You were awake for this scene.*trophy sound* This week on the Emotive Pixels podcast, we take a glimpse into the NCIS videogame, released in late 2011 to the universal acclaim of platinum trophy hunters everywhere (and probably not very many others). This is a concerted effort by an internal Ubisoft studio, which apparently makes it a step up from similar CSI games developed by Ubisoft which are handled by a satellite studio in China. We completely avoid discussing this in the podcast, and instead focus on whether or not this is an enjoyable experience for fans of the show, and how badly you'll have to suffer for what many consider to be last generation's easiest 100% completion achievement. Specific points touched upon include voice actors that make the jump between CBS and Ubisoft (there are two of them, by our count), integration and dependence on dastardly quicktime events, pattern matching minigames, and vaguely uninstructed nuclear bomb disarmaments atop skyscrapers. In a lengthy discussion about the worst games we've experienced, we awkwardly and inadvertently compare Hatred and Noby Noby Boy and discover some strange passion, before moving on to discuss the raw historical offensiveness that is Custer's Revenge for the Atari. As a special featurette, we delve into some quick 2005 reminiscence with tales of launch date Xbox 360 fails courtesy of the illustrious Nate.

Welcome to Horrible Night and our podcast, The Horrible Show. Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Justin take a look back at the first year of the site and walk through the details of what makes it so Horrible. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow It’s been a year since Horrible Night first launched and it’s taken just about that long for our cast of characters on the site to have some sort of consistency. We take a step back and reflect on the site to explain what is going on behind the scenes for our new visitors and to give new insight to those who have been here a few times before. Putting a bit of a twist on our usual format, our Threesomes of the Week focus on our favorite moments on the site so far, while our On the Spot question reveals the law breaking origins of some of our gamertags. The cast then turns its attention to the core site content and pulls back the veil on our approach to editorials, reviews, news and gaming events. Of course, not everything is perfect so the fellas have brought some ideas of what they’d like to improve upon during 2011, and before things can turn sappy, Ethan saves the day. Would someone think of the adults? Actually we do, all the time. We just haven’t discussed it until our special guest Nathan gave Justin, Cole, and Ethan an excuse to talk about managing your game time as adult and family responsibilities increase. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Growing up a gamer may seem easier than being a grown up gamer. That doesn’t you should give up, and we’re here to help. Before it gets too heavy, we should officially introduce you to Nathan – The Prophecy – who has vanished from the site in recent weeks thanks to the birth of his twins. We welcome him back with our Threesomes of the Week where Cole is confused that Inception didn’t confuse him at all. The On the Spot Question asks – what is your greatest gaming marathon session? You can almost hear Nathan tearing up recalling memories of Final Fantasy VII. Those marathons may be behind us, but there is still plenty of gaming left ahead in our adult lives. We take a look at how game time has changed from our bachelor days on through marriage and having children. Along the way we highlight games that your significant others can enjoy, and a few that may have them worried about your stability. Hopefully we saved each other and you from a potential real life fight due to video games. Of course, who says we know what we are talking about? After all, we are the types of people that can spend from now until the game comes out debating the Mass Effect 3 trailer. Keita Takahashi of Namco Bandai, creator of Katamari Damacy, has once again dipped his nimble fingers into his mystical bucket of genius and pulled out Noby Noby Boy, one of the most bizarre games I have ever played. Mike Schiller of PopMatters bravely took it upon himself to review this oddity. This week, Scott and I use Schiller's piece to discuss our own thoughts on Noby Noby Boy, Metagames, "play," and the sexuality of interstellar worm-like beings. I highly encourage you to watch some YouTube videos of the game and read the PopMatters review, both of which you can find in the shownotes. As always, we would love you to post your comments, no matter how bizarre they may be.Some discussion starters:- What are your thoughts on making your own in-game challenges? Have you any memorable accomplishments? - Do metagames enhance or diminish a gaming experience? - Do you think Noby Noby Boy is representative of a wider PS3 audience? To listen to the podcast:- Subscribe to the EXP Podcast via iTunes here.
