pWotD Episode 2934: Andor (TV series) Welcome to Popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 214,198 views on Wednesday, 14 May 2025 our article of the day is Andor (TV series).Andor, also known as Star Wars: Andor and Andor: A Star Wars Story for its second season, is an American science fiction political spy thriller television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and a prequel to the film Rogue One (2016), which itself is a prequel to the original Star Wars film (1977). The series follows thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years that lead to the events of the two films, exploring how he becomes radicalized against the Galactic Empire and how the wider Rebel Alliance is formed.Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One and serves as an executive producer. The series also stars Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Genevieve O'Reilly, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Ben Mendelsohn, Benjamin Bratt, and Alan Tudyk. Lucasfilm announced a series focused on Andor in November 2018, with Luna attached and Stephen Schiff hired as showrunner. Schiff was replaced by Rogue One co-writer Gilroy as creator and showrunner in April 2020. Filming took place at Pinewood Studios in London and on location around the United Kingdom, with Neal Scanlan returning from Rogue One to provide practical effects. The first season, which tells a year of Andor's story when he first becomes a revolutionary, was filmed from November 2020 to September 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The second season covers the next four years leading up to Rogue One, and was filmed from November 2022 to February 2024 with breaks and delays due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes. Nicholas Britell composed the series' original score for the first season, while Brandon Roberts composed for the second season. Andor premiered on September 21, 2022, with the first three episodes of the first season. The other nine episodes of the season were released weekly through November 23. The second and final season premiered on April 22, 2025, with three episodes releasing weekly until May 13. The series has received widespread critical acclaim for its writing, performances, cinematography, production values, themes, and its darker, more mature and grounded tone compared to other Star Wars properties. The first season was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:52 UTC on Thursday, 15 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Andor (TV series) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm long-form Danielle.

Frank and Thomas take on the powerful ending of Andor Season 2, reflecting on its emotional resonance, brilliant writing, and how it elevates Cassian's story to legendary status. They dissect key character arcs like Luthen's sacrificial role, Dedra's collapse within the Empire, and Kleya's haunting rise. From hallway fights to rebel politics, this finale proves Andor is one of the boldest Star Wars stories ever told. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Intro and reflections on the journey 01:30 Final three episodes overview 03:10 Luthen's arc and thematic payoff 07:00 Dedra's tragic fate and Empire hierarchy 13:30 Kleya's cold resolve and emotional closure 17:00 Cassian's mission, K-2SO's brutal debut 26:00 Rebel council confrontation and Mon Mothma's silence 30:00 Toast to the fallen rebels 38:00 Cassian's legacy lives on 41:00 Final thoughts, theories, and rankings Key Takeaways: Andor ends with a grounded, emotional finale that sets up Rogue One seamlessly. Luthen, Kleya, and Dedra each represent unique costs of rebellion and empire. Cassian's unwavering heart and actions make him a modern Star Wars icon. K-2SO's entrance redefines droid combat in the best way. The finale captures the shift from guerilla rebellion to organized resistance. Quotes: “Luthen is that dagger—ornate on the outside, forged for the fight.” “You die a rebel and become legend, or serve the Empire and get forgotten.” “The rebellion remembers their heroes around a drink, not in the history books.” “Cassian did more than anyone at that table and asked for nothing in return.” “This show is Star Wars without the myth—just people making impossible choices.” Call to Action: Enjoy the finale as much as we did? In mid-April, CyberPink was invited to Tokyo Japan, to attend Star Wars Celebration! It was our first time at this iconic gathering of all fans across galaxies, but Star Wars Celebration has been around since the late 1990s. It's a testament to the multi-generational and organic nature of being a Star Wars fan, but also goes to show the commercial prowess of Disney (which acquired LucasFilm in 2012). This year's celebration in Japan was the largest in recent years and paid tribute to Japanese history and culture in many subtle ways. Your favorite gals got to join the press line and interview your favorite stars, but that's not all! In this episode, the gals who went spill the tea with the other gals on what exactly went down at Star Wars Celebration 2025. We talk about the evolving diversity of the Star Wars fanbase (and movies), the unique vibe and programming at the event, major announcements (New movies! New shows! Ryan Gosling!), what it was like interviewing the creators and stars of The Mandalorian and Andor, how the Star Wars IP merges with Japanese culture, and more… Additionally, many of the face-to-face interview videos with celebrities mentioned in this episode have been posted on our Xiaohongshu account with the same name. For those CinemaScore fans, the movie is sitting at an A-. SPOILER ALERT: The studio also flipped the title of the movie based on the events that occur within it and the film is now being marketed as The New Avengers - the big reveal of what the asterisk stood for. Marvel Comics even joined in with this gag, revealing today that a previously announced new series called New Thunderbolts* is actually going to be called The New Avengers.- Jeremy Renner was interviewed by podcast High Performance about his new memoir “My Next Breath,” and revealed Marvel offered him a role in a second season of Hawkeye, but only offered half the salary he received in season one.- The Hollywood Reporter has received information from sources saying that Ryan Reynolds is in the early stages of developing a new Deadpool movie that would feature X-Men characters with Deadpool potentially in a supporting role.- Lastly, Fantastic Four: First Steps Director Matt Shakman revealed that voice actor Matthew Wood is doing the voice work for the role of HERBIE in the film. Wood is known for voicing General Grievous and has worked in sound for Lucasfilm and Disney for many years.Perhaps the biggest story to hit Hollywood since the writers/actors strikes a few years ago, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform on Monday that he aims to start including Hollywood in his tariff plan. In his comments, Trump announced he wants to institute a 100% tariff on movies coming into the United States and that are produced in foreign countries. It is unclear how this would be implemented at this time as films are not goods. However, many films take advantage of tax incentives offered by states and countries to film in their locations and these could be affected. In an already turbulent time for Hollywood, what could this mean for the future?FX has officially confirmed an upcoming season two of its Emmy-award winning series Shogun. The series co-creators and showrunners Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks recently wrapped a writers room for the coming season which will begin production in January of 2026.Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct Road House 2, the sequel to Amazon MGM Studios' hit action movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Will Beall, whose credits range from comic book movies such as Aquaman to action movies including Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is writing the script.Sgt. Rock, DC Studios' action war movie that was to shoot this summer, will no longer move forward at the current schedule due to location shooting issues. The film, set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino and star Colin Farrell, apparently needs to be shot during the summer and not the winter, which held up production. Insiders tell the Hollywood Reporter that the project is not necessarily going away however, and would be reassessed at the end of the year for a possible summer shoot in 2026.Chris Hemsworth has been cast to star in Subversion, a submarine thriller that Patrick Vollrath will direct for Amazon MGM.Star Wars: The Last Order, is a newly-announced novel, written by Kwame Mbalia and will look at Finn and Jannah's mission to save more children from the First Order. The novel will be released this year on October 21.AppleTV+ has renewed Seth Rogan-led series The Studio for a second season ahead of its May 21 season one finale.Practical Magic 2, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, will release in theaters on September 18, 2026.In box office news, Sinners crossed $240 million worldwide while A Minecraft Movie continues to creep to a billion dollars with an $875 million worldwide total.

