James Gunn's Superman held its premiere in London July, 2, where the director confidently told The Times of London that his superhero epic celebrates "the story of America" and champions basic human kindness in a world that desperately needs it. Meanwhile, star David Corenswet shared at the London premiere that his predecessors did “a very Superman thing,” with former Men of Steel Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin encouraging him to make the role his own.Universal's Jurassic World Rebirth chomped its way to a $147 million five-day weekend opening during the Fourth of July. While those numbers would make any studio exec happy, they're actually a steep drop from the franchise's predecessors, suggesting that after 32 years, audiences might be experiencing some dino-fatigue. The mix-up led to an awkward phone call with his representatives who had to clarify who he was actually auditioning for, though director James Gunn reportedly loved the story.

The finale of Andor streamed more than a month before this podcast. Why? Well, it's not because this episode was too confusing or too long. "Jedha, Kyber, Erso" is a fitting season and series finale and doesn't botch the landing. It starts off with the action that was promised at the end of episode 11 and finishes with a surprise in a field of gold.Kleya is not welcomed with open arms on Yavin, but she should be. Her name hasn't been thrown about as a hero of the rebellion, maybe only because she seemed to outlive many of the ones who knew her true contributions. A model spy, was she. Cassian and Melshi (and K-2SO, of course) saved her in the nick of time, not just for her safety, but the freedom of the galaxy. It's nice to see so many Imperials frustrated instead of reframing them as misunderstood. They're the villains. We understand they're evil.Not every story thread gets answered. Not every character gets a happy ending. The show has done more for Star Wars than I think Lucasfilm and Disney would care to admit, since it didn't fall prey to any of the agenda as Tony Gilroy steered his own series almost completely without critique. I don't consider this a model to follow, unless you have a mind like Gilroy who can assemble the right team.The show is over and so is the coverage, but you can always send in a comment to the email address we reveal in our podcasts. Paul Davids is an author, artist, and award-winning Hollywood film director. As an author, his most recent book is the ambitious 514-page non-fiction AN ATHEIST IN HEAVEN – THE ULTIMATE EVIDENCE FOR LIFE AFTER DEATH? It is co-authored with Professor Gary E. Schwartz, Ph.D., a scientist who is also a prolific author. In 1990, Lucasfilm contracted Paul Davids to co-write (with his wife, Hollace Davids) six STAR WARS books that weave stories featuring the STAR WARS characters that continue the STAR WARS saga after RETURN OF THE JEDI. Those books, which sold millions of copies in many languages, are THE GLOVE OF DARTH VADER, THE LOST CITY OF THE JEDI, ZORBA: The Hutt's Revenge, MISSION FROM MOUNT YODA, QUEEN OF THE EMPIRE, and PROPHETS OF THE DARK SIDE.He has written, produced and/or directed 12 feature films, mainly distributed by Showtime (ROSWELL, 1994) and NBCUniversal International Television (STARRY NIGHT, THE SCI-FI BOYS, JESUS IN INDIA, BEFORE WE SAY GOODBYE, and THE LIFE AFTER DEATH PROJECT), with a film slated for release in 2016: MARILYN MONROE DECLASSIFIED. His entertainment production career started with the classic, original TRANSFORMERS animated episodes. You'll find his name on 79 of those Marvel Productions shows as a production coordinator, and he also wrote some of the longtime favorites.
