"You can do whatever you want." In this engaging interview, Lij Shaw sits down with Jason Livermore, co-owner of the Blasting Room studio, to explore Jason's transformative journey from aspiring musician to Grammy-winning producer. They discuss the studio's evolution, the significance of high-quality equipment, and the invaluable experience gained from working with interns. Jason delves into the intricacies of modern mixing techniques, the transition to digital, and the essentials of drum recording and mixing, highlighting the impact of acoustics, MIDI, and automation. Their conversation also covers the joys of learning new instruments and offers practical advice for aspiring engineers looking to thrive in the competitive world of music production. Get access to FREE mixing mini-course: https://MixMasterBundle.com My guest today is Jason Livermore who got his first snare drum at just three years old and eventually picked up guitar and bass but found his way back to drums, which he loved most. In junior high, he discovered punk rock, with Milo Goes to College as his first vinyl purchase. Jason played in bands throughout high school and college, even recording some of them himself. After college, he realized that recording would be a better path than selling beer for Miller. When ALL opened the Blasting Room in Fort Collins in 1994, Jason jumped at the opportunity and has been a key part of the studio ever since. In 2015, he became co-owner alongside Bill Stevenson, working on about 95% of the albums from the studio, including producing the Latin GRAMMY-winning record Solo D'Lira in 2023. Jason has also played drums for bands like Wretch Like Me, Drag the River, Bill The Welder, Soul City Missionaries, and The Virginia Sisters. Special thanks to Brian Murphree for the introduction! Send us a textWelcome to our review/preview of CU's rivalry games. I am joined for this episode by Brad Geiger and Neil Langland, and we will be giving you our “T.I.P.S.” for CU's Rocky Mountain Showdown game against Colorado State. Before we do so, though, we will be breaking down what was “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” about CU's 28-10 loss to Nebraska. Then ... on to the Rams. For those new to the podcast, or in need of a refresher, our “T.I.P.S.” previews are broken down into categories:T- Talent - What CU's opponents are bringing to the game; which matchups may prove crucial; I - Intangibles - What off the field issues may impact the outcome; P - Preparation/Schedule - How the calendar, injuries, or even the weather may play a role; andS - Statistics - What numbers should Buff fans be on the lookout for in determining the outcome. After going through our preview, we will each give you our prediction for the game. So ... Did the Buffs learn their lesson in the beatdown by Nebraska, or was the loss a preview of how the rest of the 2024 season will play out? ... Can the Buffs overcome another hostile road crowd, or will another slow start bring more frustration and consternation to the Buff Nation? ... Can CU ride off into the sunset of the series with a seven-game winning streak, or will CSU beat the Buffs in Ft. Collins for the first time since 1955? Let's find out ... Support the show

Jamie is a sought after drummer. He's recorded several projects and toured with Shooter Jennings, Duff McKagan, Samantha Fish, Jesse Dayton, and many more. I first became aware of Jamie when I stumbled into a club in Ft Collins, CO on the recommendation that Samantha Fish was a ripper. The whole band was destroying!  I felt like a newborn baby with the idea that I had never heard of her before. If you haven't yet, make yourself aware of this artist and the personnel that supports her.I reached out to Jamie and he graciously carved out some time to sit and chat while the band was in Asheville on their US tour this past Fall. Unfortunately, the rock show was cancelled due to malfunctioning systems at the venue.  Hopefully, they'll come back soon. When Jamie isn't touring or recording he enthusiastically teaches math to high schoolers. Their move was sparked by Covid and the desire to be closer to family, live the outdoor lifestyle Denver has to offer and raise their kids in this amazing community. Her husband kept his job and works remotely while traveling back to Houston a week out of the month.     After having a successful branding and headshot photography business in Houston when she moved to Denver, she had to start again, from square one.  Building up new clientele from scratch has been a challenging and rewarding experience at the same time.  She is meeting tons of new people in the neighborhoods' amazing networking and mom's groups as well as the  Central Park Business Association (CPA).    She loves meeting neighbors, learning their stories and sharing them trough personal branding photography.  She strives to be s go-to headshot &  branding photographer for not only Central Park, but all of Denver.   www.kgothamphotography.com

