has trained his fine scholar's eye on sacred texts and mystical truths to illuminate the message of inspired activism that they hold. Today, we need this message more urgently than ever. In this new book, Andrew takes a fresh, impassioned look at the story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus to distill its meaning for our world and show us how to embody this truth in our own lives. The Magdalene Revolution will:Examine how Mary Magdalene is presented in the New Testament—sometimes splendidly, but also absurdly and even dangerouslyExplore the truths revealed about her in texts such as the Gospel of Mary and other Gnostic gospelsPropose a radical reclamation of the divine feminine by recognizing Mary Magdalene as the Bride to Jesus's Bridegroom—a female and co-equal Christ in her own rightIlluminate a new paradigm of fully embodied divine and human love that each of us can live out in our daily lives“We are in the time of the Second Coming,” Andrew writes. “The old story is dying, and a new story with Mary Magdalene's and Jesus's love at the center is being born, because it completes and activates the full range of Christ consciousness.” In Mary Magdalene's great spirit of healing and transfiguration, this book offers us this new human story—and a path to transform not only ourselves, but our world.Andrew Harvey is a world-renowned spiritual teacher, evolutionary mystic, and sacred activist. His work is sourced from all the major mystical systems and is celebrated for its marriage of scholarly and personal fearless visionary witness. He has written 40 books, the most important of which include The Way of Passion, The Return of the Mother, The Direct Path, Sun at Midnight: A Memoir of the Dark Night, and The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism, which ignited and continues to guide a global sacred activist movement through his Institute for Sacred Activism. He has devoted a considerable part of his work to a radical reenvisioning of Christ consciousness for our time: The Son of Man: The Mystical Path to Christ, his groundbreaking translations of Hadewijch of Antwerp and Angelus Silesius, and now The Magdalene Revolution. All his work is dedicated to helping humanity, through a fusion of inner mystical passion and wisdom and urgent sacred guided action, birth a new divine humanity and a new world.www.andrewharvey.netBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.
Authentic contemplation requires the purification of the three faculties: memory, intellect, and will. By analyzing the "riverbanks" of the soul, we distinguish between mere emotional impulse and the deliberate act of the will ordered toward Christ as its final cause.Understanding why St. John of the Cross prioritizes the triad of memory, intellect, and will as the principal seats of spiritual operation and their specific disposition via the theological virtues. An analysis of "mountains" (excess) and "lowlands" (defect) as the extremes of vice that pull the soul away from its supernatural end.Why venial sins and spiritual imperfections thrive in the “riverbank” state—acts that appear level but lack the right order and certitude of faith. How the humanity of Christ serves as the objective “mean” between extremes, providing the necessary framework for interpreting reality and neighbor. The Midnight Compass: Stop treating the Dark Night like a mood disorder. In this profound episode, we dive deep into the intersection of faith and the unexplained with guest Craig Walker. As UFO Disclosure becomes a mainstream reality, many believers are left wondering how UAP sightings fit into a biblical worldview. Craig Walker shares his incredible journey from traditional religion to a radical Spiritual Awakening. After receiving a Todd Bentley Prophecy, Craig's life took a supernatural turn, leading him to encounter Interdimensional beings and navigate the complexities of the spirit world. We explore the "pendulum process" of faith—how one moves from rigid dogma to Mystical Christianity without losing their footing.Craig discusses the Dark Night of the Soul and how these intense periods of isolation often precede the greatest supernatural breakthroughs. Are these entities the Biblical Nephilim, or is there a Demonic Deception vs ET narrative that we need to be aware of? This conversation isn't just about lights in the sky; it's about the transformation of the human soul. Craig and TruthSeekah discuss the importance of discernment when dealing with Interdimensional beings and how to maintain a relationship with the Creator while exploring the "fringe."Whether you are a seasoned researcher or a Christian curious about UAP sightings, this episode provides the roadmap for balancing high-level spiritual encounters with grounded theology. Taboo to Truth: Unapologetic Conversations About Sexuality in Midlife
