Financial Fitness With The Money Doctor with Frances Rahaim, Ph.D. "The Money Doctor" Financial Literacy for College Students | Joe Pack on Tickup PickSix Investing Challenge: Joe Pack, TickUp offers $50,000 Grand Prize! Today on Financial Fitness, we're talking with Joe Pack, founder of Tickup and creator of the PickSix stock-picking competition — an exciting, free investing challenge open to all U.S. college students. With a $50,000 grand prize on the line, it's not just a game — it's a gateway to real-world financial learning. Joe shares how his journey from a small town in Washington to a career on Wall Street inspired him to build tools that make investing more accessible and data-driven — especially for young adults who didn't grow up with financial guidance. Win $50,000 in a stock picking competition? The Money Doctor's guest, Joe Pak, CEO of TickUp, tells how you can download the app, compete for free and because it's virtual, you don't even have to use real money to buy the stocks you choose! College students (and soon everyone) can compete in this PickSix competition.

In-gi Shin is the director of Friends of Kim Young-su Library, a nonprofit organization based in Jeju's old town. The group manages a shared library located within Jeju Buk Elementary School, where the school and the community work together to nurture children. Shin leads various programs, including “Book Bundle” storytelling classes, summer care initiatives, and Jeju language education—turning the library into a vibrant learning space. For her, the library is more than a place for books; it's a community hub where people connect and children grow. In 2020, this unique approach earned national recognition with the Grand Prize at the Korea Public Architecture Awards. Shin hopes this model of resident-run libraries will expand to more villages. Each day, she keeps the lights on at the library, believing it can be a lifelong companion for children and a cornerstone for community life.

In EPISODE 202 OF GROWING OLDER LIVING YOUNGER  host Gillian Lockitch, and Jeff Golden discuss the complex relationship between happiness, health, and longevity, emphasizing that materialism does not enhance well-being. Despite economic growth, happiness levels have declined since the 1940s. Two years ago, in episode 136 I first spoke with Jeff Golden, author of Reclaiming the Sacred: Healing Our Relationships with Ourselves and the World, which won the Grand Prize at the Nautilus Book Awards. Since then, the world has continued to change in ways that affect our emotional, social, and even physical health. Today, Jeff joins me again to reflect on what has shifted in the past two years—both in the world and in his own perspective—and to share new insights on how we can cultivate happiness, connection, and purpose as we age.Golden highlights the importance of inner factors like self-worth and relationships over material possessions. He advocates for personal development, meditation, and gratitude practices to cultivate fulfillment. I share my experience with a personal development program that helps recognize and overcome negative self-judgments. Both of us stress the need for self-nourishment and the ripple effects of personal happiness on societal well-being. Campus podcast: Why we need interdisciplinarity in teaching and research

Complex problems cannot be solved if examined only through a narrow lens. Enter interdisciplinarity. It is now widely accepted that drawing on varied expertise and perspectives is the only way we can understand and tackle many of the most challenging issues we face, as individuals and as a species. So, there is a growing movement towards more cross disciplinary working in higher education but it faces challenges. Interdisciplinarity requires a shift of mindset in an academy built upon clear disciplinary distinctions and must compete for space in already overcrowded curricula. We speak to two leadings scholars in interdisciplinary research and teaching to find out why it is so important and how they are encouraging more academics and students to break out of traditional academic silos. Gabriele Bammer is a professor of integration and implementation sciences (i2S) at the Australian National University. She is author of several books including ‘Disciplining Interdisciplinarity' and is inaugural president of the Global Alliance for Inter- and Transdisciplinarity. To support progress in interdisciplinarity around the world, she runs the Integration and Implementation Insights blog and repository of theory, methods and tools underpinning i2S. Gabriele has held visiting appointments at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center at the University of Maryland and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam, Germany. Kate Crawford is an international scholar of the social implications of artificial intelligence who has advised policymakers in the United Nations, the White House, and the European Parliament on AI, and currently leads the Knowing Machines Project, an international research collaboration that investigates the foundations of machine learning. She is a research professor at USC Annenberg in Los Angeles, a senior principal researcher at MSR in New York, an honorary professor at the University of Sydney, and the inaugural visiting chair for AI and Justice at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Her award-winning book, Atlas of AI, reveals the extractive nature of this technology while her creative collaborations such as Anatomy of an AI System with Vladan Joler and Excavating AI with Trevor Paglen explore the complex processes behind each human-AI interaction, showing the material and human costs. Her latest exhibition, Calculating Empires: A Genealogy of Technology and Power 1500-2025, opened in Milan, November 2023 and won the Grand Prize of the European Commission for art and technology.
