L is for Ligtnin' (and) Licks. Ladies Love Loud Losers, listen...In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For the past six decades, artists the world over in every artistic medium have used Eno's strategy while attempting to overcome a lull in creative output. In 2025, lazy, lackluster yet somehow still award-winning* hobby podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential theme of their upcoming forty-third episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they have a reasonably solid grasp of the alphabet and how it works. They had previously utilized the letters A thru K, so naturally, they went with L.Sonic contributors featured in Lightnin' Licks Radio's forty-third episode include: Beastie Boys, National Public Radio, James Todd Smith, Ol' Burger Beats, Prince Paul, De La Soul, Gravediggaz, Method Man, John Ussery. Brothers Johnson, G.I. Joe's Rescue From Adventure Team Headquarters, Ninth Wonder, Earth, Wind, and Fire. Jay Dilla, Black Milk, Ronnie Laws, Inner Circle, Donny Trump, Childish Gambino, Marly Marl, Mary Jane Girls, Bert and Ernie, Greg Nice, Miss Lauren Hill, Cyprus Hill, The Light Men Plus One, Bubbha Thomas, Ornette Coleman. Tim Reid as Venus Flytrap, Kenny Loggins, L.A. Witch, Living Colour, Malcolm X, Arlo Guthrie, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Public Enemy, Le Bucherettes. At the Drive-in, Terry Genderbender, Bosnian Rainbows. Land of Talk, Canada, Tim Robinson, US Representative Tom Emmer, The Lovely Bad Things, Linn County, The Mighty Loop, Fur and Skin Trading Company. The Pool, Public Image Limited, Morphine, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Hindu Love Gods, Adrian Youngue, La Luz, The Lime Spiders, Hoodoo Gurus, and, the Clockers (theme song). Our favorite selections from the L section in our collections mixtape: (1A) Lime Spiders - Ignormy (2A) Lightmen Plus One - Ashie (3A) L.A. Witch - Sexorexia (4A) Land of Talk - Yuppy Flu (5A) Loop - Head on (1B) Living Colour - Open Letter to a Landlord (2B) Le Bucherettes - Demon Stuck in Your Eye (3B) Linn County - Fever Shot (4B) Lovely Bad Things - Slug Boy (5B) La Luz - In the CountryShop locally for your music. We attend church at Electric Kitsch. We drink Blue Chair Bay flavored rums (without endorsement or appreciation from Kenny Chesney.) We are pro-Canada, but not anti-American. It's very messed up we even feel the need to type that last sentence.

Patreon.com/thequestionshiphop questionshiphop.com youtube.com/thequestionshiphop Originally broadcast on May 24, 2021. Simply put, Tre Hardson aka Slimkid3 is a legend. Hip hop was forever changed in 1992 when his group the Pharcyde emerged onto the scene with their classic debut album 'Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.' The group brought a decidedly animated and imaginative element to their songwriting and presence on the microphone – and Tre definitely stood out with his distinct melodic voice; you could really even say that a lot of these rappers who sing owe a bit to Slimkid3. The Pharcyde's second album Labcabincalifornia sported a darker sound (and early contributions from the great Jay Dee aka Jay Dilla) that reflected the frustration the group was going through with both the industry – and internally. Tre did one last album with the group (2000's Plain Rap) before embarking on a solo career that also has seen him team up with DJ Nu-Mark from Jurassic 5, Ozomatli, and occasional reunions with various members of his Pharcyde brethren – and today they are back at it (as a trio), touring the world and possibly poised to release new music soon. In this Can't Knock the Shuffle classic, we break down stories behind the following songs: "Groupie Therapy" (Pharcyde 'Labcabincalifornia', 1995) "Trust" (Pharcyde 'Plain Rap', 2000) "King" feat Diamond D and K-Natural ('Slimkid3 & Nu-Mark', 2016) "Life is Love" ('Liberation', 2002) "Pick It Up" feat Dillon Cooper (TRDMRK, 2019) "4 Better or 4 Worse" (Pharcyde 'Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde', 1992) The Questions Hip-Hop: Instagram Sean Kantrowitz: Instagram Slimkid3: Instagram

