It's our last week of summer vacation on the podcast, and we picked another one of our favorite episodes for a movie that's turning 40! Well, Ridley Scott's Legend had its United Kingdom release in December of 1985, but the United States didn't get it until the spring of the following year! Enjoy this classic MTMUG episode orginally released November 11th 2021. "What is light without dark?" We watched Legend (1985) directed by Ridley Scott and what we wouldn't give to run around the forest hugging woodland creatures and get wine drunk with fairies. This movie is HIGH fantasy and we are here for it. Baby Tom Cruise is prancing around without any pants, Mia Sara is serving high-fashion face, face, beauty, face and Tim Curry is giving us CAMP as gym-bunny muscle-queen Lord of Darkness. This movie is peak 80's fantasy up there with any Henson or Lucasfilm classic and definitely not to be missed. When the House of Mouse scooped up Lucasfilm and the whole shimmering STAR WARS galaxy, fans practically twirled their lightsabers in delight. At long last, the Skywalker saga would get its final trio of tales, and the universe would stretch outward like a hyperspace jump with no end in sight. Then The Mandalorian swaggered onto the scene, and suddenly everyone had a new space-cowboy obsession—plus a tiny green heart‑stealer soon christened Grogu, who promptly became the galaxy's smallest cultural supernova. But after The Book of Boba Fett and a wobblier third season of The Mandalorian, the shine began to dull, and even the Skywalker finale left many feeling like they'd stepped on a LEGO brick in the dark.Still, a question hovered in the air like a hologram: did Grogu—and to a slightly lesser degree his helmeted dad—still hold enough goodwill to charm audiences back into theaters? 2026 was set to answer that cosmic riddle with the first STAR WARS film to hit the big screen in seven years: The Mandalorian and Grogu. IMDB summed it up with a wink of simplicity: once a solitary bounty hunter, Din Djarin now ventures into a fresh adventure with his pint‑sized apprentice, ready to stir up trouble, wonder, and probably a few merchandising opportunities.Jon Favreau directed the film from a script he crafted alongside Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, assembling a cast that reunited Pedro Pascal while adding Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver to the mix. Critics offered everything from polite nods to warm applause, while audiences tended to beam a bit brighter—yet the film still struggled to recoup its hefty budget, falling short of the blockbuster hopes Disney had pinned to it. Now your co‑hosts dive into this star‑studded space romp, sharing their thoughts on whether this latest chapter rekindles the magic or simply drifts among the cosmic dust.

COME JOIN HARLOFF, ELLIS AND STERGER FOR A NIGHT OF COMEDY - THURSDAY, 10/8 @ 7:30PM SHOW HOSTED BY: KYLE LEWIS https://brokerage.govs.com/shows/376674 Hollywood is changing—and today's box office tells the story. Kristian Harloff takes a deep dive into one of the biggest shifts the movie industry has seen in years as established blockbuster franchises struggle while original and lower-budget films continue to surprise audiences. What happened to **Supergirl**, **The Mandalorian and Grogu**, and **Masters of the Universe** at the box office? Why are breakout hits like **Obsession** and **Backrooms** becoming some of the biggest success stories of the year? Kristian examines whether audiences are moving away from traditional franchise filmmaking, what this means for studios like Warner Bros., Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and DC Studios, and how Hollywood may need to rethink its strategy going forward. Today's discussion explores whether we're entering a new era of Hollywood, where audiences are rewarding fresh ideas over familiar IP. From the struggles of major studio tentpoles to the unexpected success of original horror and independent films, Kristian breaks down what these trends could mean for the future of movie theaters and the entertainment industry. If you're a fan of movie news, box office analysis, Hollywood trends, DC, Star Wars, Disney, Warner Bros., or the future of blockbuster filmmaking, this episode is for you. #Hollywood #BoxOffice #Supergirl #TheMandalorian #Grogu #MastersOfTheUniverse #Obsession #Backrooms #MovieNews #DCStudios #StarWars #Disney #WarnerBros #KristianHarloffShow #EntertainmentNews SPONSORS: LIQUID IV: Tear. Danny and Kevin continue their conversation on the new Star Wars products by discussing the movie that came and went, The Mandalorian and Grogu, also known as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. This strangely timed phone-in job from Jon Favreau and crew vexes Danny and Kevin as they wonder what is going in those offices at Lucasfilm or Disney or whatever. No spoiler alert warning was given because there is literally nothing to spoil in this boring but kind of fun at times action adventure movie. The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is not doing as well as Disney and Lucasfilm had hoped. That doesn't mean it's not a good movie! The public can't be forced to spend money and fans already have, so there's some work to do for them to find out what will keep fans coming back and what will get more people to give it a watch. This is the Way Podcast knows that pain. Maybe there's a new way with an app to watch it in theaters with director commentary?Starfighter may already have a rough cut and some people in Europe might have seen footage! A model maker passes away and he's got quite the resume. There is news from a Summer Games Fest and there's news of a different kind of fest from France. It seems Quantic Dreams isn't playing fair. Fate of the Old Republic continues to hire, Galactic Racers gets closer to release, and ZERO Company starts a