How to View a Pix4D Map in VR Today's question is about integrating drone technology with VR. How can you view you drone model using a VR headset like Occulus Rift? Our caller for today, Jon has a question about Virtual Reality (VR). Specifically, Jon wishes to view his Pix4D maps using Occulus Rift, a VR headset. Certainly, viewing your drone model in a VR environment can result in a highly engaging and interactive experience. But, is this even possible? If yes, what is the workflow for doing so? To answer Jon's question, we first discuss the many benefits of VR. Topics discussed include using VR for creating a BIM workflow, emergency response, employee training, and children's education. After a six month hiatus we finally managed to dust off our D&D campaign. But first Anna and Myron share exciting news from Pandora. Borderlands 3 has landed and so far it’s a rootin’, tootin’, lootin’ good time. Borderlands 3 feels more like Original Recipe Borderlands, with Legendary weapons a’plenty. Anna thinks it will be her game of the year, but only time will tell. Meanwhile Myron finally pulled the plug on a VR set-up, first springing for the Occulus Rift before quickly switching to the Occulus Quest. The Quest doesn’t require a PC connection and truly allows for a “wire-free” experience. Myron thinks it’s the wave of the future, but JT and Tom are still skeptical of the long-term appeal. Finally, we discuss our latest adventures in Faerun where after a six month hiatus we got back to our lovable band of Villain Smashers. Tom introduced his new character, Tolan the minotaur leader, and Myron introduced a bevy of skill challenges to take the adventurers through a lot of story in a minimal amount of time. The cobwebs are gone and the adventurers are ready for blood. Remember to look for all episodes of our podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher, and TuneIn. TCW Podcast Episode 087 - Virtual History And now we discuss at the technology that has been just a few months away from revolutionizing video games for the past thirty years, virtual reality. While a hot topic again due to the emergence of the Occulus Rift and the PS4 VR, virtual reality has been a Holy Grail of computer graphics research since the early 1960s. We examine the origins of VR at the University of Utah and its refinement at Atari and VPL Labs before looking at several attempts to bring VR into the mainstream in the early 1990s. We end with a quick look at the state of VR today. “What is the last thing that blew your mind?” Three new virtual reality headsets are set to enter the toys and games market in 2016, including the Occulus Rift, the HTC Vive, and the Playstation VR from Sony. Sony’s new headset is a winner is both price and the fact that users only need a Playstation and Playstation camera to use the device, but the Playstation hardware is not as fast as a brand new PC which may lead some users to experience motion sickness. All in all, its an exciting year for these new devices, which may be the next big thing in video gaming.
In this episode we talk about the development of a cross network multiplayer being developed by Xbox One that may include PS4 and possibly Steam users. We talk about the upcoming release of Playstation VR which is competing with Occulus Rift and we talk about the Sausage Party trailer in our main topic. Enjoy!

Welcome to Bonus Barrel! Big ol' episode this week! E3 is right around the corner and so, once again, we do not get to talk about Demos. That's okay because we talk about all kinds of stuff! Some of the things we talk about this episode: Splatoon Updates, Hearthstone patch coming. Street Fighter V, Hyrule warriors 3DS. We then move on and talk about the Occulus Rift, some E3 predictions (and hoping) and get in a huge discussion about character morality in games. This stems from a topic about Shadows of the Colossus. We also gab a bit about Nintendo Power and Gamefan. Seriously, there's a lot going on today so give it a listen! Also - would Seigi buy a Ps4? And Rob makes a deal regarding the Xbone.

You may be asking yourself what happened to episode 3 of this season? Well, it was eaten by a grue or more accurately it died a sad audio death involving bad mics and editing glitches.