Andor's second season BBY 2 story arc is the best "movie" of the three arcs so far. No controversies, unless you think gently altering the way episodes of animated TV and a one-shot comic told the Star Wars story is something about which to get upset. It's always better to see the live action events unfold, at least according to This is the Way Podcast.Today's episode includes first impressions of the stories told in episodes 7, 8, and 9 and the closer we get to Rogue One and A New Hope, the more at stake. It's not a surprise that Cassian Andor is getting out of this show alive. He has a date with destiny on Scariff. This podcast may appear here on YouTube, but it's an audio form for a YouTube audience. I know others provide video clips of the show, but "the Mouse" and Lucasfilm are very proactive in the way they copyright strike and we don't have the time to work by trial and error until we hit on the right formula. The full recap and discussion episodes will come later. Life events have their way of altering schedules, but even with so much going on last week, the episodes were finished before new Andor started streaming on Tuesday night. The hope, dear listeners, is that we can continue to make that happen. If you have an episode specific comment, email it to the address we reveal in our podcasts, but you can interact with This is the Way Podcast via 'X' and Instagram @ThisistheWayPod or on Facebook, Youtube, and also on Spotify! Meanwhile, Mon Mothma walks a dangerous political tightrope, and Saw Gerrera's tragic origin story adds emotional weight to his radicalism. The Geeks also unpacks the brutal, emotionally charged moment when Bix takes justice into her own hands, the devastating loss of a key rebel, and the tense power dynamics brewing between Dedra, Syril, and the always-imperious Eedy. These episodes dig deep into the cost of rebellion — physically, psychologically, and morally — and we're here to break it all down.***The views expressed in this show are those of the hosts and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the United States Air Force, the Department of Defense, or the U.S. Government.***

Happy Star Wars Day! To celebrate, hosts Eddie and Intern Manager Amy are diving deep into the emotionally charged and pivotal conclusion of the prequel trilogy: "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith," which fittingly turns 20 this month! Join the duo as they explore how this often-dark chapter dramatically shaped the Star Wars saga and arguably ushered in a new generation of fans. As longtime enthusiasts, Eddie and Amy will reflect on how their perspectives on the film have evolved since its initial release two decades ago, contrasting their first impressions with more recent viewings informed by their own life experiences. They'll also delve into the profound impact of Dave Filoni's animated storytelling – from The Clone Wars through its many follow-ups – and how the expanded lore and character development he's introduced have enriched their understanding and appreciation of "Revenge of the Sith" and the fall of Anakin Skywalker. From the tragic arc of the Chosen One to the birth of the Rebellion, join Eddie and Amy for a thoughtful and nostalgic Star Wars Day discussion that bridges the gap between initial reactions and the deeper understanding forged by years of fandom and Filoni's masterful contributions. May the 4th be with you!