promotional push.Collectors continue to quickly consume more product when it comes to Grogu and specialty items from the Hasbro Pulse website. Disney Parks goers may be getting a new way to consume food and drink in Batuu this year, and of course, there's another "word" for those who follow the only way to heaven.Feel free to take part in contributing ideas and commenting on our podcasts on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YoutTube, on Facebook, through Amazon's podcast portal, or even on Discord. Star Wars Jedi Survivor 3 with Cal Kestis reportedly will have a large time jump. Here's a character I believe Disney and Lucasfilm want to appear in live action, therefore, I think Cal Kestis third Jedi Survivor / Jedi Fallen Order game will conclude his story in the games, and then pickup with him again in the New Republic timeline AFTER Return of the Jedi near Ahsoka Season 2 and The Mandalorian THEORY SABERS - https://theorysabers.com/ Best sellers: Ani III - The Chosen One - https://www.theorysabers.com/product/... Every journey has a beginning…… Bantha Tracking is an audio journey through the earliest official Star Wars fan publications. Each episode brings an original issue of the Official Star Wars Fan Club Newsletter, Bantha Tracks to life, presenting an audio edition and hosts exploring its articles, news, interviews, rumours and behind-the-scenes stories in discussion. Beginning this episode with the very first Official Star Wars Fan Club Newsletter from early 1978, we'll follow the publication issue by issue as it evolves into Bantha Tracks and beyond, experiencing Star Wars as fans did at the time—waiting for the next film, discovering new characters, and learning the latest news directly from Lucasfilm. Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan, a collector of vintage memorabilia, or simply fascinated by the history of the franchise, Bantha Tracking offers a unique opportunity to rediscover these rare publications as they were originally read—and now, heard—one issue at a time. Join Dan, Jez and some bloke called Alan as we begin the trail with Newsletter Volume 1, Number 1
Ian McDiarmid who played Emperor Palpatine / Darth Sidious has revealed that him and George discussed a Palpatine show back in the day before he sold Lucasfilm. The show would encompass Palpatine after Revenge of the Sith (maybe some flashbacks of Plagueis would be cool) and we would have gotten a more drama style show on the politics of the Empire. The wait is over for GTA VI....information. WE have all the details on GTA VI, and no its not getting delayed anymore. Valve also dropped the curtain on the Steam Machine and it is not cheap. Toy Story dominated the weekend, and no surprise there, and George Lucas is popping up in a very likely place. That and more this week!

Allegedly, Star Wars has lost 85% of its fan base, but that's only when comparing The Force Awakens box office to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Clever article title but to be fair, that's just not accurate. While Disney Star Wars has definitely alienated its core audience over the years, I don't think it's a fair comparison being made here. I do think, however, that more fans are being pushed away with bad stories by the day, than what Lucasfilm will admit to, at least under Kathleen Kennedy. Hopefully, Dave Filoni has a plan going forwards which we will discuss in the next video. The Tim Conway Jr. Show Hour 2 (6.19) Conway kicks off the hour with the one and only Neil Saavedra in studio — now officially “Flaco” after dropping 27 pounds in two weeks following bariatric sleeve surgery. Neil breaks down the new world of sipping, portion control, and eating dime-sized bites while Conway reacts the only way Conway can. Then the crew gets into the average weight of men around the world, Neil accidentally absorbing World Cup fever, and Foosh taking “as the crow flies” way too seriously. From crows flying 20 to 30 miles per hour to measuring distance like a “sparrow fart,” the conversation goes full Conway. Later, the Boyle Heights cold warehouse fire reignites for a third time, while Neil reveals he is building a remote-controlled R2-D2 in his shop. That launches the crew into Star Wars talk, Disney buying Lucasfilm, the massive value of the franchise, C-3PO weight loss goals, Andor confusion, and why Popeyes is actually named after Gene Hackman’s character from The French Connection. The hour wraps with yet another Boyle Heights warehouse flare-up, because apparently this fire has more comebacks than a Star Wars sequel. Neil Saavedra, bariatric sleeve surgery, weight loss, World Cup, as the crow flies, Boyle Heights fire, warehouse fire, R2-D2, Star Wars, C-3PO, Disney Lucasfilm, Popeyes, Gene Hackman, Conway Show, funny podcast See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Karl Urban explains that fans who talk about shows and movies that didn't go the way they wanted shouldn't be called toxic (if they are just speaking normally), but rather should be seen as passionate fans who CARE about the media being created. I think this is such an important topic in today's era since everything is so politically charged to the point that you HAVE to like or dislike something in order to tow in line with the machine. It's really simple. If you like or dislike something primarily based on the story, character development and continuity with lore, it means you're a passionate nerd and the executives at Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, or any studio, should take what you say to heart and think deeper about it rather than discarding you as a toxic fan if you're just expressing your thoughts normally. In my day, it was more of an argument about if you understood Star Wars or not...Unlike today where your entire personality and quality as a human is decided whether you liked the Acolyte or not.
