Welcome to the What's Next! Podcast with Tiffani Bova.    I have the honor and pleasure of welcoming Topaz Adizes to the show today.    He is an Emmy Award-winning writer, director, and experience design architect. He is an Edmund Hillary fellow and Sundance/Skoll Stories of Change fellow. His works have been selected to Cannes, Sundance, IDFA, and SXSW; featured in New Yorker magazine, Vanity Fair, and so much else. He has garnered an Emmy for new approaches to documentary and two World Press Photo awards for immersive storytelling. But what I'm here today to talk to him about is his new book called 12 Questions for Love.    THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR…anyone looking to build stronger relationships—at work or in life—through the power of better questions.   TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE…we often focus on having the right answers, but real connection comes from asking the right questions. Topaz Adizes has spent over a decade studying human connection, guiding more than 1,200 pairs of people through transformative conversations. In this episode, he shares how the way we ask questions can strengthen workplace culture, improve team dynamics, and create more meaningful personal relationships. By shifting our approach—from looking for the “right” answer to fostering authentic dialogue—we unlock deeper understanding, trust, and collaboration.   KEY TAKEAWAYS… The best conversations start with thoughtful, well-constructed questions. Shifting from binary to open-ended questions leads to richer, more meaningful responses. A strong workplace culture starts with intentional communication and connection. Small shifts in how we structure meetings can make them more productive and engaging. Great leaders aren't just problem-solvers—they're great guides who know how to ask the right questions.   WHAT I LOVE MOST…Topaz's insight on the power of well-constructed questions. His technique to ask open-ended, connective, and intentional questions creates space for deeper conversations, whether at work or in personal relationships.   Running Time: 31:43    Subscribe on iTunes     Find Tiffani Online: LinkedIn Facebook X    Find Topaz Online: LinkedIn  Website   Topaz's Book:  12 Questions for Love: A Guide to Intimate Conversations and Deeper Relationships

How do I prepare if marriage equality gets overturned? In June 2022, we all watched in shock as the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and gutted women's rights to their bodies and reproductive healthcareMany of us in the LGBTQ+ community were even more shocked when the concurring opinion from Justice Thomas was released, where he alluded to the court's need to review and reverse protections for same-sex couples, including marriage and the rights and responsibilities that go along with it.In addition, with more and more Gen Z and younger Millenials vocalizing that they will be sitting out the 2024 election because of their disappointment with Biden on social issues, it is possible we could see even more momentum in the country to revoke the right for same-sex couples to marry. It feels as if we're at the precipice of going backward on this issue as we see countries like Nepal and Estonia legalizing marriage equality in 2023. "I'm rather obsessed with the mystics of all traditions," enthuses Mirabai Starr, as she muses on the profound relationship between silence and stillness and passionate/ecstatic mystical love. In a rich conversation that touches on the beauty of the high desert of the American Southwest, the earthy/embodied passion of the spirituality of wilderness, and the uniquely subversive wisdom of the feminine mystics, Mirabai deepens and expands our ongoing conversation on silence by inviting us into a place where the spirituality of stillness meets, and embraces, the erotic spirituality of ecstasy, joy, and love. Most of the mystics, even though they're these extravagant love poets, who are overflowing with passion, they all also are grounded in this sense of stillness. And they cultivate that stillness. — Mirabai Starr Mirabai Starr is an author, translator, retreat leader, and leader in the contemplative interspiritual community. Born into a secular Jewish family, Mirabai describes herself as a "daughter of the counter-culture," having spent part of her childhood at the Lama Foundation (an intentional spiritual community, famous as the home of Ram Dass). As an adult, she translated several of the Christian mystics, including John of the Cross, Teresa of Ávila, and Julian of Norwich, into accessible and acclaimed contemporary English. So all the mystics of all traditions, that I know and love anyway, speak to the transformational power of not knowing. I think that's intimately connected with silence. There's a higher truth that is only present, it seems, when we let all of the concepts go, and allow ourselves to know nothing. It's a vulnerable state, it's a state of spiritual nakedness, it's not for the faint of heart. — Mirabai Starr More recently she has written books that celebrate her spirituality (God of Love) and that recount her own challenging and at times heartbreaking life story (Caravan of No Despair).  A popular teacher both in person and online, Mirabai's wisdom is anchored in her own deeply embodied spirituality, drawing on the insight of all the great spiritual traditions and particular on her intuitive celebration of the Divine Feminine. The devotional impulse leads me into the presence of the Sacred, and then I am left with this kind of hush, that I drop into, and then that feeds back in again to that devotional impulse, because following those periods of deep stillness that just wash over my soul, I have that joyous urge to praise. We often make the process of life kind of complicated. Even the teachings of many personal growth and human potential teachers is complex. We have to visualize, hold specific frequencies of energy, think positive - never waiver in our striving to live an evolved life… But what if the path of living a good life is a simple process of untangling the mind and simply being present to the nature of the heart of who we truly are. If Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad, and the Divine Mother were to meet in conversation, what would each think of the other's spiritual points of views? In Maresha Donna Ducharmes book, The Way Home to Love: A Guide to Peace in Turbulent Times, she distills down primary teachings from many ancient and modern religions into a simple manifesto outlining how we can return to the heart of our true essence. In this episode of Quantum Conversations, Maresha shares with us how the heart essence - that core inner place of alignment with the true nature of the universe - holds the key to changing the world and stabilizing your own experience as we go through this incredible planetary cycle of transformation and growth.