How To Elevate & Imbibe Your Appetites | Functional Friday

We as humans are driven by our appetites. Yet much of the health and wellness culture is around curbing and suppressing our appetites, and for the most part, it's just a recipe for failure. Today my cohost Randy James, Medical Doctor and Functional Medicine expert discuss our personal belief. And it is that we will seldom succeed in squelching our appetites, and we…don't. I love feeding my appetites and one of the things that adds joy to my life is great food and drink. Our goal is to strive to upgrade and elevate our appetites. This is my Functional Friday episode where we focus on our health and wellness so we have the physical and mental capacity to help ourselves and others. Regarding appetites, our goal is to try to evolve and grow our appetites to crave more life giving food and less life taking foods. As a pro cyclist my evenings often consisted of walking down to the 7 Eleven in Ft Collins to get a pint of Ben & Jerry's, and a 4-pack of Reese's Cups for the walk home. I still have that appetite, but today I fill it with some dark chocolate and sea salt covered almonds and a glass of red wine. Would I be better to not snack after dinner at all? Probably. But I'm just not going to. I love feeding my appetites. I'd also like a big bowl of popped corn, but my body doesn't like corn and eating it disrupts my sleep. So I do some salty nuts or some bean or cauliflower chips to get my salt fix. You get the idea. How can you imbibe your appetites and still have the health and wellness you desire. The Self-Help(ful) podcast is brought to you by Ziglar, your premier source for equipping coaches to help leaders and top performers excel professionally and personally. Communication Coach, Cindy Skalicky says, “Introverted public speakers are needed and hard to come by. I want to reach people who have an interest in presenting more but who are unsure how to go about this because it makes them nervous. It does not have to be about getting onto a stage, but often early-stage entrepreneurs and business owners don't even want to share a lot about why they are great at what they do because they feel pushy. I want to help them see the value in preparing messaging for those 'elevator pitch' or 'sales pitch' moments so they can stand in their shoes with confidence and attract more clients.” Cindy is an expert in rhetorical theory - or the science of persuasion. Her passion lies in taking a message in and teasing it apart to determine its overall effectiveness and persuasiveness. She helps clients understand the power of persuasion by teaching Aristotle's hidden gem of genius, the rhetorical triangle. Cindy is originally from Chicago; she has been a die-hard Cubs fan since her youth and is raising 4 children ranging in age from 12-18. She has coerced her only son to love 80s music almost as much as she does. She and her husband will celebrate 19 years of marriage this year, and they have lived in Ft Collins since 2007. Cindy is the Founder, Owner, and Head Coach of On Point Communications and she's coached individuals and groups at all levels of business. Jesse shares the challenges and unique pilots that have worked locally, and his work with other communities globally. Guest: Jesse Elliott, Director, The Music District Jesse Elliott, Director of the Music District, is a lifelong champion of collaborative creative efforts, social entrepreneurship, and the power of music and storytelling. He is the founder and songwriter of two rock and roll bands, These United States and Ark Life, who have released 6 albums and performed live 1,200 times in the last decade, from SXSW and Glastonbury to Lollapalooza and your favorite local dive. Before music recaptured his heart, Elliott wrote books and speeches with economist Richard Florida, co-founded a community nonprofit at the University of Iowa, helped shoot a documentary on water rights in southern Mexico and Guatemala, and ran an Italian deli on the Jersey Shore. With his company Range Music Ecosystems, Elliott and his co-founder Dr. Bryce Merrill researched and wrote the music strategies for the City of Denver and the State of Colorado, and brought together international thinkers on music and community for the City of Austin, the Biennial of the Americas, and more. Photo: Ty Hyten The Music District brings together the art, business, technology, and community of one of humanity’s longest-standing sources of inspiration, communication, and collaboration. Equal parts creative laboratory, industry incubator, and town hall, the 57,000 square foot campus serves as a bridge between city and university, mountains and plains, in the free-wheeling innovation cauldron of Fort Collins, Colorado. Touring artists, scrappy start-ups, experienced technicians, global scholars, forward-thinking investors, and the hungriest music fans in the country will all find a home at the Music District. Drunken Lullabies: Drunk At The Movies

The Voice and Beermansky are reunited this week and joined by new guests Nearly Silent Nick and Brewmaster Brian. We drink homebrews from Brian's Bust'd Brewing Co, and enjoy some Road Trip beers that Dustin & Blake have accumulated thanks to awesome friends. We proclaim ourselves your Sunday Saviors, talk homebrewing with Brian, discuss beer snobbery, judge Dustin's beer glass collection, share some insane news regarding the podcast, and have a huge sense of deja vu for the entire episode. Our featured Band of the Week is Arliss Nancy from Ft Collins, CO and they supply the soundtrack to our drinking with a couple tunes. Breweries featured on this episode include Bust'd Brewing Co, Bent River Brewing, Odell Brewing, & FiftyFifty Brewing.

We have a great show for you today we have Colorado's own Brittany Devens. She's a independent Singer/Guitarist from Ft Collins. She calls in from Arizona to talk about her upcoming shows in AZ, where she got her in spermatozoa from. She explains the art of doing cover songs where you can find her and we feature her song "Meet me there" at the end of the show. We also have our host Qrib'Obaby as he talks to us about being in Dallas for the Fourth of July, Rudy's Chicken House, and the I Am Series. All in all it was another Turnt Up Day tune in tomorrow for Hump Day