Super-special-secret friend Matt Heller (a.k.a. DJ Snakes) joins Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon for an in-depth discussion about what he's been listening to. In true DJ form, Snakes brings four rare/abstract vinyl singles to Electric Kitsch for a conversation about the DIY punk scene of his adolescence, the intersection of skateboarding and hip-hop, dusty independent soul holy grail 45s, proto-drumless rap from Wu's G.O.A.T. Episode 468."A Tribe Called Quest"Ali Shaheed Muhammad.DJ/Producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad is a hip-hop icon. As one-third of legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, his influence and impact on the musical landscape is still felt today. In April of 2024, "A Tribe Called Quest" was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The soft-spoken and contemplative Brooklyn native began a life of music at an early age, spending years DJing parties in his Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood before co-founding Tribe in 1985. The group's socially conscious lyrics and unique production style is as innovative today as it was two decades ago.Muhammad carried that classic sound into the production unit The Ummah with Jay Dilla and Q-Tip, and continued working with artists including Faith Evans, Mos Def, and D'Angelo. In 1999, he co-founded the Grammy nominated all-star trio Lucy Pearl with Dawn Robinson, formerly of En Vogue, and Raphael Saadiq, of Tony! Toni! Toné!After Lucy Pearl, Muhammad focused his attention on his production company and developing new talent. In 2004, he released the very personal and adventurous solo debut LP Shaheedulah and Stereotypes, featuring some of his new proteges. Working on material for a follow-up, Muhammad set up a studio with Martin “Doc” McKinney of Esthero and Weeknd fame, and continued writing and collaborating with other artists as well.In 2017, Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) formed the band, The Midnight Hour. In addition to musical releases and touring, they've teamed to score a myriad of television and film projects: Marvel's Luke Cage (Netflix), Raising Kanan (Starz), The Equalizer (CBS), Reasonable Doubt (Hulu), Run This Town (2019), Washington Black (2023), Boogie (2021), and Bitchin', The Sound and Fury of Rick James (2021).In 2019, Younge, Muhammad, Andrew Lojero and Adam Block created Jazz Is Dead (JID): a multimedia company specializing in the production of live concerts, studio albums, television and film. JID concerts have earned an ever-growing fanbase through national and international tours. Under the label, Younge and Muhammad have produced albums with their musical heroes including luminaires such as Roy Ayers, Lonnie Liston Smith, Gary Bartz, Jean Carne, João Donato and Marcos Valle.https://linktr.ee/mondaymorningcritic#atribecalledquest #rap #hiphop #rockandrollhalloffame #qtip #podcast #fyp #shorts #theroots #kanyewest #dj

Scoop, Roddy, & Mikey McFly debated a variety of topics including Eminem's surprise album, "Music To Be Murdered By". That discussion got deep because it ventured into the territory of debating Em's status in the rap game in general. It got kinda heated. Also discussed, was Netflix show, Hip Hop Evolution, which just returned for a fourth season, A$AP Rocky and his admission the he thanked Donald Trump for assisting in his release from a Swedish prison, and more. The late, great Jay Dilla was championed in the weekly "Honoring" segment. This was definitely one of the most informative episodes of the series. J Wise. Originally from Brooklyn,NY J Wise moved to Orlando, Fl at a young age. Out of all the artists you will hear throughout the year, it’s this man’s lyrical vibes that will have you hooked. This man is bound to draw attention. Although his commanding vocal presence demands immediate attention, listeners quickly learn that J Wise’s tough exterior is balanced with intelligence and an old soul. Originally hailing from Brooklyn, NY, J Wise was still a young child when tragedy struck his family, and he was forced to learn that the world is not always a pretty and kind place. After his older brother was shot in the head in the streets of Brooklyn, J’s parents relocated the family to Florida to get away from the criminal influence. “My parents didn’t want us growing up around that. We basically just moved from one ghetto to another.” Motivated by life experiences such as these and the desire to always gain knowledge, J Wise approaches his work in the studio with making a timeless soundtrack in mind. With musical influences ranging from Mozart, Nirvana, Sade, Two Steps from Hell to Jay Dilla, Biggie and Pac, it’s safe to say that J Wise has a musical understanding well beyond his years. While some may be quick to call this appreciation “wisdom”, according to J Wise true foresight comes from the lack of assumption: “The more you think you know, the more you know that you know nothing. There’s more behind it, but I’d rather let the people figure it out by listening to the music. STREAM or DOWNLOAD On this episode of CWR Mista Montana and Menace venture south with: Fresh off the release of his recently released Intermission mixtape, Freeway joins us during an intermission to discuss his forthcoming Roc-A-Fella Records documentary, the revelation of a new State Property album and projects with  Brother Ali and The Jacka in a self-assured and colourful interview with one of Hip Hop's brightest lights. We also discuss future collaborations with rising Philly heavyweight Jakk Frost, his hopes of working with Kanye West again and much more! Rapper Big Pooh has every reason to be proud. His new album Dirty Pretty Things and self-owned record label are causing a buzz rarely seen outside wasp nests, so it was a true honour to talk with the man himself. Expect the unexpected as Pooh breaks down the creation of his new opus, 9th Wonder, Phonte, his forthcoming colabs and his future work.     