In this episode, I'm back with emotional intimacy expert Allana Pratt for Part 2 of a conversation that went places I never expected. We pick up where we left off — moving through self-forgiveness, the grip of self-loathing, and why judgment from others is actually an invitation to look inward. Allana shares a raw piece of her own story — six years estranged from her son, and the horrendous self-hatred she had to sit with and fully feel to finally reach wisdom. We get into soul embodiment, what it really means to be an anxious attacher, and why trauma is finite — not a life sentence. And because this is Taboo to Truth, we close it out with my three questions: her definition of sex, her best orgasm ever, and a fantasy she's never checked off the list. Are you ready to stop clinging to the old world? This is a special deep-dive into the Sedna archetype—the gatekeeper to the new world. It’s the most-replayed section from our recent transmission: “TIMELINE SHIFT — You Can't Enter the New World With an Old Contract.” Watch here The shift of 2026 isn’t just an astrological date on a calendar—it’s a shamanic rite of passage. We are entering the territory of Sedna, the emerging archetype that acts as the final gatekeeper to the New World. In this transmission, we dive deep into the “Sedna Gauntlet.” Sedna shows us exactly where we are still finding a false sense of safety in the old, crumbling patriarchal systems—what I call the “slavery contract.” Whether it's your relationship, your finances, or your sense of self, Sedna is here to poke at the places where you're still clinging to the boat, even when it's sinking. In this video, we explore: • The Sedna Myth: Why her fingers had to be cut off and what that means for your own disempowerment. • The 3 Stages of Sedna: From the “Shitty Known” to the “Dark Night of the Soul,” and finally, the rebirth into the Immortal Goddess. • The 2026 Astrology: Why Venus, Uranus, and Mars are all moving through the Sedna Gauntlet right now to wake up your high magic. • Shamanic Rebirth: How to move through the rage and betrayal of the old system to become a fertile life-bringer. WATCH THE FULL 50-MINUTE TRANSMISSION HERE: TIMELINE SHIFT — You Can't Enter the New World With an Old Contract → Watch here (Includes the deep dive into the Sedna archetype & the shamanic rite of passage for 2026) IS AWARENESS ENOUGH? Taboo to Truth: Unapologetic Conversations About Sexuality in Midlife
In this episode, I sit down with emotional intimacy expert and certified master coach Allana Pratt to expose the relationship mistakes most of us are making — quietly, repeatedly, and often without realizing it. Allana breaks down three major patterns that keep love from going deep: withholding the full truth out of fear of rejection, abandoning ourselves and our communities the moment things get hard, and mistaking cognitive awareness of anger for actually processing it. Through raw client stories, her signature "Little You" practice, and the powerful Theater of Redemption process, Allana reveals what it really takes to show up vulnerably, keep your heart open even when you're furious, and finally break the cycles that have been running your love life. This is Part 1 — and you won't want to miss what's coming next week.In this episode:00:00 - Introduction & Welcome00:45 - Meet Allana Pratt: Emotional Intimacy Expert02:45 - Relationship Mistake #1: Only Telling 85% of the Truth07:00 - The Couple Who Almost Lost It All (And the Real Problem Behind It)11:15 - Core Wounds & Why We Attract the Same Pain14:30 - Relationship Mistake #2: Quitting When It Gets Hard17:50 - The "Little You" Practice: Building an Inner Foundation21:00 - Relationship Mistake #3: Unprocessed Anger Coming Out Sideways23:15 - The Theater of Redemption Process24:40 - Subscribe & See You Next Week Want a deeper look? #413 In this podcast episode, Guy talked with Mark Gober about his drive to understand the nature of reality, his view that society is pushed toward fear and division, and his framing of this as "spiritual war." Gober recounted his conventional path (Princeton, investment banking at UBS during the 2008 crisis, then a decade in intellectual property consulting) and how witnessing corruption, followed by a 2016 "dark night of the soul," led him into research on psychedelics, meditation, alternative health, and evidence for consciousness beyond the brain (e.g., near-death experiences, UVA perceptual studies, IONS). He described writing seven books (2018–2024), launching the "Where Is My Mind" podcast, leaving a partner role to pursue this work, and later expanding into politics/economics during COVID, arguing government structure violates spiritual principles and emphasizing discernment, inner work, intention, and his ibogaine intentions. About Mark: Mark Gober is the author of the "Upside Down" series of seven books—spanning the topics of consciousness, politics, economics, UFOs, medicine, cosmology, and more. His first book, "An End to Upside Down Thinking" (2018), won the IPPY award for best science book of the year and