More than ever before, Consequence is on demand. With a new project entitled Curb Certified on the horizon and a new-found passion in growing his own business with his label Bandcamp Records, Cons is on his own spaceship right now. In this interview the ever optimistic and ambitious Consequence talks the creation of Curb Certified and its recent leaks, plans of working with DJ Premier, Jay Dilla, hardships of his past, Don't Quit Your Day Job and it's relevance with today’s political climate plus more. Statik Selektah joins us in busy form to discuss his new production for Eminem, to be featured on Eminem's forthcoming collaborative effort with Obie Trice. Forever working, Statik tells of his plans to make an album in a day with Bun B, as well as his reaction of some people to his latest compilation Population Control. We take time to discuss Nas' new album, a project that Statik has a firm hand in, as well as his hopes to work on future Slaughterhouse material. A rapid update. Blacastan is a master and builder, crafting some of Hip Hop' strongest architecture, so it was a pleasure to build with the workhorse about his new project; Master Builder 2, which is scheduled for release early 2012.  We also talk his recent accomplishments such as his recent induction into the Demigodz, landing a spot on Violence Begets Violence, forthcoming collaborations wth AOTP and Celph Titled, performing, his grass roots grind and more before being joined by Jus Allah and Virtuoso for an update on their new projects and a fatal three way acapella. Essential listening! The People Under The Stairs are back, joining us in the form of one half of the group's Thes-One to hold a detailed discussion on their fantastic album Highlighter. Rated as one of the most consistently innovative groups to emerge from L.A., Thes-One talks us through the creation of Highlighter and identifies the reasons behind choosing to record it at multiple hand-picked studios in Los Angeles. In addition to the aesthetics of this, we also talk sampling, artwork, longevity, touring and more in an definitive highlight interview. Eligh and Amplive step into the studio for a candid therapy session and discussion regarding their forthcoming release Therapy At 3. We discuss the origins of the album and the aesthetics of its creation, Eligh's writing process, the therapy of touring versus the therapy of recording, being therapists of each others work together in the process of communication, creative approaches and more. In addition, we talk the future of both Eligh and Amp-Live, which will include a tour in support of Therapy At 3, a potential collaborative project between Grouch, Eligh and Zion-I and a new Livin' Legends album next year! Hasan Salaam nobly enters the show filled with anticipation for his forthcoming release Music Is My Weapon, available Dec 6th. We discuss the importance of this new project, with all of the proceeds being actively used to fund the building of a school, clean water well, and medical clinic in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. YOU must support this justified cause HERE and watch Hasan's excellent new music video for the single 1911 HERE In addition to a frank discussion regarding these efforts to provide change to a country that remains one of the poorest and least politically stable in the world, we find time to discuss the new range of producers Hasan is working with including The Snowgoons and CWR's long-time affiliate Cross Bone T J-Zone dramatically leaps onto the show live from a car journey to discuss his brand new book Root For The Villain, available to purchase HERE .Far from a comfortable, cozy documentation of a glamorous Rap Life, this piece of brutally frank and at times, painfully truthful literature is an essential read. We take time to discuss the creation of the book, J-Zone's musings regarding future musical output, Heavy D's sad passing and a mutual celebration of Too Much Trouble's mass murdering midget, Bar-None. As live as it gets. Ho.   AND THAT'S NOT ALL! BONUS PODCAST-ONLY FOOTAGE An accomplished Moka Only swings through the studio just hours before his debut show in London, offering a detailed exploration behind the making of his latest set Crickets, as well as revealing new forthcoming music with Madchild. Will we hear another Swollen Members project with Moka Only? Listen now to find out!   Enjoy our lot! Contact us at conspiracyworldwide@gmail.com BBM: 22129BE3