was endorsed by researchers with affiliations at Harvard, Princeton, UVA, and UCSF (among others). He then wrote "An End to Upside Down Living" (2020), "An End to Upside Down Liberty" (2021), "An End to Upside Down Contact" (2022), "An End to the Upside Down Reset" (2023), "An End to Upside Down Medicine" (2023); and "An End to the Upside Down Cosmos" (2024). Mark is also the host of the 8-episode podcast series "Where Is My Mind?", released in 2019, which explores the scientific evidence for telepathy, the afterlife, and more. Additionally, since 2019, he has served on the board of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Previously, Mark was a partner at Sherpa Technology Group in Silicon Valley and worked as an investment banking analyst with UBS in New York. He has been named one of IAM's Strategy 300: The World's Leading Intellectual Property Strategists. Mark graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, where he wrote an award-winning thesis on Daniel Kahneman's Nobel Prize–winning "Prospect Theory" and was elected a captain of Princeton's Division I tennis team. Ep. 230 (Part 1 of 2) | The third dialogue in the Path of Love Series with A. H. Almaas opens with co-host Roger Walsh commenting that in reading Hameed's most recent book, The Inner Beloved, he is struck by how different the Diamond Approach's path of love is from those in other traditions. Hameed explains that, indeed, his path is different in that it addresses the sequence of events on the path of love systematically, using contemporary psychological language to describe the difficulties and barriers that arise, and further, that he includes not only obstacles that come up in the mind (concepts and beliefs), but emotional pain and woundings, abandonments and betrayals, which is something other traditions don't often talk about. Why are our hearts not open? Because opening to such painful emotions is scary; our fear blocks us from opening to the vastness of divine love. The secret to moving forward on the path of love, Hameed says, is to love more intensely, more deeply. Love itself is the fuel that gets us through the obstacles to union with the inner beloved.Hameed speaks of the “death wish” that happens along the path, referring to our desire to dissolve completely into the beloved. “The deep heart loves the prospect of melting away and being nothing, being annihilated, completely absorbed into the beloved,” he explains. The death wish is a common reference in other paths of love, too—the Buddha calls this annihilation of self “emptiness”—and interestingly, Freud recognized it as a universal human characteristic, calling it the nirvana principle. “A deep intuition resides in every human heart,” Hameed continues, “a need for unification with what we love.” This can be small things—chocolate ice cream, our cell phone—which are legitimate objects of love, but in the end, only the inner beloved calls. Once again, Hameed gifts us with an illuminating teaching about the path of love, our desire for nonbeing, the hidden essence of love, and the integration of all we have let go of that happens after we awaken—all coming directly from his own lived experience. Recorded January 29, 2026.“It is inherent to the human being… the movement to dissolve into bliss, into the beloved.”Topics & Time Stamps – Part 1Introducing the 3rd dialogue in the Path of Love Series with A. H. Almaas, where we continue to explore Hameed's latest book, The Inner Beloved (00:41)How Hameed's path of love differs from other traditions (02:03)One difference is Hameed addresses the sequence of events on the path of love systematically, using psychological language to describe the difficulties & barriers that arise (05:27)On this path, obstacles are not just in the mind but include woundings that occur in relationships (08:09)After union with the beloved comes integration; here is where the nondual connection between the beloved and the world comes in (09:52)The state of desirelessness (10:36)The death wish: the yearning to be completely absorbed into the beloved (11:58)Freud called this deep, universal death wish in humans the nirvana principle (13:53)Buddha called this annihilation of self “emptiness” (18:28)The secret to moving the process along is to intensify our love (20:26)A deep intuition resides in every human heart: a need for unification with what you love (22:46)There is a kind of love where the yearning and wanting is just as ecstatic as loving itself—this is the hidden essence of love (26:45)Why are some called to the path of love yet others keep grasping for more substitute gratification? (28:50)There are 4 paths of yoga but the end is the same; the 4 suits of the tarot tell the stages of each yoga path (30:27)Coming out of the divine “coma,” the whole world is ablaze with love (33:02)The descent is not a loss of the realization, it is a further integration of what we have let go of (35:10)Resources & References – Part 1A.
